No bcs when I read Legend the first time I was 13-14 and instantly fell in love with 15 year old June & Day. Deadass, they were my book gf & bf for a long long time.

BUT THEN MARIE LU GAVE US ADULT JUNE & DAY IN REBEL AND THEYRE OLDER THAN ME 🥹 they can continue being my book gf & bf idc

Yeah yeah now a lot of people are getting older than the characters of the books they enjoyed when they were teenagers but thank god marie lu loves me and made day a 30 year old in rebel

Any series you feel should get more attention? Books that get shuffled back because of newer, shinier books? Here’s some YA trilogies (mostly) that are worth your time. The Eye of Minds from James Dashner is much better than Maze Runner. The Darkest Minds from Alex Bracken is much better than the movie. (Bracken did have a cameo) Did you know David Baldacci wrote a YA series? Marie Lu’s Legend trilogy are great audiobooks. Danielle Paige wrote a great reimagining of Wizard of Oz. And two YA thriller trilogies that should have more buzz - Boy Nobody from Allen Zadoff. It’s similar to Orphan X. And You Don’t Know My Name from Kristen Orlando. "Change never happens unless you force it"🔥 Going into this book I knew I'd love it. Marie Lu is one of my autobuy authors and the original Legend trilogy is one of my absolute fave series so this continuation? I'd have to love it ❤ What I didn't expect? The harrowing parallels she draws between utopian/dystopian, gamified Antarctican society the Wing brothers live in and modern America. 😩 Lu is articulate and her world building breathtaking but it's her social commentary that really packs the heaviest punch ESPECIALLY seeing as this was written before all the Black Lives Matter protests 💔 The plot follows Eden Wing as his academic and technological genius lands him in underground drone races and then working with Antarctica's most wanted criminal 💪 He doesn't realize who he's working for until big brother Daniel (Day) who is now the government's most feared enforcer tells him but by then the plot to tear down the whole society has already begun 🙈 The ensuing riots, uprising and protests are even more heartbreaking to read in light of all the global protests we've seen recently 😭 whilst ultimately the book ends on a hopeful note it's articulate analysis of society is what stuck with me the most 😢 "they don't call it civil war. There had already been one that split the nation before, hundreds of years ago, during a time when the enslavement of human beings was legal based on nothing but the color of one's skin... ...maybe the United States was only ever united for some. Book review- 3.5 stars ( this rating may change) This series is reading like a slow burn, and to be totally honest, I wasn't expecting that at all so I'm not really sure how to feel other than I don't hate it. We get to know Scarlett and Gabriel more and not just them but who they surround themselves with. Gabriel has his own small tight group that he trusts but he keeps that circle small. Scarlett also has a small circle of women who are fierce and loyal (and at the very least for two of them I smell a story). Separately I like them both. Together the sex is hot. But I can't say that I'm in love with them as a couple...but I don't hate them either. ( I'm going to be real here...Lachlan and Keira Mount are my #1 March couple UPON WHICH ALL OTHER MARCH COUPLES ARE JUDGED UPON. Sorry not sorry). I read it relatively fast but I don't feel like much happened until the very end...but I wasn't bored because I read it in about a day...plus I kept reading it....but I guess that's where the slow burn part comes in. I've already read 2 books and I'm almost done with a third! . The last series I binged was several years ago when I discovered the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu.
