Avallac’h’s Girlfriend

I’m not sure if anyone has posted about this before but omg poor thing?

Ok this isn’t Ciri or Avallac’h slander (well, maybe a bit of Avallac’h slander), just a comment about why I understand the way that Avallac’h’s supposed girlfriend acted like she did in the game and why she’s honestly the most disrespected girlfriend ever just think about it:

1. First of all, your boyfriend is not over his ex and literally everyone knows about it. It’s so obvious that complete strangers immediately pick up on the fact that he still has feelings for her (both Geralt and Ciri noticed how he spoke about Lara/reacted to her name being mentioned) and it’s almost a running joke between the Aen Elle (both Eredin and Ge’els making comments about Lara only for Avallac’h to immediately react to them, he literally has no sense of control or composure when it comes to her). He also spends his time away from his home world trying to protect elven graveyards that contain monuments to Lara, monuments he’s weirdly attached too and lingers over incessantly, even in front of complete strangers.

2. And THEN this girl shows up (ily Ciri but this isn’t about you right now) and literally everybody even the KING, Lara’s DAD, makes a comment about how she looks like Lara. Things are not looking good for you bc even the mention of Lara’s name sends Avallac’h in a frenzy and now there’s a whole person here he has to spend time with that literally looks like his ex.

3. NOT TO MENTION the fact that, although cruel (well, the cruel part is implied), he does have another way of getting a child of the elder blood from her (his lab) but even though he’s an extremely pragmatic person, he seems to want to avoid this option at all costs. Oh, but maybe he’s is a pacifist of sorts? Definitely not girl, he literally sics Ciri on Caranthir (who is basically his adopted son of sorts) knowing that she will kill him (and he doesn’t try to tell her to just stop attacking him when she destroys his staff).

4. Anyway, back to Tir na Lia, you get ready to go on a date with him and then this girl shows up, clearly about to have a meltdown, but instead of ignoring her (even though she turned around and was going to leave you alone), you get unceremoniously kicked out of the boat AND on top of it your boyfriend just tells the girl to “refrain from comment” about the look you gave her. Like, what is it Avallac’h? Why not just tell her that you have a girlfriend who is annoyed about you cancelling a date on her? Sure you can say that you’re just doing your job but the fact that she looks like your ex and you won’t state that you have a girlfriend is weird.

5. Speaking of hiding things, Avallac’h then gets in trouble with the Wild Hunt/Eredin and basically becomes a wanted man, meaning that he has to leave the land of the Aen Elle. You are attached/committed enough to him that you decide to side with him and also become a woman on the run. And then what does he do? Runs off to find Ciri and protect her. This is all good and well because, well, it is his job and he is trying to stop the apocalypse after all, but he really goes and makes things weird for no reason:

5a. First of all, he spends at least a small chunk of time on the run locating Lara’s bones, and trying to reanimate them in some way just to have a way to contact her, on TOP of having (maybe even building) a literal shrine dedicated to her in his lab. Seemingly he does this at the same time he’s preparing to have his body absolutely wrecked by Eredin’s curse (right before he finds Keira and gets the potion from her). So yes, this is how he’s choosing to spend his time on the run and in the (possible) last few weeks of his life.

5b. Ok so he’s on the run with Ciri, and he’s trying to gain her trust etc. That’s fine, it’s just part of his job. But then, for some reason, he focuses more time and energy creating potions (ointments? I can’t remember) to help her get rid of her scar. Maybe this is to make her feel more like herself and gain her trust, or maybe it’s to get rid of the scar that covers her eye (or should I say Lara’s eye).

5c. Oh also he refuses to bring CIri to his Lab in Skellige, basically hiding you from her yet again. Maybe he’s just private like that, maybe he doesn’t want her to know that he’s an expert on the topic of the Elder Blood (unlikely considering everything that went down in the Lady of the Lake and the fact that he’s protected her from the Wild Hunt at great personal risk for the last 6+months), so most likely he knows she has a bit of a thing for him and doesn’t want to mar that for ~whatever reason~.

5d. This is the worst one imo, his lab that you’re staying in is basically filled with Lara paraphernalia. Ok, so you’ve moved in. Have fun waking up to a whole-ass enormous wall mural depicting your boyfriend’s favourite obsession. Don’t like that? Ok, go into the next room where your boyfriend has MULTIPLE sketches of Lara/Ciri just, like, lying about, in the open, no shame at all! Even worse, you’re not sure who it is in the photo, and you’re not even sure he knows, and it’s just the same sketch over and over. Obsessed much? Ok, whatever, you decide to go sit down and brush your hair and put on some perfume. Oh, what’s that on your vanity? Yep, it’s a necklace that belonged to his ex just laying there that he won’t get rid of.

5e. Oh and he can’t stop talking about Ciri. Even if it’s not positive, it’s all he seems to talk about. Oh and he’s straight-up told you how much Ciri looks like his Lara. His ex. That he’s obsessed with. Like, to your face.

6. Ciri and company then break into your house and proceed to trash the place.

Not saying she was justified in being so nasty, but I get it.

Receta de Pabellón Criollo Venezolano y sus Variaciones

El pabellón es un plato que nos ha acompañado a lo largo de nuestra historia, ha crecido con nosotros, con pequeñas variaciones en las diferentes regiones de Venezuela, pero manteniendo siempre la esencia única y pura del plato nacional por excelencia, es representativo de la dieta criolla urbana principalmente, es difícil precisar el origen del plato, pero ya a finales del siglo XIX era reconocido en Caracas.

Desde la colonización, el arroz, así como las caraotas, han sido parte de la comida diaria del venezolano. Las caraotas se servían como acompañante de desayunos, almuerzos y cenas, al igual que la arepa acompañaba mañana, tarde y noche nuestras comidas, hoy apenas es parte eventual de desayunos y cenas, sin por eso dejar de ser importante en nuestra cultura culinaria.

Su origen no está 100% comprobado, pero se dice que data de los tiempos de la colonia, hacia el siglo XVIII, cuando los esclavos reunían todas las sobras que dejaban sus apoderados para comerlas. En aquella época lo que más abundaba en cuando comida era los granos como la caraota y el arroz, que los esclavos le añadían el típico plátano frito. Poco a poco este plato llegó a ser muy común en todas las haciendas, hasta llegar a ser nuestro menú nacional.

Otro de los comentarios más comunes de nuestro Pabellón Criollo, es que representa las tres grandes culturas venezolanas, la Europea mediante el arroz BLANCO, el indígena, mediante la carne por ser MORENA, y la africana por el típico color NEGRO de las caraotas. Aunque realmente es una alusión más visual que histórica, ya que el arroz realmente es proveniente de Asia y la caraota de Centroamérica.

Ingredientes

Para las caraotas

1 kg de caraotas negras (frijoles negros)

12 tazas de agua

1 cebolla grande cortada o rallada

½ pimentón

3 cucharadas de sal

½ cucharadita de pimienta negra

250 gramos de papelón (opcional)

1 cucharadita de comino (opcional)

6 lonjas de tocineta

5 dientes de ajo machacado

Para el Arroz blanco

2 tazas de arroz

4 tazas de agua

1 cebolla mediana

½ pimentón rojo o 3 ajíes dulces

2 cucharaditas de sal

2 cucharaditas de aceite vegetal

3 dientes de ajo

Para la Carne Esmechada

1 kilo de carne (Falda)

2 tazas de agua

1 diente de ajo

1 taza de cebollas picadas

2 ajíes dulces picaditos

2 cucharadas de salsa inglesa

½ cucharadita de pimienta negra

1 cucharada de pasta de tomate

½ cebolla

½ pimenton

½ taza de aceite vegetal

3 dientes de ajo machacado

2 tazas de tomates perita maduros

1 ½ cucharada de sal

Una pizca de comino

Para el plátano frito

2 o 3 plátanos maduros

½ taza de aceite vegetal

Preparación

Para las caraotas

Limpiar las caraotas y seleccionar los granos. Desechar todas las que floten en el agua. Colocarlas en una olla con agua, la cebolla picada por la mitad y el pimentón.

Cocinar a fuego alto hasta que hiervan. Luego, bajar la llama y cocinar aproximadamente una hora hasta que los granos ablanden.

Retirar la cebolla y el pimentón; Añadir la sal, la pimienta y el papelón o el comino (el que desee).

Cocinar hasta ablandar y agregar más agua si hace falta. Retirar la espuma que se va formando encima con una espumadera.

Freír en un caldero la tocineta y cuando suelte la grasa, agregar los ajos, la cebolla rallada y cristalizar; añadir el sofrito a las caraotas y cocinar 20 minutos más o hasta lograr el espesor que se desee.

Para el Arroz blanco

Calentar las 2 cucharadas de aceite en la olla de arroz. Añadir los ajos, la cebolla, el pimentón o los ajíes dulces y luego el arroz, moviéndolo para que se le impregne del aceite y los aliños.

Agregar el agua y llevar a un hervor hasta que el arroz comience a secar. Bajar la llama, tapar hasta que seque y apagar el fuego.

Retirar los ajos, la cebolla, el pimentón o los ajíes y revolver para separar los granos.

Para la Carne Esmechada

Hervir en una olla la carne con el agua, la cebolla, el pimentón y los dientes de ajo hasta que ablande. Aproximadamente 1 hora (en olla de presión, 30 minutos)

Retirar del fuego y dejar enfriar para luego desmenuzar la carne en forma de hebras, bien delgadas y reservar.

Calentar el aceite en un caldero y agregar los ajos. Dorar, sin quemar y añadir la cebolla, el pimentón y los ajíes dulces. Cocinar a fuego medio hasta marchitar.

Agregar los tomates, la sal, la salsa inglesa, el comino y la pasta de tomate. Luego añadir la carne, por último, el caldo donde se cocinó la carne.

Cocinar a fuego medio, moviéndose bien. Dejar secar hasta que la carne este lista.

Para el plátano frito

Cortar los plátanos en tajadas, diagonalmente.

Calentar el aceite y freír las tajadas, primero por un lado y luego por el otro, hasta que se doren sin que se quemen.

Retirar las tajadas y colocarlas en papel absorbente para quitar el exceso de grasa.

Variaciones más usuales del Pabellón Criollo

Con baranda, las tajadas de plátano no se ponen encima de todos los demás ingredientes sino que alrededor del plato, formando una baranda.

A caballo, bastará añadir un huevo de gallina frito

Con Arepas, este normalmente se toma para el desayuno, por este motivo se le conoce también con el nombre de pabellón mañanero. En lugar del arroz usaremos arepas y podemos acompañar con queso blanco rallado o huevos revueltos.

Vegetariano, en vez de la carne mechada , pondremos berenjenas u otra vegetal que nos agrade.

Margariteño, se prepara en Oriente y en las regiones costeras. Hay que ponerle azúcar a las carotas negras y a veces la carne mechada se sustituye por pescados o mariscos preparados de la misma manera.

Cada región o cocinero tiene su manera de prepararlo y todavía hay más variantes. Por ejemplo, en los Llanos se añade queso blanco duro rallado al plátano y a las caraotas y la carne esmechada normalmente procede de cortes de animales de caza (venado,chigüire, lapa, etc.), en el occidente de Venezuela a veces se usa espagueti en lugar del arroz y luego se le añade un huevo de gallina frito, en el Estado Lara la carne esmechada es sustituida por carne deshebrada y frita de ganado caprino (llamada “pata e`grillo”), mientras que en Los Andes y en algunos sitios del Zulia en vez de las tajadas de plátano maduro se usan tostones de plátano verde.

El último consejo entonces, es probar con la receta original al menos la primera vez (si no se es vegetariano claramente) y luego probar algunas variedades según los propios gustos o inspiraciones del momento.

Tips

La receta tradicional puede llevar un poco de azúcar a las caraotas al momento de servirlo, así como también trozos de aguacate y queso de mano o queso blanco rallado al gusto.

William Prevette, 81

William Royal Prevette, age 81, of Roaring River, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Prevette was born on August 8, 1936 in Wilkes County, NC to Sanford and Flora Waddell Prevette. His is preceded in death by his parents and first wife; Betty Sparks Prevette.

Mr. Prevette is survived by his wife; Joann Pardue Weatherman of Roaring River. Two daughters; Leisa Dzeskewicz and husband Allen, of Roaring River and Ann Staley and husband Alvin, of Roaring River. Grandchildren; Melissa Ann Vickers and husband, Michael of Roaring River, Steven Staley of Roaring River, Kristen Gregory and husband, Todd Saxon, of Hamptonville, NC, Callie Dzeskewicz and husband Chuck Culley, of Roaring River. Great-grandchildren; Khloe Staley, Brantley Saxon, and Cason Culley. Step-Daughter; Tammy Weatherman. Step-son; Stanley Weatherman. One sister; Dorothy Staley and husband Wayne. Also surviving are several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 3, at Brier Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Younce and Rev. Willie Pardue officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Lexie Holbrook, 110

Mrs. Lexie Ella Settle Holbrook, age 110 of Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at Wilkes Sr. Village.

Funeral services were held April 3, at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Jeff Collins officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 prior to the service at Reins Sturdivant Funeral Home.

Mrs. Holbrook was born November 22, 1907 in Wilkes County to Enos Watson and Ella Elvira Tharpe Settle. She was retired from Pete's Market and was a member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; William Paul Holbrook, a son; Larry Paul Holbrook, three sisters; Viola Pardew, Gladys Durham, Nell Heidel and three brothers; Claude Settle, Cletus Settle, Virgil Settle.

Mrs. Holbrook is survived by a son; Kenneth Holbrook and wife; Georgia of Wilkesboro, four grandsons; Scott Holbrook and wife, Jill, Todd Hobrook and wife, Dana, Michael Holbrook and wife, Lourdes and Rebecca Taylor and husband, Ricky, seven great grandchildren; Matthew Holbrook , Kenzie Holbrook, Lara Holbrook, Nicole Wendorf, Matt Malone , Zack Blevins and Benjamin Holbrook and two great great grandchildren.

Terry Eller, 57

Mr. Terry Randall Eller, age 57 of Purlear, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services were held April 2, at Pilgrim Baptist Church with Rev. Derek Kilby, Pastor Joey Moore and Rev. Mitchell Johnston officiating. Entombment was in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Eller was born March 31, 1960 in Wilkes County to Homer Lee Eller and Nena Huffman Eller Hoots. He was the Owner/Founder of Carolina Comfort HVAC. Mr. Eller was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother and nephew; Justin Eller.

Mr. Eller is survived by his wife; Cynthia Randall Eller of the home, a daughter; Randi Shea Eller and Randy Beard of Alexander County, three sons; Nolan Randall Eller and wife, Stephanie, Jesse Matthew Eller and Rhett Evan Eller and wife, Jessica all of Wilkesboro, his father; Homer Lee Eller and wife, Patsy of Purlear, seven grandchildren; Lauren, Layla, Aidan, Nora, Sophia, Drew and Sydney, a great grandchild; Braxtin, two sisters; Nancy Graybeal and husband, Ken and Leigh Combs and husband, Chuck all of Wilkesboro and a brother; Jeff Eller and Pauline Taylor of Purlear.

Pallbearers were Doug Eller, Brandon Huffman, Tony Eller, James Eller, Ricky Faw, Danny Goulds and Rodney Eller. Honorary Pallbearer will be Randy Bishop.

Mattie Cleary, 88

Mrs. Mattie Nell Ferguson Cleary, age 88 of North Wilkesboro, wife of Minter Cleary, died Good Friday, March 30, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Health Wilkes Medical Center.

Funeral services were held April 3, at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Collins and Rev. Jim Gore officiating. Burial was in Mountlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Cleary was born December 10, 1929 in Wilkes County to Jim and Nellie Walsh Ferguson. She was a member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church for over 66 years.

Mattie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She worked as a switchboard operator at Central Telephone during the 1960s, and in later years, she was a beloved sales lady at Designer Showcase. She was known for her world famous homemade fried apple pies every year at the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival. She looked forward to the Cleary family beach trip in North Myrtle Beach every summer where she kept everyone entertained and Pa-Paw on his toes. Mattie always had a loving smile for everyone she met, and she will be missed by so many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jule Jones and Reba Hamby; and one brother, Ravon Ferguson.

She is survived by her husband, Minter Cleary, of the home; her daughter, Denise Davenport and husband, Greg, of North Wilkesboro; her son, Terry Cleary of Wilkesboro; three grandchildren, Winston Davenport and wife, Ashley, of Asheville, Trent Cleary and Ellen Cleary, both of Raleigh; one sister, Inez Miller and husband, Dr. Bayne Miller, of Mocksville; and two sisters-in-law, Grace Taylor and Dorene Pendry of Rural Hall.

John Brown, 79

Rev. John Wayne Brown, age 79, of Wilkesboro, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Avante at Wilkesboro. He was born April 10, 1938 in Wilkes County to Wilson Monroe and Della Wagoner Brown. Rev. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy J. Brown; son, Richard Brown; brother, Buster Brown; and sister, Shirley Royal.

Surviving are his daughters, Zelda Wagoner and husband Billy of Millers Creek, Brenda Wagoner and husband Marvin of North Wilkesboro; sons, Michael Brown and wife Peggy of McGrady, Ricky Brown, Dickie Brown and wife Bonnie all of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Margie Brown of Hays, Jeanette Wagoner of North Wilkesboro; half-sister, Irene Bare of Wilkes County; thirteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and eight step grandchildren.

Funeral service was held April 1, at Miller Funeral Chapel with Brother Curtis Peak officiating. Burial follow ed in Pine View Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted. Memorials may be made to the Family or to Wake Forest Baptist Health Hospice, 126 Executive Blvd. Suite 110, Wilkesboro, NC 28697. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements. Gary Norman, 74

Mr. Gary Norman, 74, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018. Mr. Norman was born March 23, 1944 in Surry County to Lawrence and Viola Norman.

Gary retired from Wayne's farms and attended State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to his parents Mr. Norman was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Faye Norman and three brothers, Bobby, Larry, and Ray Edward Norman.

Survivors include: his wife Faye Norman of the home; son, Gary Dion Norman and wife Christie Dean of Elkin; daughters, Kimberly Whitaker and husband Brandon of Elkin, and Yolanda Kiser and husband Danny of Lexington, N.C.; a sister, Deborah Kizziah of Bessemer, Alabama; grandchildren, Zan Parks, Kayla Parks, Amber Parks, Chandler Whitaker and Brittany Whitaker; great grandchildren, Gabe Parks, and Cayden Parks.

A graveside service was held April 2, at at Forbush Friends Cemetery in East Bend with Rev. Gary Tatum officiating.

Cecil Clark, 80

SFC E7 Cecil Edward Clark, USA Retired, age 80 of Purlear passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral services will be held in Richmond, Indiana at a later date.

Mr. Clark was born July 19, 1937 in Richmond, Indiana to Arthur and Ruby Clark. He was retired from Modern Globe. Mr. Clark enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17 and retired in September 1974. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served for 20 years and 20 days. He served in Vietnam, Germany, France, and USA. While in Vietnam, he was an MP.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Louise Newton and Clara Baker, a brother; JW Clark and a great grandson; Nicholas Warren.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife; Connie M. Clark, seven children; MSGT Ken Clark USAF Ret. and wife, Heidi of Surprise AZ, Curt Clark and wife, Trina of Lexington KY, Christopher Clark of South Bend, IN, Renee' Clark-Ayers and husband, Ricky of Carnesville, GA, Diane Clark of Richmond, IN, Ralph Bane and wife, Wendy of Richmond, IN and Rejeana Bane Ellis of Winston Salem, NC, a sister; Shirley Turner of Richmond, IN, seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and beloved German Shepherds.

James Hampton, 72

James (Larry) Hampton, age 72, of Roaring River, born in Surry County to the late Cornelius Hampton and Willie Ann Hampton on September 14, 1945. Larry was called to his heavenly home on March 28, 2018 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. He was a member of Mt. Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Larry worked at McKnight's and Sons Pallet Company for 30 years. He also worked at Tyson Foods for 5 years. He was a caring and loving brother, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Hampton enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, hunting, watching wrestling, racing, gardening and taking daily walks. During his illness he never complained. He was always laughing, talking junk and making people smile. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Parker, McNeil Hampton; and sister, Mary Lou Redman.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 52 years, Mary Lou Hampton; three daughters, Marilyn Hampton, Annette Tillery and Christina Hampton all of Mocksville; sisters, Sylvia (Filemon) Hernandez of Roaring River, Virginia(Timmy) Wilborn of Roaring River, Sally Scales of Jonesville, Luthedia Jones of North Wilkesboro; brothers, Worth (Angela) Hampton of North Wilkesboro, Ronnie Hampton and Thomas Hampton of Roaring River both of Roaring River; five grandchildren, Lakisha (Nia) Hampton, Justin Tillery, Jaleesa West, Kabrion Hauser, Latrinda Tillery all of Mocksville; great grandchildren, Jamari Tillery, Shaira Tillery, Brooklyn Tillery all of Mocksville; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; and special friend, Martha Key.

Funeral service were held March 31, at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Casey Walker, Deacon James Gentry and Rev. Calvin Bryant officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Valley Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Johnny Sharpe, 74

Mr. Johnny Marshall Sharpe, 74, of Wilkesboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

Johnny was born on March 1, 1944 in Wilkes County to Tolar James Sharpe and Florence Clanton Sharpe.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jimmy Sharpe, Loyd Sharpe and sister, Marthann Sharpe.

Johnny is survived by: his wife of 48 years, Pauline Bauguess Sharpe; sons, David Sharpe (Jennifer) of Texas, Daryl Sharpe of Wilkesboro; sister, Susan Rentz (Bill) of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Jessica, Jordin of Wilkes, Diana of Texas; three great grandchildren; Mathew, Hayleigh and Marty.

A memorial service was held March 31, at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel in Moravian Falls. Rev. Bill Smith will be officiating.

Nellie "Nell" Frances Handy, age 87

Miss Nellie "Nell" Frances Handy, age 87 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church with Rev. Sherrill Welborn and Rev. Jeff Collins officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 at the church prior to the service.

Miss Handy was born August 22, 1930 in Wilkes County to Ira and Maude Handy. She was retired from Wilkes Glove where she worked as a Supervisor in the Turning Department and was a member of Hinshaw Street Baptist Church. After Nell retired, she enjoyed assisting her sister, Vicie care for children. This brought her much joy and happiness showering love on the children. Nell loved gardening, walking and working in her flowers.

She was preceded by her parents, six sisters; Irene H. Pendry, Cassie H. Blevins, Grace H. Sprinkle, Gladys H. Hayes, Wilda Handy and Vicie Handy, two brothers; John Handy and Quincy Handy and a nephew; Donnie Blevins.

Miss Handy is survived by nieces; Barbara Jo Sprinkle of the home, Patsy Anderson and husband, Roy of Ronda, Gail Gentry of North Wilkesboro, Diane Shumate of Taylorsville, Kristie P. Bouldin and husband, Eddie of Trinity, NC, Peggy Broyhill and husband, Bob of Millers Creek, Debbie Fowler and husband, Tom of West Jefferson, Cathy H. McKenzie and husband, Reid of North Wilkesboro, Susie Blevins of Mtn. View, Vickie H. Domaschk of Houston, TX and Sheila H. Weissimen of Houston, TX, nephews; Benny Hayes and wife, Liz of Mtn. Terry Lane Osborne, age 74

Terry Lane Osborne, age 74, of Traphill, died Tuesday March 27 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. He was born January 9, 1944 in Wilkes County to Rev. Iredell Elzie and Eula Mae Hincher Osborne. Mr. Osborne was a member, song leader, Sunday School Teacher and served as Sunday School Superintendent at New Covenant Baptist Church. He loved to play baseball, golf and sing in a family quartet. He was employed with Tyson Foods in the Hatchery. Mr. Osborne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale Osborne and twin brother, Jerry Osborne.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Jean Wiles Osborne; daughter, April Osborne Edwards and husband Paul of Wilkesboro; son, Shane Osborne of Traphill; grandchildren, Brendon Mitchell Wiles of Boone, Lauren E. Byrd and husband Matthew of North Wilkesboro, S. Collin Edwards of Wilkesboro; sister, Darrell Minton of Millers Creek; and brother, Rev. David Osborne and wife Bernice of Greenville, South Carolina

Funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, March 31, 2018 at New Covenant Baptist Church with Brother Larry Adams, Rev. Don Myers and Rev. Chad Reavis officiating. James Gary Elliott, age 62,

James Gary Elliott, age 62, of North Wilkesboro, died Monday, March 26, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. He was born June 18, 1955 in Iredell County to James Edward and Clara McClure Elliott. Mr. Elliott worked in the poultry industry for 37 years. He loved riding motorcycles and fishing. Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Kaye Kanupp Elliott; son, Scott Elliott and wife Deia of Burlington; granddaughter, Kenley Elliott; and first cousin, Dannie Norris, who was like a brother.

Robert (Dwayne) Sparks, age 73, of Wilkes County, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Avante at Wilkesboro. He was born October 20, 1944 in Wilkes County to Ernest and Mae Burchette Sparks. Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lucy Laws, Lucille McNeil, Evelyn Lyalls; and two brothers, Junior and Raymond Sparks.

Surviving are his sister, Ella Mae Anderson of North Wilkesboro; favorite niece, Judy Wagoner and husband David of Ronda; several other nieces and nephews.

Dustin Claude Rhodes, age 24

Mr. Rhodes was born November 16, 1993 in Wilkes County to Claude Edgar Rhodes and Debbie Faw Rhodes. He was employed by Wayne Farms. He was a member of Haymeadow Baptist Church.

Mr. Dustin Claude Rhodes, age 24 of Roaring River, died Friday, March 23, 2018 at Northern Hospital of Surry County.

Mr. Edward Eugene Eller, age 74, of Miller Creek, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Mr. Eller was born May 22, 1943 in Wilkes County to Ronda Marshall and Lucretia Nichols Eller. He was a retired electrician.

He is survived by his two sisters, Linda Jenkins and husband, Robert, of Millers Creek and Joyce Galloway and husband, Leslie, of Montgomery County; and his two brothers, Russell Eller and wife, Shirley, of Millers Creek and Earnest Eller and wife, Susie, of Wilkesboro.

Mr. Tim Thomas Wintersteen, age 54 of Moravian Falls, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00 PM, Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at The Gathering Church, 976 West Meadows Parkway, Moravian Falls, NC 28654 with Pastor Mike Siranni officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mr. Wintersteen was born August 15, 1963 in Chicago, IL to Austin Thomas and Judith Anderson Wintersteen. He graduated from MorningStar School of Ministry and served in various capacities with different ministries for the remainder of his life. He was a member of New Day The Church at High Point in Colfax, NC. Tim was a lover of God and will be remembered for how much he loved people.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Wintersteen is survived by his wife; Debra Looney Wintersteen of the home, a brother; Dan Wintersteen of Chicago and a nephew; Dustin Wintersteen.

It is with great sadness that the family of David Lee Eller born July 15, 1957 in North Wilkesboro announces his passing after his long battle with cancer on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the age of 60.

David will be remembered for his love of cars, adventurous spirit and his ability to make people laugh. Known by his friends as "Detail Dave" for his passion of luxury cars.

He is survived by his father Robert Lee Eller and wife Camille Eller; mother Shirley Staley and husband Paul Staley; brother Daniel Lee Eller; sister Donna Lee Eller; niece Lyndsay Lee Mack and husband Travis Mack; nephew Davis Lee Murray; great nieces Hudson Lee and Teagan Lee Mack.
