Ooh lily appears to be going down the radfem rabbit hole with that Dworkin defense she posted.
Hope she gets to the part where radfems have a bad habit of supporting right wing groups and generally unintentionally making rights worse for women
Tumblr media
i... i have a lot of thoughts about this. 1. she wasn't just "critical" of the porn industry, she thought of it as intrinsically, inherently violent and sex workers as perpetual victims that needed to be freed, whether they wanted to or not. the idea that marginalized people could do their own pornography in their own terms to reclaim their own bodies and sexuality or, worse even, that some women actively, freely, choose to be sex workers is completely out of the table, which means robbing them of their own agency. this didn't cause people to be critical of the industry. it caused people to marginalize sex workers, often disabled, often already oppressed in some other way, so they industry itself very rarely is properly regulated, which ironically makes it even more abusive, and the sex worker to always being on the edge of becoming criminals, losing their jobs or be at the mercy of police enforcement. LO didn't just went completely mask off on being a fully supportive radfem, she went full swerf mask off. any statement that she ever made about how sex work "is just another job" has been completely and utterly rendered meaningless now. LO just loudly proclaim to any sex worker who could ever be interested to follow her that they're not safe with her, they don't have an ally with her and, as far LO's concerned, they don't have any free will. 2. even if she was trans inclusive, she was still the foundation of SWERFs to cause the irreparable damage that they have done to sex workers and undermining their rights for decades. being trans positive or not doesn't suddenly make that okay. many other people, including sex worker themselves, have already criticized the industry without painting it as inherently flawed and damaging, as not worth saving at all, exactly because they also want it to improve, so why invoke Andrea Dworkin at all... unless you want to associate yourself with the kind of people who actively abuse and make life harder for sex workers?
3. i googled "andrea dworkin transgender rights" and i was about to post the articles that can provide some quotes showing that Dworkin was trans positive on her work (for the time her works were written that is), but then i found this:
Tumblr media
this is rowing using quotes from Andrea Dworkin on a thread where she pats herself on the back for her TERF manifesto. again. you can read it full here: https://twitter.com/jk_rowling/status/1277265589782929410?lang=es of course, one can argue that she was trans inclusive and have actual quotes from her work to show that, inclusive testimonies from people who knew her intimately, as another way to argue against TERF... but is that changing anything? is it really worth it to repair the reputation of a woman injustly accused of being transphobic because her work has been appropriated and used by hateful people like rowing and her associates for decades at this point, if all we gain instead is a woman who would hate sex workers... many of them trans anyway? aren't we just helping SWERF and validating their branch of bigotry? this without even counting how anti-kink her views also come across. maybe LO is comfortable making that trade off. she was rather conflict free when it came to laughing along and promoting a bonafide real life nazi if that meant having someone willing to attack the transfemme person she hates. but i don't think that's an attitude that should be imitated.

this also reminds me i noticed that, as someone who followed her for her mlp discourse opinions a long time ago, that lily got worse after she began to coddle exclus more and more. at one point she did the sensible thing of mocking the way exclus bully ace people which was portrayed in a comic that laciecarchie made. that resulted in exclus making a bunch of most likely false sexual predator claims against lachiecarchie iirc cuz god forbid exclus comprehend that not everyone they call out is secretly also a sexual predator (when all the artist did was...portray teen puberty in a relatively tame manner in their original works) after the comic was made that portrayed exclus rhetoric negatively. at first lily orchard was kind of on the side of inclus for that drama. but after that point she started going down the exclus path increasingly. after deciding through a poor amount of research that she agrees with the stupid queer is a slur discourse drama. i just noticed that after that point she was growing more toxic as a discourser. i guess something must've happened after lily defended laciecarchie for her to end up being pro exclus anyways. because then after that point lily also began to almost full swerf with acting like people only write nsfw scenarios they're personally attracted to irl in a way that resembled hays code rhetoric a lot. which of course was an opinion that a lot of antis defended because why wouldn't they? and i know that happened around the same time lily made her post about her bad writing advice. because from what i remember that advice she made about nsfw was in relation to why she feels sex scenes in stories are largely pointless always. because she genuinely refuses to grasp that sometimes a character can experience character growth from engaging in nsfw acts. she's only gotten worse since then, trying to make the owl house critical become a thing where she's also like demonizing the show's attempts to redeem characters like amity and hunter. and also yes claiming people shouldn't watch the show anymore because season 2 is getting darker than season 1. it's just an all around mess and it makes me not regret dropping support of lily orchard for the reasons i did before she careened more into anti/exclus rhetoric. it's amazing and also unsettling watching what heavy peer pressure from antis can do to even people like lily orchard. i only say it like that because i genuinely thought someone like lily wouldn't give into antis due to how long she was a proshipper for.
--
LOL.
Of course a staunch proshipper will go that way when they can make more money at it.
Maybe she genuinely holds these views. Plenty of dumbass youtubers do. But the fact that they're good clickbait that furthers said youtubers' careers is not incidental. It makes it easier and easier to fall for shitty views and harder and harder to stand up for unpopular ones.
If you want reliable anti-cencorship voices, you need to find them in places with much less of a focus on going viral. Even without a financial motive, twitter's screaming mobs inspire tons of supposed proshippers to whine about the evils of RPF or how their one particular squick doesn't count and should actually be censored after all.
The only other option is to find them in places that disproportionately financially and socially reward anti-censorship views, but those can have their own pitfalls, usually in the form of calling everyone "snowflakes".

Patchwork Heart v. Lily Orchard
To be honest, I was hesitant to make this for a number of reasons: mainly that Patchwork didn’t want me, or anyone, publicly defending them after the fallout that happened last year. To be fair, they did have a good reason for not wanting that. They didn’t want the pot to be stirred even further, especially since they were on amicable terms with each other, for a while anyway. Now, after their explicit permission, I’m defending my friend.
Here’s a link of their entire twitter thread where they rant and vent about how Lily has treated them throughout their friendship and since. As such, this is what this post is gonna be about until I get a clearer picture. I’m leaving Lily’s side alone for now since her thoughts on Patchwork are much more scattered and much less organized (no fault to her or the people asking her on tumblr, anonymous or otherwise). If Lily wants to comment on this post and defend herself, she’s more than happy to. Hell, Patch, if you have anything to add outside of the twitter thread I linked, go right ahead!
I know inducing rage is something I used to do when it comes to defending those I care about, but now isn’t the time for that. I’m gonna keep a level head, not resort to deadnaming and misgendering, not gonna go into personal history with either person, and state upfront that I don’t know the whole story, nor do I claim to. Now then, let’s get started.
First thing to note right off the bat: the bestiality erotica. I notice that when offering commissions now, Patchwork explicitly states no NSFW period, but I can understand if that wasn’t always the case, and they would accept it once upon a time. While I can say no one can be forced to take commissions, people do things out of desperation. They said they needed to feed their family (most likely their in-laws), so I can understand why they would accept roughly $2000 in commission fees for this art that made them uncomfortable then, and certainly does now. (I won’t link said artwork like they did. You’re better off not knowing the details.)
On that note, the money situation. Lily going from $300 to $550 can be attributed to either miscalculations in regards to Patreon fees, a time gap, or both. We know where the $2000 came from. And yes, over $10k was raised to help them get their SSI back... which unfortunately was unsuccessful. Thankfully, they were still able to use it to pay off debts and further supporting their family after their wife lost their job. I can believe that Patchwork Heart didn’t want such a fundraiser. However, I can also believe that Lily persisted anyway because she cared for them. Once upon a time, she cared for them enough to get out of that financial hole.
But I will say this: most people who vent, from personal experience from either end, don’t want a solution: they want an ear. They want to know that they’ve been heard, understood, not rescued. Although, I am sure that they’re grateful for the money: their family, including their adorable cats, doesn’t get to starve.
Now for the insensitive comments. Much like Rebecca Sugar and the fascist symbolism in Steven Universe, Lily had made an observation that Luna would make for a bad parent since she’d probably strangle her baby. This didn’t sit well with Patchwork Heart as they’ve had a traumatic experience due to their stepfather trying to strangle them to death. If Lily knew beforehand, then yeah, she should’ve known better. And as for the ableism (calling them a craven and a, “drug addicted nutcase”) ... yikes! Their disability (physical and mental) prevents them from legally seeking employment. She herself should’ve known that.
As for the accusations of being a TruScum and a SWERF? One of the people they confronted was lying about their age to prey on the already vulnerable people in Lily’s server (and this was after the ToonKriticY2K scandal). They expected her to defend them because some of her patrons have been victims of child grooming and child abuse, not because she was their friend. (I know this person isn’t one of the people Patch brings up in the thread, but they did bring up this particular person in another incident.) And I can honestly say that they’re not Anti-Sex Worker. Some people in their server (won’t say their name) have come forward in considering it, and Patchwork was 100% supportive.
Up until now, they have kept her name out of their mouth. When anyone in their server mentioned Lily at all, Patch would shut them down immediately (if they were online) and after often points delete posts that mentioned her in either a positive or a negative light. Fair; she was still a sensitive topic at the time. And they’d scold people for publicly defending them (including myself.) As for private messages regarding them supposedly experiencing schadenfreude at Lily’s misfortunes, I can confirm that, from my perspective, that didn’t happen, especially when Lily got raped back in October. Other people might have different confirmations, however, so who knows.
As for anything public? Just vagueblogging and one video where they prank everyone into thinking they were gonna give a serious piece about their fallout (which, I recall, Lily having a mental breakdown over before its release.) I’m not gonna go on about who started it or who threw the first punch, because that argument in and of itself is just childish.
I can wholeheartedly believe that Lily has suffered abuse from other past friends, lovers, and family members. However, I know that being abused, especially by several people throughout your life, does not make someone a nice person most of the time. The trick is to notice this behavior in yourself, stop it, and break the cycle so you don’t become an abuser to someone you hold dear to you.
If I’m missing anything, either of you, please let me know.

i'm going to ignore for a second how LO has shown that she's just as gender essentialist as any other terf, in both her own works of fiction as in reality, or that she has even defended a radical feminist that SWERF use as their foundation for their nonsense. those things do contribute to the why i call out LO as terf adjacent, but let's put them aside for a moment. why do people call you a terf when you're a queerphobe or when you generally treat queer people as the enemy to take down? because terfs are the one weaponizing queerphobia in a real world sense.
Tumblr media
this picture was used as an illustrative example of "lesbian being pressured by trans woman to have sex", in this infamous articles from the BBC: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-57853385 terfs are currently using queerphobia as another way to create division in the whole community. once they have managed to convince enough people that queer should be erased, who do you think is going to be next? but not everyone is from the UK in the first place, which would be a moot point to make because do you think terfs care about that? they only see you legitimatizing their position that nobody ever should be called queer, that queer is a bad word to use, that the people who call themselves and their community queer are bad selfish people who want to force you into accepting their identity. it doesn't matter if you're from the US, Canada or any other place, they'll use that as further proof that they're right and that other people who also "force them" to accept their identity are equally as bad and should also be erased. take a guess as to who that could be refering to. as a sidenote... do you really think the UK is the only place in earth with terfs? it's where they're the most prominent and have the most political power, that much is true, but terfs exist everywhere and sometimes they do get to have an impact if given the chance. why do you all think there has been an increasing number of anti trans law in usa? why do some states have outright banned drag performances? let me be clear about this. not being queer is fine. don't wanting to be called queer is fine. correcting people who call you, you individually, the person, queer is totally valid. as long you respect the right of queer people to exist and understand our need to have our own queer community, because we'll always have that as human beings that we're, we can all coexist no problem. but queerphobes like LO don't do that and it's disgusting to even pretend so. she has made post after post about how we, queer people, are self hating morons who are beneath her. she has told anons writing to her about how they should change the name of their identity. she has actually said that "people who reclaim queer should choke". she has made an entire video full of misinformation with the express purpose of convince people in general that they should never use queer, ever, and comparing the people who do with the most hateful horrible kind of people you can meet. i have a whole tag called "lily orchard is a queerphobe" because she has done this so frequently, so blatantly and so obviously that i'm actually baffled that she thinks she's foolling everyone by reducing her hatred for us as simply "don't liking to be called that word." anyone can visit that tag and see that it goes a lot harder than that. i don't know OP, but if all they ever said was that they don't want to be associated with that word because of personal negative experience with it and never said anything about queer people as a group or as a community, then yes, it would be wrong to immediately call them a terf on that basis alone. that's not the case of LO, as i argued above. she might not be exactly the same as a terf... but does she ever make their work a little easier by normalizing their ideas.

Note
I've seen some conservatives who freak out when anime references are in things because anime is Japanese and Japan is a non-Christian nation full of dirty sex-having people and historical tolerance of queerness.
Lily Orchard, reblogger of conservative blogs, SWERF, who never says anything bad about transphobes in any industry but always tears down queer people and queer characters, freaking out about anime references, no matter how small?
It's more telling than she means for it to be.
it's also more evidence of her racist/colonialistic attitudes that the mere fact that a piece of animation dares to reference the animation from a non-white country makes the whole show bad.
