PLEASE do some if the costumes from Balan Wonderworld! (Sorry, I just really love this game!)
Tickle Experiment - Wonderworld Inhabitants
- Study conducted by request from surprising number of individuals, including @itz-arianna-lunar and @kayssweetdreams among others.
- The various humanoid/alien species in Wonderworld display similar genetic properties to Pokémon: while each individual possesses unique sentience and personality, differing species all share common appearances and physical traits.
- In other words, most members of a “costume” species will usually have similar ticklish spots and reactions. (Within 70% percentile). Exceptions will of course be found.
- Furthermore, costumes of these various races imbue their wearers with the genetic characteristics of the creatures they mimic. IE, if a person who’s not particularly ticklish on their stomach wears a Jolt Tiger outfit, they may suddenly find themselves more sensitive there, etc.
Jumping Jack
Tend to kick in an involuntary flurry of rapid limbs when tickled. Usually enjoy it, but beware risk of accidental physical harm.
Love tickle fights and tickle wrestling! A friendly & playful but very physical species, much like real-world kangaroos.
Most vulnerable on feet (arches) and belly (esp. inside pouch). Ears are also ticklish.
As they grow, Jumping Jacks adjust quickly to carrying things in their pouches. When an unfamiliar human wears this costume for the first time, the sensitivity there may surprise them.
Double Jumper
Usually most ticklish on their ribs and feet.
Highly resistant to being tickled - this species is aggressive and will angrily fight back if provoked.
Squirm, kick, and thrash when tickled.
Dry, cackling laughter. Rough voices.
Tips of their tails, which can move quickly, are firm. A good tickle weapon, if rarely utilized as such.
Butterfly (Dusk/Dawn)
Interesting display of sexual dimorphism in Wonderworld species - while Dusk Butterflies are uniformly female, Dawn Butterflies are uniformly male.
Airheaded creatures. Not low on intelligence, but careless, oblivious, and very much in their own world.
Ticklish on all the usual spots…feet, tummy, ribs, armpits, et al…but these species seem to have a plethora of more-unconventional spots (elbows, knees, antennae, bases of wings).
Have a chiming laughter, like the tinkling of bells.
The dust/powder their wings produce can create a tingling sensation in the skin. It’s been described as “very tickly” by humans.
Aero Acrobat
Prominent Tickle Spots: Armpits, Backs of Knees, Soles
Excitable breed of creatures. Enjoy tickling. Most likely to be lers. (78% majority)
Inquisitive. Skilled at finding others’ weak spots and coming up with unique ways to tickle. They poke. A lot.
Aero Acrobat costumes inspire creativity and invention. If someone wanted to design a tickle machine, wearing this outfit would probably help.
Speedy Cheetah
High concentrations of nerve endings on feet, especially balls and arches. Livewires of touch sensitivity all over their bodies due to stored kinetic energy in cells.
Since their pent-up speed can only be released in short bursts, it's not always difficult to catch them. Very difficult, however, to hold down. Jumpy, flexible.
Proud creatures. Usually hate being tickled.
Not ticklers by nature. It's "silly, beneath them." Do however delight in comedic misfortune of others. Utilize hard and fast scratches when tickling.
Tackling Bull
The easiest and fastest way to defeat a Tackling Bull is to dodge when he or she charges, then quickly tickle from behind - armpits and ribs are weak spots.
Typically as a species, these humanoids cannot stand being tickled. It makes them very angry.
Monstrous laughter…loud bellows and roars exclusively. Will often thrash and pound the ground when tickled.
On the giving end, they’re wildly aggressive. Violent pins, Nelson holds, harsh jabbing and squeezing finger movements.
Ladderman
Laddermen/women commonly have very ticklish armpits. Tummy, hips, and the balls of the feet are also weak spots.
Their primary occupation (creating and holding ladders) often leaves them vulnerable with raised, exposed underarms.
Frequently exploit this opportunity and tickle each other during ladder work. A mischievous species, they like to tickle and be tickled.
Tight-knit. Very familial species.
Flame Blaster
Warrior-minded breed that often need to lighten up and relieve tension. (Tickling is an effective method.) Quiet and contemplative.
Soft, steady, deep-voiced laughter.
Tickling reaction is twofold: begins with panic and attempts to escape, followed by eventual surrender to playful laughter and wrestling.
Often tickle too roughly by accident but mean no harm!
Jolt Tiger
Extremely ticklish and become quite volatile when tickled. Caution: may produce electrical discharge.
Possess roaring voices, uniformly loud. Can’t hold laughter in. No self-control.
Most common tickle spots: tummy, between toes.
Stomach lights up when charging electricity. The energy seems to temporarily increase their bellies’ weakness.
Sun Walker/Moon Walker
Like Butterflies, Walkers are dimorphic creatures - Sun Walkers are male and Moon Walkers are female.
Suns are usually ler-leaning switches who enjoy brightness and laughter. Moons are usually shy lees who hate being tickled, but enjoy retaliation.
Both types of Walker have exceptionally ticklish feet. Sun Walkers often possess sensitive underarms and sides, while Moon Walkers display tendency toward ticklishness on the belly and sides.
Opposing supernatural abilities - power to stop time when standing still, power to stop time while in motion - will create scenarios in which the one will be rooted in place and the other will be free to move. Tickling among opposing genders is often very one-sided because of this.
CONCLUSIONS:
Results promising. The varied effects that genetic restructuring has on humans' ticklishness indicates potential for study in further universes and fields. (Cross-reference between superheroes with similar powers?)
Most Wonderworld species, even the aggressive ones, enjoy play and physical contact. Only a few will react to tickles with anger/violence. A peaceful realm that seems an ideal place to foster tickling as a cornerstone of bonding and relationships.
Study further.
This is gonna be my last Balan Wonderworld post for a little while. I love the game’s universe and got more fic requests, but I’ve been doing a lot more than expected with this IP lately and just need a bit of a break from it. 😂
