everytime I think about purple duo in season 3 in comparison to season 4 I go a little bit more crazy

vitalasy asking/making subz kill him because he was convinced his job was done, he saved the server and there was nothing left for him to do (in denial that lifesteal would not and could not be saved)

vs

subz asking/making vitalasy kill him because he had given up, and was convinced his life was only hurting the people he cared about

subz killed vitalasy very reluctantly but did it because he cared

vitalasy only killed subz after begging, bargaining and pleading for subz to promise to return to the server, return to him

subz was asked to do something he did not want to do both times (kill vitalasy, promise to return to the server) but agreed because he cared. because he knew what vitalasy is like as a person. he did not ask for anything in return, killing vitalasy was something he probably knew was coming. because that's just who vitalasy is.

vitalasy can't stand to lose people. he is selfish in the way that he wants to die first, so he doesn't have to bear living without the people he cares about

subz doesn't have grand goals or desires, he'll go along with whatever his teammates (vitalasy) wants because he cares about them more than anything. this, i think, stems from when subz tried to hold onto vitalasy's ideals after vitalasy's death in s3, but ultimately failed; ending the series in a truce and mass suicide pact. he learns that conflicts on the server are futile and will result in some semblance of peace at the end of the day. all that matters is that you have your allies by your side. something he lacked during the end of season 3. something he desperately wanted during season 4. he is selfish in the way that he'd rather look away than face conflict head on. dying in season 4 means he didn't have to look at the people he loved fight with each other, because what is the end of the server if he can't hold both his allies close to him. what is the end of a season if he can't hold their hands while they all plunge to their deaths.

the only way purple duo could get a happy ending is if they get banned side by side in a battle they both want to fight. vitalasy for the good of the server. subz for the good of vitalasy against a foe he does not care about.

But you can imagine something better, something that isn’t destruction as far as the eye can see. And you’ll give it to people even if they resist. They don’t know what’s good for them.

They’re not even mad about you cleaning up. Of course they wouldn’t be. Destruction comes naturally to you all, but there’s still enough humanity left in you all to prefer when things are nice.

It was never going to last.

They don’t like that you put your name on everything and call it yours, which, in retrospect, you can understand that. You’ve never gone down without a fight, and you’re not about to start now. People can call you what they like, but no one could ever say you’re not stubborn.

You go down in the fight.

You should’ve stayed down.

But you don’t stay down. Not forever. Turns out there’s a group out there who people hate more than you. And maybe your stubbornness is just what those people need right now.

Okay, maybe your methods weren’t the best. You had that much figured out before your end. But you were too far gone then. Still, all you’d ever really wanted was to help. You wanted the server, in your image, and that image was what was best for everyone.

What a self-absorbed viewpoint. What makes your image the best one?

You just want a world that is fair, and orderly, one which everyone can live in together. Even your enemies. After all, isn’t conflict what makes life fun?

But Decimation don’t want conflict. They want complete, total destruction.

So you fight.

And fight.

And fight.

You just won’t give up.

You can’t give up, because the hopes of so many server members are on you. So many have given their hearts to your cause, and isn’t that what Decimation wants, for everyone to give up their hearts, for everyone to roll over and die, so you can’t. No matter what, you can’t give up. Your friends, your former enemies, they’re all relying on you.

So you run and you fight and you stay alive no matter what it takes.

Then an old friend asks you to talk on a mountain.

He tells you that what he’s doing is the same as what you both did, with the Cleansers. But you’ve come so far you can’t allow yourself to believe it.

And you thought you were going to fight, and you were prepared for a fight, and then he takes out his hearts and burns them, and you can’t stand the thought of losing him too, even though he’s betrayed you time and time and time again, because you’ve already lost so much.

You’re powerless to stop it. Deep down, you know you’re too powerless to stop any of this. But you can’t stop trying. Not until your last fucking breath.

Why fight, when your struggle is futile and you know it?

But isn’t that struggle why he gets brought back. Because the deadliest assassin isn’t enough to keep you down, but one last look into your former friend’s eyes, as he stares you coldly down, and you can finally admit to yourself that this is the beginning of the end. But your stubbornness requires that you give it one last fight.

A pathetic one.

Death after death, so quickly in a row, in an underground hidey-hole, as his allies try to call for him as the death messages appear. It almost feels a spectacle, if there were anyone else but your friend and his cold eyes and his cold sword.

He gets you to give up. On one heart, surrounded by obsidian, alone. Nothing left, no way out. A feat no one else has achieved. You almost admire him for it. One last, bitter word of praise for how far he’s made you fall, and his sword runs through your chest.

It’s almost poetic, how you were the one to watch as he died, begging him not to go, and all he can say, as the life leaves your body is:

I’m glad I did it.

Weather It

Pack everything and go. He is breaking down the walls.

You do not have time to pack. Axes break chests and kill villagers. Burn everything you can't carry, you don't have time, you don't have any time at all - the walls broke immediately.

Burn and salt the earth behind you and hope that even as you are loosing everything you built and gathered, he isn't (they aren't) winning. Burn it all and flee, and if you cannot take everything but your hearts with you consider it a victory.

Consider it.

You are alive, and hidden, and alive. You escaped. A heart was lost but what does it matter? He cannot gain more hearts than what he already has.

You just have to weather it. The storm will pass. Wait for the moment the wind loses its force - wait for that circus mask to... to something. To be distracted.

People are counting on you.

You will have a chance to strike. You just need a little time, and this space that you carved from nothing will give it to you.

Eclipse Federation:

i dont like them. they ruined my life. Subz and Vitalasy had already partnered in previous seasons but this one, Vitalasy ended up leaving for a few months, leaving Subz alone, and Zam ended up getting close to him after immense trauma at the hands of his former teammates. Zam has done SO many wrongs, including to Subz himself and Subz STILL took him in and made him join Eclipse Federation after Zam died 14 times in a row and got banned then revived by the same player who's been killing him all this time. And it could've been perfect but no, Zam had betrayed his previous team due to them using dupes via exploits, and now Eclipse Federation ALSO has exploits! And he decided that yeah his morals were more important than being loved! And so he murders Vitalasy when he's at his most vulnerable point, lets everyone gaslight him into thinking Vitalasy is an irredeemable evil monster who will never change, even as Vitalasy SAID he was ready to change before the betrayal even happened, Eclipse threw out their whole revenge plans because of Zam's positive influence and he just broke everything. Subz couldn't be with Zam but also couldn't see himself at Vitalasy's side, leaving him alone. Vitalasy hated Zam and yet never killed him or hunted him down, despite Zam acting like he did. And when Vitalasy left, banning himself off from the server, Zam had some time alone to think and realized he fucked up SOOOO bad. And Subz revived Vitalasy and told him to kill him. And ban him. His last wish. His Deliverance. And to make up with Zam. And Vitalasy tried, and they kind of did make up over Subz's death, but then Zam was like "actually im going to kill everyone and destroy the server now. because i want subz back and also because i always do extremely drastic things when i don't need to because i have unchecked mental illnesses i refuse to get help for". And surprisingly when Subz came back he didn't like that! And they ended in tragedy! Eclipse is fucked up. It's a trio that's always about the absence of one person, it's a team that could only happen in one timeline and it was doomed from the very start. But the love was there. It made everything worse, truthfully. But it was there. And that matters. Also as a fun fact Zam himself on twitter has referred to eclipse as a throuple, which is not canon but that's pretty funny. he also stated on stream he didn't want to get therapy because it'd ruin his lifesteal character. and there was a saga where they would "marry" (challenge lost kinda shenanigans) and zam was the only one happy about it. he's not normal. there's something wrong with him. love that for him though sorry for the block of text. I really dislike them. They're my beloveds :3
