By • Olalekan Fagbade JUST IN; Subsidy removal: Palliative Comnuter buses commence operation Osun State has unveiled commuter buses that would convey civil servants, students, and other residents of the state along some selected routes. This is part of the measures to cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy. Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi while making this known at the official unveiling of the buses in Osogbo on Monday, said the buses would work between 6:45 am to 9 am for the morning shift, while those on the afternoon shift would work from 3 pm to 5 pm, from Monday to Friday. In his words, “I assure residents of the state that their welfare remains paramount to the present administration. The administration will continue to embark on programmes and policies that will put smiles on the faces of the residents. “I commend civil servants for their resilience and commitment to their duties despite the harsh economic realities. I assure them that this government will always prioritise their welfare.” In his opening address, Commissioner for Transportation, Sesan Oyedele, while assuring residents of the state of more buses in the coming days, described the Adeleke government as a workers’ friendly one. “Passengers will be charged a token fee on each drop for the running and maintenance of the buses,” Oyedele added. The routes for the five buses in Osogbo are as follows: Dada Estate-Capital-Okefia-Olaiya and terminate at Abere (Secretariat). The second bus will ply Stadium Roundabout-Ayetoro-Old Garage-Olaiya and terminate at Abere (Secretariat). The third bus will convey passengers from Oja Oba-Isale-Osun-Odi Olowo-Olaiya and terminate at Abere (Secretariat). The fourth bus is scheduled to take off at Owode Ede-Abere-Ogo Oluwa-Olaiya and terminate at Old Garage, and the fifth bus will commence movement from Okinni-LAMECO-Dele-Yes Sir-East Bye Pass and terminate at Abere (Secretariat).

Adeleke Approves rehabilitation of major roads in the Osun

The Executive Governor of Osun state, Sen. Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke has approved the rehabilitation of some major roads in the state. This was made known by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mallam Olawale Rasheed in the press statement released to public. The statement reads: "As part of efforts of the present administration to fast track development and enhance the economic growth of Osun State, the rehabilitation of some major roads across the State has been approved.Some major roads across the State are in deplorable condition for sometime now, impeding the free flow of traffic and increasing the number of hours people spend before getting to their destinations, it became necessary for something to be done." "This has prompted the administration of Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke to give approval for the rehabilitation of these major roads to ease the free flow of traffic and reduce wear and tear on people's cars. Disclosing this on Wednesday, the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr Olusola Ajao said the Governor graciously approved the rehabilitation of the roads as part of his campaign promises to the people to make life better for them. Engr. Ajao said the selected roads which has been earmarked for immediate rehabilitation will all be completed within the first one hundred days of the present administration." "Also speaking, the Director, Highways in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr I.B Bello hinted that spot patching works have already started on some major roads within Osogbo, the State capital to ease vehicular movement and reduce the time people spend on the roads. He explained that the rehabilitation of roads across the State will be a continuous one as the present administration under Senator Ademola Adeleke is determined to fix infrastructures, especially across the State for the benefit of all and sundry and to boost the economic growth of Osun State." "Some of the roads approved for rehabilitation include: Akoda to Olaiya to Old Garage/ Oke-Fia/Omobolanle area, Lameco/Oke-Onitea junction/ stadium area in Osogbo. Rehabilitation of John Mackay/Oke-Ayepe Costain road in Osogbo and rehabilitation of Akankan junction/Agate in Ede. Other works approved for rehabilitation include: reconstruction/beautification/upgrading of the Lameco/Oke-Onitea junction/ stadium area in Osogbo. Rehabilitation of John Mackay/Oke-Ayepe Costain road in Osogbo and rehabilitation of Akankan junction/Agate in Ede" "Other works approved for rehabilitation include: reconstruction/beautification/upgrading of the Secretariat roundabout, renovation of Governor's office, Bola Ige house and some chalets/clinics e.t.c at the government house, Oke-Fia, Osogbo." It would be recalled that during the campaign of July 16 gubernatorial election in Osun state last year, Sen. Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke promised to provide infrastructural development that will attract investors to the state in order to make the state an industrial hub. Read the full article
