I really love commentating on a post about how shitty American healthcare is for eye care as it's separate from "regular" healthcare and being told that I should stop wearing glasses and just use contacts instead. As if that is in any fucking way the point. And you don't know why I wear glasses instead of contacts either. Or the other day someone was saying everyone should just get LASIK as if it's accessible or affordable to everyone. My eye doctor has literally told me I have "great" insurance and they would only cover 15% of LASIK and my last pair of glasses was over $400.

LASIK vs SMILE: Understanding the Costs and Benefits for Eye Surgery
When considering corrective eye surgery, it’s essential to weigh your options between LASIK and SMILE, two of the most advanced procedures available today. Both techniques are highly effective in treating refractive errors like myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism, but they differ in terms of surgical method, recovery, and cost. Understanding these differences can help you make an informed decision, especially if you’re considering undergoing the surgery in Delhi, where leading surgeons offer state-of-the-art facilities.
While researching vision correction procedures, patients also look for the best cataract treatments available. It's vital to know how advanced technology has influenced both LASIK and SMILE, but also understand that finding the best cataract surgeon in Delhi is equally critical for individuals with cataracts.
What Is LASIK?
LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, has been the most popular form of laser eye surgery for decades. During this procedure, a small flap is created on the cornea using a laser or microkeratome blade. The surgeon then reshapes the corneal tissue to correct refractive errors. LASIK is known for its quick recovery time, with many patients experiencing significant vision improvement within 24 hours.
In Delhi, many eye care centers provide this surgery, and finding the best doctor for cataract surgery in Delhi is often combined with inquiries about LASIK. This is because specialists who perform cataract surgery are usually skilled in refractive surgeries like LASIK.
What Is SMILE?
SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is a more recent advancement in laser eye surgery, offering a minimally invasive alternative to LASIK. Rather than creating a corneal flap, SMILE involves creating a small incision in the cornea, through which a thin layer of tissue (the lenticule) is removed to reshape the cornea. The absence of a flap in SMILE reduces the risk of complications, such as dry eye and flap dislocation, making it an attractive option for many.
For those seeking this advanced technique, SMILE eye surgery in Delhi is available at top-rated eye care centers. These centers often have surgeons who specialize in both SMILE and LASIK, making it easier to choose based on your specific needs.
Key Differences Between LASIK and SMILE
1. Surgical Technique
LASIK: Requires a flap to be created in the cornea, which is lifted for laser reshaping.
SMILE: Involves a smaller incision and no flap creation, making it a less invasive procedure.
2. Recovery Time
LASIK: Most patients experience clear vision within a day, with minimal discomfort.
SMILE: Recovery can be slightly longer, but since no flap is created, the procedure is considered gentler on the eye.
3. Complication Risks
LASIK: There is a slight risk of flap-related complications, such as dislocation or dry eye.
SMILE: Fewer post-operative complications since no flap is created.
4. Candidate Suitability
LASIK: Suitable for a wider range of vision problems, including severe astigmatism.
SMILE: Primarily used to correct nearsightedness and mild astigmatism.
When choosing between LASIK and SMILE, it’s important to consult with the best doctor for cataract surgery in Delhi or a specialized eye surgeon. They can assess your eyes and recommend the most suitable procedure based on your eye condition, lifestyle, and visual goals.
Costs of LASIK vs SMILE in Delhi
Both procedures offer excellent vision correction, but the lasik vs smile cost varies based on several factors such as the surgeon’s expertise, the technology used, and the hospital or clinic where the procedure is performed. Typically, SMILE is more expensive than LASIK due to its minimally invasive nature and the advanced laser technology involved.
If you’re looking for the best cataract hospital in Delhi or a center that offers both LASIK and SMILE, many reputable eye care centers provide transparent pricing and offer detailed consultations to help you understand the costs and benefits of each procedure. Additionally, choosing the best cataract surgeon in Delhi ensures you’re in the hands of a professional who can also perform laser surgeries with high success rates. The cost of SMILE eye surgery in Delhi is slightly higher than LASIK, reflecting the newer technology and reduced complications associated with the procedure.

What Can You Do To Reduce Dry Eyes?
Tumblr media
After undergoing lasik surgery such as LASIK or PRK, many people experience dry eyes as a temporary side effect. While typically manageable and expected to improve over time, this condition can cause discomfort. Minimizing dry eye symptoms is key to ensuring a smooth recovery and maintaining healthy vision. Below are five valuable tips to help ease dry eyes following Laser eye  lasik surgery.
1. Prescribed eye drops must be used regularly
To effectively manage dry eyes after laser eye surgery, it’s crucial to follow your prescribed eye drops routine. These preservative-free artificial tears reduce inflammation, and keep your eyes lubricated. Using these drops regularly is particularly important during the initial weeks when dryness is most noticeable. The artificial tears are recommended as they are gentler on the eyes and less likely to cause irritation with frequent application.
In extreme cases of dryness, your doctor may recommend gel-based drops, for longer-lasting relief. It’s important to adhere to the prescribed dosage and frequency to manage dry eyes effectively.
2. Staying hydrated is helpful
Dehydration can aggravate dry eye symptoms after surgery, so staying well-hydrated is important for maintaining tear production and keeping your eyes moist. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water daily. In addition to water, incorporate omega-3-rich foods such as salmon, flaxseeds, and walnuts, which help promote healthy tear production. Reducing your intake of caffeine and alcohol is also helpful, as these can dehydrate the body and worsen dryness. Staying hydrated is a simple yet often overlooked way to manage dry eyes after surgery.
3. Humidifier must be installed
Dry environments can exacerbate dry eye symptoms after surgery. If you often spend time in air-conditioned rooms or live in areas with low humidity, humidifiers can help add moisture to the air and prevent your eyes from drying out. During colder months, heating systems can lower indoor humidity levels, making a humidifier particularly beneficial in the winter.
4. Reduce screen time to avoid eye strain
Extended screen time can worsen dry eyes by reducing your blink rate. After contoura vision lasik surgery, it’s important to blink consciously and take regular breaks from screens to avoid eye strain. A good practice is to follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps stimulate blinking and allows your eyes to rehydrate. Limiting screen time during the first few weeks post-surgery is crucial, but if your job involves prolonged screen use, make sure to blink often and use artificial tears regularly.
5. Keep your eyes protected from Wind and Sun
Exposure to wind, sun, and dust can dry out your eyes and slow the healing process after surgery. Wearing sunglasses outdoors helps shield your eyes from these elements and minimizes tear evaporation. Wrap-around sunglasses are especially beneficial as they provide extra protection by blocking wind from directly hitting your eyes.
Following these practices will contribute to a more comfortable recovery and promote lasting eye health. If your dry eyes symptoms continue or get worse, connect with your eye surgeon for additional treatment options.

Blood in Eyes: Is It Alarming If Your Eye’s White Has Turned Scary Red?
Eye bleeding usually refers to bleeding or a ruptured blood vessel involving the tissue layers on the eye’s outer surface and is termed a subconjunctival hemorrhage. You can have patches or areas of red in your eye, or the entire white part of your eye might appear red or bloodshot.
A less frequent type of eye bleeding can happen in the central, colored part of your eye, called hyphemia. Redness can occasionally result from eye bleeding that is deeper or at the rear of the eye.
There are numerous causes of eye bleeding. Most of the time, blood won’t drip from your eye.
Depending on where the bleeding occurs in the eye, it may be harmless or it could cause serious problems if left untreated. If you suspect that your eyes may be bleeding, you should consult a doctor.
What may cause bleeding eyes?
The conjunctiva is the term for the transparent membrane that covers the surface of the eye. Rapid pressure increases have the potential to cause rupture or leakage of the conjunctiva’s tiny blood vessels.
An individual might not detect a subconjunctival hemorrhage until they look in the mirror. There are no other symptoms, such as pain, edema, or vision loss.
Causes for the red spot on the eye frequently include:
Sneezing
Coughing
Straining
Vomiting
Wearing contact lenses
Experiencing an allergic reaction
Few medical conditions
Having high blood pressure
Damage to the eye (trauma)
Rubbing eye vigorously
Lifting something heavy
Jerking your head suddenly
Excessive straining while using the restroom
Use of blood thinners like aspirin or coumadin
What are the risk factors for bleeding eyes?
The risk factors for a subconjunctival hemorrhage include:
Diabetes
High blood pressure
Certain blood-thinning medications
Blood-clotting disorders
How is a bleeding eye diagnosed?
Your doctor can tell you have a subconjunctival hemorrhage just by looking at your eye. They will inquire about your general health, including any wounds.
To be sure you do not have a serious eye bleeding condition, you might need some additional tests, such as:
Blood tests
Blood pressure test
Pupil dilation
Ultrasound scan
CT scan
How are bleeding eyes treated?
Depending on what caused the eye to bleed, a person may require therapy.
Subconjunctival hemorrhage generally doesn’t require treatment. The time it takes for a region to heal could be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. But if an underlying medical problem is the reason, it needs to be treated then.
Artificial tears, available through pharmacies, drugstores, and online vendors, can be used to ease dryness or irritation.
An eyedrop antibiotic prescription may be given if a bacterial infection is the reason for the red spot.
People shouldn’t be worried if the red blood spot in their eye changes color from red to yellow or orange. This suggests that the bleeding may be beginning to mend and might gradually fade away with time, much like a bruise.
Most red spots heal on their own without the need for medical attention. Depending on how big it is, it may take a few days or months to go away, and there is no way to speed up this process.
What can you do for self-care?
With the help of cold packs and over-the-counter artificial tears, any swelling and discomfort can be lessened.

ReLEx SMILE vs. LASIK: Advanced Vision Correction Technologies at Shinagawa Singapore
At Shinagawa Singapore, we offer both ReLEx SMILE and LASIK procedures, providing cutting-edge solutions for vision correction. Each technology has unique benefits tailored to different visual needs and lifestyles.
ReLEx SMILE is a minimally invasive procedure known for its quick recovery time and the ability to correct vision without creating a corneal flap. This makes it an excellent option for patients with higher prescriptions, thinner corneas, or those who engage in contact sports. SMILE involves a small incision through which lenticular tissue is removed, correcting refractive errors with minimal disruption to the corneal surface.
LASIK, on the other hand, is well-established and favored for its precision and versatility. It corrects a broad range of vision problems by creating a thin flap to reshape the cornea with an excimer laser. LASIK is renowned for its rapid visual recovery and high patient satisfaction.
Choosing between ReLEx SMILE and LASIK at Shinagawa Singapore depends on your specific vision requirements and personal preferences. Our expert team is here to guide you through the decision-making process, ensuring the best fit for your eyes and lifestyle. Visit our website to learn more about these innovative vision correction options.

Minimally Invasive Procedure:
As compared to PRK and LASIK surgery, the SMILE is less invasive. During the LASIK surgery, a corneal flap of 20 mm is created while in PRK, an incision of 8-mm is created. In the SMILE, the vision is corrected by creating only a 3 mm incision.
No formation of flap:
Although LASIK surgery is a highly safe procedure complication may arise in a few patients because of the flap creation. SMILE does not cause flap formation and thus, is safer, as compared to LASIK.
Make the Smart Choice
Choosing SMILE LASIK in Delhi is more than just a medical decision—it's a step towards a clearer, more vibrant life. With top-tier clinics, expert care, and the latest technology, Delhi stands out as a premier destination for this advanced vision correction procedure.
