Printing Plant Art Book Fair 2019 22-24 November

In 2018, Looiersgracht 60  held the first edition of Printing Plant- a  bespoke, 3-day art book fair where we brought more than 80 like-minded and  independent publishers from 14 different countries under one roof and gave  our audiences a chance to engage with a remarkable selection of artists  editions, multiples, art catalogues, books, monographs, periodicals  and rare ephemerals that are generally unavailable in bookstores.     To this effect, it gives us great pleasure to announce that Looiersgracht 60  will be hosting a second edition of Printing  Plant during Amsterdam Art Weekend 2019.  Prior to its current use as a non-profit exhibition centre for art, design  and architecture, Looiersgracht 60 was home to a cardboard and paper factory  producing pamphlets, posters, limited-editions and cards for artists and  museums, making it uniquely suited to the ethos of the fair. Today,  publishing has assumed an increasingly central position within artistic  practices. Inversely, it has become harder to produce, distribute and present  art books primarily due to the lack of funding. Through Printing Plant,  Looiersgracht 60 invokes its past to support the art book of the present, and  to foster a community of art-publishers both locally and globally.    Amsterdam’s history includes a rich narrative of artistic print culture that  has been lacking in visibility as the city has not hosted any book fairs  focusing on art books in the recent years. Having successfully organised  Printing Plant 2018, which included a carefully curated public programme  thematically divided to complement the book fair, this year we hope to  achieve the same and much more!     CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS    We are now accepting  applications for Printing Plant 2019 from independent publishers, artists,  artspaces, galleries, university and museum press, and specialist trade  suppliers.     If you would like to  participate, please fill out the provided application  form.     Submission deadline: 15 June  2019    All applicants will be  notified regarding the selection by 15 July 2019    We look forward to receiving  your applications.     For further information have  a look at our website  or instagram.  If you have any questions  please email valeria@looiersgracht60.org.

Hardcore Fanzine: Good and Plenty, 1989-1992⁣⁣ Available at www.draw-down.com⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Focused on seven issues of Good and Plenty fanzine produced in the late 1980s/early 1990s, Hardcore Fanzine looks at the series through the lens of graphic design and typography, as a project that reflected and embodied technology of the period.
