A work of Art: Terrifier 2 Review
Tumblr media
Pictured above is the “Terrifier 2 poster”. Image credit: CINEDIGM, iconic events releasing, SCREAMBOX, and BloodyDisgusting
9 years ago, A soon-to-be horror icon was born, and his name is Art the Clown who was previously played by Mike Gianelli in the film “All Hallows Eve”. Art the Clown is a character I have been wanting to talk about on this blog for a while and I’m so happy to be getting an opportunity to talk about this character who is currently played by David Howard Thornton.  This review is going to be in two sections, my spoiler free thoughts on the movie and my spoiler filled thoughts on it. So, here we go.
Terrifier 2 is a 2022 horror film directed by Damien Leone (All Hallows Eve, All Hallows Eve 2, and Terrifer) who also produced this movie. The cast includes David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, Lauren LaVera as Sienna Shaw, Elliott Fulham as Jonathan Shaw, Sarah Voigt as Barbara Shaw, Amelie McLain as The Little Pale Girl / Emily Crane, Chris Jericho as Burke, Kailey Hyman as Brooke, Casey Hartnett as Allie, Charlie McElveen as Jeff, Johnnath Davis as Ricky, Amy Russ as Allie’s mother, Cory DuVal as Coroner, Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria “Vicky” Heyes, Griffin Santopietro as Eric, Owen Myre as Sean, Felissa Rose as Ms. Principe, Tamara Glynn as Shopping mother, and Nedim Jahić as Travis Bryant.
The plot:
After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to Miles County where he begins to target a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween.
Spoiler free section:
Positives- One of the many positives I have about Terrifer 2 is the use of practical effects. I must give props to the makeup department as they did an amazing job with the blood and gore in this movie (That probably makes me sound like a sick person) as there is one scene where I wanted to look away but couldn’t. Don’t worry, we will discuss that scene in the spoiler section of this review. For a movie with a low budget, the practical effects look amazing compared to CGI in other movies…but that is just my opinion.
The second positive I have about Terrifer 2 is that the acting was better than part 1, now don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the first one, hell I own it. But the acting in this movie was a step up. David Howard Thornton is a scene stealer every time he is on screen as Art the Clown. He can make you feel afraid and some scenes he will make you laugh (or cry if you are afraid of clowns…) Lauren LaVera is great in the role of Sienna, her performance makes you root for the character and she makes smart decisions in a world where horror characters rarely do that (unless you’re name isn’t Laurie Strode from “Halloween” or Erin from “You’re Next”).
Tumblr media
Pictured above is David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown
The third and final positive I have about Terrifer 2 is that it is entertaining. It is a throwback to super gory horror movies of the 80’s-90’s with it’s use of practical effects and David Howard Thornton’s performance as Art the Clown…you will not be bored. I’m glad that a movie with a budget of $250,000 earned $11.3 million at the box office and is getting plenty of attention from the internet, news channels, and daytime talk shows which is shocking considering the content that is in this movie.
Stay for the post credit scene.
Negatives:
I surprisingly have two negatives for this movie and that is we don’t learn about Art’s backstory and his motivations. We get hints throughout the movie…but it doesn’t pay off. Another negative I have is the lack of character development. With a runtime of 2 hours and 18 minutes, you would expect some character development. But, don’t let these negatives affect your experience of viewing Terrifier 2 as it has rewatch value.
Spoilers
You are now entering the spoiler section of this review if you didn’t see Terrifier 2…avoid this section of this review. If you have seen Terrifer 2 or don’t want to see it, feel free to read this section.
Thank you
So, Earlier I talked briefly about a certain scene in the movie where I wanted to look but couldn’t and that is the bedroom scene. In this scene Art the Clown brutally mutilates Allie to the point of beyond recognition and he pours salt and bleach on her body (ouch). Art the Clown breaks her arms like how I break chicken wings to get the meat (I’m sorry that I put that image in your head dear reader.) There were a lot of crunching noises in that scene. There was a second scene I wanted to look away from the screen and that was the post credit scene and, in this scene, Victoria writes “Vicky + Art” with her blood (I’m not even going to say where the blood comes from). After this she gives birth to Art’s head and my reaction to this was “What the hell?!”.
My overall thoughts:
After watching this movie, I have to say that this movie delivers on the bloody ultraviolence Art the Clown is known for, while giving us likeable characters and great acting from the cast. Also, this might be the scariest movie I have seen all year (so far).
What did you think about Terrifier 2?
Feel free to leave a comment.
Where to watch Terrifer 2?
Terrifer 2 can currently be watched on ScreamBox, Digital Retailers, and the Blu-Ray and DVD coming on December 27th,2022.

Hartley heads Toyota front row lockout over Ferraris in the Algarve | World Endurance Championship
Brendon Hartley secured Toyota their first pole position of the WEC season ahead of the Six Hours of Portimao, while Kamui Kobayashi ensured a front-row lockout for the manufacturer. Hartley’s best time of a 1’30.171 was enough to secure pole for the number eight car, two tenths quicker than the number seven. The two Ferrari 499Ps of numbers 50 and 51 will start behind the Toyotas, both over 1.5s slower than the pole time. When the session began, the Glickenhaus car driven by Romain Dumas was the first car to set a representative time, before the number eight Toyota driven by Brendon Hartley jumped immediately to the top of the times with a 1’30.480 – easily the quickest time of the weekend. The two Ferraris of number 50 with Nicklas Nielsen and James Calado’s number 51 car could not get within a second of the Toyota, before the second number seven Toyota piloted by Kamui Kobayashi moved to second, just over a quarter of a second slower than its team mate. With less than five laps remaining, Hartley pulled the number eight Toyota into the pit lane to end his session early. He was soon joined by Kobayashi in the second Toyota, leaving the number eight car on provisional pole position. Any threat of Toyota being ousted from the front row quickly evaporated as the two Ferraris also retired to the pit lane, joined by the two Porsche Penskes and the Cadillac car. As the final two minutes ticked down, only the two non-hybrid hypercars of the Glickenhaus and the Vanwall remained on track. Frederic Makowiecki ventured out in the number five Porsche with under two minutes remaining, but did not have enough time to begin a final flying lap. As the chequered flag flew, the number eight Toyota was confirmed on pole position, with Kobayashi’s best lap in the number seven car securing an all-Toyota front row. The two Ferraris of number 50 and 51 will start third and fourth on the grid, with the two Porsche Penskes split by the number 94 Peugeot behind. The Cadillac car will start from eighth on the grid ahead of the second number 93 Peugeot, with the two non-hybrid hypercars of Glickenhaus and Vanwall completing the hypercar order. Prema took pole position in the LMP2 class with the number 63 car, but are under investigation by the stewards after receiving emergency rear bodywork repairs in the pit lane while waiting for the session to begin. In GTE Am, Corvette will start on pole after Ben Keating set the quickest time in the sole C8.R in the field, two tenths of a second faster than the Iron Dames Ferrari. The Doom Generation (1995) Directed by Gregg Araki
Teen-aged stoner, Jordan White (James Duval) and his sexy, angry girl, Amy Blue (Rose McGowan) pick up trigger-happy hitchhiker, Xavier Red (Johnathon Schaech) while out for a drive on what they were sure would be another boring night in gritty L.A.
As the evening unfoldsthey run into all manner of psycho characters—several of which seem to confuse Amy with ‘someone else,’ or so she assures her companions.
Initially—Xavier develops an interest in much younger Amy and the two go so far as to have sex on the same bed Jordan is ‘fast asleep’ on.
However—the bisexual Xavier is also attracted to Jordan, who is beautiful and sexy, in his own right. The boy is also naive and sexually confused.
** Favorite Scene **
Xavier peeps through the cracked bathroom door as Jordan and Amy have sex in the tub.
Xavier is well within the throes of his masturbating frenzy when he seems to zero in less on Amy and more on Jordan—eventually ejaculating all over his hand.
Much to his audience’s delight—he proceeds to slurp the salty, sticky baby-batter from his fingers then finishes the session by licking the rest off his palm—quite a wonder to behold.
🥵
While Duval & McGowan get top billing in this film—Schaech’s raw sexual energy steals the show.
There are also several cameos by once-famous television stars such as Lauren Tewes (Love Boat) and Christopher Knight (Brady Bunch).
This deliciously violent and kinky film is a must-see!

SAG > Oscars Different Winners
I saw some comments on the last post that wondered on the frequency of occurrence. Didn't want to hijack that post, but below is a breakdown of when the winner of the SAG Award was different than won the Oscar (list was put together quickly, and different submissions made things difficult)
I tabulated that a POC winning a SAG but not receiving the Oscar happened 30%* when there was different winner. (*Sometimes people were nominated in different categories, but I still counted it). Unsurprisingly, it happens much more frequently than the opposite (10%).
Best Actor List SAG > Oscar
·         Chadwick Boseman > Anthony Hopkins
·         Denzel Washington > Casey Affleck
·         Johnny Depp > Sean Penn
·         Benicio del Toro > Russell Crowe*
*Del Toro’s role in Traffic nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars which he won
Best Actress SAG > Oscar
·         Lily Gladstone > Emma Stone
·         Viola Davis > Frances McDormand
·         Viola Davis > Meryl Streep
·         Meryl Streep > Kate Winslet*
*Kate Winslet’s nomination for the SAG was Best Actress for Revolutionary Road, and Best Supporting Actress for The Reader. For the Oscars Kate Winslet was nominated Best Actress for the Reader, no acting nomination for her role in Revolutionary Road
·         Julie Christie > Marion Cotillard
·         Renee Zellweger > Nicole Kidman
·         Annette Bening > Hilary Swank
·         Jodie Foster > Jessica Lange
Best Supporting Actor SAG > Oscar
·         Idris Elba* > Mark Rylance
*Elba not nominated for the Oscars
·         Tommy Lee Jones > Christoph Waltz*
*Waltz not nominated for SAG.
·         Eddie Murphy > Alan Arkin
·         Paul Giamatti > George Clooney
·         Christopher Walken > Chris Cooper
·         Ian McKellen > Jim Boradbent
·         Albert Finney > Benicio Del Toro*
*Del Toro’s role in Traffic for the SAG was for Best Actor (captured above)
·         Robert Duvall > James Coburn
·         Ed Harris > Kevin Spacey
Best Supporting Actress SAG à Oscar
·         Emily Blunt* > Regina King*
*Blunt not nominated for and Oscar. King not nominated for a SAG
·         Kate Winslet* > Penelope Cruz
*Same year mentioned above where Winslets role in The Reader was in different categories for the awards
·         Ruby Dee >Tilda Swinton
·         Helen Mirren > Jennifer Connelly*
*Connelly’s role in A Beautiful Mind was up for Best Actress for the SAG, but Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars
·         Judi Dench > Marcia Gay Harden*
*Harden’s role in Pollock not nominated for a SAG
·         Kathy Bates > Judi Dench
·         Kim Basinger & Gloria Stuart* > Kim Basinger
*There was a tie at the SAG awards
·         Lauren Bacall > Juliette Bionche

Congress to vote on federal bill requiring schools to out trans kids to their parents
The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a bill that could restrict materials available in school libraries and require schools to get parental consent before referring to a trans or nonbinary child with the correct pronouns and first name. H.R. 5, the “Parents Bill of Rights Act,” would require schools to list all “books and other reading materials available in the library” on a website or another place that parents can access. The provision echoes debates in school board meetings over the past several years over books by LGBTQ+ authors and about racism that many conservative parents have sought to ban, but the bill does not call for banning any book in particular. --- Related Stories School district slaps warning labels on books with LGBTQ characters Even the innocuous picture book “Everywhere Babies” got a warning label “like something you might see on a cigarette package.” --- The bill contains a list of information that schools must provide for parents in “an understandable format.” The list includes a “right to know if a school employee or contractor acts to change a minor child’s gender markers, pronouns, or preferred name; or allow a child to change the child’s sex-based accommodations, including locker rooms or bathrooms,” which would effectively require schools to out trans kids to their parents if they asked to be addressed with the correct pronouns or name. Schools will lose federal funding under the bill if they don’t obtain parental consent before using a student’s correct pronouns and name. Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) introduced an amendment requiring schools to alert parents if a trans student is allowed to use girls’ facilities or join a girls’ school sports team. The long list also includes a few broad demands on schools, like that they make “the curriculum” of the school available to parents, as well as “any professional development materials” and “any plans to eliminate gifted and talented programs.” “Republicans are making a mockery out of parents’ rights and parent voice,” said National Parents Union President Keri Rodrigues, which opposes the bill. “This Republican bill is asking the government to force the outing of LGBT people before they are ready,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said in a floor debate on the bill, which she called “the Republican party’s attempt to take some of the most heinous legislation that we are seeing passed on the state level to attack our trans and LGBT, as well as people from marginalized communities’, right to exist in schools.” The bill “includes two provisions that require schools to out trans, nonbinary, and LGBT, even if it would put said youth in harm’s way,” she continued. “One of the highest rates of youth homelessness is in the LGBT community from parents who want to kick their children out.” AOC: I think we are seeing here today is the Republican party's attempt to take some of the most heinous legislation that we are seeing passed on the state level to attack our trans and lgbt, as well as people from marginalized communities right to exist in schools pic.twitter.com/bcpULa5zx2— Acyn (@Acyn) March 23, 2023 She brought up similar legislation passed by some states and said that opening up schools to more challenges to books in libraries and the curriculum, which she said led to a proposed ban on a book called The Life of Rosa Parks. “This apparently is too woke by the Republican Party,” she said, referring to how the book was banned in Duval County, Florida, possibly because it described racism faced by Black people in the United States. This apparently is too woke by the Republican Party pic.twitter.com/vvI9YJw0hQ— Acyn (@Acyn) March 23, 2023 While the bill could pass the Republican-controlled House, it is not expected to pass the Democratic Senate. The only LGBTQ+ member of Congress to come out in support of the bill is Rep. George Santos (R-NY), who is a co-sponsor of the bill. http://dlvr.it/SlV97r

WEC confirms 13 Hypercar entries for 2023 season | World Endurance Championship
The full season entry list for the 2023 World Endurance Championship has been published, and features 13 cars in the top Hypercar class. Toyota return to defend their 2022 title with the all-star line-up of Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa. The second GR010 Hybrid will be driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, who won the title together in 2020 and ‘21. Their main 2022 rival Alpine, which raced a grandfathered LMP1 car, are gone, but Toyota now face opposition from several other manufacturers. The most anticipated new entry is Ferrari, who have filled their 499P prototypes by promoting several of their GT stars and also giving a second chance to their Formula 1 reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi after he failed to land an F1 seat for 2023. Cadillac, who are planning to enter F1 with Andretti Autosport but have that team’s arch rival Chip Ganassi Racing running their Hypercar, have brought 2017 WEC champion Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook across from their IMSA line-up. ByKolles Racing meanwhile has had its Vanwall-branded car accepted as an entry and with a crew consisting of Formula V8 3.5 champion Tom Dillmann, World Touring Car ace Esteban Guerrieri and 1997 F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve. Despite his race-winning experience in prototype sports car racing, Dillmann is rated as a Gold driver by the FIA rather than a Platinum like his team mates and the majority of the Hypercar entry list. Penske will run two of the four Porsche 963s There will be four of the new Porsche 963s, and run by three different teams. Team Penske are running two ‘factory’ entries in affiliation with Porsche, and their line-up includes the likes of WEC GTE Am class champion Kevin Estre, Formula E’s Andre Lotterer and one of Porsche’s leading GT stars Laurens Vanthoor. Jota Sport’s line-up is led by Euroformula Open and European Le Mans Series champion Yifei Ye. Proton Competition have two-times WEC GTE Pro champion Gianmaria Bruni on their books. Their team mates are yet to be confirmed. Peugeot have two full-time entries and both are being run in-house. In the first car is former F1 driver Paul di Resta, IMSA LMP2 champion Mikkel Jensen and two-times FE champion Jean-Eric Vergne, and the second car will be piloted by 2013 World Endurance champion Loic Duval, 2016 WEC LMP2 champion Gustavo Menezes and DTM star Nico Muller, a continuation of the line-up the team finished 2022 with. The final Hypercar entry is Glickenhaus Racing. The American team so far only have two-times Le Mans 24 Hours winner Romain Dumas signed to drive their car. The official entry list published today also included 11 LMP2 entries and 14 in the LMGTE Am class. The new WEC season will begin at Sebring in March.
