update.

hi there!! its me, linh. and i have an update to give.

it probably surprises no one, but i think its time for me to officially announce that its the end of my time here on tumblr. trust me when i say that i say this with a heavy heart. over the past few months i just realised that ive just kinda outgrown (that sounds so weird to say) writing, tumblr and even kpop in a way.

regarding love to hate you, im so deeply sorry that this how the series is coming to an end, or well... its not. but i really havent felt the desire to touch it at all. or anything for that matter. i will hold that series near and dear to my heart and forever cherish it for how much fun i had creating it. im sorry for leaving it on such a note but i hope you guys can understand and still appreciate the chapters i offered to you guys.

i will keep the blog up, so you guys can go back and read their silly little story again and again. (for those who really really need to know if they make it or not, i will put it in the tags)

and for those few who care, ive been doing really good! im really happier than ever but busier than ever too (uni has been kicking my ass). still, these past few months have been so fun for me and i hope the same applies to you all!!

if you guys want to, you can send me messages because i will still log on every now and then to check up on things. because even though tumblr isnt really a part of my daily routine anymore, i did gain a lot of love for it over the past few years. and hell if the writing itch catches me again, maybe i will post something. its a big maaaybe and right now it looks pretty unrealistic given how busy i am, but never say never i guess

so, it looks like this is a goodbye. but its a good one, a really good one. and i hope you guys understand and see it that way too!!

i completely agree with whatever you have said.....

cultural appropriation is a completely valid problem of our modern world but there can be a lot of overlapping concepts in different cultures ...with completely opposite contexts ... just because a person has painted someone's face black with a philosophical context doesn't mean it gives someone the freedom to judge the painting calling it mockery towards blackface ......

while certainly blackfacing is a problem rooted deeply in racism and cultural misappropriation but you cant overlap it with a piece of art with abstract and philosophical elements .....

protesting just for the sake of it doesn't solve anything... further more it can cause a lot of harm for the innocent parties involved....

gatekeeping traditions and religions is needed to some extent but it becomes a problem when it insults other concepts like philosophy and abstractisism related to different ideas or cultures ....

I feel like sometimes protests are so misplaced.

I got a Youtube ad the other day of some sort of social media influencers reality show where basically you had to make posts on a theme and you would be judged by people like Kusha Kapila, Ankush Bahuguna, Manish Malhotra and others. Now someone tried to portray mind surrounded by darkness by painting their entire bust black and then had a picture of them, painted completely in red, in a curled up position edited on the bust to look like a brain.

The judges panel flipped out on that contestant saying that his post mocks blackface and is inappropriate.

Yes I totally understand that blackface is an absolutely wrong thing. But using black paint on someone's face is not always blackface. Blackface is used in a very mocking and insulting way. The entire intention behind blackface is wrong. But using black as a colour with just it's philosophical symbolisms in a creative way is not blackface. Like if someone tries to portray Goddess Kali onscreen and has to paint her face black then it is not blackface because there is an entire philosophy behind why it has to be black.

Similarly once my friend told me that the swastika symbol should not be used as it was used by Nazis. They just did not get the fact that just because the Nazis used a symbol derived from swastika and used it as an emblem of oppression, it does not mean that the actual symbol loses it's auspiciousness. The real swastika has a different motive, a different purpose and a different meaning.

Cancelling everything, which is superficially related to something wrong, instead of addressing the deep seeded issues just makes the protests lose their point. It drags down creativity but does not solve the real problem.
