I was inspired by @lgbtqfairiesarereal​ to post my hc countries of origin for the Fairy Tail characters. For this, I mostly go by their names if I can, but if that leads to too many white people then I get creative haha. 

I hope you enjoy! 

Lucy Heartfilia: British / French. When I think about nobility I think about these two countries so just kind of rolled with it. Lucy is a common British name so it fits well enough, especially as she uses Western zodiac keys.

Natsu / Zeref Dragneel: Japanese / Indonesian. Natsu is a Japanese name and the closest to Zeref that is out there are all Arabic names so I went with Indonesia because a lot of their native language borrows words from traditional arabic. 

Gray Fullbuster: Canadian. Gray is, to me, a very American name but I also really like the idea of the ice wizards being from cold, Northern countries so... Canada is the only ideal fit.

Erza ‘Scarlet’ Belserion: Norwegian. This not only based on the name, but also the aesthetic. With her red hair, blunt attitude and love of swords, Erza has big viking energy to me. 

I’m posting the rest under the cut just for the sake of keeping a long post off of your dash. 

Juvia Lockser: Mexican. There isn’t much basis for this other than her name is Spanish but I wanted to move out of Europe. 

Mirajane / Lisanna / Elfman: Russian / Indian. This is tough because Strauss is also a Germanic name but eh, their heritage is European but their biological parents were a mix of cultures. 

Cana Alberona: Irish / Greek. She had to be from native Pagan country and that narrowed it down to the ‘Celtic Territories’ and like three countries in continental Europe. Because of this I thought about modern Paganism and how people can follow the Egyptian or Greek path and well, Greek seemed to suit Cana more. 

Wendy Marvell: English / Nigerian. Me, pushing my woc Wendy agenda? It’s more likely than you’d think. 

Gajeel Redfox: Zambian / Native American. I don’t know how to explain this one, I just felt it in my gut. 

Laxus Dreyar: Russian / Norwegian / Egyptian. I chose three because I think that Ivan is Russian / Egyptian and Laxus’ mother was Norwegian. I guess the Thor references were just too much for me to ignore lmao. 

Freed Justine: French. He just looks like a French aristocrat from the 1800s idk. I decided on this one based completely on aesthetics and what makes me happy. 

Bickslow: Egyptian / Taiwanese. Clay pried open my third eye with this one so I kinda just added it to my hc for Bickslow already. 

Evergreen: German. An enchanting name should come from a place with a long history of fantasy and folk lore I think. 

Lyon Vastia: Icelandic / Chinese. I just kinda looked at him and went “Yeah? Yeah.” With this one I literally cannot explain it. 

Ultear Milkovich: Russian / Italian. The catholic aesthetic was too strong to ignore so I couldn’t just go for Russian, but I think that Ur was Russian 100%.

Jellal Fernandes: Spanish. I wanted to place him in South America but I wasn’t sure of religion and I needed a catholic country for him because of the aesthetic so I just played it safe with Europe. If you know of any Catholic, Spanish countries in South America hit me up, I’m looking to change this!

Sting Eucliffe: North Korean. If this is because he gives me idol vibes then that’s on me okay don’t @ me.

Raois ‘Rogue’ Cheney: Japanese / Filipino. This is another one that my brain just accepted and I nodded and went with it. 

Erik ‘Cobra’: Argentinian / Rwandan. His name has a more European connection but I’m sick of Europe so whatever. 

Yukino / Sorano Aguria: Japanese / Pakistani. I saw a fanart of Yukino in a hijab and it’s stuck with me ever since. I was conflicted because the magic is more Western but I’m definitely happier with this. 

Kagura Mikazuchi: Japanese. It’s all about the aesthetics tbh.

Minerva Orland: Greek. This is mostly based on her name but also on her overall aesthetic. 

Flare Corona: American / Italian. Corona is a (cursed) Italian word for crown which made me think of the mob and I guess I got lost in that fantasy. 

Not doing anymore unless you have a specific request, but this was fun! I hope if anyone reads this that they have fun also :)

Hmmm...okay so hard but honestly I love the smell of jasmine and honeysuckle but only like the flower themselves. The artificial scents give me migraines.

Hmm...I'll go with my bff. She is an amazing wonderful person. She has been my friend for 13 years and is seriously one of the reasons I keep going. She is so strong and takes care of others so selflessly. She doesn't take care of herself however. (That's where I come in. She's just stubborn.) She is also like an amazing mother and wife. Her husband and kids would agree with me. She is constantly supportive and there to comfort me. I know I can tell her anything with no judgement. (She probably knows all my secrets so she is stuck with me. Lol!) She even gets mad on my behalf. I know no matter what we have each others backs and understand each other on a special level. She is just the absolute best and I love her so so so much.

Hey guys and

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!

I’m really sorry that I haven’t been here (especially now that it’s pride month =( ); I’m in the final sprint of my apprenticeship. I’ve had my final oral exam yesterday which I stressed myself about the entire previous week but I passed with a full score! Then there’s gonna be my final written exam next Friday. I’ll be on vacation for the rest of the week which I’ll use to study more and then, after June 19th, I’ll hopefully have more time again and also contribute to the pride month!!

I decided that I’m gonna chill for the rest of the evening before starting to study again tomorrow, so I’ll be around <3 So if anybody wanna talk or share stuff that’s been posted, I’m here!!

I’m also gonna change my icon and it’s not gonna be Freed even though he’s a big old queer man and I love him to death. I’ll prolly use one of the wonderful icons @lgbtqfairiesarereal​ made <3

Because you guys, that might not sound like much, but I think I’ve finally found the label I’m comfortable with and like two weeks ago I straight out said it out loud. Not towards my family, but one of my acquaintances.

Basically a lot’s been going on the last weeks, right? Not only for me personally - but there’s also pride month happening and there are, of course, all the happenings around George Floyd and the riots. Let’s not forget the roots of the Stonewall event. Let’s not forget that racism is as shitty as homophobia and misogyny.

No human is illegal.

Black lives matter.

Love is love.

Human rights cannot exist if they don’t apply to every human being, no matter the gender, the sexuality, the gender identiy, the color of the skin!!

We all gotta be strong together, fight and remember the important things in life. I don’t live in America and there’s not as much chaos in Germany, but the basics still exist here as well. Maybe less strong and less visible, but these troubles still exist everywhere on earth and it’s our duty to fight against it, explain, maybe learn and grow as well.

Name: Ryū Harumi Dragneel

Age: 13

Magic: Fire Dragonslayer

Personality: She’s a lot like her mom in regards to her curiosity and sense of adventure. Unlike both of her parents, Ryu loves learning and sees it as an opportunity for adventure in its own right. Art is another one of her passions, Ryu loves drawing and painting whatever she can think of, but mainly animals she finds in the forest. She isn’t too interested in brawling, she’d have to be provoked beforehand. She tries her best to stay passive but if you push her buttons enough, she’ll snap and NO ONE is ever ready for it. On the other hand, she’s always a shoulder to cry on, she doesn’t always have the right words but she’ll do what she can to help.

Appearance: Ryū may seem a lot like her mother, but it’s clear who her father is from one look at her. She and Natsu share the same olive green eyes, tanned skin, and messy, pink hair. She wears her hair short like her mother in two low pigtails.

Other:

Her first name means “Dragon”

Her middle name means “springtime beauty”

She wears a scarf Natsu knit for her 5th birthday

She’s a lesbian

Name: Sakura Kólasi Dragneel

Age: 10

Magic: Satan Soul Takeover

Personality: Sakura is playful, mischievous and full of charisma. She is impeccably clever and enjoys using her wits for pranks on any and everyone but Haru and her mother; Natsu is her favorite victim. She’s also a social butterfly with no capacity for shame or self-doubt. She loves play fighting with friends and often acts as the instigator. She’s the worst person to argue with because she will twist your words until you aren’t even sure what you were talking about anymore. She has zero respect for authority but if you do manage to impress her, she isnt likely to forget. In rare moments when she isn’t joking, she’s very sweet and observant.

Appearance: Sakura may take after her father in terms of personality, but she looks almost exactly like her mother. They have the same skin tone, face and eye shape, and eye color. The only place where even a little bit of Natsu’s genes come into play is her pointed teeth. Her hair is long, wavy and white for the most part, but the color fades towards her tips from pearl white to pale pink to the same shade as Natsu’s hair

Other:

“Sakura” means “cherry blossoms”

“Kólasi” means “hell” in Greek

She learned her magic from her Aunt Mira

Her Aunt Mira and Uncle Elfman can’t help spoiling her, she just looks so much like Lisanna did as a child

She also has a scarf knit for her by Ryū on her 5th birthday but she only wears it at home to keep it safe from all the crazy things she gets into

Name: Haru Nikko Dragneel (he goes by Nikko)

Age: 5

Magic: Fire Dragonslayer

Personality: Nikko is rather quiet, though he is not shy. He is imaginative and loves to read or listen to stories about adventures. But mostly he likes to be left alone to do whatever he feels like doing. He does enjoy being around his family even if he’s not directly interacting with them and just doing his own thing whilst they sit next to him. Nikko doesn’t enjoy brawling at all and will often sit right outside the guild so he doesn’t have to see it, but he will cheer on Sakura and his dad if they so request. He also is a big fan of physical affection, he just likes to cuddle and hug and hold hands with his friends and family.

Appearance: Nikko is the only of his siblings to look a decent mix of both of their parents. His skin has a more tan tone like Natsu’s and his eyes are large and bright blue like Lisanna’s. His hair is pink but it’s a slightly lighter shade than Natsu’s. His more distinctive features will even the playing field as he gets older but as of now, it’s anyone’s guess which of his parents he’ll take after

Other:

His first name means “Spring” and he was sort of named after his oldest sister (her middle name) because they were born on the same day but he was born early in the morning while she was born at night

His middle name means “Sunshine”

Keeping with their little family tradition, he has a scarf that Sakura knit for him once he turned 5. He never takes it off just like his dad and oldest sister

He also plans to knit a scarf for his mom so she matches with the rest of her family
