2022 kpop recap

in light of the new year I've decided to talk all by favourite releases/groups that either came out this year ( I've also included songs i discovered  this year), i won’t be  including  any releases I've already reviewed. in no particular order.

catch & release-H1 KEY: i found this song like a couple months ago and i love it so much, the only way i can describe is if ITZY released flip a coin by BILLIE, it’s so good.

shakalaka - dal shabat: this song is sooo good i love the instrumental it  sounds glittery. i wish there were performance videos because i really wanna see the choreography.

forever 1 - SNSD: this song is so amazing, i already have a soft spot for group reunions but this song slaps, i feel like if you enjoyed queendom by red velvet or scientist and TTT by twice this song is right up your alley. also whoever was responsible for the final chorus deserves a raise for  the pure amount of emotion in her voice.

designer nct 127: i love this song so much it’s so nice, i love R&B so much anyway but SM’s producers  really understand the genre.

copycat - APINK CHOBOM: the vibes this song have are immaculate, there's something so nostalgic about it.

AOA: I've listened to AOA casually  but i recently decided to check out their Bsides and they have so many good ones, my recommendations are: cherry pop, super duper, 10 seconds and short hair(which isn’t a b side but still bangs)

F(X): similar to aoa I've always enjoyed their music but i’ve never really dived into their discography besides title tracks my recommendations are: love, chu ♡ , mr boogie, when  i’m alone and every bside off the pink tape album.

 chesire - itzy: this song slapped so hard in fact the entire album was fire.

baby i miss you - 2NE1:this song is so pretty, for some reason it reminds me of new jeans like if this song was released now it would go to new jeans.

Yein falls for reader and the reader feels the same but they are strangers so one of them makes a move as one day when they pass by eachother. Like something along the lines of running after one another and asking for their names. Fluffy fluff please

A/N: I still can’t believe that Lovelyz disbanded, they were one of my favorite groups and Achoo is still my favorite Kpop love song. I’m going to miss them so much. I’ve been thinking of them because always come to my mind during spring and summer. Do yourself a favor and listen to some Lovelyz to brighten your day, and I hope you all enjoy!

Yein liked having a routine. It was something that helped start her days off right, and as long as she was able to do her morning routine, she could handle even the craziest days. That was why she woke up early every morning, ate a delicious breakfast (because eating good food is very important) and then went on a quick run around the neighborhood, starting her day off with the sun. Then, when she got home, she’d have a hot shower and a cup of coffee and would be ready to conquer the world, energized and usually happy. It was only when the weather was bad that she didn’t follow this exact routine. Sure, maybe it was great that all of her neighbors probably knew her schedule, but she liked to focus on the benefits, like the fact that she’d gotten to know all of the neighborhood dogs and got to see all of the cats in the windows soaking up the morning sun.

It was also a perk that she got to run into you every morning. She was sure that she never would have met you had the two of you not run into each other so often on your morning jogs. Of course, she didn’t really know you, the two of you had only exchanged greetings and occasional small talk as you both stopped to pet a dog or take a photo of a nice view, but in a way she felt like she knew you.

She knew that her morning routine lined up with yours almost every day. She knew that you lived on the opposite side of the block than her, because the two of you were always going in opposite directions. She knew that you liked to listen to music while you ran, although she could sometimes hear a podcast coming through your earbuds on the weekends. She also knew that you liked animals, as she’d seen you stop to pet them many times now. She knew what brand of athletic wear you liked, and even what your favorite color was, because you had mentioned it once when she complimented your shirt.

She knew all of this, but still didn’t even know your name. Your smile brightened her mornings and she loved the sound of your voice when you playfully commented on meeting her so often, but she wasn’t sure if you looked forward to the brief meetings as much as she did.

“You’re head over heels for this person whose name you don’t even know, after seeing them, like, five minutes tops a day?” Mijoo said when Yein told her about you, shaking her head incredulously and laughing loudly despite the looks she got from the people around them in the crowded café. “Honestly, I’m kind of impressed! That sounds like something that would happen in a drama, you know?”

“It’s my life, not a drama,” Yein whined in response, already regretting coming to her older friend for advice. She should have known that the other girl would laugh at her even after being bribed with coffee. “I should have told Sujeong or Soojung instead, at least they’d be helpful!”

“Aren’t they both single?” Mijoo shot back, leaning back in her chair with a smug grin. “Meanwhile, I’m dating the love of my life and the woman of everyone’s dreams. Shouldn’t you be asking me for flirting advice instead of complaining?”

“Does Jisoo know you talk about her like that?” The younger girl winkled her nose in annoyance and took a sip of her coffee, knowing that people were glancing at them, but also knowing that asking her to quiet down was useless. At this point in their friendship, she was used to standing out.

“She knows and she loves it.”

“I doubt that.” Yein sighed, running a hand through her hair. “Plus, she’s got weird taste, and your idea of flirting is making weird poses and yelling until the person you like looks at you.”

“It worked, didn’t it?”

“Yeah, but only because Jisoo is into weirdos like you. If I did that....” She shuddered at the very thought. Mijoo was pretty and charming enough that her craziness just made her more attractive, but Yein was sure she would never be able to pull of the things that the older girl did. She could already see how confused you would be if she even tried, because it was so against her character.

The older girl let out a soft laugh (soft by her standards, at least) and leaned forward again, reaching over the table to pat Yein’s shoulder. “Listen, I’ll be serious for a second. You’re really pretty and sweet, and you’ve got that ‘innocent girl next door’ vibe working for you. Anyone would be lucky to have you as their girlfriend. Honestly, I would be more surprised if this mystery jogging person wasn’t already attracted to you, because I know that I wouldn’t want to talk to anyone that early in the morning.”

“What if they’re just a morning person?”

“You’re a morning person, right? Would you stop and talk to everyone you passed every morning?”

The younger girl paused, mulled the question over. “Well, now that I think about it, no. I usually just kind of nod and smile, unless they have a dog. Then I stop and say hello to pet it.”

“There you go, then. Are they the only person you stop to talk to?”

Honestly, she couldn’t really remember how or why the two of you had started to exchange small talk while passing each other. She did remember smiling at you that first time and thinking that you were attractive, but over the last few months the two of you had somehow started to occasionally chat and exchange jokes in the morning. Did it start because both of you stopped to pet the same dog? It had happened so naturally, just like falling for you had; she didn’t even notice it happening because she had gotten so used to it so quickly.

“I guess they are,” she said, a bit surprised herself. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen them stop for anyone else either.”

“Dude, they totally like you!” Mijoo exclaimed, her eyes twinkling as she leaned even closer, a dangerous smile on her lips. That smile usually meant that she was thinking up a wild plan that was doomed to go wrong, and the younger girl wasn’t sure she wanted to her about it.

“That seems like a really big jump, just because-.”

“Listen,” the other girl interrupted, waving away Yein’s worries. “You should at least get their name. Come on, they’re talking to you every day, it won’t be weird. Just make a joke about forgetting to introduce yourself and it’ll happen naturally.”

“That’s... actually not a terrible idea.”

“I’m offended that you think any of my ideas would be terrible, but I’ll let it slide because you’re cute.” Mijoo wiggled her eyebrows and bit at her straw as she leaned back in her chair, obviously pleased with herself. “Go get ‘em, tiger.”

“Never say that again, please.” Yein groaned, but she couldn’t help the small smile creeping across her face as she thought about finally learning your name.

The next day, Yein found herself up even earlier than usual. She was way too nervous to sleep in any longer, so after a moment of tossing and turning, she decided to go ahead and get up. As she fixed her hair and washed the remnants of sleep from under her eyes, she went over what she should say to you in her head.

Should she be forward? Or maybe let you start the conversation? She wasn’t sure, and that made her nervous, even though she’d never really been the shy type before.

“You can do this,” she told her reflection, hyping herself up with a little jump before she took a deep breath and headed for her front door, determined to at least learn your name if nothing else.

It was a beautiful morning with only a few clouds in the sky and a slight breeze making the summer warmth much more bearable. For a moment, she stood still and closed her eyes, letting the sun warm her skin, before smiling and beginning to run, already feeling much better. As usual, she felt energized by her morning routine, and she felt her worries start to melt away as she focused on her breathing and the sounds of the birds in the trees around her.

It wasn’t long until she saw a familiar figure coming towards her on the sidewalk and she felt her heart jump as she slowed her pace a bit, preparing to stop for a quick chat like usual. Your smile was as bright as usual as you waved, slowing down until you’d stopped, taking a sip of your water as she approached.

“Good morning,” you said, “it’s beautiful out here today, isn’t it?”

“It really is,” she agreed, smiling back and hoping that you couldn’t tell how nervous she suddenly was. She wasn’t sweaty or anything, right? “I felt energized as soon as I stepped outside.”

“Same here! It helps that my neighbor was coming out to walk his dog at the same time. It was a great way to start my morning.” You put the top back onto your water bottle and she swallowed, knowing that the two of you would be parting again at any moment.

“By the way, I realized that I never introduced myself, even though we’ve been seeing each other, like, every day for a while.” She held out her hand. “I’m Yein. I live in the apartments at the end of the lane.”

You seemed to brighten up, quickly reaching forward to shake her hand as your smile widened. “I’m (Y/N), I live in the apartments near the main road. It’s nice to finally be able to put a name to a face.”

“Right?” She felt herself relax a bit, relieved that you seemed just as happy to finally know her name. She liked the sound of yours. “Now I don’t have to call you ‘morning run neighbor’ in my head anymore.”

“I’m flattered that you were thinking of me,” you said with a laugh, and she felt herself blush. Thankfully, you continued. “I referred to you as the pretty runner, so we were in the same boat.”

Whelp, now her face was even more red and she couldn’t stop smiling as she playfully tossed her hair over her shoulder. “Well thank you! I don’t mind that nickname at all.”

Your phone rang with a notification, interrupting the moment, and she watched as you grimaced at the screen, then looked up at her with an apologetic look.

“Sorry, it looks like I have to run, literally. They need me to come in to work early.”

She tried not to show her disappointment as she shook her head. “It’s okay! I hope you have a good day!” She turned away to continue jogging, trying to console herself that at least she got your name, but before she could get more than a step away, she heard your voice call out her name, sending a thrill through her body.

“Wait, Yein!” You stepped to her side once again, stopping her in her tracks. For a moment, you seemed to hesitate, before you flushed and held out your phone. “Um, why don’t you give me your number? It would be nice to be able to talk to you for longer than a few minutes. I’d like to get to know more about you.”

Her face hurt from smiling so wide as she accepted your phone, her heart pounding in her chest. Maybe buying Mijoo that coffee for her advice hadn’t been such a bad idea after all. She’d have to thank the other girl later.

“I’d love to get to know more about you too.”

As the cast gathered everyone started to get riled up during their introductions, copying Jessi’s nunu nana dance. They got even more excited as it was announced that there would be special guests for the episode, waiting patiently for the mystery people to round the corner.

“Joining us today is…Lee Sangyeob and Im Y/n!” Jessi had to do a double take, not registering what they had said before you were walking towards her. “Yah, what are you doing here?!” She shouted, gaining the attention of her co-stars. “I was invited,” you said simply. She was quick to pull you into a hug, having been busy recently she hadn’t had the time to see you as much.

You were both very distracted as they continued to talk, longing stares were shared when the cameras shifted off you. They told you to split up into two teams and that Sangyeob and you would be choosing first. You pretended to think about it for a moment. “You better choose me,” Jessi threatened.

“We choose Mijoo,” Sangyeob said, laughing at the expression on Jessi’s face. “We also choose Jessi,” you said, patting her back to calm her. She glared pointedly at you, turning back to the others and jokingly ignoring you.

Once the cameras were cut and you were instantly pulled into Jessi’s side, her arm draping over your shoulder. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” She whispered in your ear. “Surprise!” You smiled, going up on your tippy-toes and pressing a peck to her cheek.

“Why?” She asked, referring to your sudden display of affection. Normally she was the one to initiate all contact, so when you did it came as a surprise. “I just missed you that’s all,” you blushed, lowering your head in embarrassment. Her gaze softened at your words, “I missed you too,” she spoke sincerely.

A chorus of ‘ooo’s and ‘awe's made you turn around, meet with the rest of the cast watching your exchange. “Everyone, this is my partner Y/n,’ she announced, earning even more coo’s. “Wait really?? They're so different to you,” Nara unnie asked teasingly.

“They're too shy for you unnie,” Mijoo added, making you blush even more. “If only they knew,” Jessi shook her head. They would soon come to realise that once you got out of your shell you were just like Jessi.

Once everyone’s intense round of questioning died down you all made your way to your cars, preparing to drive to the next destination. Jessi and you of course opted to ride together, using the rare opportunity you had to see one another.

As soon as you were in the car Jessi pulled you into her side again, resting your head on her shoulder. Out of habit you interlaced your fingers with hers, thumb running over your knuckles. You sighed relaxing in her touch, it had been far too long since you’d even kissed her perfect lips.

At the thought you raised your head, staring into her chocolate eyes. She pinched her brows together. Wondering what was going on inside that pretty little head of yours. Just as she was about to ask, you crashed your lips into hers.

It was sweet, full of longing and passion. Jessi felt all the emotions you conveyed through the kiss, bringing her hand up to massage your jaw. When you pulled away, you were breathless, forehead pressed together. “I love you so much,” you whispered, breath fanning her lips. “I love you too, more than you know.” Connecting your lips once more, you were both content with the moment.

Prompt: Hiii I would like to request a scenario with lovelyz jisoo and fem reader both being superheros. And them having a crush on each other and always flirting when they are defeating bad guys without knowing who they really are under there masks. Until they have a cute sincere moment and take off there masks and confess. I'm sorry if it was a lot I got excited. 😅 just a thank you in advance 😊

A/N: Since there was no specified powers, I made them up myself. Jisoo’s powers are teleportation and turning energy into weapons, and the reader’s powers are flying and super strength. This was super fun to write and I’ve been excited about writing it from the beginning, but it took me a while to figure out what direction I wanted to take with it. I hope you all enjoy though!

Warnings: Some cursing, someone gets hurt, nothing graphic

“On your left!” Jisoo looked up at your exclamation, dropping the robot she’d just destroyed to the ground and grinning.

“Run and fly all you want, (Y/N), I’ve still destroyed more robots than you!” You laughed as you landed on the roof of a nearby building and kicked the robot guarding it off. This was normal.

Fighting bad guys with Jisoo had almost become a game, and it was fun. The back and forth competition and flirting made the fights go faster, and it was nice to know that someone had your back.

“Not for long, I’m going for The Android himself,” you called to her, knocking the last roof-robot to the ground. In front of you, the old abandoned electronics factory towered, dark and creepy. You were almost positive the villain was inside, especially since Jisoo had been able to trace the control panel inside of the bots there.

“Not without me, you aren’t,” Jisoo said from right behind you, making you jump and spin around. She grinned. “You always forget that, while you can fly, I can teleport.”

“I didn’t forget, I was just concentrating,” you retorted, putting your hands on your hips. She rolled her eyes at you and stepped forward, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

“Whatever you say, honey. Let’s go.”

The inside of the factory was no more welcoming than the outside, and you squinted into the dusty, dim room. There was a click, and then light filled the room from Jisoo’s flashlight. When you looked at her, she winked.

“Always be prepared, right?”

“What would I do without you,” you said, a playful lilt to your voice, before you paused, listening. There was a familiar whirring sound, and it seemed to be getting closer, echoing in one of the many halls.

“That’s more robots. We must be getting closer.” As she spoke, she tucked the flashlight into her belt and held out her hand. You’d seen it so many times, but every time, her powers still amazed you. A glowing purple sword materialized in her hand, buzzing with energy. The sound seemed to draw the robots faster, because only a moment later, they came stomping through one of the hallways and into the open area where the two of you stood.

“I’m guessing we’ll find our man right through there,” you said, grinning, and then you were in the thick of it. As you raised your fists, Jisoo disappeared from your side and reappeared behind the robots, raising her weapon to strike.

She took care of the back rows, slashing straight through the metal, as you took care of the front, channeling raw strength to tear through their mechanic bodies. Soon, there was nothing but a pile of metal and wires, and she raised her free hand to give you a high-five.

“A few chunks of metal are no match for us,” she said, grinning, and you laughed, dusting the debris off your arms.

“Now let’s go explore that hallway. I have a feeling it’ll lead us right to him.”

The hallway was just as dusty as the rest of the building, but her flashlight cut through the darkness so that the two of you could see. There didn’t seem to be any sign of life, other than the footprints in the dust left by the robots. Still, you had a feeling that the two of you were on the right track. There were always back entrances to these places, and the fact that you’d just been attacked by robots from this area was key.

“God, would it kill him to dust?” She coughed and waved her hand in front of her face, and you laughed quietly, covering your mouth with your hand so you didn’t breathe in too much of the dust yourself.

“I guess that’s not on his villain agenda.”

“I mean, he could always just make his robots do it. Come on-.” You shushed her, and she gave you an offended look before following your gaze. Far down the hallway, there was light coming from one of the stairs, and the sound of energy. The two of you crept closer, until she put her hand up, motioning for you to stop, handed you her flashlight, and disappeared.

She reappeared behind the stairs and crept forward until she was almost at the base of the stairs, still concealed in the shadows. She watched for a few moments before again appearing at your side.

“He’s up there, alright, but he’s expecting us. And there’s this giant robot thing behind him. Our best move would be to surprise him somehow.” She spoke softly enough that her voice didn’t even echo, and you nodded, looking back at the stairs.

“Is it just one secluded room?”

“Looks like it.”

“Then you’ll have to teleport us in there. Behind him.” You handed her back the flashlight, and she killed the light, leaving the two of you in relative darkness. Then, she looped her arms around your waist and leaned in close, whispering in your ear.

“Hold on tight.”

The two of you appeared behind the giant array of computers, and as you leaned out to see what was going on, you saw what she’d told you about. The Android was sitting in his chair facing the stairs, with a giant robot behind him. The ceiling was a little low for your liking, meaning that you’d have to contain your fighting style. When you glanced at Jisoo, she was in position to jump out, hand ready to materialize a weapon. The two of you gave each other a look, and then you reached out and tore the giant ball of wires running the computers in half.

A spark went up from the severed lines and the computers all shut down, the sound causing The Android to spin around.

“What the hell-.”

“Looking for us, Android?” Jisoo stepped out from behind the computers on one side, purple sword in hand, and you stepped out the other, flexing your fingers. His face twisted with anger and he flushed, standing from his chair.

“You two! How?”

“Always study your opponents, dumbass,” you said, rolling your shoulders and grinning. In Jisoo’s other hand, a blue sword appeared, and she twirled it around, grin mirroring yours.

“It’s time, Android. Give up now and you won’t get hurt.”

“Like hell I’ll give up to you squirts!” He thrust his hand into his pocket, and the giant robot at his side whirred to life, glass eyes glowing red and head turning to look at the two of you. Immediately, The Android turned tail and ran back down the stairs, and the robot moved to block your way.

“Damn,” she said, raising her weapons. “I guess we’ll have to catch up with him later.”

“You could always go after him and let me take care of this thing,” you said, watching the bot carefully as it turned to look at you.

“No way. We fight together, remember?”

“Fine. But hurry!” You rushed then, coming a bit off the ground to put more force into your punch. Your fist landed, but to your surprise, there was barely a dent in the metal when you pulled away, still floating in the air near the bot. “What the-.” You didn’t get to finish your sentence. The bot brought up his giant arm and you couldn’t dodge fast enough. The fist hit you square in the stomach and chest and sent you flying back against the wall, crashing through the rock into the next room.

You had never felt that kind of pain before, and it took you by surprise. This robot had been built to fight someone with super strength, if the pain coursing through your back was anything to go by. You winced and lay still, knowing that your body wouldn’t be too hurt but not wanting to move too quickly. Jisoo was shouting your name, and the robot was still whirring, like it was moving towards you, but you couldn’t do anything but close your eyes.

You’d never listened to Jisoo fight. The buzz of energy slicing through the air stood your hairs on end, and you wished you could get up and help. But the pain wasn’t gone yet, and it would be worse for her if you tried to barge in and really broke something.

The robot stopped moving towards you, and you knew that Jisoo was fighting it head-on. You could hear the metal melting as it came in contact with the pure energy of her weapons, and when you opened your eyes again, it only had one arm. You studied it as Jisoo fought it back, looking over the thick metal coating of its middle. It was armored everywhere, it seemed, but then your eyes caught something. There, hidden on the back of it’s heel, was the control box. The metal on the little box was obviously less armored than the rest of its body, and you knew you could destroy it.

Carefully, and as quietly as you could, you sat up, wincing at the pain that still ran through your spine. Nothing was broken, of course, your bones were too strong, but you’d have awful bruising. You picked your way through the rubble of the wall until you were at the wall itself and then laid on your stomach, creeping forward. Jisoo was fighting it back towards you, and you knew that it couldn’t see you. So you reached out your arm and took hold of his heel.

Your fingers tightened, crushing through the metal, and then you yanked as hard as you could. The entire control box came away in your hand, and the gears in the bot ground to a sickening halt, sparking as he crumpled to the ground. Jisoo stared at you with wide eyes as you stood up from behind the robot, and you gave her a smile.

“Didn’t think it could get rid of me that easily, did you?” Her weapons disappeared and she ran towards you, immediately wrapping you up in a hug as gently as she could.

“Oh my god, I was so scared, you weren’t moving and I could’t go check on you-.”

“I’m okay,” you said, patting her back. “We need to get that Android though, we can’t let him get away.” She nodded as she pulled away, pulling herself together, but she still grabbed your hand.

“Okay. Let’s go.”

Running was a bit harder now, so you kept up by flying slightly above the ground instead. Had the ceiling been higher, you could have grabbed her and moved faster, but the ceiling was much too low, and neither of you really knew where you were going. Still, she had her flashlight out, shining it at the ground as she ran.

“Look! Footprints in the dust. Those aren’t robot prints.” You landed and looked down. Sure enough, there were prints of men’s shoes in the dust, and the two of you followed them until you reached a closed door. When you tried the knob, it was locked, but one yank brought the entire door off the hinges, and she shined her light inside.

It was a closet, with a familiar man cowering in the corner. She rolled her eyes, and you couldn’t help laughing at the sight.

“Come on, Android. It’s over.”

After the villain had been handed over to the police and the facts had been wrapped up, the two of you ended up on the roof of a nearby building, resting your sore limbs. Jisoo sighed and shook her head, looking over at you.

“You really had me worried back there,” she said, gently touching one of the bruises on your arm. 

“I’m okay,” you said again, not really knowing what else to say. This was more intimate than the two of you had ever really been, but it was genuine. You knew she’d been worried.

“Yeah, but what if you’d actually broken something, or gotten hurt even worse? I wouldn’t be able to live with myself knowing I’d let that happen.”

“It was my fault. I was dumb enough to charge in without really studying the robot. The ones before were so easy to defeat that I let my guard down.” The two of you sat in silence for a moment, both of you looking at your bruised arm, before Jisoo looked up at your face and smiled softly.

“Your mask got all ripped up in your fall.” It was true. Honestly, you’d forgotten about it, but it had almost come off. You tugged at the fabric and looked around you before sliding it off completely. No one else was really around, since it was still considered unsafe, so you weren’t scared of anyone seeing. Jisoo looked at you with wide eyes before she took her own mask off.

“Are we doing this?”

“I guess. It’s not like you don’t know my name,” you said, laughing and running your fingers through your hair.

“You know mine too. But you don’t know who I am. I’m just a regular person when I don’t have this mask on. I’m a video game producer at the Woollim game company downtown.” You raised your eyebrows in surprise.

“Wow, really? I work at the newspaper office right across from you!”

“Small world,” she said with a smile, and wow, was she pretty. Even with her mask on, she was pretty, but without it, her beauty was stunning. The two of you just stared at each other for a moment before you both burst into laughter over the situation.

“Why are we so awkward? I literally work with you all the time,” you said, shaking your head.

“No kidding. I just wasn’t expecting you to be so attractive without your mask,” she replied, cheeks flushed pink.

“I’m attractive with my mask on, thank you,” you joked, and she elbowed you.

“Whatever. See if I’m honest with you ever again.”

“I was kidding! You’re really pretty without your mask, so I was taken aback too.” She grinned at you, cheeks still pink, and you wanted her see her smile all the time.

“You should go on a date with me. Just us, as regular humans, not superheroes.” The pain faded away as you looked at her, realizing how much you really liked her. She was your crime fighting partner, yes, but maybe you wanted to date her too.

“I’d love that.”
