Working on my cleaning the lake personal project today and I found this piece of #lakeglass made from an old #glassinsulator I used to collect these, so finding a piece worn by time and water was cool. I'll be keeping it on my tea desk I think. Also, fellow #naturalist out there, when you come across a pile of lake deritus (reeds, driftwood, dried algae) just loaded with plastic and garbage, do you pick out the garbage or just remove the entire pile? I know stuff is used as nesting material. Today is World Ocean Day 🌊 🐬 pic taken in Laguna, CA, in a time before the Gopro was invented, with a film camera attached to my wrist, holding it underwater while sitting on my surfboard in the lineup. 🏄⠀⠀ What changed in those 20 years is the incredible number of plastic and general debris floating around!!!! And this happens everywhere, from the Pacific Palisades to Vevey. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I believe that the big companies have understood the need to rapidly reduce and eventually totally eradicate plastic and that the first steps are taken into this direction, such as #Nestle pledges it. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ But there is also the great need to educate people. We had a great time in the Rocky Mountain National Park. We hiked for 7 miles in the snow and picked up some trash on the way. Funny enough, I found a troll thingy saying "hope".
