Fetch

Ladybug froze as the Dragon Miraculous vanished from her hand. Monarch gave a sick smirk, before hefting his sword up.

“Do you honestly think I wouldn’t have a way of reclaiming all of my miraculous?”

Chat snarled and went to lunge at Monarch, only for Ladybug to grab his shoulder. She shook her head and signalled for him to retreat. Monarch laughed as the two heroes moved away from him.

Chat and Ladybug landed and ducked behind a chimney.

“He hasn’t followed.” Said Ladybug, looking at Chat, “I have an idea on how to get the Miraculous back.”

Ladybug skidded to a halt, while Chat struck at Dark Owl. Monarch landed a few feet away from her.

“If you give me your miraculous now, I might let you live as my pet.” Sneered Monarch, as Ladybug nearly gagged at his insinuation.

“For once, you’re nicer than me.” Snarked Ladybug, as Chat knocked Dark Owl away.

Chat swung his staff at Monarch, making the villain jump away from him and towards Ladybug. Ladybug quickly located the dog miraculous and its associated ring. The fox ring was in the way, not that Ladybug cared, it was still going to get bloody.

“Lucky Charm!” Called Ladybug, as a pair of scissors fell into her hand.

Ladybug ran to Monarch, pulled the dog miraculous from his neck, grabbed his left hand and used the scissors to cut Monarch’s left index finger off.

Monarch screamed as Ladybug landed away from him.

Monarch whirled around and glared at Ladybug, just as the heroine put the dog miraculous on.

“Tikki, Barkk,” Said Ladybug, glaring back at Monarch, “Unify.”

Ladydog glared at Monarch, “Let’s see if this works.” She held up the ball and said, “Fetch.”

In an instant, Hawkmoth found himself staring in horror as the miraculous all returned to Ladybug. Hawkmoth suddenly became aware of the sudden power shift, Ladydog and Chat Noir watched as Hawkmoth fled, leaving the miraculous and his finger behind.

All the Kwami stared up at Ladydog. The two heroes suddenly became aware of the crowd they’d gathered, before Chat noticed the finger.

“Hey, LB,” Said Chat, pointing at the finger, “I think we can track him.”

Ladydog looked down at the finger, a smirk appearing on her face, “Today just got even better.”

Marinette carefully balanced a platter of food in her hands, as she made her way into her room. Adrien was lying on the chaise, with a host of Kwamis resting on his chest.

“Okay, I managed to get most of your favourites, I’m still looking for the banana bread Xuppu.”

“It’s fine.” Dismissed Xuppu, before diving towards the platter, with the rest of the Kwami’s following suit.

“Since the police now have Hawkmoth’s finger,” Marinette shuddered, “we’ll have a DNA profile for Hawkmoth and it’ll be checked against their database.”

“We might also want to check the hospitals, since Hawkmoth is going to need medical attention for the finger.” Said Adrien, as the Kwami talked amongst themselves.

“Is he protected by Nooroo?” Sniped Kaalki, picking up a small bun.

“Nooroo doesn’t have a choice in the matter.” Defended Wayzz, while Xuppu swallowed a croissant whole.

“I don’t understand why we can’t just tell Tikki and Plagg that Gabriel Agreste is Hawkmoth.” Whined Barkk, making Marinette and Adrien freeze.

“Because they wouldn’t believe that a fashion mogul would look like that.” Sniffed Kaalki.

Marinette and Adrien shared a look, before a red phone started vibrating. Adrien walked over to it and answered it, “Ladyug’s phone, Chat Noir speaking.”

Adrien was still for a moment, before holding the phone out to Marinette, “It’s for you.”

“Hello.” Said Marinette, holding the phone to her ear.

“Ladybug,” Said Detective Jonas, “We got a match on the finger, evidently, it’s someone we had on the system. The surprising part is that it’s Gabriel Agreste.”

“Right,” Muttered Marinette, “Chat and I will meet you at the station in a few minutes.”

“I’ve already applied for a search warrant for his properties,” Said Jonas, sounding frustrated, “but we can’t apprehend or question him, because he’s jetted off to the UK.”

“That would he have there?” Asked Marinette, before Adrien groaned, “What?”

“Félix.” Said Adrien, “He got the Miraculous from Félix, but he lost the Peacock miraculous to Félix, and I doubt dear Aunt Amélie will be able to hide Félix from him.”

“He’s going to kill them.”

Félix smirked up at his uncle, openly wearing Duusuu in front of him.

“How can I help you, Monarch?” Smirked Félix, as Duusuu hid in his pocket.

Duusuu had found that Félix wasn’t much better than Gabriel, only Félix had the gall to paint himself as a victim.

“There’s been a problem.” Said Gabriel, looking down at the thing in front of him, “Our deal is no longer in place.”

“But you wouldn’t want to have your identity revealed to the world, would you?” Mocked Félix, freezing at seeing the blood on Gabriel’s hands.

“That’s just an inevitability now,” Said Gabriel, “Nooroo, Dark Wings Rise.”

Hawkmoth raised his sword and brought it down on Félix. Félix raised his arms to protect his face, losing both his hands after the first strike. Félix was surprised that there wasn’t any blood, scrambling away from Hawkmoth.

A portal suddenly opened behind Hawkmoth and Pegabug and Snake Noir charged out and barrelled into Hawkmoth. The villain snarled, before slashing at Snake Noir, leaving a long bloody gash across his face. Noir shielded himself, one hand grasping at his face. Pegabug tackled Hawkmoth, her yoyo breaking apart and creating a sword. She plunged her blade into Hawkmoth’s shoulder, before he backhanded her, making her stumble. Hawkmoth shoved his sword into Pegabug’s leg and cut it off.

A green shield crashed into Hawkmoth, as Carapace, Rena Furtive, Vesperia and Ryuko charged through the portal. Rena ducked and skidded under Hawkmoth’s swing, her flute smacking into his legs. Vesperia stunned Hawkmoth, while Ryuko grabbed Félix and took the peacock miraculous from him. Snake Noir, still covering his face, helped Pegabug to her feet and the two slowly made their way over to Hawkmoth.

“Rena, if you could.” Said Chat, his speech slurred.

Rena leaned down and pulled the Butterfly off Hawkmoth, leaving Gabriel glaring up at them.

Ryuko grabbed Gabriel by the hair and dragged him through the portal.

“Carapace, take Félix through,” Said Pegabug, leaning against Snake Noir, “Rena, Vesperia, search everywhere, we may need to take Félix’s mother with us.”

Rena nodded, “Only if you two go and get medical attention, don’t forget your leg.”

Snake Noir and Pegabug both left, Pegabug picking up her dismembered leg on her way out.

Pegabug and Snake Noir winced at the photography flashes blinding them temporarily. They were met by paramedics, one pair taking Snake Noir to a side and another dealing with Pegabug.

“Tikki, Kaalki, divide.” Marinette couldn’t bring herself to care as she dropped her transformation. The Paramedics quickly stemmed the bleeding, before sending both Marinette and her leg to the nearest hospital.

Snake Noir flinched slightly as the paramedic examined his cut.

“It’s not very deep,” Said the paramedic, “You’ll have a scar up by your temple and along your jaw, I guess those masks really do protect you, huh?”

Snake Noir, and the paramedics, heard Gabriel yelling. Noir made his way over to Gabriel.

“I DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE, I’M NOT GUILTY OF ANYTHING!” Screeched Gabriel.

“Explain then.” Said Noir, getting Gabriel’s attention.

“I need the miraculous to save my wife.”

“How?”

“Adrien’s a senti-monster, and it’s been draining my wife’s life since it was created.” Loudly announced Gabriel, some gasps and mutters coming from the crowd that were behind the police’s caution tape.

“How do you know that?” Asked Noir, shaken by Gabriel’s claim.

“Senti-monsters don’t bleed.” Sneered Gabriel, as Snake Noir picked up a shard of glass.

“Plagg, Sass, divide.” Adrien replaced Snake Noir.

Without breaking eye contact with Gabriel, Adrien pushed the tip of the glass shard into his arm and cut a long, bloody line down the length his arm. Adrien watched the blood drip to the ground, before looking at Gabriel.

“Oh look, father, I’m bleeding.” Said Adrien, before drawing his other arm back and burying it into his face.

Adrien dropped the shard of glass to the ground, before the paramedic from before rushed over and immediately started treating his arm.

Adrien sat next to Marinette, sucking on a boiled sweet, as Marinette bemoaned having her leg in a cast.

“And the leg’s not going to grow any more, I’ll be a lopsided freak.” Whined Marinette, “And it itches.”

Adrien frowned, before looking at Marinette’s feet, or rather foot. He looked at Marinette, before he opened his mouth, “Marinette, you broke your only remaining foot, your leg’s not been reattached.”

Marinette’s head whipped around and stared at Adrien, “What?! Why?!”

“Because” Adrien started, “the doctors all said that your leg wouldn’t grow with the rest of you, which is when you asked if they could cut off your other leg to even them out, they gave you crutches and you accidentally knocked over a vending machine breaking your foot.”

“What?” Asked Marinette, “Oh, yeah.”

“Go to sleep Marinette.” Said Adrien, gently.

“Okay.” Yawned Marinette, before rolling over and falling asleep.

“Those drugs have really taken her out.” Said Alya, leaning against the doorway, “How’d she pull over a vending machine anyway?”

“She tried to get a drink, the machine ate her money and she started shaking it.” Said Adrien, leaning on his fist, “Turns out, she’s freakishly strong.”

“That’s only when she puts her mind to something.” Muttered Alya, looking down at Marinette’s unconscious form.

“How are you, by the way?” Asked Adrien, “Considering what you found.”

“I’m alright, a bit unnerved at just how brutal your dad, sorry, that thing was.” Shuddered Alya, “How are you holding up, seeing that your aunt is dead, and the rest of your family’s been incarcerated.”

“I wasn’t really close to any of them, so I guess it’s not affecting me.” Sighed Adrien, “But, I really don’t like that the hospital’s put me on Suicide watch.”

“Adrien,” Said Alya, after a moment to silence, “You practically carved your arm open in front of, at least, two dozen people.”

“Only in response to him saying that senti-monsters don’t bleed.” Protested Adrien, waving his heavily bandaged arm, “I wish I could’ve seen his face though.”

“It was a mix of horror and shock.” Said Alya, bluntly, “You need to get some rest as well, you’ve been up most of the night.”

Adrien grumbled, but got comfortable in his seat and started to drift off to sleep.

Adrien was released from the hospital the following morning, which allowed him to get to the mansion to pick up some clothes and some of his stuff, and headed to the bakery. Marinette’s parents had offered him a room. He was quick and early enough to avoid a massive crowd of paparazzi.

Of course, Adrien ran into Alec Cataldi, ignored him and managed to get into the bakery without incident.

“Most stressful morning of my life.” Muttered Adrien, sliding to the floor.

Sabine poked her head from out the doorway and spotted Adrien, “Adrien, have you eaten?”

“No,” Yawned Adrien, covering his mouth with his hand, “I just had time to go to the house, get some clothes and come here.”

Sabine nodded and said something to Tom, before Adrien heard them start with breakfast. He sighed through his nose and climbed to his feet, wincing at the twinge in his arm as he stood. Adrien quietly had breakfast with Tom and Sabine and joined them on the trip to the hospital.

Adrien was glad he’d worn a hoodie, pulling the hood up and covered his head. He and Marinette’s parents were guided to Marinette’s hospital room, and was greeted by the sight of Marinette trying to drink from a water bottle with the lid still on.

“Mari, are you okay?” Asked Adrien, perching on the side of Marinette’s bed.

“Stupid bottle won’t work.” Slurred Marinette, “Soup’s yuck.”

Adrien shared a look with Marinette’s parents.

“What soup?” Questioned Adrien, as Marinette turned a hazy gaze on him.

“Adrien!” Grinned Marinette, immediately dropping the water to the floor and leaning toward him, “Minou, minou, minou.”

Adrien leaned towards Marinette, allowing her to tickle his chin, before leaning over the side of the bed and throwing up. Adrien grimaced, as a nurse entered the room.

“There’s been an incident.” Said Sabine, gesturing to the puddle Marinette made.

Marinette hobbled into the school, Adrien supporting her as she walked. Adrien flinched at the loud cheers, with Marinette hissing. They both gradually made their way to their class, only to be greeted by cheers from their classmates.

“Ow.” Murmured Marinette, her head still reeling from the pain killers.

“Guy!” Hissed Ayla, making everyone go silent, “Sorry about that, Lila’s vanished for some reason, probably because she wasn’t centre of attention.”

Adrien snorted.

“But, since things have been…traumatic, we thought we’d throw a celebration for you!” Finished Alya, making Marinette and Adrien look around.

“Thank you.” Said Marinette, quietly, while Adrien gave a small smile.

“I’m just glad everything’s over.” Responded Adrien, quietly.

Because, at the end of the day, they always had each other.
