Brazil's government gave FIFA assurances Saturday about officially bidding to host the 2027 Women's World Cup. Latin America has never hosted any of the nine editions of the tournament.

Brazil's sports minister André Fufuca and the president of the country's soccer body, Ednaldo Rodrigues, delivered the document in person to FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The three had photos together at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, where they watched local Fluminense beat Boca Juniors 2-1 to win its maiden Copa Libertadores title.

Brazil's government said on its social media channels Saturday night that the document is signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and it gives FIFA the seven assurances that are requested in such bids. Among those are guarantees of especially assigned tax exemptions, work permits and visa procedures.

“The Brazilian bid to host the Women's World Cup is part of the current government policy of stimulus to bigger participation of women in soccer,” Brazil's sports ministry said in a statement.

A Beginners Guide for Campeonato Femenino YPF, Argentina's Women Football's League

Hello! It is me, your local argie. I've been meaning to make a post with sources and ways to watch my home league and I've decided it's time. :)

Campeonato Femenino YPF is the highest football league for women in Argentina, every year 2 teams get relegated to League "B" and from league "B", two teams ascend. The winner from the opening tournament classifies for Copa Libertadores (an entire other post could be dedicated to Libertadores). And if I'm not mistaken (because it's a new competition) depending on the position of your team until a certain part of the competition, you can classify for Copa Federal, a tournament where many teams across the country compete, not just the ones in the Campeonato (think the FA Cup).

Next, when it comes to the teams there's 20 teams competing in the league, so you have a lot of matches to watch during the weekend!

There's the chance that you might need a VPN, but I'm sure half of us that watch the WSL from other countries might already have one. If not, I'll update this post with sources for VPNs.

I have no idea if any illegal sites might have the matches on their catalog, but ideally if you can watch the league from the official sites, it would help a lot!

How to get league news

Unlike other leagues, Campeonato YPF doesn't have official social media accounts with updates on fixtures, league positions, etc. You best bet to get news is independent magazines like El Femenino or FutFemProf.

In El Femenino's case, they update the league table after every fixture on their socials, aside from providing news and updates with everything league-related. It's all a work of love for the sport, so please consider subscribing to their magazine.

FutFemProf is more news related, they do weekly recaps of what happened at the latest fixture, go to a match per weekend and do intervews with the players. Right now, they're crowdfunding for being able to cover Copa America 2022, so if you'd like to donate to their cause, here's their cafecito (like kofi but in Spanish).

Of course, you can also individually follow every team's social media, but that's a bit too much to keep up with, so I'm just linking these two because they're the ones that I know are the "best" sources.

Gaspar Yanga—often simply Yanga or Nyanga (May 14, 1545 - 1618) known as the Primer Libertador de America or “first liberator of the Americas,” He led one of colonial Mexico’s first successful enslaved uprisings and would go on to establish one of the Americas earliest free Black settlements.

He was of royal lineage from West Africa, he was an enslaved worker in the sugarcane plantations of Veracruz. In 1570 he, along with a group of followers, escaped, fled to the mountainous regions near Córdoba, and established a settlement of former slaves or palenque. Taking the role of spiritual and military leader, he structured the agricultural community in an ordered capacity, allowing its growth and occupation of various locations.

He and his band, known as cimarrónes, were implicated in the disruption and looting of trade goods along the Camino Real between Veracruz and Mexico City. They were held responsible for attacking nearby haciendas and kidnapping indigenous women. Perceived as dangerous to the colonial system of slavery through their daring actions against royal commerce and authority, New Spain’s viceroy called for the annihilation of Yanga’s palenque. Destroying the community and its leader would send a message to other would-be rebellious slaves that Spain’s authority over them was absolute.

In 1609, Spanish authorities sent a well-armed militia to defeat him and his palenque but were defeated. His surprise victory over the Spanish heightened the confidence of his warriors and the frustration in Mexico City.

After defeating other Spanish forces sent again the palenque, He offered to make peace but with eleven conditions, the most important being recognition of the freedom of all of the Palenque’s residents before 1608, acknowledgment of the settlement as a legal entity which he and his descendants would govern, and the prohibition of any Spanish in the community. He promised to serve and pay tribute to the Spanish crown. After years of negotiations, in 1618, the town of San Lorenzo de Los Negros was recognized by Spanish authorities as a free Black settlement.
