darkness is the deepest before the dawn
@lgcxmax
hyuntae knew that max had way more experience in this type of thing then he did. he had even been able to participate in future dreams. he deserved the spot in type zero. but was this because his self-esteem was plummeting because of something personal happening the previous night. he couldn't get the words out of his head. 'no-one important'. if he wasn't important to even his 'best friend' then how would he be important to millions of already solid type zero fans. hyuntae took a deep breath sliding down the wall of the practice room.
thankfully no-one was there yet and he had the room to himself. since his dorm was empty there wasn't really any reason for him to be there. so why not continue practicing until he got the dance at least perfect. thats when he saw someone walk into the studio. he quickly straightened himself up and waited for the other trainee to fully come in. "hey max! come to practice more too?" he knew that max's excuse wasn't the same as tae's but why not have more practice in during such a nervewracking time?

starter for @lgcbaekhyun
even if he didn’t have a busy schedule like parker and daeho, eunho had never felt so in over his head as these past weeks. where he’s had to guide and help trainee’s, as if he was some big senior artist. he had only been an idol for 2 years, but after being with them for a few weeks now, eunho could see what the coahes meant when they said they weren’t ready to debut.
but what was he supposed to do?
prepare them?
he wasn’t li shang from mulan, even if he related to the character right about now - because some of these boys were despreate for debut, and some didn’t take it seriously.
eunho shakes his head, snapping himself back into the zone, eunho had just come from a testing of clothes that he would wear later and he hadn’t taken of the bright orange burberry hoodie he had been given to wear just yet, he had rushed over - “ sorry, i am a little late. ”

max flops down beside hyuntae, peeking over his shoulder to see him work on his english exercises. "i think you missed and s there," he comments off-handedly with a mischievous grin in place, arm coming to wrap around his shoulder. he feels like both of them were rather unsure what to make of the news.
max just continues to loop in his head questions like 'why now', 'where was the adamant opinion of him joining agito when wook was still here, when they could have achieved their goals together' and more. the prospect of debut leaves him both euphoric and beyond anxious, the chance of having it taken away from him so terrifying he has troubles not having nightmares about it. just one more month, hopefully. he could do it. but hyuntae-?
"how you feeling?"

⸻ KICK IT ( 4 NOW ) ( ft. @lgcdaeho )
Byeongkwan wanders back and forth between the floor-length mirrors and one of the many screens hung up around of the room. Sunday perks: no one to monitor the upgraded practice rooms. A Diamonds Only choreography demo plays on an endless loop and he tries his best to recreate each of the moves he sees on screen. With enough repetitions he prays that muscle memory will kick in soon enough and he can start to focus on the lyrics - a different challenge entirely that he wasn't looking forward to tackling.
After a few run-throughs ( and kicking himself for completely forgetting an entire 8-count somewhere in the middle of the song ), he figures he's earned himself a break. He stuffs a towel in the door to keep it from locking behind him and slips into the hall, water bottle in hand. He's so tired from practice he can barely unscrew the top, focusing all his energy on popping it off. So much focus, that he doesn't realize he's walking directly into someone.
"Shit - " he crashes into the other, splashing what was left of his water all over himself and his unsuspecting victim. At least it was just his usual bottle, and not the 'special' water bottle he'd kept on occasion for the end of bootcamp sessions on those particularly bad days. It could've been worse. "Sorry, I didn't see - Oh," He meets eyes with Daeho, of all people, blinking in shock. Worse. It was worse. He bows his head slightly, taking a step back with an awkward chuckle. "Hey, uh, Sunbaenim.... I didn't realize anyone else was practicing on this floor today. Really sorry about that... It is hot out though, doesn't hurt to cool off a little, yeah?"

singing voice
apparently, singing was beginning to become hyoseop’s greatest enemy. since day one in legacy, hyoseop’s biggest enemy had been dancing, he had two left feet and was taking ages to improve just a little bit. he was still far from good at dancing nor confident in it, but there was now something that slowly seemed worse than dancing, which was: singing of course. hyoseop had thought he didn’t need singing skills, as he clearly from day one had shown he was a rapper, but time after time, legacy tried making him sing.
and as he was just beginning to feel slightly comfortable in dancing, ‘singing’ was thrown against the man. also, why did legacy keep telling him to practice his korean? he’d lived in korea all his life, no way he could actually suck at the language he spoke 90% at the time.
hyoseop wasn’t sure about how to feel about this trainee evaluations, as truth be it, he’d rather join a new group than be thrown into an already-existing group. but he had no choice, and now he had to practice his singing, together with him sitting hyuntae, who sucked as much as hyoseop. “singing” he tabs his pen, then looks up at the other “how do you usually warm up your voice for singing?”.

hyuntae felt burdened suddenly. not only had he somehow got his senior to come to help him with her already busy schedule, but he was putting her in the uncomfortable position of not being able to hit the notes like she would want to. it didn't help that nathan and parker's parts were insanely high. hyuntae sighed looking down at the song lyrics before him. he was going to study and study until he got these right. he wasn't going to let yuxi's time be wasted.
"parker sunbae's voice goes really high. i wonder what his technique is." he pondered for a moment. "maybe you could help me get the words right? i don't want you helping me affect your voice later. i can just book another vocal lesson. maybe you could explain mandarin better than my other teacher since you may have better examples to match the words?" each person who learns a language knows different ideas or ways to learn things.
At least, Yuxi thought, there was some comfort in knowing that she wasn’t the only one struggling and at least had some company. But still, she was there to help him. No matter how much Hyuntae was struggling, it was still embarrassing for her to be struggling too.
She (for the time being) gave up. “I’m sorry, I don’t know why I can’t just immediately hit those notes. I can gliss up to it just fine, but that’s not an option singing live or in the recording booth.” Seemed like they’d both be getting some vocal practice today.

what is happening?
@lgcbaekhyun
hyuntae was at a loss for words after their meeting. he was one of the chosen trainees that might get to debut? and in type zero? he wasn't sure if that was something he wanted. but he was happy with the opportunity none the less. now he got to show his potential. he was going to prove he was up to the challenge to grow his skills in the areas that they had asked of him.
but what was this feeling that he suddenly had? for some reason he was anxious. nervous even. would he be good enough to debut? but was he even ready to do that? so many questions went through his mind. but he had to try. one person he knew would also be having a hard time. his brother. he as even anxious over spring boys, he would sure as hell be nervous about this. so after the meeting he stayed back by the door and waited for baekhyun to come out.
"no time like the present to start. wanna go with me to practice? i could use your help with singing" it was the one skill he had that he had no confidence in. first the musical made him feel unprepared with singing and now this evaluation. he hated the idea of getting a bad report on anything. maybe this was going to be the first.

TRAINEE EVALUATIONS 007
SCHEDULE TYPE: TRIMESTER ( PART 1 OUT OF ??? ) SCHEDULE RESTRICTIONS: Cannot be paired with another trimester schedule, unless stated otherwise. for reference as to whether your muse is eligible for this event, please click over HERE.
later in the afternoon on JULY 10, SEO YOUNGJAE and SON EUNHO are present in the practice rooms as they watch the selected trainees enter the room one by one. listed below were the trainees who were called privately to arrive at the practice room:
BAEK BYEONGKWAN ( @lgcbk )
CHA HYOSEOP ( @lgchyoseop )
CHOI KAI ( @lgckai )
KANG MAXIMILIAN ( @lgcxmax )
KWON BAEKHYUN ( @lgcbaekhyun )
KWON HYUNTAE ( @hyuntaelgc )
“good afternoon.” SEO YOUNGJAE begins by greeting the trainees present before introducing the idol next to him, EUNHO, and what they’re about to do. “recently TYPE ZERO has lost two members and while this is unofficial, we’ve decided to take this time to find out who will be debuting in that group. unfortunately,” YOUNGJAE exaggerates the last word, indicating that what he’s about to say is anything but good news. “we felt that none of you are prepared to debut. there are many areas that all of you are lacking at and with us having limited time, all of you are brought here to participate in what could possibly be the most intense bootcamp or evaluation some of you have participated in.” even after revealing the most important part of the news, YOUNGJAE’s facial expression doesn’t change, still showing his poker face to the younger individuals.
“while TYPE ZERO is expected to have their comeback in a few months, they have other schedules to attend to. in the case of EUNHO,” YOUNGJAE turns his head towards the man next to him. “since BOMIN mentioned how much free time you have compared to the other members, you will be spending your time mentoring these trainees and practicing on your assigned skills too.”
for all of the trainees ( and EUNHO ), they will be told by YOUNGJAE the following skills that they will be asked to work on during this time:
BAEK BYEONGKWAN: SINGING, DANCING
CHA HYOSEOP: SINGING, KOREAN
CHOI KAI: SINGING, MANDARIN
KANG MAXIMILIAN: SINGING, PERFORMANCE
KWON BAEKHYUN: DANCING, PERFORMANCE
KWON HYUNTAE: SINGING, ENGLISH
SON EUNHO: SINGING, DANCING
the trainees in this group will not PARTICIPATE in TRAINING MISSION 014 because they will start their bootcamp training from today until AUGUST 12. HOWEVER, they will still be a part of LGC BOYS and their project.
SCHEDULES
for the trainees, they will be asked to learn the following songs:
JULY 10-15: BEFORE THE DAWN
JULY 17-22: MONSTER ( ENGLISH )
JULY 24-29: DIAMONDS ONLY ( MANDARIN )
JULY 31-AUGUST 5: BAD ALIVE ( ENGLISH )
AUGUST 7-12: SPRAY
since none of the trainees are asked to work on rapping, all of the songs that they will have to learn and perform in front of the coaches will be singing AND dancing only ( for songs that don’t have dancing in the irl reference, the coaches will show a choreography created just for this evaluation only ). if a song has a language listed next to it, that means that they will be learning the song in that language.
during JULY 10-25, SEO YOUNGJAE will not be present because he will be involved in TRAINING MISSION 014 and will be substituted with another coach ( JANG INSUNG ). also, EUNHO will be teaching all of the trainees the songs mentioned above and giving tips to them on what they could do to improve and prepare themselves for the evaluation. whenever the trainees are not available ( due to other schedules ), EUNHO will be having private singing and dancing lessons with JANG INSUNG.
EVALUATION & AUDITION
during the week of JULY 24-29, all of the trainees will be told beforehand that legacy is holding a private audition where each of them will be asked to perform one of the songs from PROJECT ORIGINS THE MUSICAL. results for that will not be revealed until the family concert 2k23 post.
furthermore, for their evaluation ( AUGUST 12 ) they will each be performing SPRAY in front of all of the coaches.
POINTS
as mentioned before, each of the trainees ( and EUNHO ) are assigned skills to work on during this period. to make sure that people meet the expectations set upon them ( both ic and ooc ), everyone involved will be required to gain AT LEAST 30 POINTS per person. this means that you must put at least 30 POINTS ( can be all 30 in one skill, or 15 and 15 with the two skills; doesn’t matter as long as you put 30 POINTS in total in one or both of the skills assigned ). ideally it would be best to get more, but it’s up to you how you would like to distribute those points. if EVERYONE meets this requirement before AUGUST 12, 11:59PM EDT, they will be given additional rewards for their efforts.
A FRIENDLY REMINDER…
just like the past evaluations and bootcamps, all of the boys involved ( including EUNHO ) are forbidden to tell anyone about the details of this project. to the rest of the trainees, this project is perceived more as training for a lgc family concert’s special stage. since debuting is the end goal of this particular project, all of the trainees involved will be carefully supervised and monitored during this time. because of the intensity of this training, all of the trainees CANNOT participate in the youtube shows/podcasts ( whether it is being a guest or host ).
WRITING REQUIREMENTS
FOR EUNHO
INTENSIVE TRAINING: write a 4 replies ( minimum 8 lines ) thread with another trainee about anything happening with the training ( ex. teaching them the choreography, giving tips on how to improve, etc. ) for +10 POINTS TO ASSIGNED SKILL ( SINGING/DANCING ) ! ** can be done up to two times as long as it is with different partners **
FOR EVERYONE ELSE
INTENSIVE TRAINING: write a 4 replies ( minimum 8 lines ) thread with another trainee or EUNHO about anything happening with the training for +10 POINTS TO ASSIGNED SKILL !

it was getting closer to the end, he was unsure what would be the result but he couldn’t help but feel that the boys had improved ever so slightly. eunho wasn’t a coach though, so he wasn’t sure but if anything maybe his previous role as a leader was why he was here - now he was in the practice room with byeongkwan, who needed some help with the choreography for spray. what eunho wasn’t prepared for was the confusion as his brows furrowed at the other’s performance.
sure, he could tell what song he was dancing to but the moves were sloppy.
“ is that it? ” he asks when the other other is finished performing, unsure what he should say to him after what the male had showed him, “ how long did you practice for? ”
eunho wasn’t sure if he should feel embarassed or confused at the moment, or what he should say to him, he had started of the weeks being brutally honest with multiple trainee’s, he hda given bk advice on other things before as well, but never sat down and watching him like this.
“ that wont do. ”

"if you're a better speaker than i am, that's more than enough" hyuntae teased trying to make sure the aura of the room wasn't too heavy. lately he had been beginning to develop headaches from all the different workshops that he had to go through. all the different things he had to learn, that he wasn't particularly interested in. but if he was serious about debuting, he had to learn how to get interested. also didn't help that his best friend was sent off on a cruise and it wasn't like he was able to talk to him like usual.
hyuntae shook off his thoughts and nodded. "yea, i know the basics."... "yea that would help a lot!" he stated happily. that was something that he was the most anxious on. being able to communicate his feelings and rely on others to do it for him. he hated that idea. "so my hobbies.... i like to dance. make choreography. i like going to pet cafes." hyuntae wasn't someone who actively thought about what he liked doing. he was always so busy. between the extra training he would give himself, the new lessons, his weekly blood donations on sunday. he didn't really have much that he liked to do.
"would they want to know that i'm very passionate about blood donation? or would that be something way later on?" doing this made him realize that there was so so much more that he had to learn besides his performance skills.

“alright, so i can’t technically say i’m a native speaker, but i learned when i was, like, four, so i think i’m qualified just based on experience.” minji smiled confidently at hyuntae. she didn’t know much about what the male trainees at legacy were working towards just yet, but she did know that the older trainee needed to practice his english for an important project, and minji was happy to help. she missed being the “mentor” figure she was for her sister back at home, and wanted to have that same feeling again, even if the people she was helping out were older.
“so, you know some stuff, right? like, how to introduce yourself and all that.” she was trying to get a feel for how much hyuntae already knew, and really where to begin. “i think, if you’re at that point, you can start to learn some niche things, like stuff related to being an idol and your hobbies. what are you interested in? we can start by talking about those things.”
she pulled a sheet of paper off a notebook she’d left in her bag for her late-night choreography practice sessions, but left the paper blank for a moment. “just start talking, i’ll write a few of those things down. that will help you focus on what vocabulary to learn, and then it’s a matter of putting it together with whatever grammar you know!”

@lgcbaekhyun
he hunches over their recently recorded practice run and can’t help but frown. they’re executing the moves correctly, nailing every step down, synchronization on point even and every angle right but something is still missing and max can’t for the life of him figure out what it is.
“maybe we should go again,” he suggests carefully, not sure if baekhyun is as unsatisfied with the outcome as he himself is. he loves the songs, the choreographies are amazing and while max had always been more of an upbeat guy, there is something nice to the heavy beats thrumming through his chest as they practice that just elevates him with new determination and drive. but how could he translate that into his performance? the male rubs the back of his neck with a frustrated sigh, hoping baekhyun had some better input for their situation than max himself in that moment.

⸻ TURN IT UP DOWN ( @lgchyoseop )
Vocal practice was the bane of Byeongkwan’s existence. He left each session feeling mentally and emotionally battered and bruised - and quite frankly, a bit offended - by the entire ordeal. Much like asking a fish to climb a tree, he was feeling way too out of his element. He was not a singer. Never claimed to be. The likelihood of him ever being able to compete with the others who a) seemed to possess some sort of supernatural talent for the craft or b) had been maxing out their vocal cords every day like they were in a 2-hour training split at the gym - was slim to none. And in only a month? Scratch that. It was impossible. Short of eating one of Type Zero’s mini albums, this evaluation was a lost cause and he knew it.
Still, he joins Hyoseop in one of the trainee studios listening back to a recording of himself absolutely butchering his lines in Spray. He knew he sounded awful, but he didn’t realize he sounded that awful. “Well,” he cuts the track with a turn of the dial, leaning back in his seat. “I’m doomed. You think they’ll let me use an autotune mic? That’s probably the only way I’ll be able to salvage this.”

⎯ struggles be gone
with @lgctee
“like this? wait that’s not right..” ughhh
okay the trainee evals were a little bit more difficult than keeho had imagined. it was not a simple test that just said yes you were going to debut this year. no that was way to easy. instead keeho was here with his fellow trainee working on improving certain skill sets. did keeho think he need improvement? no but he would do what the company ask just so he can have a taste of his dreams.
“hyung, I have no swag in my movement..” he finally admitted defeat. “I look like a lump of potato trying to be cool.” maybe this song choice was just not for him but his type zero’s make a wish, was one a dance that he really wanted to look do looking  ‘cool’ “like how does the sunbae even move like that...” he frown. keeho knew the moves but executing it was a lot more difficult. covering his face, he let out a laugh of frustration - which was all he needed to feel 10 times better.

move along - evaluations | @lgcxmax
“i wish they had been a bit more specific with the instructions,” cam wasn’t exactly complaining, he definitely was grateful to even have direction on what to work on, he just wasn’t quite sure what side of performance he needed to work on. was it a general thing? was it his facial expressions? was it his movement? he’d worked quite a bit on expressions for the drama, despite only featuring for a small part of it. It had been good experience to learn how filming worked and to get his name out there— plus, he loved dramas.
max was the other trainee in the group asked to work on his performance for the evaluation. that was why he found himself with the other guy in a practise room. it seemed like cam was spending every waking moment surrounded by the company’s mirrors. he wasn’t sick of them yet, not like he’d been at the other company, but it still felt like he never actually left the rooms.
“i’m gonna go with dance, just because i think it’ll be easier to showcase ‘performance’ and also i think i could use the practise.” he sighed out and took a few big sips from his almost empty water bottle. “did you decide on what you’re doing yet?”

lgcjisoo:
( . . . )
for a guy who is happy to have just made it onto the teams, and to the unit, anyone passing by would’ve guessed otherwise if they had an earful of baekhyun and jisoo’s cute little chat. “you’re starting to sound like my biggest supporter at this point, baekhyun. i’m flattered!” there’s a hand to his chest as he adds on the flair, batting his lashes at the other, but don’t pen him in for great acting, it’s certainly not there, but dripping in sarcasm.
Baekhyun rolls his eyes in annoyance (or is he even annoyed at this point? It's not like he's not used to this banter and Jisoo getting under his skin. There are wins and losses in this synchronized dance that they pull around each other.) "You have to work with what you're given, after all. I'll let you have this, sweetheart," Baekhyun makes sure to give Jisoo his best-forced smile. As someone who has been working on his acting for a long time now, Baekhyun could afford to be fake around people like Jisoo, but the day he smiles at his rival with an honest expression might as well be the day hell freezes. Alright, maybe that's a bit too dramatic, even for Baekhyun, but no part in him doesn't want to beat Jisoo in this game.
Baekhyun has to stop himself from cussing because they are still in a semi-public environment, and the last thing Baekhyun wants is to somehow get in trouble because of Jisoo. He puts both his hands on the other's shoulders and smiles at him, "How can I not cheer for you? Came from the bottom, and here you are today," he pats Jisoo's cheeks. "You're a menace in my life, Han Jisoo. I swear to God."

「♆ DRAMARAMA ♆」
Tee had not been expecting the feedback during their evaluation group meeting and to say he was surprised would be an understatement. He had not expected to hear the trainers compliment him on his improvement. Hearing them explain why they had him focus on singing for so long, Tee was finally able to see it from their perspective. It was true. There may be some songs where he won’t rap.
Then came the next challenge - duos. To be told you’re going to be judged and compared to another member over the same song and performance is a little daunting for him. And to top it off they have him competing against Keeho? This was going to be a challenge and a half.
Tumblr media
Keeho and Tee seemed to get along well. Both were dancers and performers. @lgckeeho was kind and helpful. He’d helped Tee previously with his singing. Now they were practicing and working together despite being competitors. He’d just finished watching Keeho’s practice and was, well, impressed.
❛ Wow. I don’t know if I want to compete against that, ❜ he said with a smile.
