The Yahoo Mail API allows developers to access user profiles, mail messages, folders, and more. This beta API is available only through the Yahoo Mail developer mailing list.
First, you will need a Yahoo account. After you have an account, you can set up your app. Once your application is created, you can get an authorization code. Afterwards, you can exchange that for an Access Token.
Next, you will need to set up a password. Your app password will be used to configure WordPress to use the Yahoo SMTP server.
Once you have an app password, you can go to the settings area of your Yahoo account. There you can find your email address and a link to the security area. Click on the security area link and you will see a list of the settings you can access.
If you experience any issues while accessing the Yahoo Mail account, check that your "From" email address matches the one that Yahoo uses. If it does not match, you can use a free SMTP server to send emails.
You can now use the Yahoo Mail API to send postcards, query strings, or retrieve your user's mailbox. You can even strip out attachments from a message.
For private APIs, you can use OAuth authentication. The public API is limited to 2,000 requests per hour per IP. A premium account is required to access the full data.
Yahoo also offers a SOAP API. However, not all languages support SOAP.
