I do like other games fun fact!!! Darkstalkers is probs one of my favorite fighting games. One of the few I’m ok at lol (TwT ;). But yeah, I play as Lord Raptor and he’s a silly guy fr.
This is the whole Zabel page :3. I like to think Lord Raptor is like a stage name and Zabel Zarock is his actual name. It makes sense in the context that he’s a metal artist I guess. Also what is up with his birth year being listed as like 1889 everywhere? That does not make any sense in the context that he’s a metal artist 💀💀💀💀💀💀.
The next two are based on some of his early concept designs. Changed to look more like say alternate costumes for him cause some of these are wildly different not just outfit wise from the design that we got.
This one is by far my favorite, it’s him in that Midnight Bliss outfit lol. It looks nice on him. I actually have the midnight bliss figure of him :D (sadly one of his only pieces of merch dies in all of the characters I like have little to no merch)!!! I don’t see much fan art of his human-ish form, but then again I don’t see much fan art of him at all now that I think about it—
There’s some text in this zoom in spot! The top left one says “I’m fucking balling!”, the one below it says “Oi, wtf”, and his shirt says oh uh well um I shan’t say it (Cannibal Corpse song title 💀). There’s also one doodle on here that requires context cause it seems edgy for no reason, but it is based on an official art of him!!!!!! Aaaa I wish you could put more than 10 photos so I could show it.
This was an attempt at drawing a sprite of his but oh my god I cannot draw people looking up to save my life 💀💀💀. There’s some Le Malta doodles tho, he’s cool. Just a little dude! I like how Le Malta was technically employed by Ozom to spy on Zabel to make sure he wasn’t plotting against him (he very much was lmao) and he just totally was like “yeah I hate Ozom’s ass too” and decided to be friends with him instead. The Darkstalkers lore is great and hilarious I promise—
These two are just shitposts (the big dude in the background of the second one is Ozom btw Aka the guy that reanimated him). And the last two are just from playing around with one of those insert character/series text box generator websites.
Yeah anyway, great game, I should probably draw more about it, but the Simon and also that RPG Maker project I was working on have both taken over my life d(*´ω`*). (Also stress but yeah—)
#Darkstalkers#darkstalkers fanart#my art#art post#lord raptor#zabel zarock#the silly zombie guy#le malta#uh um uh yeah so uh#I never have any idea how to tag anything#fighting games#Capcom#yeah I guess that works?#anyway he’s fun to draw#also absolutely hilarious that like all of his lore is either completely contradictory or unexplained#80s metalhead? yeah he’s from the 1880s.#I have no idea how to explain the story of Darkstalkers in this short of a space#it’s wild everything happens#the first one is like big alien guy crashes in the ocean and local vampire man decides he’s gonna punch him for some reason#the second one is like more where Morrigan ends up the main character I think I might be misremembering#it’s basically about monster politics in the third game mostly lol#jedah is really bad at being an emperor#there’s only really three games and then Capcom absolutely killed the franchise for no reason 💀💀💀#if there’s anything I feel extremely strongly about in this series it’s that Udon comics SUCKS they obviously did not get the games at all#I HATE Udon comics all my homies DESPISE udon comics#Udon comics is essentially character misrepresentation/assasination central if you didn’t know#every page is a “’they would not fucking say/do that’ moment especially for Morrigan and Lord Raptor R.I.P. Morrigan fans honestly#anyway hehehe I made that red mark thingy on his chest top scars mwahahaha >:) I have the power to do anything—#(keeping that tag towards the bottom so there is incredibly low risk that family members see it eee aaa oof)

Zabel Zarock
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh wait, I do have designs of Zabel for Cryas Darkstalkers. However, after some thought, I will likely change his design some more. I do love the idea I have for his hair and general shape. However, I would like to add more to give him that feel of a metal head. Some accessories and stuff and change some aspects of his clothing. But yeah, marvel at the Death Rocker. Also Le Malta is there. He is a funny blorbo. Also, he is an Inkai Beast.

It’s come to my attention that the original upload I made for “Zabel’s Funeral March,” left out an extra minute of content. So I went back and added it back in. I also went ahead and redid the video.
And in case Youtube doesn’t like this being up, it will also be available on the manga drive.
I hope you all enjoy!

Dear Mr. Gaiman, I saw your Wired interview on mythology support on YouTube, and I would like to ask a question regarding mythological studies if I may: being a British white man as you are, is it okay to study Christianity's mythologies like it's a set of story elements that can be treated as decorationa of commerical products like video games, comic books and novels, or is Christianity something that cannot be toyed with with a light attitude for a Westerner? I'm East Asian myself (my first language is Mandarin and my family is Buddhist) and in East Asia mythological elements are talked about like material to be used in video game design or storytelling, and I know that that can be troubling for the truly Christian communities. So basically what I'd like to ask you is your view on the propiety of using biblical references in commercial fiction or products, especially with regards to taboos like the names of demons, which is often seen in Japanese video games and popular media. Is it okay to view such usage as harmless to the audience such as children or teens?
Good question. I don't know. I was a Jewish kid who was a scholarship kid at a Church of England school, the kind with chapel services every morning, so I was more familiar with High Church Protestant songs and services than with Jewish ones. I was top of the class, always, in religious studies, even though for me they were all just more mythology.
I suspect that my attitude was "if I have to learn this then it's mine to use". If they didn't want me to use it, they were free not to teach it to me.
When Terry Pratchett and I wrote Good Omens, we put a lot of Christianity into it, with me being the one that had actually read the Revelation of St John of Patmos, and made notes on what we needed to include. Good Omens began as humorous look at The Omen, which was itself a mass market film about the coming of the Christian End Times, so we felt one of us needed to have read it for research. Good Omens was also inspired by a particularly antisemitic moment in The Jew of Malta, John le Carre's spy novels and most of all by Richmal Crompton's William books.
I would need a deep dive into what you mean by "harmless" before I could hazard a guess as to whether it was that or not and whether fiction should be harmless or not.

Denzel Washington being cast in Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming Netflix movie as ancient Carthaginian general Hannibal is sparking some controversy in Tunisia, the home country of the great military commander.
According to French newspaper Courrier International, there are complaints about depicting the Carthaginian general as a Black African being made in the media and the Tunisian parliament. Member of Parliament Yassine Mami has pointed out that Hannibal, who was born in 247 BC in Carthage — now known as Tunis, the Tunisian capital — was of West Asian Semitic origin. “There is a risk of falsifying history: we need to take position on this subject,” the Tunisian politician reportedly stated.
Concurrently, French-language Tunisian newspaper La Presse has published an editorial in which it similarly objects that depicting Hannibal as a Black African is “according to Tunisians and many observers, a historical error.”
However, Tunisian culture minister Hayet Ketat-Guermazi had a different, more pragmatic take on the matter.
“It’s fiction. It is their [Netflix‘s] right to do what they want,” she responded, according to French newspaper Le Monde. “Hannibal is a historical figure and we are all proud that he was Tunisian. But what can we do?” She went on to note that she is trying to negotiate with Netflix to shoot at least a portion of the film in Tunisia. “I hope they decide to shoot at least a sequence of the film here and that that this is publicized. We want Tunisia to go back to being a location where foreign films are shot,” Ketat-Guermazi said, as reported by Le Monde.
Representatives for Netflix, Washington and Fuqua did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The controversy in Tunisia over Washington playing Hannibal is reminiscent of the uproar sparked in Egypt in April over Britain’s Adele James, who is of mixed heritage, playing Cleopatra in Netflix’s docudrama “Queen Cleopatra.” The first-century Egyptian queen was born in the Egyptian city of Alexandria in 69 BC and belonged to a Greek-speaking dynasty. Egyptian academics went on a rampage over the fact that Cleopatra was of European descent and not Black.
The still-untitled film about the Carthaginian general will be written by John Logan, the three-time Academy Award winner who scribed Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator” and Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator.”
According to the official logline, the movie is “based on real-life warrior Hannibal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history. The film covers the pivotal battles he led against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.”
Hannibal invaded Italy while riding a Northern African war elephant. Under his lead, the Carthaginians won key victories against the Romans, allowing Hannibal to occupy the majority of southern Italy for 15 years. Eventually, Hannibal was defeated by the Romans at the Battle of Zama after they counter-invaded North Africa.
Fuqua most recently directed Washington in the action-thriller “The Equalizer 3,” in which Washington reprised his role as ex-Marine Robert McCall.
Washington is currently involved in another war epic, the upcoming sequel to Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator,” which has resumed shooting in Malta after production was halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.  _______________
Netflix is at it again i see.

Acetosella gialla (Oxalis pes-caprae)
N.b. when I say eat/suck I mean that you pick the flower as you walk around and suck the juice from the stalk/stem
Historical references under the cut!
Among the many species of weeds along the Mediterranean basin, Oxalis pes-caprae, better known also by the term yellow sorrel, it is one of the most widespread, above all along central-southern Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. It is a weedy botanical species, of South African and Namibian origin (therefore of southern Africa), belonging to the Asteraceae family. In fact we need to remember that, although today it is widespread throughout the Mediterranean, is not a plant native to our regions.
According to some historical sources, its introduction to the Mediterranean took place at the beginning of 1800, on the island of Malta, as an ornamental plant, by a botanical admirer of Anglo-Saxon origins, coming from the South African colonies of the Cape, where today's City of Cape Town is located. This first plant reached Father Giacinto, a local botanist friar, who in fact mentions it in one of his indexes of botanical collections. After being planted in several places on the island of Malta, the plant spread massively within a few years, starting from the Maltese territory and Gozo.
Shortly thereafter, Oxalis pes-caprae began to invade Sicily and Sardinia as well, as an invasive weed species, to the detriment of the local species, which were quickly supplanted by this plant, originally from southern Africa. The characteristics of the species. This plant is very particular, as it has a bulb which is the only part of the plant that remains alive all year round. Its reproduction occurs vegetatively. Each root originates from a central bulb. From this arise numerous small bulbs which, when detached, generate a new plant.
Lacking cross-pollination, all the yellow sorrels around Italy are clones of those few plants that arrived at Padre Giacinto more than two centuries ago.
The bulbils remain dormant throughout the summer and germinate in late autumn, after the arrival of the rains. Flowering takes place in winter, between the end of December and February, continuing until spring when the aerial part disappears, closing the reproductive cycle. Medicinal properties and soil protection.
In the past it was believed that the plant had important medicinal virtues, through the use of its roots and leaves. Even today, in herbal medicine, the leaves and roots of this plant are used in decoctions for their refreshing, diuretic, astringent and anti-scurvy power. The juice of the centrifuged leaves is useful for heartburn and ulcers.
Oxalis pes-caprae still acts as a protection for the soil (even if in the long run it continues to deplete it of nutrients), limiting the erosive damage produced by winter storms on plowed land and reducing erosion or excessive exposure to sunlight and wind, which would further damage the soil.Furthermore, flowering en masse in late winter, it ensures precious nectar for pollinators, in a period in which there are not many blooms.

Design sheets for some of Hsien-Ko's moves, for Pocket Fighter. Both concepts were slightly simplified in the final game, mostly notably, with Chireitou returning back to using the usual gong, rather than Le Malta.
