it got turned into a 17" x14" pillow instead haha
#rug hooking#artists on tumblr#fiber art#hnnnndgf the way the phone photo colors don't match up with how I see it is driving me a little nuts#every time but oh well >:'D#like the greens aren't as dull looking or as sharply contrasted in the detail photos#I'm glad I hoarded/saved the yarn that I precut for latchhook (which I abandoned after learning about rug hooking lmao)#because it makes for a very squishy pillow#(but also I think I def. could've stuffed in a litttle bit more before sewing it closed + didn't have a lot left)#blocked like...three other things when I was blocking this one#and the ones with non wool/funky materials were completely fine so that's nice to know haha#the back is an old flannel topsheet that nobody was using#anyways -knocks the fuck out-#edit: bb nephew recognized it as a cat so all is well/it passed hahah#also whoever said in tags that it looks great sensory wise to touch (or something like that my brain's a little fried still hhshs)#they are correct lMAO (even in general/ non pillow form I keep scrubbing my hands over them haha)#and when I was making the pillow I kept squishing it#muffled laugh

Scrap Along 2025
Hello. Scrap Along 2025 begins later this week on Friday, February 14, and runs 30 days through the Ides of March (March 15). Just make something from leftover yarn and post it on social media with the tag #ScrapAlong2025
The idea for this grew out of comments left back and forth with Hidden Pond Yarns when I posted about being inspired by knitters to make a scrappy Musselburgh hat. Katya in turn is inspired to try scrappy knitting herself, and it reminded me of how much of my life is the result of other people's participation.
Right now, of course, a lot of people have the urgent, immediate need to piece their lives back together from what's left of family, friends, jobs, home, food, healthcare, their very identities. It makes the idea of a spontaneous project that's one of a kind and absolutely gorgeous as much an act of defiance as it is community and creativity.
If you use yarn to crochet, embroider, felt (I made a list) knit, latch hook, macrame, nalbind, needlepoint, tat, weave, and any other yarn craft I left out, you can scrap along.
Post your results and progress with the tag #ScrapAlong2025. Tag the dyer if you can, and the yarn shop where you made the purchase. They should know we're using their yarn. Add alt tags to your photos. It's important for accessibility and searching.
But most of all, have a great time.
Thanks.

someone stop me before i get it into my head that trying to crochet a granny square blanket is a good idea
#i barely know anything about crocheting#i won't have supervision#I've also heard that granny squares are easy but liable to end up with a bunch of pointless squares#bc you'll never get to making enough to actually make a blanket since it's the same motion a million times#but then again i also enjoy latchhook which raspy is the exact same thing over and over#even if you have different patterns the only difference is the colors bc the motions never ever change#so#maybe i could do it#👀#but... what colors?#would i want to do a generic granny square colored blanket or smth pride related or smth fandom related?#hm#shh ac#.......... i don't know where my crochet hooks are :(#they may be in the big box.... they've got to be somewhere in my den anyway

a video i saw said yarnspirations has rights to the latchhook brand Wonderart so their supplies are now on their website. dunno if that's a legal thing as to why a michaels store doesn't carry it anymore or not. kinda wild cos i've seen latchhook on the rise lately as people are discovering it for the first time
bruh.
the absolute FUCKING shade.. of michaels
i cannot believe they pulled a tumblr 'welcome home traitors' to the twitter/insta/reddit refugees shit.
and it's WILD for them to say the have the essentials like gorl if u had the essentials.. people would've shopped at ur store rather than joann LOL do u have fabric? do u have the wide selection of yarn? do u have have baking products? embroidery? cricut supplies and accessories? likely a bit of most of that but no where near the scale that joann had.
their boldness in this 'marketing' is crazy lol (and not necessarily in a positive way for me bc these CEO's keep throwing shade like this thinking it's a flex, esp in this very serious situation to people's indie businesses that are in jeopardy now in many ways is not really it for me. this gives me ick from michaels and makes me not want to support them but they're the only yarn shop we have nearby now so.. i've heard they're ALSO not in an amazing position so it's even more wild to be like 'hah stick it joann'. we should not be celebrating the loss of such a resource anyway. we're probably about to lose a lot more brick and mortar shops barely hanging on.
another example of companies 'flexing' is i've seen at least two companies making shady 'hiring now' signs as if people are lazy, don't want to work and they're not just actively denying eligible people either to letting robots filter out what doesn't perfectly match their impossible criteria or they're putting fake job listings up to prevent people from actually being able to get jobs so they can continue going 'well people just don't wanna work we're not able to hire people cos they're not putting in applications'. sick of CEOs thinkin they're clever when they're actual ghouls)

after about a week of work, i proudly present...
doll rowan!!

i made him completely by hand, and crocheted the doll base, his clothes, and latchhooked his hair (which took AAAGES). i also added some beads for the cuffs in his locs, although i haven't found a good way to keep them in, so he only has a couple for now :)))) i will also be crocheting his iconic red shirt once i get around to it.
also a bonus of him taking a nap under my mlp covers :P he deserves a little sleep, poor guy. unfortunately i have the camera quality of a brick, so these are the best photos i could get. do know that he is loved and taken care of in my hands!!!

@bluewoolf i hope this is enough of art to tag you in!!!

well its why i didnt leave my first relationship, just when i got knocked up and was horrified to start a family with her i did
How did you become the god(dess) of wind?
Did you just pop out the womb with clouds for hair?
Were you given your domain?
Did you just ask Zeus for a job one day?
hi ml <3 i missed you :3 and yea i did pop out with blue skin and cloud hair and whenever i cried the winds picked up and when i was calmed down they would calm and they continued to reflect my emotions until i learned to control them, i got full control of the winds around 22 which is why im perma 22, and thats why zeus liked me so much bc we were both weather gods and he cares for everyone but his children :D
#aclyone’s other parent#also watching clue rn#on an 80s movie day with my latchhooking since im out of school for menstrual reasons

posting a gift wip since I know my siblings aren't on here haha
#rug hooking#wip#purely personals#fabrication#older sis is getting a swan and bb sis is getting an otter#went out today and donated a bunch of yarn at an art supply swap thing#was nice that they had small amounts of yarn/not full skeins that other people donated#because I don't really need a whole ass skein especially if it's solid color#I just want bits and pieces so I can do stuff like the swan background#like this a lot more than latchhook; like latchhook would be pixel art and rug hooking is more like drawing/more freeform#oH it's also nice that all that yarn I prechopped for latchhook I can still use for rug hooking haha#also went to a fabric store and it was crammed full of stuff and the yarn selection was actually really nice#will def go back

Scrap Along 2025

Welcome to the first day of Scrap Along 2025! 🥳
It’s an opportunity for yarn crafters of all kinds—crochet, embroidery, felting, knitting, latch hook, macrame, nalbinding, needlepoint, tatting, weaving, and any I missed—to create with leftover yarn and share their scrappy gorgeousness online.
Tag your posts with #ScrapAlong2025. If you can, tag the dyer and/or LYS that sold it. Please use alt tags on your images.
In conclusion… “These are little scraps of magic & when you paste them together you get a memory of something fine & strong, she said. Sometimes it takes till you’re 40 to see it though.” – Brian Andreas

I'm currently working on a latch hook project. I haven't done latch hook in years, but I went to Joann to check out the closing sales and saw this one and decided to get it. I'm going to try to complete one square a day so hopefully it goes fast!

prepping for a market? wanna just make some cute little guys for yourself and some friends? here's the basic instructions lowdown
i made them each a little different. kinda made them up as i went.
(idk how to formally write patterns so i hope someone can make sense of this.)
materials used: 3.5mm hook and worsted yarn. flat sided marbles. dollartree snap barrettes. pony/kandi beads
gecko: started at snoot with mr+4. then inc to 6. then inc to 12. do another round of 12 and put the marble in. then dc to 6. then add the arms while inc to 8. stay at 8 for 6 more rows (enough to cover the barrette) put the barrette inside then add the legs while dc to 6. then sew the sides shut by dc them to 3. then chain 15. slip. single. put a bead on ur hook, single, bead on hook, single, all the way back to the body. then ch1 turn and sc, ch1, sc into all the bead spaces. all the way to the end, ch2, sip, ch1 sc, ch1, sc, thru all the bead spaces back up to the body. cut and weave tail in
u can experiment with different tail lengths. i thought 5 beads was pretty. the arms were ch5, slip, ch2, slip, ch2, slip back to body. embroider some eyes.
the skeleton was made starting with limbs: 2x ch35, set aside. then with white yarn: mr+6. inc to 12, stay at 12, add marble, dc to 6, switch to black. stay at 6. plop arms on, crochet around them while inc to 8. stay at 8 for 4 more rows. switch to white, sc8, plop legs on, crochet around them while crocheting sides together and dc to 2. add all the beads and embroidery.
for the clown: 2x ch30, set aside. ch4 and sc all around it so u have 8 in an oval. put legs thru some stitches and stay at 8 till its big enough and put the barrette in it. then place arms on and crochet around them while decreasing to 6. then FLO [sc, ch1, sc] in every stitch. cut and weave end. attach white yarn to backloop. inc all. stay at 12 til the marble fits. dc to 6. cut and weave hole shut. add hair with the overhang knot or latchhook method. embroider face and add beads and fun stuff. i made a shooting star button that kinda comes all the way off but some knots prevent it. so u can tug on it like u can the arms and legs.
be careful when embroidering the body to not interfere with the arms and leg strands. give them a tug test a lot. i had to redo the skeleton like 4 times cuz i kept sewing the arm to the body. (which u can do if u dont want them to pull/tug.)
if u make some i wanna see pix :3
#crochet#keychain dolls#i wanna call them whippersnappers lol#free crochet pattern#cute things to make when u have no fancy plastic eyes or stuffing but other random stuff instead
