Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live had its release date and its cancellation announced in the same statement, marking a new level of absurdity in gaming. The media landscape is in freefall and, funny as this is, it's really quite concerning.

Well, today marked the last of the SIF2 Daily Theatre episodes. Many thanks to the translators for making these available, and of course to the Love Live staff for giving us the many adventures of our favorite school idols for so long.

Should the Daily Theatre once again return via some other venue, we'll have them up here as they arrive. I don't know how likely that is, but then I didn't expect them to come back the first time.

The "classic" episodes for each date will continue to post and reblog as normal for the foreseeable future. I thank you for all your support.

Twitter/X is imploding over the SIF2 news and it's bothering me a little.

And no, it's not about the global launch/shutdown, although I must admit that releasing a global version of a game that's gonna be shut down in three months is an incredibly crappy thing to do. And personally, I wasn't interested in SIF2, because everything I saw proved my gut feeling that this wasn't going to be a good game. In addition to hearing about how sucky the gameplay was, the reuse of old cards (yeah, reusing the old URs from that game was a dumb move) was what cemented it for me. It just screams laziness and quick cash grab to me.

The main thing that bothers me is how people are begging for a SIFAS2.

I can understand folks missing SIFAS. I can understand why folks were so frustrated with the game, too. I'm in both camps! But what I don't understand is why people are suddenly acting like SIFAS is the Holy Grail of Love Live games when fans were very vocal about it's flaws, with the gameplay and the gacha rates/power creep being major sore points. Not to mention the story really fell off after season 2, in spite of its flaws in storytelling, to the point where I just skipped it. Like, I remember when folks were actively wishing for the game's EoS and dragging it on social media.

Now I hear some of those same people complain about how SIFAS was treated and how it and SIF died for a crappy game, when they themselves had nothing really good to say about SIFAS. It really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
