saw a post on twitter asking, effectively, why everything (even things that have no possible benefit) needs to have "ai" integrations and initiatives now. It's a good question, and one relevant to our present situation as a society.
fundamentally this hype is being driven by Capital, by investors. they are the ones going around asking every business "what are you going to do with/about ai?". while the individual capitalists asking these questions may believe they are motivated by a genuine concern for the Future, the material reasons behind this are our old friend, the impossibility of infinite growth.
big tech got big by building valuable, if antisocial, products: massive monopolized networks of information, surveillance, advertising, and even logistics. but capitalism demands ever-more growth and ever-more profit (which fights against the tendency of that rate of profit to fall), and that means that they have to be constantly looking for the next big thing.
and, at the moment, the only real contender for that next big thing is "ai". The other ones have had their day and show no signs of replicating the explosive growth of the current tech monopolies.
and so, everyone has to try and find some way to make "ai" part of their operation, even when it makes no sense, and even in the face of the mounting evidence that these machine learning models don't live up to the hype, and never will, no matter how much we destroy our ecology to power them up.

As someone who is poly, what is your perspective on emotional affairs? How do you navigate managing different relationships?
I think that the management of different relationships simultaneously is a lifelong practice that nobody will ever be perfect at and everyone will always need to learn new things. this requires patience, communication, patience, communication, patience and some more communication, and then probably a bit more patience and of course communication. As Catherine Angel observes in Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again, communicating our needs, desires and boundaries first requires that we understand what each of them are, and that's actually pretty fucking daunting. As Clementine Morrigan has pointed out, polyamorous people have to learn things about their attachment styles and the challenges of them just as much as monogamous people, and you don't get better at secure attachment without practice, so if you're poly you're probably going to spend some amount of time being insecurely attached to multiple people, probably in different ways. bell hooks says in All About Love that love is "the extension of ones self for the spiritual growth of yourself or someone else", and to that end love will always be as completely unique as human beings can be, and can't be perfectly analysed in terms and rules. Patience and communication.
You have to use some amount of trial and error to gain self knowledge in order to communicate to others what works for you and know when what someone else needs doesn't. I can't do long distance relationships, for instance, and I'm glad I know that about myself but finding out was a painful process.
Personally, having been poly for over a decade and found my own capacity for different things through trial and error, I personally approach relationships descriptively instead of prescriptively. I don't like saying that I'm using this or that model for being poly, "primary partner polyamory" or "relationship anarchy" or "solo poly" (as an aside, I think everyone should prioritise their relationship with themselves first and foremost and don't find this a useful distinction for people "doing solo poly", but when I think of it to myself as "needing more space for my relationship with myself" it works better). What I mean by descriptive rather than prescriptive is that if I am in a relationship and it is clear to me and another person that it is working in a way that is going to be long term, I like to have a conversation about what the relationship has become rather than name it some way and try to start acting differently according to that.
As for emotional affairs - I had to take some time to understand what you're asking so I'm going to try to define it here to be on the same page. You're asking about when someone becomes close to another person in a way that doesn't necessarily involve sex, but feels like a sharing of oneself with that person in a way that crosses the boundaries of their partner. All cases where someone shares something of themselves with another person in a way that crosses the boundaries of their partner have to do with the interdependency of their relationship and the conditional boundaries of their partner. What I mean by that is, Sue might agree to be in a relationship with Jen on the condition that they only have sex with each other, and therefore it would be crossing Sue's boundaries for Jen to have sex with Alex. Someone who takes a more anti-monogamy stance might say this is an unreasonable boundary to have as your boundaries should be your boundaries and shouldn't limit the freedoms of other people. However, if Sue and Jen have built a life together and depend on one another emotionally, financially, and for the logistics of their regular schedules, then Jen spending more time with Alex whether or not they have sex may feel threatening to Sue because she feels like the ways that she depends on Jen are at risk. However, here it is only useful for Sue to look at her relationship with Jen. If they are just as close as ever, spending the same amount of time together and so on, then Jen's time with Alex isn't actually doing anything to Sue: she is just experiencing jealousy, which is a tricky feeling for many people because it isn't often discussed and rarely discussed kindly, but a feeling like any other that we have to move through. If Sue looks at her relationship with Jen and realises what she needs is more time together, more intimacy, or whatever, she has to communicate that to Jen

Coca-Cola on the Move: A Journey Through Time

In the early 1900s, Coca-Cola was still a rising brand, but its delivery trucks were already making an impact. A 1900 photograph captures a Coca-Cola delivery truck with three young boys sitting on its side, symbolizing the brand’s early distribution efforts. By 1910, Coca-Cola’s operations had become more structured, as seen in an image of two men standing beside a delivery truck, reflecting the company’s growing scale and logistical advancements.

By the 1920s and early 1930s, Coca-Cola had built a nationwide delivery network. In 1921, drivers proudly posed beside their Coca-Cola trucks outside a bottling plant, showcasing the brand’s expanding fleet. A 1931 photograph of a Ford Model AA delivery truck, branded with the name Crawford Johnson & Co., highlights the importance of regional bottlers in Coca-Cola’s franchise system, which played a key role in its rapid growth.

As vehicle technology improved, so did Coca-Cola’s fleet of delivery trucks. A 1931 panel truck in El Paso, Texas, illustrates the shift toward more efficient distribution vehicles. Around the same time, a 1936 Model 704 Coca-Cola delivery truck, featured in a sales booklet by The White Motor Company, demonstrates how the brand’s logistics were recognized as an industry standard. These advancements allowed Coca-Cola to reach more consumers than ever before.

By the 1950s, Coca-Cola trucks had become a global symbol of refreshment. A 1953 image of a Coca-Cola truck crossing Westminster Bridge, with Big Ben and the Parliament buildings in the background, showcases the brand’s deep-rooted presence in British culture. Meanwhile, a 1957 photograph of Coca-Cola being loaded onto the Endeavor, the New Zealand Antarctic supply ship, underscores the company’s ability to distribute its products to even the most remote locations on Earth.

Coca-Cola’s influence stretched across continents, making its way into diverse cultures and landscapes. A 1950s Coca-Cola truck in Egypt, parked beside a historic statue, represents the brand’s expansion into the Middle East. In Scotland, a 1953 image of a Coca-Cola truck beneath Edinburgh Castle highlights the beverage’s widespread popularity in Europe. From local deliveries to international distribution, Coca-Cola delivery trucks have not only transported soda but have also carried the brand’s legacy across generations and borders.

On the Skidelsky/Fuller post I reblogged, I absolutely welcome automation given the following criteria:
1. The output is identical or, holistically, more positive than human labor output
2. This automation occurs within an economic system in which GDP growth (or similarly fraught metrics) is not the primary objective
3. The automation aids the sustainability of nature and humanity
The USA's agriculture industry is a wonderful example of modern automation failing all three of these criteria. Throughout the entire industrial revolution, agriculture has trended away from being a society-wide confederation of family/community-scale, labor-intensive smallholdings to our current reality of a small number of monolithic industrial farms that are maintained by astoundingly few people who operate increasingly complex and expensive equipment.
Our massive-scale industrial farms are fantastic at what they were designed for; they grow as much of a staple crop as possible without regard to human or environmental health, doing so using minimal labor. Fundamentally, it is an extractive industry. Fossil fuels are extracted to power the machinery, processing, and logistics systems. Nutrients are extracted from the soil to the point that crop growth can only be sustained with heavy amounts of industrial fertilizer input. Entire ecosystems are sacrificed when forests are cleared to be exploited and repeatedly battered with pesticides. This is all primarily to produce soybeans, feed corn, and cotton to then process into products like factory farm livestock feed-slurry, corn syrup, junk food, and sweatshop garments. Secondarily, it is to produce flavorless, nutrition-void produce that can be sold year-round. Consistency is the goal, although one may find that nature itself is curiously inconsistent.
This case study of automation's failings can be traced back to a few major factors:
1. Old-style agriculture work is disagreeable to the USA's perverted fascination for infinite GDP growth; each farm laborer that can be replaced by a machine is a potential worker that could move into a city (or suburb) and put in the same amount of hours at a higher-dollar job. It's just opportunity cost, and this is more-or-less what Skidelsky and Fuller find offensive about our current labor zeitgeist; instead of the now-jobless laborers being free to pursue their interests, they are instead shoehorned into some shitty desk job that produces a relatively greater amount of money to be leeched by executives and shareholders -- this is "more productive" to our economy on the basis of GDP growth and thus must be prioritized over agricultural labor.
2. Industrial approaches to large-scale agriculture are inherently reductive to an extreme extent. Nature is far more complex than Liebig or any other enlightenment thinker ever imagined. Industrialization is great at making cars or computer chips or Gucci jackets or whatever, as these are things that can be standardized with relative ease. Nature cannot be tamed and standardized in a similar way; ecosystems, particularly soil ecosystems, can vary massively even in small areas of the same climate type. Our agriculture systems cope with this simply by ignoring such factors and reducing crop growth to a formula. In X region, plant Y variety of Z crop on A date and apply a regimen of B-type fertilizer and C-type pesticide on D date etc etc. This is the most egregious reduction of something in all of history.
Liebig's reduction of agriculture to the NPK model, just three elements, is good for achieving the singular goal of making your plant of choice come out of the ground, but it ignores all the nuance of soil, climate, and evolution. The other factors don't matter. Modern lab-designed fertilizers often feature a plethora of additional micronutrients, but the goal is still to produce a healthy crop, not healthy soil. Soil itself is an organism, it is something that must be nurtured to be healthy; industrial pesticide/fertilizer regimens are to the soil as feed slurry/antibiotic regimens are to factory farm animals.
Natural processes are, itself, the greatest form of automation for agriculture. Plants and animals that are native to a region have evolved to grow there regardless of human intervention. It is our disruption of these processes that forces agriculture to be labor/resource-intensive. This isn't to say that everyone must immediately abandon all non-native foods and adopt a primarily undomesticated Ötzi diet, but instead, it's worth considering that the complexity of modern technology is not even close to being at parity with the complexity of nature; nature has a several billion year head start. There is no way to flawlessly "tame" it with technological solutions, but a comfortable middle ground can certainly be found.
If sustainable, climate-friendly food production is the primary objective of agriculture, this is far more easily achieved by small, ecology-considerate farms than massive, largely automated industrial farms. A healthy soil ecosystem will aid in growth, flavor, nutrition, and, (quite importantly) carbon sequestration. Broadforking, shoveling, and wheelbarrow-pushing is absolutely more labor intensive than sitting back in a huge John Deere tractor with GPS-based autopiloting features, but the extra labor can turn a woefully extractive process into one that is instead highly regenerative.

2024 CREATION WRAPPED! A Personal Creative Overview, & A Simblr 2024-Thank-You-Letter)
Here's all the things I uploaded this last year. (Skip past the +++++'s to get to the emotional and fluffy part.)
This isn't to brag, or to boast. I want to map out the creative journey I've had this last year since moving to a new state to start a whole new life.
I nearly became homeless at the end of 2020, and if I hadn't found the job I'm at now, I would have. I've endured severe depression, mild vitamin C deficiency, and a benign growth that has been absolutely crippling as it's literally been sucking my life away; on top of the deaths of two people I never would have made it this far without, while holding down a high-stress, high skill job in logistics.
I am proud to have gotten this far, and I'd like to illustrate that the last year, despite my exhaustion, I still did something. I wish I had done more, wish I could have done more creatively, but I did what I could do.
When the hours and minutes are painful and long, every victory is monumental.
Here's the lineup:

STATS:
11 total "sets"/uploads
66 total packages across all sets and item types
477 swatch variants, on objects that had more than 1 swatch
2,565 wall swatches between all wall heights
5 wall sets, with 19 unique total template variants, all using every wall height and each with at least 12-24+ colorways
1 floor, with 42 swatches
9 terrain paints
5 CAS items across 2 CAS sets, with 2 total PSD files, 1 for each respective set
3 portrait frames, 2 of them using unique, from-"scratch" meshes, texture maps, etc, with 118 total swatches between all 3 packages
2 faux magazine cover template PSDs
30 total objects edited, remeshed, recolored, or created wholesale
+ + + + + +
PORTRAITS!
Of portraits I've created, here are some of my favorites, plus their stats:
STATS:
105 total portraits, including edit variants (painting edit vs photo edit)
Portraiture eras range from the 17th century to the mid-late 20th century, with most portraits set throughout the 19th century
Arthur was still the most-used model; however, a wider variety of models exist than in the previous year, including Jack, Atlas, Marianne, Anna, and Amelia
+ + + + + +
That's all the images Tumblr will allow in one post, and that's about all I have energy to calculate.
However, something that isn't quantifiable is how grateful I am for the support of my followers, mutuals, Patreon (free + paid) members, those who reply/comment and those who just lurk, those who download and post pictures of my CC and those who quietly enjoy it on their own time, and all.
I wouldn't be here on this hellsite, or in this community, without you all existing here to. The Simblr community does a lot of complaining--I've done my fair share of it, I know this, I am an emotional, petty person at times and I am trying to... well, do that less-- and we've also done a shitton of creating, sharing, all for these weird little pixel dolls and worlds. I can absolutely say that this and the Tumblr RP community are the only communities that have really come through in terms of longevity and liveliness in the last 10+ years. I'm still here because of all the damn good things, like the above, and the support people show for each other here. It's really unlike anything else online.
I just want to say... thank you, to everyone. May this year be softer and kinder than the next. May we find the strength to build a better world from the ashes of the previous, in defiance of the fires that continue to take so much away. May we find the faith to envision a better world, and the courage to live.
Thank you again, for all your support, kindness, and for being here in this community.
Happy New Year. x

Vancouver Fashion Week: Fall/Winter 2024 edition
Lotanna’s review.

“Oftentimes people think of producing fashion shows as a super glamorous job. While there is definitely some glamour to it, in the end, when we are in the middle of the show, the majority of our job is hard work with real-world deadlines”- Paul Bennett IV, Producer

Respectful Discourse: I encourage respectful discussion and welcome differing opinions. Fashion is a dynamic and evolving art form, and dialogue fosters growth and understanding within the industry.
Notes:
With my quality experience in event production, I looked forward to this year's starter edition of the Vancouver Fashion Week. I stepped in with a heavy motion, wanting to learn and tap into the doings of staff and volunteers; the Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) is very well known in the Vancouver fashion scene, from the designers to the weathering event space and the relentless media coverage, they are in too deep in the system. Although I only attended the first and last day this season, I observed so much from both shows. I’ll clearly state what I thoroughly observed off the logistic affairs and mention the designers that caught my eye during the days I attended in the week. Enjoy the read;
Logistics & Event Production
My main fascination revolved around the logistics and event production of the VFW. The event production team did [quite] the job ensuring reasonable quality control. To organize a week-long fashion show involving multiple designers, models, and fashion enthusiasts requires a tremendous amount of effort, which has been consistently carried out for 23 years. Even though I only attended two days of the fashion week, I noticed a couple cues and nuances from the production team.

Production teams are the underdogs of any event. They are the ones that do the nitty gritty and get their hands dirty to make an event glamour “glam.” with alignment and organization in a team, perfection can be accomplished. As I highlight the production team in the fashion week in this article, I am focusing on the seat assignment managers, event ushers, and guest service staff. I am also shedding a little light on the volunteering staff as well.
Now, what did Lotanna get off the production team during the VFW Fall/Winter 2024 edition?
Real Talk:
I planned to attend only this fashion week's first and last days. My main objective was to observe the attendees' engagement and event flow of the production team on these days. During my attendance, I closely observed the staff and volunteers diligently performing their assigned tasks..
Day one was packed! It made me realize that crowd control is everything. With the number of people that came to the show, attendee management and crowd control were vital.
As I stood watching the first show, I observed the row coordinator deftly orchestrating the flow of movement as people navigated the space; nonsense was not an option! During the break between shows, my guy Blinkzz and I scanned the area for seats. Entry to the fashion week doesn't guarantee you a chair unless reserved or through other levels of entry. Luckily for us, we came across this savvy event coordinator named Jevon. He used a tactic to seat us under the reserved seats (he is the goat for that). This experience told me how the coordinators make time to individually elevate the attendee experience on top of everything. It demonstrates the importance of a positive work ethic, a friendly demeanour, and the value of hospitality within the event staff.
One thing that caught my attention was the presence of young and creative volunteers in the event production team. Their unique perspective gave the VFW a fresh and modern touch. My friends Stephen Ng’ang’a and Richard Goodluck were volunteers for the event's media crew, allowing them to build their craft, learn more, and meet other creative minds in their industry. Vancouver Fashion Week constantly grows the next gen of designers, creators, and models in the Vancouver fashion event scene.
The production of a fashion event is serious work, from time management to event control. Every step is important.
Look out for the closing.
The Designers
I would be delighted to share with you my thoughts on the designers who particularly impressed and intrigued me with their designs and runway shows.
Day 1
SOLIT (JAPAN)
This all-inclusive Japanese fashion brand started the show with a killer performance—yes, a performance. Their runway pattern showcased their beautiful fall/winter designs with a choreography that resembled a movie. They expressed their collection with a show that beautifully flaunted it while telling a story that highlighted love, diverse experiences, and the global environment. I am all for showing how fashion values society. They did a great job.
HAZIHAUS
Hazihaus grabbed my attention with its designs; its fall/winter "Inner Child Ambrosia" screamed its monochromatic palette of maturity. I found the collection to be very generic. Although I have seen some similar designs online and in some knitted attire brands, this is the first time I have seen them in fashion week. The knitting techniques and fabric manipulations seem familiar, but I adore the colour scheme and runway experience. I am glad that VFW acknowledges luxury streetwear brands. Good show.
Day 6
QZ SHEN (CHINA)
I couldn't help but swivel from side to side in awe as I took in this innovative menswear label! The runway setting was outstanding—from the lighting and model strides to the designs! I am interested in the touch of minimalism in the designs. Nowadays, most people, especially [here] in Vancouver, yearn for that minimalistic luxury. QZ SHEN delightfully expressed a free and cozy lifestyle with a line that ventures into camping activities and outdoor sports. I see them in their innovative era and hope to hear about them everywhere soon.
EDUARDO RAMOS
This founder-named label is one that I was low-key looking forward to. I remember seeing them in the spring/summer 2024 show last year. Their runway performances always emotionally impact the audience, whether through the designs, performances, or model strides. The founder always takes the leap of confidence to express the collection's story. Without confidence, you can't express. As a designer, you have to take that leap to make something that is different and goes against the grain. Eduardo Ramos always steals the show. I am a fan.
Honourable Mention:
Smouldy
Even though I was not present for their show, the designs flew to my phone. Smouldy's Planet Claire collection is fantastic. The designers' ultramodern pieces and commitment to reducing fabric waste inspire me. Sustainable impact is something all designers and fashion labels should practice. Well done, Smouldy.
Closing

Final Review
The last day of fashion week was as packed as the first, if not more. There was no space! Thankfully, my friend Akin and I strategically came at the right time to get good seats. The event coordinators were up and about, organizing more seats and telling people where not to sit. It was definitely not as smooth as the first day. I recall a seating assignment officer confidently informing a guest that their ticket did not correspond to their assigned seat. Her authoritative voice exhibited signs of strain due to demanding circumstances.
In just six days, the remarkable contributions of approximately 50 designers, alongside the dedicated production team, infused every corner of the event with creativity and innovation.
Let's take a moment to revisit the quote I mentioned earlier. It is important that we pay close attention to this particular part. "in the end, when we are in the middle of the show, the majority of our job is hard work with real-world deadlines"
Seeing the effort put into producing this event inspires me; the team and the volunteers are the backbones of this show! Production teams are the unsung heroes of event production. Amidst all the glitz and glamour, these underdogs are partaking in a different show—life. Transitioning between each point of the schedule, directing the designers and the runway, and controlling attendees must be handled with skills and routines to perform accurately. The Vancouver Fashion Week production team had a successful week for Fall/Winter 2024.
It is always important to appreciate the work done behind the scenes in Fashion Events. With heartfelt gratitude, I seize this moment to extend formal appreciation and recognition to the exceptional event production team of My Sophomore Event, the Oversabi edition of STACKED FASHION CONVENTION;
Yakndara Udoimeh - Fashion Event Producer
Haleemah Daramola - Stylist & Runway Head
Halimat Ahmaed Adagiri - Brand & Event Coordinator
Ayanfe Oladipo - Event Coordinator
Jason Akan "Jupefruit" Udoimoeh - Videographer
LSD Dave - Photographer/ Videographer
To every production team member, whether mentioned or not, your unwavering dedication during any event support is invaluable. Your passion and commitment brought the vision to life, creating unforgettable moments and leaving an indelible mark on all who attended. Thank you for your invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to excellence.
And to you, the readers, thank you for taking the time to delve into my review. Your interest and engagement are greatly appreciated.
Signing out.
Lotanna Ifeatu Louis Uzomah.

Few issues have dominated the political debate in recent years like immigration. The two candidates for president, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, have offered starkly different visions for immigration policy. In this analysis, we consider possible paths for net migration under these agendas and their likely macroeconomic implications.
The starting point for our analysis is the creation of a “high immigration” and a “low immigration” scenario for each presidential candidate. These scenarios reflect a combination of the historical record under the Trump administration and the Biden-Harris administration, announced and inferred immigration policies, as well as our judgment of likely developments. They are constructed from the ground up, starting by predicting inflows from specific visa categories, border and parole policy, and entries without inspection. We also predict removals, reflecting both the candidates’ visions and logistical constraints as well as other factors that affect outflows. We provide two scenarios for each candidate given the considerable uncertainty about policy actions as well as responses by migrants.
We expect net immigration to be significantly higher under a Harris administration than a second Trump administration. Our Harris, low scenario involves roughly the same net immigration flows as our Trump, high scenario. In the first two years of the Trump, low scenario, in which we anticipate the most acute departure from recent policy, we expect the United States to see net outmigration—that is, the extraordinary case of more people leaving the country than entering. For example, in our Harris, high scenario net migration is 3.7 million in 2025, whereas in the Trump, low scenario net migration is negative 740 thousand. To be sure, immigration flows could be outside the range of our four scenarios. For example, former President Trump has called for immediate mass deportations more than 10 times what we incorporated in our Trump, low scenario.
Each of these scenarios for net immigration flows has different consequences for the U.S. economy. We show how they would involve different patterns of population growth over the coming years. The cumulative growth in the total civilian non-institutionalized population over age 16 (CNIP) over four years, including both U.S.-born and foreign-born people, could be as little as 5 million people or as many as 15 million people depending on the scenario. For comparison, continuation of average CNIP growth between January 2000 and January 2024 would suggest a four-year gain of 9 million people.
We use CNIP population growth to predict labor force growth, considering the mix of skills and earnings power immigrants are likely to bring. The scenarios in which we observe a reduction in labor force growth from lower immigration are also scenarios in which we see reduced growth in earnings, consumption, and output. When greater immigration adds more to the labor force, the opposite happens.
Ultimately, we project a gap in 2025 GDP growth between the Trump, low and Harris, high scenarios of roughly half a percentage point from differences in immigration policy (meaning that GDP in 2025 would be lower in the Trump immigration scenario than in the Harris scenario by around $130 billion). Beyond 2025, the economy under the Trump, low scenario would continue to be notably smaller than the economy under the other scenarios. The consequences of a more extreme mass deportation policy would be economically disruptive in unpredictable ways and are not modeled here.

However, this theory cannot account for the reality of service-based capitalist accumulation today. First of all, the category “services” lumps together a widely divergent range of sectors such as retail, hospitality, and transport, not to mention professional and personal services from education and health care to finance and real estate. Many of these sectors are productive in the Marxist sense of the term, generating surplus value, and indeed are extremely profitable. Second, the assumption that manufacturing possesses unique growth-inducing properties and capacity to scale doesn’t really make sense in the face of services based on information and communication technology (ICT), digital automation, and platform scalability. Third, Baumol’s model is outdated. Service workers represent a far greater proportion of the labor force today than they did in the mid-twentieth century when he developed that model. Baumol also uses a narrow set of service occupations as the basis for his theory, like beauticians and elementary school teachers. Taking the United States as an example, from the 1990s to the 2000s, jobs and productivity growth was mostly driven by ICT, logistics and transport, the retail trade, insurance, finance, and other services. Labor productivity in services grew at a rate of 2.6 percent a year between 1995 and 2001 — the rate for manufacturing was 2.3 percent — accounting for 73 percent of US labor productivity growth. The share of services in US GDP as a whole rose to 80 percent in 2007 from 60 percent in 1947. Service sector employment accounted for more than 83 percent of total employment in 2013, compared to 60 percent in 1947. Looking beyond rich countries, we can also see shifts to ICT-intensive service exports. In 2014, India was the largest global exporter of ICT services with a value of $74 billion due to both scale and productivity. Total factor productivity in the Indian service sector grew by 2.4 percent from 1980 to 2006 — twice the rate of industry and agriculture. We should not dismiss service industries as “stagnant sectors” of low-skill, low-wage jobs that are a drag on growth. Many countries around the world are seeing services contribute an increasing share of growth over time. Services may have historically played a small part in capitalist growth, often resisting mechanization as they remained outside the circuit of capital in domestic reproduction. But this is no longer the case today.
Going to have a rich highly-productive economy by having everyone be a Real Estate Broker or personal injury lawyer
