Here is Baji grandparents from his mama side, the Flores family. Emilia is the only child though she has many cousins, aunties and uncles from both her parents. Hector and Maria works as a store owners for the town they live in along with working a bit of land they own to grow some of their own food. When Emilia moved to Japan her parents were rightfully so very worried about her since she's a very introverted person and has a hard time opening up to people. That worry didn't stop tell they could tell she was doing better from her letters and phone calls when ever they talked to each other.

When she got serious with Kyosei the 2 went to visit Peru to see both Hector and Maria. The two are very happy to met the man who will be their daughter husband as he was very reliable and kind and would be able to take care of Emilia. A few years later they were given a grandson, Keisuke. Hector when first seeing the boy called him his "Big Man" everytime he saw him when they visited. The two somewhat spoiled Keisuke much to the disapproval of Emilia and Kyosei(kind of) but didn't stop it too often. Though the Flores couple don't visit to Japan often as they would like when they did it was the greatest time for Keisuke as he gets to show off his grandparents to his friends.

aka people turn into giant man eating chickens and the perpetrator is trying to make human-chicken hybrids using enslaved women like cattle. also something something adults are awful for not getting my little girl treatment when she was sick so this only affects adults

Like depending on the age group, the characters look like they come from?? 3 different genres: teenagers look pretty standard for a shounen, there are disgusting detail looking adult men, and incredibly chibi little kids. The chickens are also pretty realistic looking too.

Why would they kidnap Niki anyway? Why did Kai go after his daughter?

I’m really hoping we will get a full backstory in the future, I want to know what Doumeki did to find and rescue her. For the moment, if my theories are correct and Kai is baiting Tsunakawa, then the choice of kidnapping Niki would make a little bit more sense. Her birth was the event that changed things between Okuyama and the Sakura family, that opened up the chance for him to become the next heir instead of neo-dad Tsunakawa. But Tsunakawa didn’t want to renounce his place as kumicho to be a father and let Niki grew up away from the yakuza, like her grandfather hoped. But he pushed things “too far” in his own words, we don’t know what he did, but the Sakura family was weakened and he needed to assert his authority and power, and on top of that make bigger profits than his father was making with Okuyama as a right hand man. Without Niki, the succession would have been linear and Okuyama would have probably stayed. So Kai figured that kidnapping her would teach Tsunakawa a lesson, and would have made Okuyama a potential suspect. The ransom would also have been quite substantial. But also the type of action, so against the honor code of conduct would have also been so great an offense that retaliation would have been guaranteed and justified. It is all speculation on my part tho, we are still in the middle of figuring things out. Doumeki found Niki, and the kidnapping was tied to a group called Kyosei, who was eliminated, but any involvement of Okuyama was never found as far as we know.

Apart from the criminal storyline, the introduction of Niki was also a needed addition to the story. Doumeki was in a very bad shape after being so drastically dismissed from the place he had found beside Yashiro and with the other members of the group. He goes to Misumi because he wants to stay. Amou really helps him to find another place, where no one knows anything about him and Yashiro, but it is Niki to offer Doumeki an emotional anchor and a home to stay and regain some sense of renewed purpose and warmth.

Tokyo seems to have given up on having any memories. When the scenery that once existed is gone, I lose connection to the memories and feelings that I previously had there. ABOUT: The Byōjakuna clan and how they caused their own extinction.

While the Byōjakuna family had its fair share of strong sorcerers, the clan went unnoticed up until the Taisho era because of their involvement in World War I. Some higher ups in the clan decided to fight in the war in exchange for large sums of money, practically selling themselves and their techniques for financial gain. Having broken several jujustu laws, several members of the clan were given the death penalty. These men, Kokoro, Aegu, and Kyosei Byōjakuna had convinced the rest of the clan to go into hiding with them.

At this point, several members of the Byōjakuna clan had bounties on heir heads for several crimes such as exposing humans to jujustu, murder of non sorcerers, repetitive association with high ranked cursed spirits, murder of other sorcerers, theft of cursed tools, and more. It’s safe to say that tracking down members of the Byōjakuna clan had become an unofficial sport.

The family managed to stay under the radar for decades, but since they kept to themselves their numbers were dwindling down quickly. But they still had their wealth. In order to bring their family forward, most Byōjakuna men resorted to under handed tactics to secure brides, their reputation of being curse users made it challenging to properly court women from other sorcerer families. They weren’t above using blackmail, manipulation, and even murder to ensure a bride. Primarily they focused on families that weren’t in the best financial situations or ones they viewed as weak.

The last head of the clan was Choki Byōjakuna. Born in the summer of 1974, he was the last son to be deemed worthy of leading the clan into a new era. By the late nineties he was the last living member. Dedicated to reviving legacy, Choki decided to ❛ marry ❜ three woman sorcerers. The first being Mitora, after Choki had threatened to kill her father she went willingly. The second was Shini, whose mother Kumo willingly gave her to him in exchange for a comfortable life. The third being Narika whose own father sold her off. While there are other women Choki produced heirs with, Mitora, Shini, and Narika are the only ones with the wife title because of their curse techniques.

While Choki fathers many children, he only favors the ones who are sorcerers, especially the boys. He planned to arrange marriages for his daughters for his own benefit. Any children born without any jujustu talent are given tattoos on their back that say ❛ worthless ❜ as a constant reminder that they will never fit their father’s standards. These children aren’t allowed to leave the property and are tasked with the upkeep of the houses and gardens. Some of the boys who have shown to be especially strong are given the job of guarding the estate and training their brothers in physical combat.

Choki was later murdered by Shini, Akuma, and Jigoku since they hard grown tired of his abuse and finally gained the courage to put an end to it. Any children Choki had later shed their last names and took their mothers’.

Curse techniques seen in the Byōjakuna clan and from Choki’s wives. ( will be adding to this in the future )

Digestion: Choki’s curse technique allows him to temporarily use the techniques of sorcerers he has killed. In order to do so he has to consume the flesh of said sorcerer. He’s able to use their technique until it passes through his digestive system.

Flesh Art: A shikihami technique which belongs to Mitora. Her technique requires her to have tattoos of her shikigami, they’re summoned by her pulling the tattoo off of her skin. The bigger the tattoo, the more cursed energy it takes to summon. But once the shikigami has been used, it can’t be used again and the space the tattoo was in looks as if Mitora had gotten it removed with laser treatment. Depending on the size of the tattoo it could leave some scarring.

Adam’s Rib: Narika‘s technique allows her to take things such as hair, skin, nails, etc from consenting individuals and with these she can create replicas of them that allow her to keep track of their injuries, vitals, and other things regarding their health. These replicas can’t do anything, but Narika can use reverse curse energy to heal them through their replicas. The more things she put into the replica containing heir DNA, the stronger her technique is.

Can you please look at chapter 45 and pg 33 and tell me what you think about the interaction with Kai and Nishio? Do you think Nishio the guy is scared to get into a fight with Sakura group? He seemed pretty scared.

To give context for this interaction for anyone else who might read this: Nishio is the name of other scar-face-guy who was in the Kyosei group at the time of Niki’s kidnapping. He guessed that Doumeki might remember him and, now that Kido is being taken, Tsunakawa will learn who is behind the scheme involving Yamakawa and the money he owns to the Sakura family. Kai and Nishio are now part of a criminal gang named Ryuzu, based in Shibuya, that collects money for the Okuyama group there. From the conversation Anon is asking about, I think it is very important that we learned that Okuyama himself isn’t aware of the situation and the actions Kai has taken. I think Kai asks Nishio why he is scared, because the latter is expressing his worries about this issue. If Yamakawa puts two and two together then he will think that Okuyama is involved - as we see happens just few pages later - and the Sakura family will link the hit and run and Yamakawa’s disappearance with the same perpetrators of Niki’s kidnapping. If Okuyama doesn’t even know about all this then it is a huge mess. Kai is doing something very reckless, because the situation between Okuyama and Tsunakawa has always been very tense. But we know that Kai is a bit of a rogue and that Okuyama’s protection wasn’t enough for him to escape Tsunakawa’s punishment. In my opinion, he is deliberately baiting the Sakura family to go after Okuyama and his group.

Imo, Nishio is very much right about being weary of the possibility that their little scheme as a criminal gang would cause an all out yakuza war between the Sakura family and Okuyama group, because that has the potential to grow in an even bigger mess if the conflict reaches the Kyokusei and the Sanwakai, that are the bigger yakuza syndicates who probably won’t be very happy about it making the news. And the possibility of Doushinkai being also involved has just increased now that Yashiro’s involvement has been noticed. But Doushinkai having business dealings with Kyokusei could shatter the amicable alliance they had maintained with the Sanwakai for a long time. I don’t know how far Yoneda is planning to go, but things don’t look very good all around. But maybe Kai’s plan is actually it: to bait Tsunakawa to start the conflict against an unaware Okuyama. Regardless who wins, there will be consequences to pay for both of them.

And what about this little piece of information that Inami told Doumeki? He was trying to bait Doumeki into revealing if he knew things, but Doumeki knows enough about police methods that he didn’t fall into it. But I was alarmed because we knew that Okuyama wasn’t aware of what Kai was doing and now we know he hasn’t been around lately. He was probably not even involved in Niki’s kidnapping imo, an action like that doesn’t really align with the type of person he seemed to be in the flashback scenes we saw recently. And that conversation about scales, balance and retaliation.

In conclusion, I think Nishio expressed a fear of a future escalation, which is probably something Kai is instead intentionally and secretly pursuing out of spite.

Otome Jam Thoughts 2022: Eye can See You

Eye can See You

Reality is but one of the three planes of existence and the paranormal turn out to be very real, residing in one of them.

“Eye Can See You” follows the story of Aiya Yoshida, a girl who possesses a magic ancestral eye that allows her to see spirits.

She enters a new school and encounters spirits, who haunt Kyosei High on a daily basis. But it turns out that not all of them have good intentions, thus giving a new whole meaning to “surviving high school”.

Will Aiya be able to solve the mysterious deeds of her schoolmates?

Who knows, she might find things tied to her curse in more ways than she initially thought…

So I went back and looked at previous otome jam entries because seeing this years entries made me curious about some things, and I remembered this was one of the demos I really wanted to try out and then just....never got around to oops. So yes, I'm going back and talking about an old entry.

This very much felt like something young me would have been super into, and I don't mean that in a bad way. It has a very paranormal shoujo manga vibe, which was very fun. It also has one of my favorite tropes for the love interests, but I'm not sure if stating what that is would be a spoiler so I'll leave it at; I'm excited for the angst that comes with the trope.

As for the characters, Aiya the MC didn't leave too strong of an impression on me, but the other characters certainly did. Specifically, I love the manga club gang. They're so goofy and the scenes with them were definitely my favorite. As far as love interests go, Yoichi is my favorite even if we don't get to see his face (for now).

I also really liked the pacing in this. I think one of things I tend to notice is the pacing usually feels too fast in demos (probably because they're trying to introduce everything at once), but this had a decent pace. I liked how it set everything up, and I think it made the final scene in the demo have the intended impact.

Overall, I had a really fun time with this! I'm excited for the full release, whenever that is.
