Lm393 LDR Sensor Module
The LM393 LDR Sensor Module utilizes a superior LM393 voltage comparator. It can be easily installed and features a sensitive photosensitive resistance sensor, providing a clean and precise waveform for the comparator output signal.
The adjustable potentiometer allows for a driving ability of 15mA and can regulate the brightness of the detected light. This module operates within a working voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, producing a digital switch output. Its sensitivity to light makes it suitable for detecting ambient brightness and intensity.
In the absence of light or sufficient intensity, the DO output will be at a high level. On the other hand, if the light surpasses this value, the DO output will be low. The digital DO output can easily connect to a microcontroller which can then detect whether it is at a high or low level, allowing for detection of changes in environmental light.
This board’s digital output DO port allows for direct connection with our relay modules, which are currently on sale in our store. Additionally, it can serve as a photoelectric switch. The analog output AO can be connected to an AD module for more accurate measurement of light intensity via the converter.
The Pin on the Interface:
The VCC is our power supply.
Ground, or GND for short.
The signal output in digital form.
The signal output is in analog form.
Powerful illumination, LED lighting, emitting a lower intensity.
Dim illumination, LED disabled, elevated output signal.
Adjustable is the sensitivity.
Characteristics of Lm393 LDR Sensor Module:
Included in the package are screws for mounting.
Simple to set up
Indicator light for signal output.
The 4 PIN LDR module.
Capable of sensing changes in surrounding light levels and adjusting sensitivity with the use of a blue digital potentiometer.
The digital switch output (0 and 1) is compatible with Arduino, Raspberry, and other microcontroller boards. It also has an analog voltage output (AO).

PCB of the day! Add oodles of analog inputs with an 8-channel ADC 🔌📊🔧
Many microcontrollers have ADCs these days for reading analog/resistive sensors like potentiometers, thermistors, LDR light sensors, etc., but sometimes you need MOAR! or maybe you're using a single board computer like a Raspberry Pi that has no ADCs at all…the ADS7830 is an affordable 8-channel ADC with I2C interface, so it's easy to include with any platform. There are 2 address pins, so you could have 4 x 8 = 32 total ADC channels with chain-able Stemma QT cables. You can get up to 70 Ksamples per second, but only 8-bits of resolution, so it's suitable for rough sensor measurements. This would be a great way to add a ton of potentiometers to a build, especially if it contained a Raspberry Pi, prototype coming soon!

DIRTY DRONE LOWLIFE - a subbass / drone / noise texture generator
Tumblr media
The Dirty Drone Lowlife is an experimental subbass and drone texture generator. It can be manually triggered by a TRIGGER button and externally with a TRIGGER/GATE input. The DECAY has a SHORT/LONG switch to select the range and a DECAY pot to fine tune it, from snappy to loooong. An orange LED indicates triggers and the decay (only dim with short triggers on long decay settings). With the DRONE toggle switch it can be set to play a constant drone sound as well. The sound's waveform is generated by two oscillators each with an array of possible settings: TRIANGLE/SQUARE and CLEAN/DIRTY toggle switches and of course a FREQUENCY control. Oscillator 1 has an additional OFFSET control, that can (in the range from 1.6V-2.6V) also get modulated by external control voltage via the CV input (with an orange indicator LED). Both oscillators are mixed with the BLEND control, that allows to shape the output waveform in a relatively linear manner, but the build in LDRs (Light Dependent Resistors) can also be used for that, when they are selected with the BLEND SELECT toggle switch, the user can ‘throw shade’ or ‘shine light’ on the build in sensors for a non-linear modulation of the oscillator BLEND. so it is possible to modulate the sound by hand gestures, for example. After that the signal runs through a resonant low pass filter with CUTOFF FREQUENCY, RESONANCE and SATURATION control. (please, keep in mind that in trigger mode it does not get completely quiet with no trigger.) In the end of the signal chain is a VOLUME control. Build into a die-cast aluminum enclosure painted with an unique 'burned out industry' camo pattern. Power-socket: 9V DC , 2,1mm DC jack boss-style (inside -/+ outside) PSU is NOT included. Handmade by GRM for METSÄÄN. Sold. Here’s demovideo of a previous build:

Open, closed, or nothing at all...☀️🪟
This week I was challenged with using the Servo and LDR to mimic blinds opening and closing based on the presence of light. I was also allowed to use the help of an AI Chatbot to code and help build the board.
I thought being able to use AI would make this task much simpler...Nah. This is my boards original wiring according to my AI results. This did not work AT ALL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

youtube
After redefining my instructions with the chatbot, I still found that using the Arduino starter site was more helpful!
This is the final WORKING code and UPDATED working video!

Tumblr media
I did ask the AI chatbot to give me some real-world applications as to how this could be used and it yielded some pretty interesting results. I am just including a few.
Sorting Machine: Create a system that sorts objects based on their reflectivity or color using light sensors.
Automated Greenhouse: Control ventilation, shading, and watering systems in a greenhouse based on sunlight and humidity.
This week was much harder than I anticipated. More failure than not but I was excited when it finally worked!
