So these days, TSIME is collecting dust and it's fair that most readers have bailed. I have dragged my ass on the ending for literal years, not to mention the fuckery I pulled in the middle of the story 😂 But every now and again, a new reader comes along and I get to watch them have an emotional breakdown in real time through the comments, while I cackle like a swamp witch. Hello o/ I've recently started playing litg again, I left after 4th mid-season after lame-ass Will coupled with Thabi, I haven't played the 5th season bc I've heard that it's hot garbage, could you please tell me why? I don't mind spoilers, but I haven't found any answers other than that. Thank you a lot!

Ohhhh babe settle in while I relive that dumpster fire, this is going to be a long one…

Anyone who’s played s5 will back me on this, If you were annoyed with Will leaving us for Thabi, I STRONGLY advise you to not even *think* about playing s5.

First let’s start off with MC…she was… not cute. For reference:

And I know that after a few weeks fb gave us more options and all of our MCs either became cuter in our eyes or maybe we all just felt extremely sorry for her because of the horrible experience she was having. Let’s get into that next…

Your MC walks into the villa and immediately is greeted by none other than her super hot, narcissistic, cheating ex, Suresh. Normally I would have to tell you oh I did X route so some of my choices will defer from yours if you pick another choice, but NOPE not in s5! Because we had ZERO choice. For first recoupling whether you want to or not, you are coupled with your ex, Suresh. Then he is fawning over you IMMEDIATELY, he’s jealous, running around after you, trying everything to win you back. And you can choose every single positive interaction saying you want him back too and the game doesn’t care. It literally won’t let you get back with him until the very end. But on the other spectrum, if you don’t want to be with him, he will not leave you alone no matter how much you beg.

As for LI choices, at the start you are given TWO. (I say at the start, but to be honest you’re really only give 2 for the majority of the season) One being Alfie and the other being Dana. Now every season before this and every season after, one of the girls always asks if you are into girls and this determines whether they will have girls grafting you or not. Well your answer doesn’t matter here. You could have said I’m the straightest person on earth and Dana would still hit on you everyday and get sad whenever anyone else showed interest in you. Oh and because there were only two other girls in the villa and one being your bully, dana was also meant to be your best friend and CONSTANTLY let you know that she was. By interrupting any and all conversations you were having, even good ones! You’re about to kiss your LI? Here comes Dana! There’s a lot more to unpack on Dana but I’ll get back to her later, just remember she’s your “best friend” in the villa.

As for the bully I mentioned, every season prior to this it’s been clear that whenever someone was coming after us, it’s because they were jealous that MC was “that girl”, s5 blurred those lines and became full on bullying. First with Kat, who went into full attack mode when MC even breathed in the direction of the two boys she was after. Her first and very brief LI was Alfie, who if MC just hugs garners a feral reaction from Kat screeching at her to leave him alone. And then her second LI, Finn who comes in as the first bombshell and Kat drops everything to be with him. Throughout the season anytime she feels any sort of jealousy she takes it out on MC and MC NEVER fires back!

Then we get two new bullies bombshells, Meera and Arlo. Suresh starts heavily flirting with Arlo, which I’m sorry but wasn’t he just up our asses literally yesterday?? And legit, who wrote this season and thought this was ok?? bc even if I hated my ex it wouldn’t be nice to see him flirting with someone else. Meera comes across like a super nice girl while Arlo becomes our second bully! Yay! Again even if you don’t want to be with Suresh, Arlo acts as if you do. And after a prolonged recoupling Suresh chooses Arlo, Alfie chooses MC and Meera is sent home (more on her later) Now if you wanted to be with him you’re probably thinking wtf Suresh?? And if you don’t you’re probably thinking, finally I’m free!! But NOPE when he couples up with Arlo that’s when he decides he’s going super full on and starts going after MC even harder. He wears the shirt she bought him for an anniversary on a date, he tries/kisses MC in the bedroom (depends on your choice) and just overall is doing everything to win MC back except for being honest and dumping Arlo to be with MC. Well Kat sees the kiss/hug/rejection and still tells the entire villa that you and Suresh were kissing in bed. The whole villa erupts, Alfie/Dana rush off and are super pissed at you, they won’t even let you explain yourself. So then you try to go find Alfie/Dana and you go to the roof terrace only to find Alfie kissing Kat or Dana kissing Eddie (if you’re on her route he’s coupled with Dana but she doesn’t really like him) OH and just a reminder, you have past trauma from when your long term ex CHEATED ON YOU. Alfie/Dana knew about this the whole time and yet STILL kissed someone else. Then Suresh takes this opportunity where you’re at your lowest again to apologize for cheating and tells you have until tonight to decide if you want to be with him or not. The girls also ask that night who you want to be with and your given the choice of Alfie/Suresh and when you go to tell one of them who you want to be with….they’re gone! YUP! They’re off to casa!!

And you might be thinking, after all that drama casa might be a nice break! A few days of freedom from the mess that’s gone down. THINK AGAIN BESTIE! While you’re at casa you get a major surprise! Remember that girl Suresh cheated on you with??? Oh yea the producers decide to drop her into YOUR casa villa. So you have to come face to face with Gabby, the girl that your ex cheated with. Now this was obviously a massive departure from the irl show because they’ve never thrown a girl into the girls villa at casa amor before. And remember your bestie Dana?? Oh yea she gets SUPER hot and bothered by Gabby and decides she wants to bring her back into the villa.. now I know you’re probably thinking wait but what if your on Dana’s route?? Obviously she wouldn’t cheat on MC with Eddie and then bring back the girl that Suresh cheated with!! WELL SHE DID BB!!!

Throughout the season we’ve been given very little detail about Suresh and MCs relationship. We know he cheated, he said it was a one time thing, MC found out about it from a picture on his phone. OH how could I forget!! We also find out that MC was going to propose to Suresh!! The day before he cheated she bought a ring! Well that’s all we knew until gabby says nah we were more than just a one time thing, he had a tooth brush at my place! We dated for months!

So now casa is over and we’re going back, the game doesn’t let us go back single and we have to pick either Nicholas or Johnny to bring back to the villa. Doesn’t matter who you choose they go nuts regardless. So now Gabby is back in the main villa thanks to your “bestie” and Suresh is STRESSING. Because obviously he left out some crucial details! And you would think ok we’re immediately going to talk to him? NOPE we need a fucking girls chat with the new casa girls. Lulu, Suresh’s new girl…Meera is back with alfie and remember that nice girl? Well she’s gone and we now have a full on bitch in her place aka Bully #3. Eddie is sent packing and tells us that whichever guy you like / Dana still really likes you and thought about you the whole time during casa. Cool cool cool but will any of them tell you this?? Nah lol! So you get pulled in the middle of your slumber for a chat with Gabby and Suresh. He tells you in front of Gabby he cheated once but then mc broke up with him and he went to gabby and they dated for 5 months. Full on rebound relationship. He tells them both that he never loved Gabby and that MC is the only one he’s ever loved. Well she’s not having that! Gabby goes full on delulu and basically doesn’t accept what he’s said. Now at the time there was major upset online about Gabby not being romance-able bc in all fairness she was extremely hot. So the game now allows you to romance Gabby and you’d think they’d change SOME of the interactions but NOPE they didn’t. So basically the entire time she’s running after Suresh trying to win him back. So much so that she explodes one day and reveals to everyone that he was going to propose!! Shock and awe all around the villa while everyone looks pitifully at MC.. at this point in the gameplay I think we were all so tired at the sheer embarrassment we were enduring weekly. And then Suresh announces hey that wasn’t for you dummy it was for MC!! Buttttt remember when he found out weeks ago that MC was going to propose??? Why tf didn’t he say anything then?? BECAUSE THAT WOULD MAKE TOO MUCH SENSE. Oh and speaking of making sense… if you’re on Suresh’s route and you somehow survive the weekly torture, I kind of blacked out at the end, but he proposes and MC obviously wins because she should.

I know I left out so much bullying (Nicolas and Eddie) and so much other shit that goes down, but this was getting too long. Bestie if you’re still here, all in all just don’t play it. You’ll have severe ptsd from it. You’re better off reading all of the fanfics the amazing fandom created.

“Oh, these are perfect!” Kaycee beamed as the balloon bouquet was delivered to the diagnostic team’s office. “He’ll love this!”

Ethan looked up from behind his desk and grumbled something unintelligible under his breath. Ignoring his lack of enthusiasm, Kaycee continued arranging decorations.

“You know, if you start feigning the slightest bit of excitement now, Tobias might actually believe you’re being supportive when he arrives.”

“You’re wrong,” Ethan deadpanned. “If anyone could see right through me, it would be him.”

Noting Kaycee’s raised eyebrow, he quickly corrected himself. “Next to you, of course... dear.”

“Fair attempt at a save,” she grinned. “I don’t understand why you aren’t happy for him. Being selected for this mission is a big honor and a phenomenal opportunity... not just for him, but for the team and Edenbrook, too. The positive media coverage alone has been helpful, and he hasn’t even left yet.”

“Mmmm,” he replied, barely paying attention.

“Oh, I see,” she replied sarcastically. “We’re only supposed to be enthusiastic about WHO missions if the person is using the trip because they’re too much of a wuss to face the feelings they’re developing for the love of their life. I understand now.”

It worked. She had his attention.

“Wait... what? That’s not the only reason I went on that mission!”

“Only,” she smiled triumphantly. “So, are you finally admitting that was one of the reasons?”

He could argue and try to make his point, but he merely smiled with a shake of his head.

“I’m never going to live that down, am I?”

“Hey, I accepted your proposal twice,” she winked. “I’ve obviously let it go, but I will be ribbing you for the rest of your life, so...”

“Fair enough,” he grinned.

“But Ethan, honestly, why aren’t you being more supportive of Tobias? He’ll never admit it, but it would mean so much to him.”

“Because it’s six months. That is too long to be away from the team.”

“Says who? Harper and Baz both agreed to pick up cases, and we have the new fellow beginning next month. We will be more than able to handle our caseload. Otherwise, administration wouldn’t have approved this.”

“So we have to bring a new fellow up to speed down one permanent member?”

“Dr. Ramsey, are you saying we can’t survive without Dr. Carrick?”

“What! No! Of course not!”

“Then what are you saying, my love?”

He didn’t appreciate the condescending tone, no matter how adorable she looked delivering it. But that wasn’t what was eating at him; it was his inability to come up with an answer as to what had been nagging at him ever since Tobias made his announcement.

“It’s OK, you know,” she whispered.

“What is?”

“To admit that you’re doing to miss him.”

“I did not say I’m going to miss him!”

“Of course you will!” Kaycee insisted. “There aren’t that many people who find your curmudgeonly demeanor endearing, and now one of them will be on the other side of the world for half a year... just when you’ve gotten used to having a buddy to watch Red Sox games with again.”

Ethan inhaled deeply as he leaned back, acceptance reluctantly settling in.

“I suppose I will miss the ass.”

“See!” Casey beamed. “It kind of sucks when someone you care about just takes off on a WHO mission. Of course, Tobias told us about his, but...”

“Are you finished?” Ethan interrupted.

Happy to know she hit her mark, Kaycee sat on Ethan’s lap in a fit of giggles.

“I am,” she replied with a quick peck on his cheek. “It’s OK, baby. I already talked to Bryce. He promised to make some time for you while Tobias is away.”

“You what?”

“Hush, hon. It didn’t cost me that much; you can thank me later. For now, I need you to help me set up the room. Breakfast will be arriving any minute, and I want everything to be set up before Tobias arrives.”

“Too late for that,” a voice chimed from the door.

“Ethan....” Tobias chided, when Kaycee stepped in.

“Tobias, really? It took him how long to admit he loves me, and I do some things for him that you just... don’t.”

“Oh, for Christ’s sake,” Ethan spat as two of the people most dear to him chuckled at his expense.

“It’s OK,” Tobias said with a pat on his friend’s shoulder. “I know the truth now. So, you need help with the decorations?”

“For your celebration?” Kaycee mocked.

“Hey, if he’s not gonna help.”

Ethan stood up with a huff. “Sit down and shut up, Carrick. I’ve got this.”

Tobias quickly claimed Ethan’s seat, placing his feet up on his desk. “Man, I’m feeling the love.”

Here are some of my fav LIs from each season of litg (we all have different and similar opinions, please be respectful)

•S1: Jake and Talia. Jake was a slow burn but really did care for Mc and was just afraid to show it until last minute, coupled up with him the moment I had a chance, plus when Cherrygate happened… Jake put a protective arm around you as you walked away from your current partner. Talia is so gorgeous and thoughtful, when my Mc was coupled up with Mason, him and Levi started getting into it and Talia told them to stop swinging their dicks and made sure my Mc was ok. I of course replayed it and took the Talia route 😊 have not regretted it.

•S2: BOBBY!! No words can explain when my s2 Mc and him just meshed together. Literally so thoughtful, kind, loving and funny. He really was head over heels for Mc in the end and really cared for his friends! When drama would happen, he would be the first to try fix things together.

•S3: Harry and AJ. Harry is cute looking and I love his backstory of his family basically saying he is adopted and he has two other siblings (I think, it’s been awhile and I of course am not able to replay it) he explains he such a good brother and his old t-shirt looked kind of cute on my Mc. AJ gives off golden retriever energy and she’s so beautiful! Her style is beyond stunning and playing her route was heart warming for me.

•S4: Youcef. Now towards the end of the season I realized I’m a sucker for slow burns. At first I thought he and Bruno were ugly when they showed up in the hot tub date. But as we got to see more of his personality somewhere in between… I had to make my Mc couple up with him. But seriously… fusebox did him REALLY dirty. I remember someone saying this… every time he smiles he looks like he’s in pain. He kind of does tbh. I love his personality but he could have looked better. Also playing his route is the sweetest and the only time you are on track with his route is when you say honesty is the best policy when talking with Tiffany, Bruno and him.

•S5: now f*ck this season! My Mc coupled up with Suresh and took her f*cking money because screw that season. Worst season ever.

•S6: Lewie, Bella and Andy. Lewie is major Golden Retriever energy, I just find him so attractive that I made my Mc immediately coupled with him right away, he just wants everyone to get along and when things go south I think his Captain instincts kick in and try to keep the vibes going. Bella is the most patient woman ever in all the seasons, she literally waited for Mc. She’s just so out of this world too! Her smile is just… UGHHH I WAS SO IN LOVE THAT I HAD TO DO HER ROUTE TOO!! WORTH IT! Now Andy, he was the most popular casa boy this season, I mean look at him! How can anyone resist his smile? And his little prank you see if you brought him back to the main villa on movie night and his little dance, ugh my heart. (I had to play the Ryan route so I wouldn’t have felt guilty for leaving Lewie to be dumped) and he works with animals, I love animals!!

•S7: Joyo. This season wasn’t really worth it since it lost all its excitement after Mc went into the main villa. Joyo immediately caught my eye so I stayed loyal and now I’m replaying for a Raphael route.

•S8: Claudia, Bea and Max. Claudia is so gorgeous AND SHE DESERVED MY MC MORE THAN THEO. My opinion on Theo was that he was still a playboy and disrespected Claudia by trying to flirt with my Mc, like Theo I don’t want you, I want your girl you are not treating correctly. Bea is so gorgeous and if you aren’t on her route, she’s literally your best friend and you get the option to have a little date with her when you guys are in casa together. As I am writing this, I notice that I’m a huge sucker for golden retriever vibes. Max’s color yellow def suits him! Adorable and I found it funny when he pied off your last LI (in my case, it was Jin) and basically showed he wouldn’t back down just because Mc and the last LI had history.

•S9: I have no opinions so far on my favorites but Natasha be looking like she could be a bit of me. She’s beautiful. I just hope Fusebox brings back people from later seasons and people we weren’t able to romance at all. Like being Eddie back, he did not deserve to go and how he experienced love island. I want him to have a chance with my Mc this season.

not sure if you'll know the answer to this but is there a reason why sammi doesn't appear in the matchmaker version of season 1 even though she's in the game assets?

Oh, blast from the past haha! I can answer this actually because I happened to be involved in conversations about it at the time and I did some writing for the chronological point where Sammi appears in LITG and then doesn't in MM.

In the original Season 1, Sammi only exists if Talia is romanced, and is brought in to even out the numbers of possible M/F couples, meaning that all the guys who are required to stay in the Villa at that stage of the game still have an in-universe reason to stay in. She was a product of what we used to call "couple maths".

Matchmaker is (was? not sure if it exists online anymore?) a lot simpler and less branching then the original Love Island the Game because of being made with different software; the structure and writing was done in-house but not the rest. I can't remember the details now but there were only certain ways that we could branch the narrative paths (plus each of the story sections had to be very short compared to LITG). So, there wasn't the capacity for such major branching and so we had to use different maths to even out the couples in the event of the MC being in an F/F couple rather than introducing Sammi.

I've no idea what's in the game assets or why Sammi assets would be in MM, but sometimes there were unused bits and pieces left around the place. I've seen players datamine the apps and draw conclusions from it, but in reality unused assets don't always reflect cut material.

An LITG Archive Update

No content added after the game update last Friday. I'm working on cleaning up the base script and the code itself, as I've realized a few missing things. Two parts of the update today: a bug, and functions.

The more important announcement is that once the next update drops, you'll have to restart the game due to some code additions.

First, the bug.

I found a bug while playing a Camilo route on my phone. The next scenes won't show up. The code seems to check out when I played on the editor, so I'm not entirely sure if it's my phone or something really is wrong. If you encountered it while playing, please do let me know!

Second, the functions.

Yeah, so to assign variables and avoid writing the same conditionals over and over again, I use functions. And there are a few, regarding the pronouns and the relationship ones that are missing a few things as I read through the base script that I have on hand.

I have to overhaul it. I already started, but I'm still not done with it. I'm trying to future-proof it as much as possible so nothing else will break when Day 2 drops.

So... yeah.

Who taught the FB team how to story branch???? Cuz honestly that’s been a big thing lacking from the seasons on the new app. And sure, there are some things we’d like as fans to be individualized and branched and it’s just too complicated to do it right (especially if you’re not good at it) but good golly Molly I’ve been poking around online and FB is getting the hang of it?????

When you’re LI pulls you for a chat about the reveal that Ivy’s partner kissed Amelia, the response depends on who she’s partnered with. If she’s with Jamal, Ryan supposedly gets upset about the situation as a general thing. If Ryan is her partner, Lewie/Jamal say he’s genuinely sorry but still poke fun with a poem.

But guys. They make up different poems. I don’t think you realize how IMPORTANT that is. It’s very very very easy from a writing and coding perspective to just write one mocking poem and have both boys preform it. Copy and paste is a very helpful tool. But FB DIDNT DO THAT

No instead FB wrote two separate poems, and wrote them in character no less, and wrote them in a way that showcased the LI’s personality even just a tiny bit.

They did the same with Roberto, where whatever you said your type on paper was six episodes ago (which feels like a forever ago reference for FB) he tries to emulate that. Continuously. It’s not just for one scene.

 "You take care of our woman. You're the man of the house when I'm gone." Goose bats at his outstretched finger before attacking, bunny kicks to his palm. Lucas smiles, "Well, you're no guard dog, but you'll do. Silly thing."

Lucas stares at the itinerary on the hotel desk. Meetings and presentations, broken up by meals and few social activities… he sighs heavily. "Thought these things used to be fun." Instead, everything just looks like work. "I'm getting old." His misery is interrupted by a video call lighting up his phone. 

Arielle appears on the screen and Lucas feels himself breaking into a full smile. She's laying in their bed, comfortably wrapped in what appears to be her bathrobe. "Hello, my love. Did I catch you at a bad time?" 

"No, just looking over the schedule for tomorrow." How're things at home, bug?"

"Without you? Very quiet… boring. Goose has been asleep most of the time. I'm just getting ready for bed."

"You miss me yet?"

"Never."

"I miss you, too." He glances away from his notes to check his notifications. A picture message from her dressed in some new strappy lingerie. "Well, you certainly don't look bored."

"Oh, but I am. Walking around in this with nobody trying to rip it off of me. Going into the kitchen and not being fucked on the counter. Do you have any idea how boring it is without you here to annoy me?"

"You are toeing a dangerous line, lady. Although, if you're up to it, we could have some long distance fun. You can start by taking off that robe."

She slips the fabric off one shoulder before the screen is knocked sideways and he hears a, "Dammit, Goose. Must you?"

Lucas bursts out laughing and the sound draws the cat's attention to the screen. "Hey, buddy. You're the most jealous fuzz bucket I've ever seen. Can't even have phone sex in peace."

The pair laugh over the cat's antics as he desperately tries to figure out why his friend is trapped in the phone. 

Even after her laughter, he hears the sadness in her tone. "Wish you were home, Lucas."

"Me too, baby. Only a few more days and I will be."

She's trying not to pout, "You've already done your presentation. What more do they want from you?"

"I love it when you're needy."

"Oh, shut up." 

"You should get some sleep, Mrs. Koh."

"That's not my name just yet, Mr. Koh. Are you being impatient?"

"I'm practicing. I like the way it sounds." He smiles when she yawns, "Go to bed, bug. I'll text you in the morning."

Lucas stares at his lock screen, telling himself that he's just checking the time for the fourth time in ten minutes, not at all missing her face on his screen. The picture is from their first vacation together, a selfie they snapped on the plane right before takeoff. Memories of the trip come back to him. The way her eyes lit up at every sculpture and temple, how she would turn to him in amazement, but mostly how she kept a firm hold on his hand no matter what. And even now, when she sees him, her face seems happier than she was on that trip, happy just to be with him and holy fuck, what am I doing here? Suddenly, he's struck with a near primal urge to see her, be in the same room with her, wrap her in his arms and refuse to let her go. It doesn't take much to repack his stuff and contact the airport about an earlier flight. He sends a quick text to his coworker, hey, something came up at home and I have to head back early. See you in a few days!  

Lucas quickly decides he's never seen a prettier sight in his life. Arielle is curled up in the center of the bed, face pressed against his pillow while Goose is asleep in her hair. At closer inspection, she's wearing one of his shirts and still has her phone beneath her hand. Lucas drops his bags and begins to undress. The sound startles her awake. "It's just me, babe. Go back to sleep."

Sleepily, she squints at the clock then back at him. "Lucas? What are you doing home? Is everything okay?" Goose manages to half open one eye before drifting off again, purring. 

Lucas strips to his underwear and crawls into bed. When his arms are around her, he relaxes, "it is now." He kisses her temple, "everything is perfect now."

End Of The Year Faves 2020

Thank you so much for the tag, @itslaniquelove 😘 I don't think it's a secret to anyone that writing is my coping mechanism and 2020 was a year that I wrote more than I expected without getting overwhelmed, so yay me! 😁 anyway, let's get to the list:

1. Their Fantasy: by the end of 2019, my current obsession was Logan. Because of the fics I wrote for last year's December challenge, I couldn't have enough of him and wrote this fun and sexy piece of him and Carla (RoD MC) pretending to not know each other and flirting;

2. Infatuated: last year, I feel like lost sight of what I wanted from writing fanfiction when I started to take more requests than I couldn't handle. Writing this work reminded why I created this blog. Besides, nothing beats a scene of charming character like Hamid reminscing the moment he started to fall in love with Daphne (D&D MC);

3. Early Morning Appreciation: my first not Choices related fanfic, another self-indulgent fic for a character I've never seen fanworks before and apparently many people in the fandom hate. But my muse wants what she wants. And she wanted Jane (LITG MC) watching Levi swimming in the pool;

4. Good Enough: in real life, I learned how to resignify my resentment and deal with it in a healthy way. How did I deal with my anger towards PB and the Karens of the fandom plus the chaos in real life? I created a series about my OTPs in quarantine, wrote a hurt/comfort Rafael x F!MC fic to show off the best of their relationship while ignoring canon and the white male LI 😊

5. Never Leave: this is a fic I wanted to write ever since I started writing Hamid x MC, but I bid my time with it because this pairing is special to me. Their first love scene was a birthday gift to myself and I couldn't be happier with the outcome;

6. Change: This is the year I wrote fics I always wanted to write and it had to include Perfect Match. Harley is pure evil and I really wished to explore more of his relationship with Hayden in a less MC centered scenario;

7. A Matter Of Loyalty: It took me two years to find the courage to write this fanfic. Two freaking years! But I don't regret waiting so long. I knew I wasn't ready to write The Crown and The Flame then. I am now. And this work is just what I pictured in my head;

8. When It's Meant To Be: writing Hamid and Daphne (D&D MC) was crucial to me this year, so I had to celebrate the two years of Meant To Be AU with them recreating their meet cute. Except this time, they did what they wanted but couldn't do then 😉
