Just finished this commission, this lidded jar stands roughly 27cm high. Made using a new white stoneware I have been playing around with. Hello 🖐🏾 day 9 #marchmeetthemaker is how it's made. If you follow my stories you will have of seen the different ways I make my leather products which is a mixture of traditional and modern techniques. In this video I feature the carry all purse which has a internal pocket to separate cards. Quite a good sleep here in the Norfolk caravan; a couple days of (somewhat) simplicity with sounds of wood pigeons, views of grassy countryside and eating too much bad stuff. I’ve actually started collecting flowers for pressing again (poppies, my fave) + enjoying noticing the little things like old road signs. It’s made me nervously excited about next Saturday, I’m ready to be out in the countryside feeling it like usual - the sticky air, the sound of feet on the trail - not just in a car. It’s too claustrophobic in the car. . . . But speaking of complex simplicity, I bring you my maker no.9 - Lisa Dougan. Her jewellery looks minimal in that it’s quite graphic but it’s very time-consuming. She taught herself how to do the technique shown in the first photo, if I remember rightly, and uses a basic but striking colour palette to enhance the geometrics. Now a maker at a highly popular + distinctive jewellery brand, Lisa is meticulous + caring about what she makes. We each have our labour of love, as is shown with all of the makers I have for my #silentauction, and so bid on this maker and you’ll receive a stunning mystery beaded necklace. Today’s prompt for @indie_roller insta challenge is “Vision”, and my vision for the future is at somewhat of a crossroads. My business plan so far has very much been for @designbywingers to grow organically, have fun with what I make and build it as a sanctuary where my weird can exist wonderfully, but in the long run that is not a business plan, and that is not an clear vision for the future: That can best be described as a plodding along. And I don’t plod. Is Wingers something I see as a full time future endeavour, or is it a forever side hustle where I let my weird out? Is this where I will funnel all my creative energy, or is it the weird creative outlet fuelling another job? Am I Wingers, or is Wingers just a part of me? I’ve had a lot of time to think and feel recently, and a lot of thoughts and feelings about the future has come up. This has made me sit around like I had eight milk shakes in my hands, trying to decide which one is the right one to drink... They all seem so delicious, they all bring various perks and a promise of happiness, stability and dreams, but which one do I choose? The vision is currently a bit muddled... Please send advice. One of my early glaze tests on a Yunomi from a few months ago . I discarded this one originally as it was only meant as a test and the glaze ran on to the foot ring (which at the time I was really disappointed by) so it got pushed to the back of a shelf. However, I was going through things in a bit of a tidy up of the studio yesterday, came across it again and decided I really liked it.
