#like maybe it’s just me but if i were an interviewer i would.. idk… SHORTLIST PEOPLE WHO I THOUGHT COULD DO THE FUCKING JOB

What I really don’t get is job interviewers who make it clear that they don’t want you or don’t think you could do the job well, and when you try to defend yourself they come up with weird fucking contradictions. Like. Why the fuck are you even bothering to interview me at this point. Genuinely why waste your time. I know you’re getting paid to waste this half hour with me instead of doing your actual job, but still
#i don’t want to go back to job hunting man i really really don’t. my knee needs to fix itself and my current job needs to hire me#permanently because ahhhhhhhhhh#i interviewed for a fucking FAST FOOD position about 4 months before i started my current job and the stone cold fucking audacity#the interviewer had was mind boggling. she was fucking arguing with me. she was so snide about everything i said#i was like. i don’t know what you expect from me. this is fast food. most of your workers are 16 year olds who hate their lives#i am here because i hated teaching so much that switching to food service seems fine; and you guys are in the area and hiring#i was upfront about this. like do you expect me to go in with a huge corporate smile? i won’t! learn to appreciate honesty#these are the same ‘nobody wants to work anymore’ motherfuckers. bro i APPLIED. i have a completely clear schedule. I WANT TO WORK#i should’ve walked out of that interview man. i’m so glad she didn’t hire me#i also had this interview for a dental nurse position (it still hurts that i didn’t get that because it would’ve been fucking ideal)#and she was asking questions about how i handle stress and i was like ‘yeah i’m fine’ and she was like ‘but didn’t you just say you left#teaching due to stress?’ and i was like ‘no that’s not what i said. i left due to the level of responsibility’#‘well being a dental nurse also requires a lot of responsibility’ woman unless you’re planning on making me do 50+ hours of unpaid#extra work; in my home; lesson planning… no the fuck it doesn’t#like the only work i’d be taking home as a dental nurse would be my coursework to get the qualification and that’s not at all the same thing#i’m completely fine with studying at home unpaid. i have myself paid out of pocket to study at home. like.#it just really felt like she didn’t want me and didn’t think i could do it. but then she invited me to the next stage of interviews anyway#just to ultimately reject me. whyyyyyyyy… you could’ve saved both of us half an hour & me a 10 minute drive bro#like maybe it’s just me but if i were an interviewer i would.. idk… SHORTLIST PEOPLE WHO I THOUGHT COULD DO THE FUCKING JOB#i don’t know. maybe in interviews i’m saying something really wrong or putting my foot in my mouth or i just have a noxious personality#in which case to be honest i would rather just straight up be kicked out of an interview. i would so much prefer to hear#‘i think we’ve heard enough. thank you for your time but i can tell you right now that i don’t think you’re a good fit for the position.#best of luck in the future’ than ‘it was so nice meeting you; we’ll call you’ and then it’s a rejection#when you fucking Knew it was going to be a rejection. like why keep me there!! why give me any level of hope that i’m going to be escaping#unemployment any time soon. BRO#i respect every company that has refused to even interview me so much more than the ones that have interviewed me just for the fucking sake#of it and sent a manager who was rude as hell#if you don’t think i have the experience or am unsuitable you can just say that bro#personal#rant

i really hate when job applications require you to have a working with children check and a police check to even apply. i’m not about to drop several hundred dollars for background checks for a job application i’m probably never even going to hear back from, i can’t afford that, i am UNEMPLOYED.

“Tbh I would like to have the 34 *other* Bergy pics on your shortlist, complete with commentary lolol. And then (if you’re still waiting that is) any other Marchy pics with commentary? xD xD”
here are some more of my favourite marchy pics, complete with my bizarre personal commentary, for anon! the 34 bergy pics can be found here also!
Note: a few people have said they like these posts, so i’m up for taking people’s requests if there’s a particular player they’d like to see! inbox is always open (and anon is on) so just drop me your request and i’ll get working on it :)
Tumblr media
okay so this is some absolutely premium cute marchy!! the smile that manages to be completely self-confident yet in no way cocky? the polite little wave as he surveys his audience who, if i recall correctly, were booing him heavily?? oh i do love you mr rat. marchy is fantastic and i have so much respect for the way he deals with his reputation across the league and the excessive amount of shit he gets.he knows what people think of him yet doesn’t seem to let it get to him. i have so much love for him.
Tumblr media
KATRINA IS LEGENDARY. before moving on to the part of the image that gave me whiplash when i first saw it, we’re back to talking about brad’s smile. i think i said it in my last post but he really is one of those people who smiles with their whole face - even if you just saw his eyes in this photo you can immediately tell that he’s got that little grin on his face and that’s adorable tbh. now onto the d*lf mug (censored bc i fear the dodgy underground porn blogs these days)… i don’t even know where to start. i feel like he very proudly bought it for himself. and it’s like the only mug he ever wants to drink out of. just my take. i also think the longer hair really suits marchy ngl
Tumblr media
ahhh the boys and their dirtbag christmas suits 💛 highlights of this image are the suit jacket that is definitely just one size too small for this absolute man rocket, and the pants with “FRAGILE” plastered all over them - very relatable if not at all festive.
Tumblr media
gay rights are stored in the rat!!! i’m glad marchy has been pretty open about his support of LGBT stuff, particularly within hockey. also i feel like some of the stuff he’s said in interviews or social media (esp re: lickgate) manages, even if not intentionally, to be quite diminutive towards implicit homophobia or ‘toxic masculinity’ within hockey. okay maybe that that was poorly expressed but basically he just doesn’t give a shit and appears very open and accepting and i think that’s super nice. this picture also makes for a good reaction image when someone says something dumb
Tumblr media
short kings love.jpeg !! a wonderful example of the love that brad shows his teammates on a regular basis, despite his constant chirping. i have no real opinions on torey krug (no h8, i just don’t think i’ve seen that much of him off ice so idk) but him and marchy are quite the duo tbh, i live for their back and forths on twitter - more on that later - and they seem to love each other an awful lot, it’s v cute :^)
Tumblr media
that’s my pest™. honestly i think lickgate is one of the best scandals in recent hockey history. when looking for a good image of this is saw an article where some dipshit reporter was outraged about it and was like “how would you feel if someone just came up and liked you?” i mean what if someone just came up and started punching you or hip-checked you into the wall????? hockey is a nasty game a lot of the time, and instead of giving people concussions or broken bones (not that he hasn’t in the past ik…) marchy managed to make opposing teams just as angry, if not moreso, just by licking players. i think it’s fucking hilarious. and most of them took it well in hindsight anyway - i think it was komarov who said he kinda liked it lmaoooooo. peak bradley kevin antics if you  ask me
Tumblr media
every pic from the china trip has such a special place in my heart. this is just an all-round adorable photo and brad is looking gorgeous in the sunlight and his backwards cap
Tumblr media
brad waving the towel in surrender is just about the funniest thing i’ve ever seen someone do in the penalty box… i can’t believe they gave him a 10 minute misconduct for it, something i think they’d wouldn’t have done if it had have been someone else. at least someone in this league has a goddamn sense of humour. the penalty minutes stat in the corner just makes this even better
Tumblr media
brad, once again, showing us how we should deal with people talking shit about us - just get on board with it. i love how much he’s just embraced his massive nose and his height and his general reputation. idk if it’s really deliberate but i think it’s such a good message to send, and it makes for some pretty funny stuff too.
Tumblr media
brad single-handedly keeps nhl refs in a job. in my bruins drinking game™ you have to take a shot every time the ref has to physically restrain marchy (2 if it’s because he was going to get revenge or fend for bergy) and you could get fucked off that alone during some games. it was nice to see him not actually get suspended this year, but i will always love that he’s such a physical player and quite the pest on the ice :))
Tumblr media
me: *slaps helmet of brad marchand* this bad boy can fit so much personality.
really though, can you believe he’s managed to squeeze more charisma into only 5 feet and 9 inches than 85% of the league combined… very cute picture, and always lovely to see him by bergy’s side on the ice where he belongs
Tumblr media
oh my goddddddd how fucking cute is this though!!!! the hat! the dad energy those jeans and the boots give off!!! his face!! his little daughter!!!!! i can’t take it, my heart is going to burst.
Tumblr media
(gif via @kureally) this is also just so cute, i need a minute. brad has some very powerful eyebrows and this gif displays them wonderfully. this section of behind the b was also pretty sweet all round, and i agree with pasta that the hair is looking pretty first class
Tumblr media
(gif via @murlin09) i am not like into marchy (no tea no shade if u are though), but this gif… whew. i’ll let you come to your own conclusions on this one, gang
Tumblr media
i was not lying when i said more on the brad-torey social media antics earlier. there are some truly iconic chirps (the zamboni one is lethal), but this self-roast just kills me every time. i never once thought i’d read a tweet from the official brad marchand twitter account that opened with “hey shorty” but here we are. “my nose wouldn’t fit” i astral projected the first time i read that. and if you’re wondering what torey said to prompt this, it was simply “hey marchy”. it doesn’t take much for brad to light on you, huh? we better watch our backs
Tumblr media
definitely a favourite marcheron pic right here - the pucks and paddles (i still think that’s a questionable name but maybe that’s a me issue) content is always top notch. if you can find the video, it’s even better, but this picture captures the general energy of the video perfectly. the only thing missing is that brad’s feet aren’t actually on the floor because the height difference is so pronounced that bergy has to lift him. beautiful
Tumblr media
return of the cute brad smile!! a cute yet mischievous little grin, i can only assume he’s restraining himself from laughing at m*tthews fivehead (although who is he to talk with that schnozz. at least he rocks it tbf 👃🏻). not sure blue is really his colour but he’s going for it anyway. that’s my all star!
Tumblr media
it’s been days since this photo first surfaced and i haven’t stopped palpitating. the cutest photo ever, they all look so happy and i love that!!! also how are their wives so beautiful….!? oh my every pixel of this image is just stunning
Tumblr media
i know i included this in my last bergy list but if they can name new york twice i think i can put this on 2 lists, because lord knows it’s even more iconic. i feel like this is a good metaphor for brad marchand: getting up to no good, although still relatively harmless, all the while supported by the considerably more sensible, yet still entertaining, patrice bergeron. additionally, another excellent display of the oft-overlooked fact that this man is built like a motherfucking tank. holy shit
Tumblr media
i wish i could see these boys in suits without my brain immediately trying to think of some sort of au. anyway, i really like this look on brad (unpopular opinion - i love his loud checkered suits as a concept but i don’t think they look good). although he has dark hair, strong eyebrows, and dark facial hai, the all black actually looks really good on him. coffee in hand really adding to the look too - well done, brad “fashionista” marchand.
Tumblr media
ahhhhh i love nothing more than family man marchy 💛 his daughter is adorable - those tiny jerseys kill me - and i love that his son is wearing the all-star jersey omg how cute (he is definitely going to end up taller than brad lmao)
Tumblr media
sometimes i forget that brad is short and then i see photos like this (brandon is 6′5 for reference)…amazing. i relate to the lady on the left on a spiritual level. brad’s face is a mood and a half. his feet are half a foot of the ice at least. i adore this photo.
Tumblr media
(gif via @brandoncarlo) absolutely one of my fav things about watching bruins games is how brad and patrice will always find each other during a celly - nothing beats the 100 hug. this is also just a very satisfying skating gif that i love.
Tumblr media
last but very very very far from least is this. there is literally no need for me to make any comment on this so i’m just going to leave it and go. bradley kevin marchand you are iconic and ily
ayyy this was super fun to do, thank you for requesting it anon, i hope you like!! again, i’m absolutely up for taking requests for more of these lists so hmu if you have ideas :)

books i read in october
will i even read anything this month? MAYBE NOT (i did.)
der gang vor die hunde (going to the dogs), erich kästner  the restored full text of kästner’s fabian, a satirical novel about late weimar berlin and how it is.... going to the dogs. it’s witty, everyone is dancing (and uh, fucking) on the edge of the abyss, fabian sees the end of europe everywhere he looks, but my favourite bits were honestly kästner’s incredibly sharp & funny postscripts (one to the moral censors, one to the art critics - ‘this book is not for confirmees, no matter how old they are’), and the blurb calling berlin ‘der zärtliche moloch der moderne’/’the tender moloch of modernity’. 3.5/5
hier ist noch alles möglich, gianna molinari longlisted for german book prize. a short novel about a woman who decides to become a nightguard at a rundown factory where a wolf has been seen (maybe). mostly, it’s ramblings about borders/boundaries, intrusions and separations of space (the wolf coming into the factory, the fence of the factory, islands etc). it’s interesting, but it’s a bit too long for what it did. 2.5/5
when hitler stole pink rabbit, judith kerr i’ve had this book for like. probably 15 years? god. anyway, somehow i never read it and picked it up now to get it off the unread shelf. it’s a fictionalised account of kerr’s childhood as a refugee after her jewish family leaves germany just before the nazis come into power, and their struggle to make a living and find their place in the countries they escape to. it was really well-done, not overly didactic or sentimental & i should have read it as a kid i guess! 3/5
die liebe unter aliens, terézia mora short story collection. i listened to the audio book, which only has 5 of the 10 stories (which i didn’t know before), so that’s a bit disappointing. anyway, the title means ‘love among aliens’, but sadly there were no aliens :(. just alienated people trying to find something/themselves/etc. i liked mora’s style, but the only story i rly liked was one about a japanese prof who falls in love with a goddess. 2.5/5, gave it 3/5 on goodreads bc i only heard half the stories
buried in the sky, peter zuckerman & amanda padoan i find mountaineering disasters morbidly fascinating & am kinda obsessed with them (throwback to last year when i read into thin air & told everyone who’d listen not to climb everest & they were all like.... wasn’t planning to but okay??). k2 is only slightly less high than everest but much more difficult technically (all the climbers r like.... oh everest is so easy i wanted a real challenge like.... k). anyway this book is focused on a particular disaster on k2 during which 11 people died, as well as on the position, history, culture etc. of the indigenous ethnic groups that live in these regions & work for mountaineering expeditions (Sherpas being the most well-known but there are others as well!). since the authors weren’t on this expedition, it’s not quite as harrowing and immersive as into thin air  but it’s still plenty harrowing! horrible deaths! the deaths of the high altitude workers were incredibly tragic & while obvi the mountaineers’ deaths are sad too, i feel like they know what they’re getting into & they’re not doing it out of economic necessity but for like... fun? the rush? pride? idk. but anyway if you don’t wanna die... don’t go into the DEATH ZONE. it’s literally called the DEATH ZONE DON’T GO THERE. anyway yeah i find everything about extreme mountaineering super fascinating & terrifying & this is a good one, tho into thin air would be still my #1 rec. 4/5
wenn es nur licht gäbe, bevor es dunkel wird, iunona guruli tbh i mainly got this on overdrive bc i hadn’t really read anything from georgia (the country in the caucasus, not the american state). it’s a short story collection (mostly about/set in georgia but written in german) on themes like drug abuse, gendered, sexual & domestic violence and depression, so... not much fun here! there is a dreamlike quality to some of the stories which i think contrasted well with the quite dark themes, but overall the stories were too similar & blended together too much for me, and sometimes the style seemed a bit too laboured. 2.5/5
unter weißen, mohamed amjahid really good, persuasive & engaging examination of racism in germany, accessible without being basic. i haven’t really read a book like this about specifically german racism and its particularities, especially one so recent (it was published in 2017 & the context of the ‘refugee crisis’ is rly important). amjahid (who’s a journalist with die zeit currently) works w/ a lot of personal anecdotes and they are uh. horrible. like, one chapter is about the paternalistic side of willkommenskultur, where he goes to munich train station to interview volunteers welcoming refugees and some of them immediately cast him as ‘helpless ignorant refugee in need of our benevolence’ & dehumanise him to the point that they don’t even register that he’s speaking to them in german like. fuck. 4/5
desintegriert euch!, max czollek (actually finished this a bit later but it goes well with the amjahid book) while amjahid discusses racism in germany both in general terms and specifically islamophobia, czollek focuses on german antisemitism and advocates for disassimilation & alliances between different marginalised groups in rejection of german ‘leitkultur’. also he talks about daniel kahn in a chapter on jewish revenge & i love daniel kahn. 4/5
the white guard, mikhail bulgakov (tr. from russian) look, the situation in kiev after the russian revolution and the multiple military take-overs of the city is interesting and all (tho incredibly confusing if like me you don’t know who any of the factions are or what they want), but where’s the devil? where are the witchy vibes? where is the demonic talking cat? 3/5
der vogelgott, susanne röckel so this was shortlisted for this year’s german book prize and i can totally see why. it’s disturbing, compelling, has a lot of conceptually interesting weird stuff going on and it almost really worked for me. it’s a story about three siblings haunted by a strange & horrible birdgod after their father, a hobby ornithologist and taxidermist, kills a bird he shouldn’t have. while the siblings live very different lives - one goes to a fictional african (?) country to work for an ngo, one is working on her doctoral thesis on a medieval german painter, the third is a journalist researching strange fears and dreams that are troubling the city’s children - all of them become entwined with this birdgod and the cult(s) surrounding it. my problem is mainly that the book uses the ‘too horrible to describe/comprehend’ trope way too much, which is effective the first few times but eventually wears off & just becomes annoying and like.... so what?? also, the first sibling’s chapter uses some very colonialist tropes about the savage religions and customs of the uncivilised natives, and while there is an attempt at subversion here (e.g. the same cult being present in medieval germany apparently), it didn’t feel like enough for me. but overall this is a really interesting, disturbing little book. 3.5/5
king lear, shakespeare (for uni) honestly... i expected more from this, tho to be fair reading it in a rush for a seminar (that ended up getting cancelled anyway) probably wasn’t ideal. overall i just.... didn’t feel anything about anyone (except the YAAAS BITCH vibes for regan/goneril/edmond’s shenanigans), many characters’ choices & actions didn’t make sense to me & i was disappointed that cordelia wasn’t a character as much as a ~pure selfless angel for lear to have feelings about. 2/5
currently reading: the bloody chamber by angela carter which i’m high-key loving, white dancing elephants by chaya bhuvaneswar, also two comics/graphic novels: john lewis’ march series and saga book one

Jeneque Pinnock - @jenequep
Q. You look so at home & at ease in your own skin. We LOVE this confidence about you! Have you always been like this, or has your confidence grown overtime?
A. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a confident person! I think I can credit that to how I was raised, the people I’ve surrounded myself with, and just socialization in general. My parents have always been encouraging and supportive; I grew up believing that I could do and be anything I wanted, believing that I was beautiful, brilliant and boundless - that mindset sticks with you no matter how old you grow!
Q. What is your day job?
A. I’m a Social Media Manager. My professional life has always been an aspect of my life that I’m somewhat private about, however, the development of my career is something I’m extremely grateful for and proud of. I’ve grown to love Digital Marketing and Communication - so why not make a job out of it? Seems only natural.
Q. Describe to us your perfect vacation.
A. Oooouuuu, my perfect vacation is one where I can completely unplug and unwind but at the same time, is packed with excitement (Contradiction? Maybe… But I want both!). Where to? Somewhere that has a little bit of everything -  adventure, a culture that I haven’t yet experienced, history, nightlife. And of course, it would be spent with good company.
Q. If you could summarise yourself into a #hashtag, what would your signature #hashtag be?
A. #BeautifulBrilliantBoundless hahaa, that’s the first thing that came to me and those three words really describe how I feel right now. I feel the most self assured and confident that I’ve ever been, I feel excited about what’s to come for me, and I truly feel limitless in what I can accomplish.
Q. What is your absolute guilty pleasure?
A. Oh laaawd! Your girl has a SWEET TOOTH. I don’t know where it came from or when I developed it, but I just keep craving a lil sweetness.
Nobody:
Me: … Mi feel fi summ niiiice
Q. When it comes to your mind & body, do you stick to a certain diet or get into things like the gym or yoga?
A. GYMMING IT ALL 2019! Lol, yes. I started working out at the beginning of the year - like many people, this was my New Year’s Resolution. Proud to say I’ve stuck with it! I also try to eat ‘well’ - my body naturally doesn’t respond well to unhealthy food, so this has been pretty easy for me. Of course I treat myself every now and then though - water is my drink of choice… and wine, a close second lol
Q. What are your top 3 pet peeves?
A. UGH. I had to think about this because I’m not sure I have any clear pet peeves. I’m the first to admit that I can be very particular but are my peeves petty? Idk idk.
I don’t like poor communicators - that I know for sure. Talk up & talk clear (please)!
Q. Tell us 1 thing about you that would surprise someone when they first met you.
A. Sometimes people are surprised by how warm I am in person. It’s the most consistent feedback I’ve gotten from people who meet me. In the same way online, I’m responding to every comment, answering messages, replying to tweets, sharing feedback, thoughts, recommendations… that’s exactly what you get in person; just ONE authentic me.
Q. What do you love the most about the Carnival season in Jamaica?
A. The music, the vibes, the events, the costumes, the extravagance, the comradery, the meeting of new people, the… everything! I could go on and on. I’ve been blessed to experience carnival in two other countries and Jamaica is still my favourite. Jamaica nice!
Q. What would be your favourite part of your body? Has it always been this way - or has it come with age?
A. I like my legs… I think that’s my favourite. Before it was probably my smile, but I’ve grown to LOVE being tall and embrace the long-legged life haha. The background to this though, is that I was always the tallest girl in my class - always stood out for my height. Now at 4 years old, this isn’t so fun, so it’s great to see how the feature that makes you a little uncomfortable can eventually be one of your best assets.
Q. How would you describe your experience in the 2017 Ms. Jamaica World Pageant? Would you enter another pageant?
A. Girllll, what if I told you that I sometimes forget that I did Miss Jamaica? Much less, that I came 3rd overall? It seems like so long ago in my mind because 2019 Jeneque is so far ahead of 2017 Jeneque (no offence to me). The pageant was a MAJOR growing & learning experience for me. I really came into my own, I found my voice, I solidified my personality and honestly grew into so much more sure of WHO I am. Not to mention all the doors that being on such a large national stage has opened up for me. I really made the most of the experience, I think, and for that I am grateful and proud. As for doing more pageants? I highly doubt that - my current crown and sash are enough for me :)
Q. How did you feel when you found out you were nominated for the Prime Minister's Youth Award?
A. Now this… this is one of my proudest accomplishments to date… and I’ve used the word PROUD a few times in this interview - it’s because I feel that we all need to be proud of ourselves. Being proud does not mean an absence of modesty or humility, but we need to not feel ashamed of or belittle what we have accomplished.
Being nominated and shortlisted for the award (no, I didn’t win), made me know that people are watching! While I’m here putting in work, volunteering, choosing to give of my talents and time to causes I care about, people are taking note. That feels good because when we choose to volunteer, that’s the farthest thing from our minds - we do it because we want to make an impact!
Finish the following sentences:
- Life feels so much better when… you know what you’re about.
When you know who you are, what you stand for, what you believe in, what you bring to the table - your strengths, weaknesses, aspirations - everything becomes so much clearer. You’re able to stand confidently in your purposes. That’s when you’re living your best life.
- My favourite part about living in Jamaica is...
There’s always something to do!
- My favourite Miakalani Swim design is...
WOW. I definitely can’t choose a favourite. The new designs are fire and some of the earliest designs are still classic. Gimme all of ‘em!
Q. Is there anything else you'd like our readers to know about you?
A. I think we’ve covered a lot :) I hope that this lil peep inside my thoughts has made people feel like they know me a bit better. I’m pretty open and transparent through my own social media presence, but these questions were pretty targeted. Big up Miakalani!
