Vivian: Hey Devon. I can always count on you mooching off free drinks.

Devon: Oh please, I'm just here to make sure you're not a blubbering mess. How was the wedding.

Vivian: I told myself I wasn't gonna cry.

Devon: And there it is.

Lippika: It's okay, baby. You just have to remember that she's not gone, just away. You did a good job raising her and now she's left the nest to start her own.

Vivian: I need a beer.

Lippika: I'll get you one.

Devon: To leaving the nest.

Vivian: I just don't want to go home. It's gonna be too quiet. No Julie banging around with her tools, no Noah playing video games all night, no Jasper crying. They even took the dog that barks at everything.

Lippika: If you're lonely you could get another cat.

Devon: Or start living life for yourself for a change.

Vivian: I tried getting back into the dating scene after my divorce but that was around the time Julie got pregnant and I was more concerned about her and the baby. Now I work too much. I'm teaching summer school and I have to keep inventory on this place to make sure you don't drink me dry.

Devon: You could always hire more help.

Damian: Oh, hey Vivi. I was hoping I'd find you here.

Vivian: Hey Damian, what can I help you with?

Damian: I was hoping there might be a position open.

Vivian: Not cut out for the military?

Damian: No sir. I'm much more cut out for the simple country life.

Vivian: You know what? I might be able to work something out.

Devon: Looks like your prayers have been answered.

Miss May I: Season 4 Part 39

Judge: We are here in regards of custody of 16 year old Julian Lowry. Vivian Lowry currently has physical and legal custody. Jade Cochran, you are petitioning the court to regain full custody. Do I have that correct?

Jade: Yes, Your Honor.

Victor: I'm sorry, am I late?

Julian: Dad?

Jade: Victor? What are you doing here?

Judge: I'm sorry, and you are?

Victor: I'm Victory Lowry, Julian's father, and I have something I'd like to say if I may.

Victor: Your Honor, I've been anything but a good father to my children, but the same can be said for Jade. Her drug abuse and neglect put our children at risk. They are the very issues that got Julian removed from her custody in the first place. Julian is right where she belongs, with her brother. The person who maned up when I couldn't and have been raising her her whole life.

Judge: Thank you for your insight. I have reviewed this case extensively and the main focus of the court is to keep families together. Mrs. Cochran has completed all requirements previously ordered by the court. My decree is that primary physical custody is to remain to Vivian Lowry, while a 50/50% legal custody will be split between Vivian and Jade. Jade, you will be granted visitation every other weekend. This case will be revisited in one year's time.

Noah: Did I miss anything?

Isabella: Kinda. Did you know that Julie has a dad?

Noah: No.

Isabella: Well she does. He's in there with them right now.

Noah: Is that a good thing or bad thing?

Isabella: I'm not sure.

Jade: We didn't get everything we wanted, but at least it's a start.

Victor: Julie, I'm so sorry for everything I've done. Or rather, haven't done. I was a coward and ran away when things got tough instead of doing what's right.

Julian: Well, at least you tried to help. So thanks I guess...

Victor: And Vivian, I am so proud of the man you've become. Please, keep taking good care of my daughter.

Vivian: I'm trying my best...

Julian: Why do people keep dying? 

???: Excuse me, are you Mr. Lowry? 

Vivian: Yes I am. Can I help you? 

???: Nice to meet you. My name is Dameon Dowell. I’m Juaat Marluk’s attorney. There are some matters in his will I would like to discuss with you if you wouldn’t mind joining me.

Vivian: Yes, of course. 

Attorney: I would first like to offer my condolences. A loss is never easy.

Vivian: Thank you. 

Attorney: Now, for the will. 

Attorney: Vivian, you have always been a son to me. I was there the day you were born, and since then I watched you become the amazing young man you are today. Life is not easy, yet yours has been exceptionally hard with everything you’ve had to endure. Though you deserved none of it, you always came out on the other end. I have never met someone so kind, selfless, and determined. You’ve never stopped working and taking care of others, so now it is time someone takes care of you. With my passing, I leave to you The Pub. Please keep it in this little family of ours and watch over it as I had always watched over you. Forever smiling down at you, Juaat. Continue making me proud.

Devon: Hey Mr. Bar Owner! Come sit down and have a drink.

Lippikka: How was your date?

Vivian: I have something much more important to talk to you about. 

Vivian: Here, look at this. It got served to me while I was at work. 

Lippika: I can’t believe it.

Devon: What does it say? 

Lippika: It’s Jade. She’s filed to get custody back of Julie. 

Devon: But that won’t happen, right? 

Vivian: No way in hell. Over my dead body. 

Lippika: Are you going to tell Julie? 

Vivian: Not yet. This will just send her into another spiral and I can’t risk that with the baby coming soon. I’m meeting with a lawyer first thing in the morning. 

Devon: Definitely get a lawyer, but don’t stress too much about it. Everyone knows what a piece of work Jade is. There’s a reason why she lost custody. No judge in their right mind would give it back. 

Vivian: Yeah, you’re right. Lippi, I will have that drink after all.

Lippikka: Vivian, it’s so good to see you. 

Vivian: You too. How have you been? 

Lippikka: Just trying to keep myself busy. I don’t have much to do these days. 

Vivian: You saw Juaat’s will, right? 

Lippikka: Of course I have. 

Vivian: So you know he left me The Pub? I’m supposed to go to city hall to sign some paperwork about it, but I wanted to talk to you first. 

Lippikka: Yes I know about it. We discussed everything in his will, as we did of mine. 

Vivian: I’m not going to take it. 

Lippikka: What? How come? 

Vivian: Because it’s yours. It’s always been yours. I still have my day job and believe it or not, but I love teaching. Then after work I homeschool Julie. Not to mention the baby could come any day now. 

Lippikka: Vivian, it’s time you take care of yourself for a change. Once that baby comes you are not raising it for Julie. 

Vivian: It’s only 16. 

Lippikka: She’s making choices with her life, as you need to too. I’m a 75 year old widow. I don’t want to be behind this bar for the rest of my life. 

Vivian: Are you sure? You know you’re welcome whenever you want. 

Lippikka: Of course. I can’t remember the last time I had a good drink and lord knows I need it. 

Vivian: I’d need to hire someone during the week, then maybe I can takeover during the weekends. With the divorce, I don’t have much going for me these days either. 

Lippikka: That sounds like a great plan. This little bar has been great for us over these many years, and I know it’ll be the same for you.

Vivian: One last thing: Move in with us. I can’t bear the idea of you living in that house all by yourself.

Lippikka: Vivian, I just told you I’m 75 years old. The last thing I want at my age is to be living with a newborn.

Vivian: Yeah, I get that. I’m in my 20′s and I’m dreading it.

Vivian: Wait... I’m still only in my 20′s. 

Lippikka: Yes, you’re still so young. It’s time you start acting like it. Start living your own life.
