🥓🍄🍝 Bacon and Mushroom Truffle Cream Linguine ($18)

Truffle smells was wafting from this! Very creamy and enjoyable, lots of mushrooms.

🐷 Pork Collar with Barley Risotto ($20)

Grilled BBQ glazed pork collar. Kind of tough. Didn't really enjoy this dish. There was also a very very small bit of fried kale.

🐓🍗 Half Roast Chicken with Cider Jus ($26)

1/2 chicken, large serving but slightly dry. Skin was tasty though. Comes with truffle mashed potatoes (the bombz), some maple miso brussel sprouts, a little bit of fried kale and pickled pomegranate. Nice to share, but too much for one

🍇 Muscat Grape Cheese Tart ($9)

Cheesecake filling with frozen grapes on the top. I guess grape is fine with this and it's visually pleasing but maybe other fruits would have been a better choice. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable treat.

☕️🧊 Iced Gingerbread Latte ($8)

Strong hit of spices from their housemade gingerbread syrup. VERY GOOD.

ALIEN LINGUISTIC LAB de Sarah Ancelle Schönfeld

ALIEN LINGUISTIC LAB a été développé comme atelier/ programme éducatif, qui créer une nouvelle communication pour décoder les messages des extraterrestres. Tout en questionnant et élargisant la compréhension du langage lui-même.

Pour cela, l’artiste est partie d’un point scientifique démontrant que la pieuvre est la créature vivante la plus proche qu’un extraterrestre ici sur terre en raison de sa séquence d’ADN inexplicablement éloignée. Les linguines à l’encre de seiche pourraient donc être porteurs d’informations extraterrestres. L’encre excrétée par les céphalopodes est en fait un nuage de messages linguistiques codés.

Sarah Ancelle Schönfeld a choisie de prendre des linguini ( dérivé de Lingua : langue latine), pour créer une unité de la langue parfaite. Le procésus est au final simple : prendre une seule linguine à l’encre de seiche et la lancer sur le mur blanc. Le résultat de la forme est ensuite décodée à l’aide de la fonction de reconnaissance linguistique «Google translate». 

En répétant ce protocole, le public génère un oracle.

J’ai choisis cette oeuvre d’une grande partie pour l’ingeniosité de la recherche qui me fascine et qui pousse vraiment à faire un travail de recherche large sur plusieurs points variés (scientifique, créatifs et technologique)avant chaques projets. La façon dont l’artiste construit son projet qui se partage et se construit avec les autres, l’endroit, la manière dont chaque objet est exposé/ présenté font que c’est pour ma part une oeuvre complète et fortement reussie. D’une deuxième partie, ayant eu l’opportunité d’y participer au CAN  qui a créé une dimension différente avec l’oeuvre.

The Many Lives of Lola Lane de Maria Guta

Lola Lane (alias @dear_lola_lane) est la représentation d’une multitude de mutations et de variations du moi, un personnage à l’identité fluide qui vit différentes vies simultanément. The Many Lives of Lola Lane est une compilation des ces alters - egos, l’artiste transformée d’une part physiquement (par des perruques, du maquillage, des costumes) et numériquement (par des applications et des filtres de beauté).

La collection est montrée dans son ensemble en référence à l’envie et à la pression obsessionnelles de constamment mettre en scène, conserver et produire des variations de notre moi numérique et amélioré pour les réseaux sociaux. 

The Many Lives of Lola Lane se questionne également sur l’auto marketing, la valorisation de son profil, les données personnelles monétisées et la stratégie des types des influenceurs. 

J’ai trouvé cette artiste dont le travail m’a touché, la beautée des variations du moi en collection et la diversité des images qui créé une collection dynamique et variée. Le jeu très fort qu’il y a entre des images qui semblent très fausses et d’autres ou le doute est plus prenant.

L’apport technologique est cependant pas nouveau car bien d’oeuvres d’art ont déjà questionné les filtres de beautées et les applications lié a la valorisation de son profil dans son ensemle. Ce qui n’empèche pas d’y voir un aspect innovant, différents d’autres oeuvres déjà créés. Bien que pas nouveau, ce projet est la pour démontrer le pouvoir de la technologie.

Salvatore Vitale dans PERSUASIVE SYSTEM

commence par nous dire que la différence entre le physique et le numérique est supprimée et qu’il faut faire un effort pour la reconnaitre, qu’il faut trouver de nouvelles façons de raconter le monde. Son projet; une installation numérique interactive qui explore le pouvoir derrière le contrôle et la surveillance systémique, la collection de données ainsi que l’analyse,le stockage et la distribution. Le développement technologique est au coeur de son travail, l’étude du flux d’informations et de confidentialités qui affectent le monde politique, commercial et social.

Son travail est basé sur les sytsèmes de videosurveillances, divulguer ce qui n’est pas visible, les mécanismes de contrôle.

Persuasive System veut faire réfléchir les utilisateurs sur les notions de transparence, de disponibilité, d’intégrité et de confidentialité, en dévoilant derrière le fonctionnement de ces systèmes - l’installation sert de pièce narrative montrant un systéme qui change les attitudes, les codes et les comportements. 

« les surveillants » et « les surveillés » seront en relation, en jouant sur le visible et l’invisible, les publics en ligne et hors ligne

seront amenés à interagir dans la construction d’un récit de film. L’œuvre d’art qui en résultera sera une coproduction de l’artiste et du public - à la fois en ligne et hors ligne - se déroulant dans l’espace urbain.

COMMENT ÇA FONCTIONNE

L’installation, composée de trois caméras de surveillance visibles, permet à un public en ligne

d’enregistrer - en temps réel - tout ce qui se passe dans une zone spécifique de l’espace public. Via un site web dédié [https://ps.salvatorevitale.com], Vitale propose d’effectuer des interactions, des enregistrements et une surveillance en temps réel de cet espace public, la zone est délimitée de manière à permettre au public de choisir consciemment d’être observé. Les images sont visibles sur un grand écran situé sur place ainsi que stockées en tant que matériel d’archives.

Je suis arrivée sur le site internet de Salvatore Vitale, qui est un site très attrayant et qui peut faire rester un grand nombre de temps dessus. Après un moment, à découvrir son travail je suis arrivée sur PERSUASIVE SYSTEM qui pour ma part me fait peur et m’attire. J’ai pu en lisant son texte et en découvrant ses photos en apprendre davantage sur tout ce qui entoure la videosurveillance, un monde très compliqué. J’ai choisis son travail car c’est tout un univers que je connais presque pas et qui me fait me questionner beaucoup, et que j’ai trouvé agréablement amené par une installation intelligente en interraction avec le public, qui donne envie d’en savoir plus.

Lola knew exactly who the father of Bri’s baby was. If only she was as clear about the parentage of her own. One of the Fusilli brothers... either way it didn’t matter. She didn’t want either of them long-term and she definitely didn’t want this baby.

Bri tried to encourage her - but then Bri was just grateful that she wasn’t the only unwedded pregnant daughter in the household. Of course Bri was stoked about them both giving birth together... she was probably already planning out the play dates. And their dad, who really should have been mad, or ashamed or something, seemed thrilled at the prospect of two grandchildren. Lola just felt sick.

It wasn’t the baby’s fault, and of course she felt guilty for the little brat. But she wasn’t mother material. Hell, she wasn’t even girlfriend material. And as she stared through the bars of the cot at sleeping baby Ricco, she saw her whole life mapped out before her - a struggling single mother growing older on her father’s farm, or worse, feeling guilted into marrying Antoine and ending up the unhappy wife and mother of an ever-growing brood.

No. She couldn’t do that. She really couldn’t. Ricco would be ok. He had his aunts. He had his grandfather. They’d all cope better without her messing everything up.

Bri heard the taxi pulling off, but she was too late to stop it. She could only stand and watch it disappear into the distant horizon.

“Now, now, kid,” Grace muttered, “She’ll be back. She’s just scared that’s all. She’ll be back.”

[ they really need a maid. I gave Lola the commitment issues trait... and then decided to have her act on it. ]

“You haven’t called me in forever, Bri. You...look like our old elementary school teacher what are you wearing?” 

“I’m embracing the Jacoban lifestyle,” said Briana primly. “Theo is teaching me scripture. I may even lead mass eventually. I like it.”

Lola wrinkled her nose with a laugh. 

“As long as you’re happy it suits you,” said Grace, reaching over for a cup of tea. “What was it you wanted to talk about, Dad? I don’t want to rush you, but it’s been a long day, and I’m dying for a shower.”

They all looked to Hector expectantly. 

“I want to remarry.”

Seafood linguine had fresh seafood (bigger portion of linguine pasta would have been better as we finished it way too fast 🙈) and the truffle ravioli was cooked very al dente. Meatballs were very interesting as it had a crusty exterior. The Italian dishes here are different from your usual traditional suspects with an interesting twist. NOON: Voted ‘the best way to spend a Saturday on Nantucket’ Cisco Brewery actually has a winery and a distillery too! Plus live music and food trucks, a little something for everyone. What more could you need for a fun filled afternoon?

NIGHT: At the end of the night, this is where it all goes down. Call it ‘The Surf Lodge of Nantucket’, or ‘the Stephen Talkhouse of Nantucket’, but The Chicken Box is it’s own thing. Meet Nicholas “Nick” Von Schwartz. He’s 18 years old and kind of looks like Logan Lerman. He is the son of Penelope Von Schwartz. He’s a senior.

Named after Lola’s uncle, Nick is an ambitious and bright writer, who spends his time drinking coffee and hitting up the books, consuming as much information as possible. He knows that he is well off, and he uses that to his advantage, yet he wants more than just living with the ‘finer things’ in life; He wants to make a name for himself. Mischievous as well as cunning, Nick shares a lot of similarities with his mother, and is just as cautious and closed off with people as she was. Although, he shows a lighter side of himself to those he trusts and befriends.

The Von Schwartz twins never knew who their father was. With their mother never mentioning him and no last name or information to track him by, how could they? And, although, his sister seems to act like it doesn’t bother her, Nick has grown up dying to find out who his father is. He plans on figuring it out one day, and has had an ‘on going investigation’ he’s conducted himself for years. He claims that he won’t rest until he figures it out.

Nick is very protective of his sister, Gwen. Although they are twins and even share their mother’s ability to teleport, they couldn’t be more different, with Gwen being more light hearted and naive. He knows her view of the world and her way of being makes her an easy target for those seeking to take advantage of her, so he takes it upon himself to watch out for her and make sure no one hurts her.

Gwendolyn Von Schwartz (Sister): The twins have grown up being inseparable and Nick would be lying if he said that he didn’t consider his sister his best friend.

The Mckinnons (Family Friends): Seeming as their mothers are best friends despite their past rivalry, they have known each other for years.

The Linguines (Family Friends): Due to their mother’s close friendship with their father, the Von Schwartz kids get along with the Linguine’s.
