Lady livery headcanons

Ver. 1: this one is based on concept art. There Lady sports bright pink paint with a gold rooftop. I think is makes her look like a toy, and it fits in with the classic 7. I also think it can be a funny invert of Rosie's redesign.

Ver. 2: lately I've been really obsessed with the idea of blue Lady. Not just for subverting gender trope but also symbolic of her relationship with the Conductor family and Lily's plush. I'd like to think after being reinstated she decided to experiment more, including trying different colors. She happened to like royal blue and it became her main ever since! And it just looks so elegant on her.

Flight

A TTTE Curse!AU one-shot. This one revolves around Lady and Junior. Fic under the cut.

Lady was in the form of a great dragon. Her red violet scales reflected the light from the sun like great mirrors. The golden spikes that ran along her back glistened as her golden underbelly glowed softly from the fire burning deep within her body. She had draped one of her massive wings over the group, having curled her neck around them to look at them with one large golden eye as they rested. Her slender yet muscular body was perfect for them to rest against. Her sides slowly rose and fell with the time of her breathing in a steady soothing cadence. Junior was the only one that was out and about, climbing onto Lady's long and sinewed neck by grabbing onto her straight golden horns and using his legs to push off the side of the golden spikes lining her lower jaw. This prompted a slight growl of annoyance from Lady, but Junior she wouldn't harm him. 

Junior rested on her back between Lady's shoulders as he grasped one of the many back spikes that ran along her spine. Her scales were razor sharp, yet strangely, the scales on the hollow between her shoulders were smooth to the touch, offering a somewhat comfortable place to ride on her back.

"Come on, you promised me a flight, Lady! Why don't we have some fun and burn a few things?" Junior asked as he leaned forward, resting slightly  against one of her back spikes with his arm around it, looking relaxed as he smiled. Lady snorted softly, and tries to shake a little to gently throw him off, but Junior held on, chuckling softly.

"Oh, come on! Please, just a five minute flight! Lily can come too if she wants!" Junior said as he patted the side of Lady's neck, feeling the thick muscle shift under his hand as Lady craned her neck and turned her head slightly to look at him with a slightly annoyed look on her face. Her golden eyes watched him for a few moments before she finally spoke, her voice sounding smooth and soft yet riddled with sheer power.

"I'm not going to abandon my Rider even for a short period of time. She needs to rest." Lady said with an agitated growl. She narrowed her eyes at him, turning them into golden slits. Junior had learned not to fear the powerful his family had created and learned to fear. It was simply in her nature to be the way she is. She shared blood with the dragons, a gift and a burden for anyone to bear. 

"Come on.. Burnett and my cousin will watch over her. You know both will keep a good watch over her! You promised a flight, remember? I think we can both have some fun, eh?" Junior asked. Lady paused. Junior couldn't tell if she was thinking or speaking to Lily, her precious Rider. After a few seconds he saw a mischievous glint in her eyes before a wolfish grin crept across her face, showing off all of her fearsome fangs as smoke billowed from between them and from her nostrils. 

"Very well, then, but my version of fun may be different than yours.. hang on tight and don't fall." Lady said as she stood up, careful not to disturb her Rider, who was peacefully resting. Mr. Conductor fell back with a thump as she stood up, having leaned back against her to rest. He sat up in bewilderment before looking up and saw Junior smiling and looking down at him. Mr. Conductor facepalmed as he sighed. Seemed Junior managed to convince Lady to allow him to ride her on his own this time. He knew how she was. She was likely hiding something from Junior. He sat up just as Lady bunched her muscles and took to the air with a great leap and a beat of her wings. The wind stirred up dust as the trees around them swayed.

Junior whooped as he held on tightly to one of her back spikes.The air was considerably cooler from this height. Lady kept gaining altitude with each beat of her powerful wings. The wind produced from her wings nearly took his breath away. He used one arm to slip his bandana over his nose and mouth to block the strong winds as he held on with the other. Without warning, Lady tucked her wings close to her body and nose dived straight towards the ground. Junior immediately clung to one of her back spikes and whooped as Lady performed a corkscrew before swooping and ascending once again. Lady banked left and Junior adjusted his weight to balance. 

Before he knew it, he and Lady were upside down. The world was spinning around them as Lady performed several barrel rolls followed by a loopty loop. Junior laughed as Lady turned upside down and stayed like this for several minutes. Lady couldn't help but chuckle softly at his reactions, encouraging her to keep going as she performed several more maneuvers high in the sky. Mr. Conductor watched from the ground, shielding his eyes from the sun and the bright light reflected off of Lady's radiant red violet and gold scales. 

Lady dived down towards the ground again, positioning herself as if she were a great falcon ready to grab onto the unwary prey below before she landed on the ground with a loud thud. The earth shook beneath her as her powerful muscles absorbed the shock of the impact. Lady smiled a wolfish grin as she laid down and allowed Junior to climb off her back and slide down her wing. He landed on the ground on his two feet and looked at his cousin in excitement and bewilderment. His hair was an absolute mess. Mr. Conductor hinted at a smile and rested a hand on his shoulder.

"How does it feel to know you've finally ridden a dragon? You never forget your first flight." Mr. Conductor asked. Junior laughed and sat down on a tree stump.

"Best experience in my life! We need to do that again, Lady." Junior looked up at Lady. Lady was already lying on her side and curled protectively around her Rider and caretaker. She looked back at him with a slight smile.

"Perhaps.. but another time, of course." Lady said with a slight chuckle.

      Lucy was an engine who once worked the vast mining network in the mountains that connected to one of the Old Railways. Though she was abandoned many years ago, she’s been restored to working order by Burnett Stone, and now runs special tours connecting from Thomas’ Branch Line to the Old Mines in the hills. Though the life she lives is not the same she once lived many years ago, she is still the same Lucy through and through.

[[HISTORY]]

      Lucy arrived on the Island in the 1880s, purchased by the Muffle Mountain Mining Co. to take heavy wagons from their mines to their marshalling yard at Maithwaite. She worked this yard for many years, and was quite content with the arrangement. Not long after the end of the Great War, the North Western Railway would turn their attention to the mineral deposits along Anopha Fell, and extend the nearby branch line north to Ffarquhar.

      It was at this time that Lucy first met Thomas and the Coffee Pot engines. Though Lucy got along fine with them all, her owners weren’t too keen on the Fat Controller’s relationship with the Ffarquhar Quarry Company, and feared they were in cahoots to try and run them out of business. By the Great Depression, however, neither had to worry about the Mining Company, for they were near bankruptcy, bar the one mine they still operated.

      Lucy worked hard during this time, but it wasn’t enough to make ends meet, and before long, the minerals ran dry. Her owners, not wanting to part with her, sheeted her away in a far-off corner of one of the old quarries, where she lay for many years. Over time, nature would reclaim the mineshaft she was kept in, and she was buried within for more time than she can recount.

      However, many years later, she was discovered by Percy and Donald, and she was taken to Crovan’s Gate to be restored. It was a long, arduous process, but eventually, she came to, and now works happily along her old line.

[[THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY]]

      The Muffle Mountain Historical Society is a group of enthusiasts & local townsfolk from Maithwaite who have restored the mines near the town as a historical site. Their founder, Mr. Burnett Stone, was the grandson of the Mining Company’s Foreman, and is a tirelessly dedicated man.

      The Society is one of the biggest factors in the Ffarquhar Branch’s continued service, second only to the various quarries up in Anopha Fell owned by the Ffarquhar Quarry Company. They’re quite close partners with the North Western Railway, and often organise special galas and rail tours for the branch to bring in visitors.

[[THOMAS & LUCY]]

      Thomas and Lucy were firm friends back in the early days of the Branch Line, though they did start off on rocky footing. Bar the Coffee Pots, Lucy was the only engine Thomas felt comfortable confiding in about his personal troubles, and Lucy the same with hers.

      That relationship has shifted, unfortunately, since her restoration. For while Thomas remembers his time with Lucy, the same can’t be said the other way around…

[[FLARE, FLICKER, FADE]]

      Simply put, the Lucy we know today isn’t the same Lucy who originally worked for the Muffle Mountain Mining Co.

      At some point during the Great Depression (believed to be around the time of the Great Sodor Strike of ‘33), the original Lucy passed away*. Her body was kept working by the Mining Company for a few years afterwards, though it certainly did limit how much traffic they got with the Fat Controller. When the Historical Society found what remained of her in the old mines, they still sought to restore her to order, if only cosmetically so they could at least give her the respect she was due.

      However, the strangest thing occurred one fateful evening when Thomas was visiting the Works for a brief check-in. When the sun went down, Lucy’s body had no face, but when it rose the next morning, there was Lucy! Young, bright-eyed Lucy with not a memory in her head about working for Muffle Mountain or ever coming to Sodor before.

      It was a bittersweet occasion, but Lucy was given the space needed to come back to work. However, every so often, Lucy does seem to remember murmurs of her past – never quite clearly, but just vivid enough to recollect some details. Sometimes they’re nice to think back to. Others… She doesn’t like to talk about them.

      *Some of you may recall, Mean-Scarlet-Deceiver made a post a while back about how engines pass away, as well as a follow-up regarding ‘reincarnation’.

[[THE RENEGADE DIESEL]]

      Shortly after being restored into working order, Lucy had the utmost fortune of coming across one of the most dangerous engines to ever roam the rails on Sodor & the Mainland - Cockade. Their first encounter was… unsettling, to say the least. Lucy had accidentally stumbled upon one of Cockade’s hiding spots, and gotten damaged in the process, but no one would believe her when she claimed it was another engine that had done it to her.

      It wasn’t until Jamie’s near-death experience at the Smelters’ Yard that things turned for the worse, and the engines of the Ffarquhar Branch took it in turns to stay with Lucy to make sure Cockade wouldn’t try anything funny. This, of course, culminated with her and Thomas being chased down by the mad diesel on the warpath. The two made a run for it from the Big Station and made a mad sprint down the Main Line until Cockade derailed near the Viaduct, nearly falling into the river below.

      Though the Works Diesel insists that Cockade has been dealt with and won’t be a problem again, Lucy still fears otherwise. Cockade cheated death once before… who’s to say he may do it again?

Hi! I really like your content :)

It wasn’t until recently I knew you liked Thomas & Friends. I was bummed about Lady’s Mary-Sue treatment especially since she was the first girl steam engine to be introduced into the franchise(right?), but I wondered… how to let her appropriately be part of the main cast in the seasons after TATMR? I was thinking Sir Topham Hatt recruits her from Shinning time or from some close ties of his(the Conductor family) and then onward we get to know her actual flaws and charms. Yeah she can still be nice but maybe she has some insecurities or even distrust? This can folly her agendas and give her character some actual development.

Like, if her distrust is against diesels, she can learn to get along with Mavis, Daisy and Boco, learning not to fall for the stereotype. I can see her butting heads with them but with most of the stories, things get resolved. Plus it be cool to develop girl pal bonds with Mavis and Daisy.

Another flaw could be her trying to be this perfect princess, somehow I’d like this to start with her working with Annie and Clarabell lol

This isn’t a flaw but more of something coming from her past, but it doesn’t feel like it be a surprise if she weren’t open to everyone or more reserved. Thomas could give some advice and be somewhat inspirational but it be up to her alone to actually lean on others. Heck, it be good she didn’t really rely even on Thomas (at first) and was used to doing everything nearly everything alone. She probably had the Conductor family but I was thinking like having other engines around.

Idk these are just thoughts.

Those are all incredibly awesome ideas! Like you I was also bummed out over Lady's lost potential so I took it upon myself to make her less of a mary sue and more of an actual thomas character.

How did your Lady and D10 meet from your au?

They met a long long time ago they were very young. they were toddlers when they met, this was also way before Jackie moved to Sodor.

When D10 first met her she was in her true form which was a jellyfish and Dumbo Octopus creature, she was found by a very very swallow and rocky creek and since she was very young she needed water to live she was dying due to a lack of water, then D10 found her and saved her. They became very close friends after that. :]

and I will admit when I made the story of how they first met it was based on Ponyo :]
