watch as both nuwa and wukong are shown to have done some fucked up things in the events surrounding mk’s creation only for wukong to be excused and his actions glossed over or justified while nuwa is villainized and hated for doing the Exact Same Things
I'm assuming you're talking about the fandom, and like, yeah. It's going to be TERRIBLE.

Hello! I started binging on Not Me because of all those gifs of First and Gawin and I'm so fucking invested now. I watched the show because of them and I'm living for the political and privileged shit they're bringing to light! Could you tell me more about DanYok from the novel? Is Dan deaf in the novel as well? What's their storyline about? Thank you in advance! Have a great day/night! :)))))))))))
Hi! Lmao that's so valid of you who wouldn't want to see a ship where one person pulls a gun on the other and the second person falls more in love like!?! It's so funny!?!?!
Yesss the political themes of the show are just sooo amazing. The way they don't pull any punches and get their point across so succinctly and in a way most people can easily grasp aaaaaa I'm insane about this show. So well executed it's incredible i love it so much!
I've already discussed their novel versions in this ask here so feel free to check it out! Spoiler alert, they might as well be brand new characters in the show and I honestly prefer the show versions. There's just so much more depth to their individual characters as well as their interactions. I really love how the script writers took the most annoying person in the book (Yok) and went he will be a good boy actually. Insane of them I'm so glad they did. I cannot wait to see more of Dane and get some clarity/confirmation on whether he is actually hearing impaired or not too. It's killing me not knowing for sure, but I do feel the way his character just hasn't responded to auditory stimuli and the way he only ever makes any sound is when he has to say something important HAS to be deliberate. That kinda shit doesn't happen hy accident, being that quiet isn't just unusual it's extremely hard to do for people who are used to being surrounded by sounds.

NCT DREAM REACTION
To you being jealous
Mark Lee
Tumblr media
The dude's oblivious to the entire thing and probably only notices because Johnny spelt it out to him or something. He thinks the girl flirting with him is just being nice, and he's just trying to return the favour until you get back from the bathroom, although he feels really awkward the whole time. When you step out of the bathroom to see this girl with clearly flirtatious body language invading your boyfriend's personal space, you initially don't think much of it because you trust Mark. Still, as you approach from across the room, which takes you a while, she's getting closer, and he's getting more uncomfortable. You can see it clear as day, so you're not upset at Mark for not pushing her away for you, but you're upset he didn't push her away for him. You approach the two and immediately take Marks hand and wrap his arm around you, kissing his cheek and asking him 'who his friend is', all whilst sending a glare in her direction. If she doesn't take the hint straight away and keeps trying to chat him up, you put out your hand for her to shake and introduce yourself as Mark's s/o, quickly excusing you two from her presence straight after. Mark can tell that you're upset on the drive home, but he doesn't know what about, so he brings it up to Johnny, who tells him the girl was flirting, and you were probably jealous. When he brings it up to you the next time you're together, he apologises for making you feel that way and reassures you that he loves you and only you. Nothing will change that. He feels terrible until you tell him you're more upset that she was invading his personal space and making him needlessly uncomfortable, then he just feels rather sheepish. You tell him how you wished he could stand up for himself, but you understand that it's just not in his nature to do something like that. After a long talk about it, you two understand each other better on the topic, and your relationship comes out of it all the stronger for it. goals
Huang Renjun
Tumblr media
Kind of insulted that you felt the need to be jealous, really. Like, don't you trust him? He'll reassure you that you're the only one he wants, but then he'll scold you for feeling like he doesn't 1000% place his entire heart in your hands. He's actually kind of mad for a while, so he just goes to his room to cool off so that he can talk to you civilly and rationally when he comes back. When he has calmed down and wants to talk, he wants to get to the route of why you felt threatened by the girl he had never met before giving him her number so that you can try and tackle those insecurities together, as a couple should. Deep psycho-analytical dive into your psyche to try and figure out the best way to reassure you and the best way to make sure this never happens again. He doesn't want your insecurities getting in the way of you two basking in your love for each other, so Renjun tries to nip any jealousy, yours or his, in the bud.
Lee Jeno
Tumblr media
Soft boy, sad boy. Why would you be jealous? Has he not shown you how much he loves you? Has he done something to make you think he'd leave you so easily? Are you looking for a way out of the relationship but want to make it seem as natural as possible rather than just breaking up with him out of the blue? ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT LEAVING HIM??? Jeno somehow gets more insecure in this situation than you do. He thinks that if you're jealous, then he clearly hasn't done his job as your boyfriend right and immediately goes into panic mode. At first, you get confused about what's got him all stressed, then you get worried in case he's remembered an anniversary or something last minute that you haven't. When you ask him what's up, he lets out this tidal wave of apologies and promises, which you barely have time to comprehend before he basically crushes you to death in a massive bear hug. When you finally get it out of him, you sit him down and explain that it has nothing to do with him and that you weren't upset at him; you were madder at the other person flirting with him right in front of you. He still tries to apologise, saying that you wouldn't have felt that way if he had made you realise how much he loved you and would never think of leaving you, but you shut him up with a kiss. You take it slowly as you explain that you never thought like that, you were more jealous that they were all cuddled up to him, even if he was pushing them away, and that you wished you had been the one hanging off his arm because you loved his cuddles so much. Needless to say, he has a pretty easy fix for that, as he scoops you up and drops you on his bed, before jumping on top of you, telling you he can fix all that.
Lee Haechan
Tumblr media
BULLIES YOU. Like, the reason you were jealous will walk away, and this guy turns to you, clinging on to his arm, and smirk. Then he'll do the tongue thing, you know when he pushes his tongue against his cheek when he's annoyed, but he's not actually annoyed this time; he's just trying to get even more of a reaction out of you. He says something about how nice the person is and says he wonders if they'd maybe want to hang out with him sometime, but you know that's a joke because he was pretty quick to shut down all advances at the time. The rest of the day is just him joking around, and if you do something that "upsets" him, like get up to go to the bathroom when you were cuddling, he just goes, 'I bet they wouldn't have left me alone like this.' But, eventually, he sees you've had enough of it and feels a little bad because he knows you were just a little insecure, and he kept bringing it up, so when you're trying to sleep that night, he'll whisper into your ear about how much he loves you, and how he hopes you know he'd never leave you for someone else like that.
Na Jaemin
Tumblr media
His baby???? Sad????? No, big no. As soon as he sees even the slightest indication that you might be feeling the tiniest little bit jealous, he is removing you two from that situation and cuddling you and telling you in a baby voice how much he loves you. He won't go so far as to insult the person, but he makes sure you know he would never choose them over you and is even insulted at the thought. If he can't get you two out of there, he will aggressively hold your hand and make it a point to show you off as his s/o to the other person, almost making them so uncomfortable that they apologise for interrupting,,,,, whatever it is he's trying to do with you. Once the necessary conversation with them is over, he whirls around to you and sorta just blocks them out, standing between you two, so they can only see you back, and you can only see him. Then he loudly declares how much he loves you and tells you all the fun COUPLE stuff he has planned for you guys to do together, and then he sort of just hugs you while trying to walk away at the same time. It's a site, alright.
Zhong Chenle
Tumblr media
LAUGHS just, the situation is absurd to him, so Chenle does what Chenle does best. He laughs because he doesn't know what else to do. The person flirting with him gets confused, as do you, so you share a look with eachother, and look back at him, and he's still laughing. It gets to the point that everyone is uncomfortable, and he manages to stop, but by then the person has decided that it's just easier if they leave instead of keep trying to persuade him into flirting back. They might try again in the future, but Chenle will see them, remember what happened, feel really awkward and head in the opposite direction. When you finally drag him away, he's constantly apologising through giggles, but you reassure him it's all fine. He still feels bad, so as an apology he buys you an apple watch your favourite snacks and gives you lots of cuddles.
Park Jisung
Tumblr media
Babie feels bad. He just loves and cherishes you so so much, he would never want you to think he was interested in someone else. He's also hella awkward, you're most likely his first relationship, and also first person in years he's really known outside of SM, so he's not really up to date on how to do ~interactions~ so he goes to Jaemin for help, and that was sort of useful in that now you've got a massive boy stuck to your side begging for forgiveness. He doesn't know what to do so he just does what his hyungs suggest. He also just does everything for you, to prove that he loves you. Sure, it was fun having him get anything you wanted for the first half of the day, but by lunchtime you felt bad, so you pulled him to cuddle on his bed and told him you forgive him, and apologised for feeling jealous, too.

(1/2) Hello, I've written in before and y'all helped me a lot the first time so I thought I'd write in again. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I might fall somewhere on the ace spectrum and have been looking into it for awhile now but... something I'm still struggling with is that I used to identify as one thing and came out to some people as such, but am now afraid to commit or come out as aspec. There's one post on here that had the tone of being annoyed by people who are afraid to...
(2/2) come out as ace and it makes me feel bad and guilty and honestly like I SHOULDN'T come out because I'm one of those annoying people who are unsure. I have an ace pin but haven't gotten up the courage to wear it on anything because I don't want to come out again or explain what asexuality is or just face an general BS. Do you have any advice for how to combat these conflicting feelings? (Also, sorry! Idk why tumblr keeps eating the 2nd half!)
Hey anon! I'm really sorry if we've posted something that has made you feel that way, I have always, and will always say that if you're not ready (or even never ready) to come out then you should never feel pressured to, sharing that personal information should be entirely on your terms. I think I know the post you're referring to (although can't for the life of me find it to check?), but I understood it as more reassuring in that like. you don't need to be 100% certain, especially since you can't prove a negative (that sexual attraction isn't there) only that it hasn't happened so far. This is why we have to assume that if it hasn't happened by now it probably won't or we'd all just drive ourselves mad wondering 'What If'.
But I've been where you are, not wanting to come out or commit to a label in case I was wrong and worried I might 'change my mind'. It might help you to write down the specific things you notice yourself thinking or feeling to do with your sexuality day to day, it might reassure you in your identity to keep a record of how you feel in the moment, and that way even if you do end up feeling or identifying differently you'll know how you definitely felt right now, and hopefully it'll help you to trust yourself more too! I did this when I was questioning my gender (I'm genderfluid so I didn't always feel the same way) and it helped to be able to point to a specific day when I was certain about facts to do with my gender.
I know sooo many people who identified one way and later realised they were something else, virtually no one gets it right first time, and people don't think worse of them for taking time to work it out (if they do they're probably shitty people anyway).
In terms of coming out advice, I'm afraid I don't have much, I typically don't come out to people unless I know they're going to be okay with it already, but if you know you're going to have to explain, I would prepare a quick definition in advance, it doesn't have to be comprehensive or explain every facet of aspec identity, just yours, and that can be as simple as "I don't like people like that" if you want, but preparing it in advance means you avoid the awkwardness of not being able to get your words to cooperate and explaining badly. If you think someone might ask you something you don't want to answer, you can always just say "That's a personal question, I don't want to talk about that with you", or variations thereupon.
You could also hit them with facts like that approximately 1% of the population is asexual or that the ace community has exited under that name since the 70s if they try to invalidate you, but remember that you don't owe them anything if they're being shitty to you.
(also, dw about tumblr eating your asks, it happens sometimes, but if anyone is out there who's been waiting weeks for an answer, it might have got lost so maybe send it again, or keep an eye out for updates if it might take a while to get to)

Going in blind: Watching season 1 for the first time. Random thoughts.
Tumblr media
This show is kind of nice because I have no memories of the original She-Ra show, or even any of He-Man, honestly. I'm not sure if I ever watched the original, so I have no frame of reference for how the series is "supposed" to be. I can just take it and judge it as is.
Of the bat, all I know is that supposedly She-Ra and Catra get together as a romantic couple later, but I'm also a huge My Hero Academia fan and the fandom around me ships every character with every other character, so for all I know that might just be shipper wishful thinking I've been seeing and hearing. Given fandoms for Gravity Falls, Thor, and Supernatural ship even siblings together, I've learned not to trust anything except for what I see in the series for myself.
By the way, this isn't a review, just random thoughts and comments I'm having as I'm going through season 1 for the first time.
Episodes 1 and 2: Right off, I really like Catra's "No duh" response to Adora about the truth of the horde. She knows they've been lying to them and have been doing terrible things, she just doesn't care. If she and Adora play their cards right they could end up being the ones in charge and then they'd have all that power. Not necessarily to make things better but enough to where they could do whatever and live however they want. That's a good build for an antagonist. Not ignorant to the fact what they're doing is wrong, just simply so selfish that they don't care.
Episode 3: It really feels like there was no good reason why Glimmer didn't just outright introduce Adora to her mother and every reason she should have known it was a bad idea to try and hide her for a surprise. Being a former horde soldier she'd probably get treated with hostility if Glimmer brought her to the front gate but you'd almost guarantee Adora would get arrested or outright killed if she got caught while no one else knew she was there.
On the other side, we have Hordak being pretty intelligent in promoting Catra. He probably knows Shadow Weaver already doesn't like him, so it's not like he's losing anything making her upset with him, and it's clear she favors Adora way more than Catra, so that little bit of advancement towards Catra probably goes a long way in earning her loyalty to him and a person on the inside with Shadow Weaver.
Also, I'm not the only one who saw Madam Razz and immediately thought Adora had found her Yoda, right?
Episode 4: I don't know how it was in the original She-Ra and He-Man series but I kind of like She-Ra being this title from legend. Adora is not the first She-Ra, given what Razz was talking about with a Mara, so instead of being something new, impressing everyone with abilities they've never seen before, and creating the legend, Adora is placed in a position WAY over her head where she's having to live up to what came before her.
Episode 5: Calling it now, as long as her personality is genuine I think Scorpia is going to be one of my favorite characters in this show. She's...endearing, I think is the best word. She's like a mix of Kronk and a nicer Shego.
For a little bit I thought Mermista was voiced by the same actress who played Poison Ivy in the Harley Quinn animated series. She's not but they do have the same kind of Daria-ish inflections, thus by confusion. Given the prom episode, Sea Hawk feels kind of like her Kite Man.
Episode 6: Okay, now it's between Scorpia and Entrapta who are likely to be my favorites by the end of this. She's fun and quirky.
Episode 7: Quite the lore drop. Shadow Weaver was once a Mystacor sorceress known as Light Spinner. I like to imagine we'll get more on that later. Her haunting Adora reminded me of the Teen Titans' episode where Robin was similarly haunted by Slade. This didn't go as far as that but that's probably for the best, since TT had two and a half seasons to build that dynamic up with Robin and Slade while we're only now halfway through the first season.
Episode 8: Well dang. Again, I don't know for sure if Adora and Catra do end up together but boy do I buy why they're shipped together after that dance. Also, good on Bow for standing up for himself. It's clear that he'll always be Glimmer's friend and this won't change that but that doesn't mean he has to just accommodate her. I understand where her issues stem from but I am still glad he gave her a reality check. It helps him feel a little more like his own character.
Also, another nice little bit of lore and worldbuilding. Scorpia's a princess, the horde landed where her people lived, and they seemed to join them willingly.
Episode 9: Surprisingly don't have a lot to say about this other than I don't buy for a second that Entrapta is dead (EDIT: She's not). This was mostly action.
Episode 10: Not going to lie, this one kind of annoyed me a little, at least the first half. The conversation between Glimmer and her mother saved it a bit. It was a bit of a trifecta. You have the alliance breaking apart, saying that the loss of Entrapta only happened because they were all together...even though Entrapta only "died" because of her own machine obsession that caused her to deliberately walk back into the purging chamber. You have Entrapta who might be turning to the horde's side because she feels abandoned by the other princesses...even though they thought she was dead, and again it was her fault they got separated. And you have Glimmer refusing to tell her mother that Shadow Weaver's dark magic has caused her powers to go on the fritz and is causing her great pain. It just feels like none of this would be an issue if most of these people would stop being self-absorbed for three seconds and talk like any normal person would. It feels very CW drama, like something I'd see in a bad season of Arrow or The Flash. The only person whose issues I buy is Adora, who is basically a soldier who was never properly raised to deal with emotion or loss and is already struggling with the burden of being She-Ra, the legendary savior. I get why she's beating down on herself for not being able to do more even if nothing that happened was her fault.
Episode 11: JEEEEEEEEEZZZZ, that was such a good episode! Focused entirely on Adora and Catra and their past together. Like, just showing someone this episode alone could probably get them to want to watch the series. That was everything you needed to know about their dynamic and history together.
Also, that moment when Catra and her past self are looking at each other, while obviously Catra takes the opposite lesson, it reminded me of this fanart I'd once seen of Jason Todd, the Red Hood, looking at his past self as Robin. The past says to the future "You ruined everything". Catra could be happy but, ironically for someone who hates Shadow Weaver, she's probably going to be a lot like her, sacrificing everything for power and ambition.
Given the way she looked, I'm guessing Shadow Weaver is either addicted to the power of the Black Garnet or she suffered some kind of past injury and its power is the only thing keeping her going. Or both.
Episode 12: I'll be honest, Swiftwind being able to talk kind of gobsmacked and I needed a moment to recover. What a great voice they chose for that character.
So She-Ra is kind of like the legendary heroes from Rising of the Shield Hero, coming from a long line of people chosen to wield the sword. I tend to dislike chosen one types of stories because I think prophecy takes a lot of weight out of the character's actions, so this and Avatar are more what I like. The MC is special but not the only one who's ever been special and they can still easily fail. Their destiny was only to be able to use the weapon, not that they would succeed in any specific purpose.
And dang, Catra's turn against Shadow Weaver happened faster than I thought it would but I'm not complaining. That great "This is what you've really been preparing me for" speech and Hordak, again, being an intelligent villain. "Oh, this experiment could net me a MASSIVE gain and all it could potentially cost me is this rock I already gave away to someone who lately hasn't been producing any results and has been consistently disobeying me. Yeah, I'm going to let this play out."
Episode 13: That was kind of a brutal fight between Adora and Catra. Not the worst I've ever seen even in other shows for this age range (Samurai Jack, for example) but those punches are connecting and those claws are leaving marks.
Also, maybe I'm just misunderstanding the exact situation but shouldn't the good guys' side be called the Resistance instead of the Rebellion? Being a rebellion would imply they are rebelling against an established power or rule over them, but the actual conflict we are shown is the established power and rule that is the kingdoms of Eternia resisting an outside force that wishes to establish a new order over them.
Season 1 verdict: I'm into it. I'm definitely more invested in the villains' side of things but that's not a fault of the series, that stuff is just way more geared towards me than the current princess stuff. I actively am at attention whenever the horde main characters are on screen. For the good guys it's mostly Adora and the She-Ra stuff I'm invested it. That isn't to say I have any real dislikes for that side. Bow especially I'm liking much more than I thought I might. He has kind of this gravitational pull around him. You will be his friend regardless of how much you might want to resist. He's definitely the rock for everyone else to hold onto.
Minor side note, kind of like Korra in Legend of Korra, I love how even when her powers aren't active Adora is shown to still be pretty strong physically with how easily she was lifting people up at the prom.
And I was right, Scorpia is my favorite side character.
On to season 2!

Correspondence
Pairing: FrUk
Word count: 1954
Classification: Historical one shot (Victorian human AU)
"Uncle, another letter has arrived for you."
Peter, the newsboy that was also Arthur's nephew had come by again like every week to bring him a copy of the newspaper and any correspondences that were sent to him. By doing this, his uncle would pay him a shilling.
"Leave it by my desk, boy."
The Brit replied, walking out of the kitchen holding a cup of tea to his little studio where his living room was too. He lived in a modest house, enough for an unwed and lonesome gentleman. He glanced at the paper and letter left by Peter and recognized the scarlet seal of the envelope, and rolled his eyes, another one of those letters, how many have there been? At least 20 of them in the time of two months.
"You keep getting those letters with the same seal, yet you never reply to them."
The child questioned, staring at the man curiously as Arthur went to pick the card and threw it to the fireplace, just like he did with the other letters. He never even opened them, just threw them into the fire as it were scrap paper. The observant pageboy had been attentive, seeing that his uncle had little to no interest to read the content of those letters and simply got rid of them every single time. Yet week by week, letters with the same seal would come by, whoever was writing to his uncle was definitely very insistent.
"Indeed, because they are filled with nothing but rubbish."
He groaned, going back to his desk where he picked up the paper and opened it up to have a brief morning read before starting to work. The English man was a writer, his writings however were mostly unrecognized and never published. Constantly rejected and believe to be utter nonsense. Arthur was fascinated with technology and how rapid it advanced so he wrote all sorts of short stories imagining how the future might be, but all of them were turned down. The Brit was known for being a stubborn fellow, so he kept writing and he hoped that this project he was working on would finally get approval.
"But how do you know if you never read them?"
Did this boy not want to get paid? Peter was a talker and he knew that but what was this rebellious attitude towards his uncle? Arthur wouldn't tolerate it, taking the newspaper and smacking the child's head softly, without hurting him.
"Don't question your uncle, I'm your elder!"
The child nodded, covering his head when he saw the Brit raise the paper. It was a genuine question however, he never opened the letters and just tossed them to the fire. He had considered opening them up and reading it but his uncle would surely find suspicious if the letter didn't arrive weekly, so he didn't.
"Is it your mother pressuring you into marriage? Although that is not the seal from Madam Kirkland."
Peter still wanted to know, he was a child after all and curiosity was within his nature. He had heard from his mother that Arthur's mother was very concerned about him still being a bachelor and living in London alone, surviving just by writing, which hasn't been prosperous and he had to make several loans here and there. The boy was very aware of the women's gossip, always overhearing conversations or reading letters he shouldn't, he very much enjoyed the family gossip as much as the ladies.
"What? How do you know- I shouldn't even be having this conversation with you. What do you know anyway? You're merely a newsboy!"
The English man frowned, putting away his newspaper as he sat down on his desk and raised his teacup, sipping the steaming beverage. He was only upset because Peter was right, his mother was in fact already arranging a marriage for him with a wealthy family friend from the Netherlands. He knew of his mother's concerns and understood them. The truth was that he was not uninterested in marriage but his mother worried about his stability, marrying him off would not only solve his economic problems but also bring certain relief to his mum. He knew that there was no way of stopping her so the only way she would leave him alone was by proving her that he was fine by himself and to do that, he needed to publish his book.
"What about Lady Abelsson? I heard she would be visiting this summer with her brothers."
This was news for Arthur, he had no idea about that. His mother had definitely invited her and her siblings over, how wonderful, even the newsboy knew about it and not him, he was supposed to be the groom! It was outrageous, he would write a letter to mummy and express his discontent with making decisions without even asking him for his availability and that he was tired of being a puppet that was constantly pushed around. He did not want to marry Lady Abelsson and he did not want to marry any other woman! He was a lone wolf and would remain in that way, an eternal bachelor.
"Get out of here, at once!"
Peter noticed the change in the tone and hurried out of the place, without even asking for his shilling. Perhaps he overstepped his boundaries this time but by the look on his uncle's face, he didn't even have a clue about the news of Lady Abelsson. Arthur would deny it but the boy knew that he was his uncle's right-hand man, always keeping him updated on the rumors and gossips around the city and the Kirkland family.
"Marriage, nothing but a loveless transaction. Absolutely ridiculous."
He said under his breath, opening up a shelf in search of a paper to write to his mother and give her a piece of his mind. He was just looking for his fountain pen, another marvelous invention of the century when he heard a knock on his door, already assuming it was Peter, he shouted:
"Listen to chap, I'm not giving you a single shilling-"
He was speechless when he found Viscount Bonnefoy standing by the door and not his annoying nephew. This was even worse, the devil himself had come all the way from Paris to torment him as if the letters weren't enough to haunt him.
"Non, I don't need you shilling anyways. It's good to see you, sir Kirkland."
The French man sneered, taking off his top hat as he entered the house as if it were his own. The Brit still needed a moment to process everything that was going on. Why was Francis here? Why was he standing in the middle of his studio?
"I was doing just fine before your unwanted visit, monsieur Bonnefoy."
A chuckle came from Francis, that arrogant laugh that the English man hated. He still wasn't understating why this man was in London, if not to only bother him and ruin his day. The Viscount had no business in his city and should, in fact, leave at once.
"I see you're miserable as always, perfectly wretched."
The French man had a smirk across his face as he walked around in circles in the small studio owned by the Brit. The place clearly lacked decorations, it was clean at least but so tasteless. Francis would gladly redecorate the room for his friend if the English man would let him, of course.
"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be in Paris? Doing whatever the hell a Viscount should do?"
Arthur had met this man not long ago when he went to Paris to visit some family members, and he was introduced to the French man in a ball. Then both of them had a few too many drinks and well, regretful events happened that the Brit was still trying to get past by. Yet in that week that he was in France, he had spent almost every day with the Viscount and without a doubt, he could say that he very much despised Francis for numerous reasons. However, he was also in love with the Viscount, but he tried to deny those feelings at all costs.
"To pay you a visit, my dear friend."
Francis purred, picking up Arthur's teacup and having a sip from it. Tea was alright but he rather has wine, although he didn't expect the Brit to have any, judging by the size of his house and the way he was dressing. Not that it mattered, of course, the French man had plenty of money and time to spend in transforming his lover into a wealthy aristocrat without really being one.
"Whatever for?"
The Brit snatched back his teacup and drank what was rest of it. Did the Viscount not have any manners? First, getting inside his house without even asking for permission and then drinking his tea? He really was a stuck up twat.
"You never responded to any of my letters, I thought that you were perhaps ill, or dead!"
Francis was already expecting something like this to happen. After all the fun they had in Paris, he knew that Arthur would try to reject his true feelings and try to forget their past, but no. The Viscount wouldn't let his lover go so easily, he was here to take him back to France with him. Where they could be free, live comfortably and the Brit wouldn't have to worry about money and write whatever futuristic fictions he desired.
"As you can see I'm neither ill nor dead, so order your fine horses and go back to party city where you belong!"
The English man couldn't do this, he was still very much in love with the viscount but whatever was that they had could not possibly be. It was forbidden, it was wrong, it wasn't natural! That's what he was told at least, but his heart raced every time he saw Francis' eyes and he melted with every touch of the man, but they simply could never be. So he burned the letters without reading them in fear of his heart winning against his head.
"I will, but not without you."
Francis persisted, grabbing the Brit by the wrists that immediately produced a blush on Arthur's cheek while those emerald eyes looked at him with despair.
"No, you're out of your mind, now let go of me you git!"
The French man didn't let go, he did the exact opposite. Holding him tighter and pulling him closer as he leaned towards Arthur's face. He could feel Arthur's accelerated breathing and the blood rushing through his veins as they got even closer. He already knew that whatever the Brit had to say was not going to stop him and actions speak louder than words anyway and every reaction that the English man was having was positive.
"Francis, don't, please. You know that I won't be able to reject you and this will bring us nothing but sorrow afterward, let's not do this to us."
They were at the point of no return already, and the French man wouldn't take a step back. He pressed his lips against his lover's, brushing against each other softly and gently, sweetly intoxicating and enjoying the taste of those longed lips.
"You better not regret this, frog."
He fell again, completely succumbed to the viscount's charms once more. Francis simply smiled at him, pulling him into an embrace as the Brit rested his head on the French man's chest. Perhaps this was what destiny had separated for him, an unconventional romance with an unlikely lover. Who would have thought that ignoring correspondences could ever end up in such a joyous encounter?

Conversation
On Helena: #1
Context: I am playing Helena in a Vampire, the Masquerade game. Setting is Boston, Necropolis, 2015. Helena is mortal, currently a ghoul to another player character (Klaxon). The player characters are Klaxon (Nosferatu), Elyas (Tremere), Keri (Gangrel), Garreth (Gangrel). Our DM is Gore. Some of this conversation will be edited out as I have done this to focus on Helena and her character.
Garreth OOC: -points to Helena- baby
Alex: Helena agreed, but is also aware Garreth is also baby, so it's like the same feeling you have for the baby sitter that's two years older than you are.
***
Gore: Garreth and Klaxon have to make it out alive as they went into it. But y'all split the party on me so I can't gaurantee that.
Alex: Helena will probably come rushing back. I don't think she will move in just due to how complex her plant/heat lamp set up is.
Gore: She could leave them with her plant dealer, Gus?
Alex: She could but it's like leaving your cat with your best friend. You trust them but that's your baby, and you will worry constantly.
***
Alex: She wouldn't cope well with Klaxon having monster sex- she heard something about him fucking a demon, and having also SEEN Necropolis...so she looks at her dorm and values the quiet.
Gore: He can't bring them topside, so Helena's safe.
Alex: I don't think she knows that.... but I do think she'd miss him then.Oh my god is she the mum friend? I think she is! "AT WHAT TIME DO YOU CALL THIS?? YOU DIDN'T TEXT ME I WAS WORRIED?". Either way, she's still on the fence about her dorm and I can't push her any which way.
***
Gore: Has she heard stories about how brutal U.S cops are?
Alex: No, she's pretty shut in. She came to America for study and books, so thats EXACTLY what she's doing.
Gore: She's not aware of the political climate of it?
Alex: No, she's one of those 'I don't read the news'
Gore: Aight
Alex: I never really thought about it but I guess she is autistic. The 'outside' world doesn't really interest her on a larger scale. She's more about tasks and interests. The only reason I'M not like that is because of my flavour of anxiety being worried that I'm not a good person. I think Helena's is more about just interacting with people and her routines. She DOES love the World and humanity, but she's much more of a fan of nature because she's always found it hard to connect with people. This doesn't mean she's NASTY, she's nice to everyone and wouldn't hurt a fly - she just simply doesn't understand things like racism/homophobia on an emotional level. Historically though, of course she does.
***
Gore: What happens if one of her friends gets hurt?
Alex: She's never had that problem before really. The best example so far is with Patrick (NPC)when she was like OH GOD OH NO. Her first thoughts were practical though "I have to find him and give him first aid or whatever I can do". She has her panic attacks but like when Klaxon had his she throws it out the window and focuses on what needs to be done. She wants to be useful, she wants to help if she's needed in a people situation. Those situations are rare though, she's always been in her own little world, her parents hoped she'd get better with this but she's managed so far.
***
Gore: What if (helping) gets her into more trouble?
Alex: Hm. I think she takes things as it comes. If she was an element, she would be Earth. She's not selfish, she weathers the storm as best she can. THAT attitude has got her into trouble though, as she's still learning to be like "I need sleep" and "I don't want this.
***
Gore: Sometimes the Earth gets shaken. Would she take a direct attack to defend one of her new friends or have one of them defend her?
Alex: Hm, she would take a hit. She is vaguely aware people usually need to defend her, and feels bad about it. She's still never really had friends though, so this is new...AND in her mind she can always patch them up - even if that isn't strictly true.
***
Gore: How far can she go w/o realising she needs to patch herself up?
Alex: I mean she rushed out the door to help someone else at MIDNIGHT. For comparison, I would call the authorities and get some sleep since I would be useless sleep deprived. Helena doesn't even really put that as her first thought because she hasn't had anyone to really rely on (aside from her parents) so she feels like she has to do everything herself. She is Very respectful of authority figures but doesn't expect them to solve her problems, even with her parents, she realises in their old age she can't rely on them anymore. As a result, I think she'd go pretty far because she KNOWS the body and how it works. She will always think she can take a little more, but in reality she can't predict the impact and just how hard the next hit will be.
***
Gore: So if her legs are gone, she would still crawl to others to heal them?
Alex: Oh yeah, if she can move and has bandages. If not, she would at least move to be with them. Helena would be happy to go and then come straight back if Klaxon told her to and if she was given a use. Go there and come straight back we need to you to X for this thing.
***
Gore: You are a Brit in Boston in 2015 I gotta say that as well...
Alex: She's been fine at Uni
Gore: Up until now
Alex: It's only been a day for her, she doesn't get that yet. At Uni she does largely what she's told if given a clear reason.
Gore: Yeah but here's the thing about med school. It is highly competitive and people are always looking for excuses to flunk people out.
Alex: True. But she is VERY GOOD at what she does. I imagine that does annoy others but also it's hard to be mad at her because she's quiet about it as well as sweet, lovely and helpful to most people she meets. She knows her place with people in general, and it is at the bottom.
Gore: Some Boston people would say that you belong in the harbour with the tea
Alex: and she would clam up and walk on by.
***
Alex: Teachers like her because she's polite, studies hard and is VERY earnest in what she does. Helena making a mistake is rare, so when it happens, some shit is going down.
Gore: It sure will be
Alex: She's going to have to rush in and lie to teachers, she won't like that at ALL. Helena is a good girl but she ain't saying shit about Necropolis. She doesn't fully understand why, but she feels it in her heart to shut up.
Gore: Why?
Alex: Klaxon said they've (kindred) been around forever and have functioned this way. The heart doesn't know the lungs exist but functions anyway, yet NEEDS those lungs. She isn't loyal to humanity like that, her interest lies in medicine and they (kindred) don't seem malicious, from what she's seen.
***
Gore: Wouldn't it be a great medical advancement to study those undead and cryptids?
Alex: Yeah, but not on a huge scale. She knows about medicinal cruelty. How many have been mutilated or hurt in the name of study? With the world as it is now, no. Sure, an ideal world in Helena's mind would be all species working and living together but she KNOWS that isn't going to happen. So she will study by herself, and she's fine with that.
***
Gore: If embraced, would she study herself
Alex: Yeah, absolutely.
Gore: To what degree?
Alex: Not to like 'remove arm' degree, she would do it as needed. Like when they test new skincare on humans "I put this swatch on to see how it works". Blood samples, skin samples, bone study - she would see if she could get books on anatomy for surgery and healing.
***
Alex: The idea of studying forever appeals to her, but the passage of time scares her. She's not ready to be a vampire but she might be if she lost all her connections on the outside. I don't think it would be healthy for her though.
The joy of a mortal life is that you (hopefully) realise eventually that you have to self actualise or you WILL DIE and things will be WRONG.
Gore: What value is your own health when there's injured people?
Alex: Exactly. But I don't think she'd be her own person, she'd dedicate her life to a cause.
***
Alex: She's still developing as a person
Gore: You can develop as a kindred, it happens.
Alex: I think she thinks she might get there (being a kindred) but not at the drop of a hat.
Gore: Funny thing about death, you aren't always ready for it.
Alex: I know that, and she knows that a little. But Klaxon said she could choose, and she would like to. When it comes to big decisions I think she's slow and deliberate, like a plant. She really doesn't like change all that much.
***
Gore: You can't trust those Tremere, they can and will sell you out or use you for a ritual.
Alex: She won't see it like that, she is individual by individual. Like with her plants. HER Aloe Vera is not like any other aloe vera if you look on a deeper level, which she does.
***
Gore: She wanted to be a war medic right, has she done any internships at that level?
Alex: Not yet. She wanted to do her degree first for the skills, learn as much as she could by the boos because it's not something you can or should wing.
***
Gore: Would she squee if she met a moss or grass person?
Alex: Probably. Absolutely. Maybe quietly. She would probably love to learn to help them if they get sick. In retirement I can see her as being the best GP ever. The nurse that gives you breathing room if you have needle anxiety. The doctor that believes you and gives you a refferal. She is GOOD and I love her.
