Just found out Cindy Morgan has passed away. What an awful way to start the new year, as a TRON fan.
Rest in peace Cindy, you will be greatly missed. 😥

I think I've really figured out one of the core issues that's affected my everything for so many years.
I don't have a frame of reference for what's "good enough"
Like, I took my driving test, and my instructor proudly says "You scored a 93!" and without missing a beat my knee-jerk response was "Is that good?" Of course it is! It's a solid A grade! But that didn't even go through my head, just "bet that's out of some weird scale that's different from the base 100 that regular school uses, better ask her how badly you failed"
Truth be told I feel embarrassed about most of the things I've posted here and on other social media sites. Be it my long blocks of text, most of which have been deleted, my game screenshots, my scans of things like the Galidor style guide and comics, all of it is embarrassing. Not because of some selfconscious bs regarding a 28 year old guy messing around with kids toys or anything like that, there's zero shame there. I just don't know if any of it is "good enough"
and that's just the stuff that I've bothered posting! The youtube videos I've been meaning to make for like 6 years? the like 6 projects I've dipped a toe into and seemingly abandoned? I'm at a roadblock because I don't know if any of my efforts are "good enough". Good enough for who? By what standard? Is anyone else judging your work the same as you? All questions unasked, just paralyzing fear.
I had told LDSO's TronFAQ, a dude I massively respect, that I'd get him some screenshots of Tron 2.0 textures that might benefit from AI upscaling. I went to go do that, and quickly froze. Did a ton of thinking, and preparation, and more thinking, and more prep, and more thinking, inadvertently ruined my install of the game a couple times, and it's been I don't even know how long and I don't even have one screenshot.
I feel really bad about this one especially. How hard is it to play through your favorite game and hit the screenshot hotkey a few times? Apparently really fucking hard when anxiety disorders play into an inferiority complex you didn't even fully realize you had until a few days ago!
It's so stupid.
I want to say "I'm so stupid" but no this isn't me. This is a product of a number of things that aren't me. It's like I'm stuck in an invisible prison preventing me from being me. I'm glad I have this much figured out now, just wish I didn't have to fight myself to be myself

btw i always encourage people to play tron 2.0, which is why i share LDSO's posts about it being on sale every time it happens, but i know not everyone has the ability to play games like 2.0 for whatever reason. (if it's a computer issue, i promise you your computer can run tron 2.0, but if it's an ability issue, i understand). so if anyone has any recommendations for tron 2.0 playthroughs for people who want to experience the world/lore feel free to lmk who i should be recommending to people!

What if Mercury is Kernel's girl?
She is noising around the Kernel's workplace and suggests him what to do to Jet Bradley. And Kernel accepts it.
But then Mercury helps Jet to escape (and maybe she even falls in love with him but doesn’t tell that). This action is akin to betrayal.
But no one ICP hurts her after that. And Kernel does nothing to Mercury and lets her do whatever she wants. Mercury (before her reloading) was hurted by viruses but not by Kernel's soliders.

The longer I'm here the more scrapped Tron projects I find out about
Like JUST TODAY I found out about Tron 3.0???
So here's a list of all of the scrapped Tron projects I know off of the top of my head
Tron 1.5 - Don't think that's it's actual name but it's basically the cancelled Tron 2 from the 90s, the "real" name was Tron 2 rise of the virals. Apparently the soundtrack still exists?? Not sure if that's true or just the story of a fan soundtrack I found eons ago but nonetheless interesting to think about but take it with a grain of salt
Tron 3.0 - planned sequel to Tron 2.0. Had graphics made and everything, looked a lot like 2.0 visually. Potentially scrapped due to legacy development?? Thanks to @ldso-tron for the heads up on twitter!
Tron 3.0 - yeah there was another one. Prototype game for legacy that never came to be. Much thanks to LDSO for the heads up about this one too! You can read more about it in the thread
2d animated cartoon - Was proposed in the mid 2000s probably when legacy just entered development. Source went around a while ago but I CAN'T FIND IT FOR THE LIFE OF ME despite searching through both my blog and 3 months worth of the main tags (thanks tumblr search /s). Looked very angular from what I can remember and nay have been by the creator of My Life As A Teenage Robot, but since I can't find the source I can't verify that claim. There was DEFINITELY artwork shared though
Disney plus series - this one was the most recent to be cancelled and BOY DOES IT STING. We had no idea that it was being worked on or even proposed at all until it was cancelled
Tron 3 - Do I really need to explain this one
Mission day - a planned event from Tron run/r. On the walls of one of the stages there was text that read "MISSION DAY MAY 14". Anyways may 14th rolled around and nothing happened. @shes-an-iso reached out to Disney interactive support to see what the heck was going on, turns out it was "just for decoration" (or maybe Disney dropped out last minute)
I'm probably missing a few, but I felt that it was needed to catalog all of the scrapped Tron stuff in one place since I haven't seen it elsewhere. Feel free to add more if you have any! :) (or if you have the source to the cartoon network show!)

I’ve been spending most of my days reading up on what LDSO managed to gleam from the production of TRON 2.0, and coming across various projects that Disney horribly mismanaged or tried to change into something that it wasn’t.
The history behind Club Penguin (as this person knows it), for example is pretty interesting in a horribly depressing way. I never went there, but, it was right up there with NeoPets as a popular place for kids (and teens) in my then age demographic to hang out.
But, srsly, like, if you ever have an idea that takes off (be it a website or screenplay), for the love of mike, don’t ever sell your shit to Disney or a company like Disney. You can rest assured it’s gonna die a horrible death, become something other than itself, and they’ll shift the blame onto everything but themselves.

TRON games discounted up to 75% during the Steam Spring 2024 sale
Tumblr media
The Steam Spring 2024 sale has started, and TRON games are discounted up to 75% off until March 21, 2024!
TRON 2.0 ($2.49 USD): https://store.steampowered.com/app/327740/TRON_20/
TRON RUN/r ($9.99 USD for Ultimate Edition with all DLC): https://store.steampowered.com/app/392000/TRON_RUNr/
TRON Identity ($11.99 USD): https://store.steampowered.com/app/2109430/Tron_Identity/
While you can install and play the games as-is, I’d recommend checking out these guides on Steam if you want to experience the games at their best:
TRON 2.0 Steam guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=325088441
TRON RUN/r Steam guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=585222834
Even though the guides are hosted on the Steam site, the advice in the TRON 2.0 guide also applies to the GOG (and Retail disc) version. Modding the game will add support for widescreen display resolutions, and even fix the broken Multiplayer so you can play it again.
And, yes, all three games will work on any recent version of Windows. Including the latest releases of Windows 10 and 11.
Even the Retail disc (CD/DVD) version of TRON 2.0 can be made to work on Windows 10 and 11, if you follow the first two steps of advice in the Steam guide.
All three TRON games (2.0, RUN/r, Identity) can be played on the Steam Deck, too!

TRON 2.0 discounted 75% during Spring GOG 2024 Sale
TRON 2.0 is 75% off ($2.49 USD) at GOG.com during their Spring Sale until April 4, 2024!
Unlike the Steam version of TRON 2.0, this one is DRM-free. Meaning you can download a portable installer program, and install the game on as many computers as you like, as many times as you like. Without ever needing to be online to play, after downloading. (Well, unless you want to play Multiplayer, that is!)
While you can install and play the game as-is, I’d recommend checking out this guide on Steam:
Even though the guide is hosted on the Steam site, the advice there also applies to the GOG version. Modding the game will add support for widescreen display resolutions, and even fix the broken Multiplayer so you can play it again.
And, yes, any version of TRON 2.0 (Retail disc, Steam, GOG) will work on any version of Windows. Including the latest releases of Windows 10 and 11.
Even the Retail disc (CD/DVD) version of TRON 2.0 can be made to work on Windows 10 and 11, if you follow the first two steps of advice in the Steam guide.

TRON 2.0 still working fine on Windows 11 2023 Update (Version 23H2, Build 22631).
You can play Multiplayer if you install the current version 1.1a of the Killer App Mod on your Retail Disc/Steam/GOG copy.
This screenshot also contains another preview of Killer App Mod v1.2. Any differences in the game you may notice are still works-in-progress, and might not be final.

Do you have any questions for the Lead Programmer of TRON 2.0?
Hey everyone! If you have any questions for the Lead Programmer of the game TRON 2.0 at Monolith Productions, Kevin Lambert, reblog with your question and/or leave a reply here. I'll be doing an interview with Kevin soon, and I'll try to include as many fan questions as I can, in addition to my own. 🙂

My interview with the Lead Programmer of TRON 2.0 and Designer of the Light Cycles experience, Kevin Lambert, for the 20th Anniversary of TRON 2.0.
You'll have to pardon me for constantly stumbling over my words, I was nervous during the entire interview.
Also did my best to clean up the audio. I don't have professional recording equipment, just a cheap headset with a microphone. Removed as much as I could of clicks, pops, hiss, breathing, clipping, and so on. But there was only so much I could do, and the final result definitely isn't perfect. You can still expect some distracting noise.
I can't thank Kevin enough for agreeing to do this. I'd like to try interviewing other Monolith Productions staff – who worked on TRON 2.0 – in the future, too.
I also want to thank @thedavetron (Senior Manager of Quality Assurance at Buena Vista Interactive, at the time TRON 2.0 was released) and Andrew Borman (Digital Games Curator at the Museum of Play).
Here's a link to the written version. It's not a word-for-word transcript, but rather summarizes the interview.
