Although SoTE confirmed Loretta is not an Albinauric with Gaius lore, I was still stressing out over the fact that she must have at least looked similar to one if people in the setting confused her for such :т But in the end, I figured the rumor about her being an Albinauric was caused by the shape of her shield, nothing mentioning appearance.. so yeah, it is just her aesthetic!

Nonetheless, I could not decide which hair color to keep! Probably the bright one, the 'glowing' look of it works well *voice of a guy that adores contrasts*

hey what's the deal with Gaius armor set confirming Loretta isn't an albinauric?

I saw his set in details on Fextra and even discussed it with someone, but might have missed something ...

Actually missing a lot for obvious reasons, but Loretta is essential for my AU, need to know everything abt her 😊 BTW I headcanon her being not albinauric. Maybe mixed somehow for some reasons (had such thoughts, need to elaborate)

Ah, it is this thing!

This bit confirms that there is a correlation between Albinaurics and not wearing shoes or pants! Some have legs, like Latenna, but you can tell they're weak as they have to use their wolf companions to move around, others have their legs already fade just like Albus said:

Meanwhile, Loretta clearly has legs, and pretty much armoured too, and uses them to ride her horse!

There were other clues prior, such as description of her staff saying that her being an Albinauric is an "absurd rumour", or Albinauric Staff's description saying that the secret of Albinaurics is casting sorcery using Arcane when all Loretta's sorceries are Intelligence-scaling! But the legs thing really DID it for me!

P.S.: That makes Loretta second character who is not THE oppressed species she sympathises with but only cosplaying as one. Another character like that is Dung Eater. And since he has been at the Haligtree they had to have the "we're not so different you and I" showdown and I will NOT be convinced otherwise fdjfdjsfds

My thoughts on the rumour of Loretta being an albinauric. Not quite fleshed out, just in general... can't settle on one version yet ).

Her being only half albinauric somehow. Maybe, result of some cross-breeding experiment... or just some Carian noble taking in an albinauric woman (really loving her or whatever... I have an OC guy who had several albinauric wives, he even tried to take Loretta's adoptive daughter for himself, and he was sort of a creep, for sure. Loretta may have had a better family that brought her up to be really noble and kind).

Subjected to some experiments, thus becoming not quite human, Loretta was a weak sickly child at first. One day she got severely ill and would most probably die, but her parents were striving to save her life, so they subjected her to some experimental treatment... like silver blood transfusion or whatever... either she would die anyway or would get cured... but it worked! As a result Loretta's body became altered somehow - hence her connection to the Albinaurics (so technically her blood could've been pink, not exactly red).

Or maybe just witnessing some cruel treatment of albinaurics in her youth, some experiments, and being naturally really kind and empathetic, Loretta was deeply impressed, felt that was not rtight... (I like half-blood version more myself)

Also she was tired of being a sickly noble child guarded away from the world, eager to get stronger and prove herself. So she started learning to fight. That actually makes her similar to my own Lyra, who was also of noble Carian origin. I tend to think they knew each other back in Carian days (and later, at the Haligtree). Lyra's parents considered her to be under Loretta's bad influence, when she left forthe Haligtree too (and them all being under that 'evil Miquella's charm' - no actual evil charm or manipulation in my AU, but the rumour went wild, it was actually like this).

So later they worked together to bring the Age of Abundance.

Actually watching Loretta's fight at the Haligtree and wow.. she's just so.. smooth with it?

She fights so majestically with each swing of her war sickle n its transitions into the spells she uses

not to talk about Loretta's Slash (which has a place in my heart because I used it a lot in my first play through)... wow she's so cool...

i am aware thats its likely canon that loretta is albinauric based on tongue and cheek item descriptions calling the rumors about it “absurd”, but i also really like the idea that loretta was just Some Knight who became concerned for and cared for the plight of albinaurics. she is a knight, and how can she uphold her vows if she can’t protect the innocent? the rumors about her being albinauric could’ve stemmed from discrimination against them being so potent that even associating with them or god forbid caring about them was just so unfathomable that one would have to be albinauric to be able to sympathize with their struggles

Some thoughts on the Haligtree, where I have been spending most of my time as of late.

- I get that we are welcoming everyone here, Miq, but did you have to invite the giant ants. I think they are shunned for a reason.

- And the rot zombies! 😑

- Man those Bubble Boys have beefed up since the capital.

- I GOT THE BUBBLE TRUMPET I am happy.

- Also the medium sized bubble boys have really pretty shawls. I wonder if I could make something like that. (But probably with fewer tassels.)

- I am happy that the Misbegotten seem to have found a place. They deserve one.

- Also I bet they have a BLAST running around there. Can you imagine being a little guy with wings living in the Haligtree?

- Loretta, I have had a crush on you since Liurnia. 😍 WE COULD HAVE KISSED AT THE PROMENADE BUT NOOOO.

- That stretch between the prayer room and the inner part of Elphael hoo boy what a gauntlet. I leveled up so much in there (and died. And died. And died some more. 😅)

- The rot room is covered in pink lilies and butterflies!! I did NOT see that coming!! I like to think Malenia's got a girlie girl side that is coming through her dreams in the form of PINK.

- Also, just curious, are the Pests/Rot Kindred who seem to be listening to some kind of Pest Preacher, is that because of Malenia's presence? Since her phase 2 is "Goddess of Rot"? Are they awaiting her ascension or something?

- I know that the rot is because of Malenia. I get that. But also, knowing how things turn out in the DLC, I find it very interesting that the Haligtree, which was supposed to be some kind of refuge for those unwanted by the Golden Order, is so clearly rotting. My English major sense is tingling and telling me this is foreshadowing that maybe not everything is as it is supposed to be. (Also knowing that his and Miquella's goals seemingly align so much makes me extra sad for Mohg. I'm sure he was very drawn to Miquella because of all this.)

I'm sure I will think of more things. This is mostly just me putting down my ruminations from the past week or so. I feel like Malenia deserves her own post. Damn. What an awesome character.
