it's so healing seeing dream laughing until he wheezes at everything techno says, but in fairness techno is the Funniest person in the world

techno is the funniest person in the world and dream is the biggest believer in that fact.

like, even when he was trying to be serious and scary looking for tommy during exile, techno was reducing this man to laughter. he got dream laughing in the prison.

dream thinks techno is hilarious and he's so right.

Something I noticed recently is that Dream punches Techno in the prison when Techno first comes to visit him and he’s upset that Techno fell into the trap. And Dream also punches Techno when Techno is making fun of him being homeless and places the bed, suggesting Dream could use it to sleep under a tree.

In fanfics and stuff I haven’t necessarily seen much of Dream physically hurting Techno when annoyed or whatever like maybe a little shoving or punching playfully on the shoulder rarely but not like actually really punching him ya know. But I did notice in some fics including your fics that you have Dream giving him the finger so I was wondering if that was kinda your replacement for it, or if it was kinda derived from that behavior. I mean it makes a lot of sense whether or not it is related, like that is the kinda dynamic between them anyways so it is fitting. But I don’t know it’s just something I’ve been thinking about and was curious on your thoughts.

(Also the image of Dream socking Techno in the face and breaking his nose when upset is just kinda funny to me. I did notice too that Techno never punches back and just kinda lets it happen which is pretty wholesome)

i think it's because i don't tend to translate minecraft behaviors as a one-to-one exactly but more looking towards the situation and context surrounding it.

so like, obviously when c!techno is teasing c!dream about being homeless in a generally good-natured way that dream is clearly amused by, he's not actually hauling off and punching techno in the face. like. not only does techno not react like that's what happened, it doesn't make sense, and in minecraft rp culture, that's just not what that action would mean in that scenario. punching is usually a playful thing that kind of situation so it translates more to a light, joking shove or smack on the shoulder. OR maybe being flipped off (which i generally use post-prison because dream is hyper aware of his situation and not wanting to upset the balance but i have written dream shoving or otherwise smacking techno playfully as well!)

in the prison, that's a completely different context though and clearly not playful but again, i don't read it as dream cold-clocking techno either. he's frustrated and upset and scared. that read more like someone desperately shouting at the other while shoving them. and i think that was kind of the intent when you watch. he's almost hitting/shoving him back. i can perfectly visualize dream shouting those things at techno while shoving at him and techno is standing there like ???? calm down, man, it's fine, i had to come see you. like, there's probably a reason that techno doesn't physically react because what he's seeing is a starved, scared and angry dream shoving him in a panic, thinking his one chance at getting out is gone.

basically, i really look towards the context and what makes sense as well as how the other characters react and refer to it to determine what's actually going on.

also sorry, i love minecraft rp body language and i LOVE interrupting it. things like dream jumping up and down when techno is teasing him and he's amused/annoyed, i tend to read as him stomping his foot or things like that. zoomies can be both pacing in worry or excitement or fidgeting/shifting back and forth. it really depends on a lot of things and it's a lot of fun to me to sit down and try to break it down and i do put a lot of that into my fics! <3 <3 <3

ctechno teaching cdream to knit to exercise his hands after prison and at first cdream thinks it's dumb but ctechno teases him telling him he's giving up already because he's bad and it brings back cdream's competitiveness and it turns into a knitting competition :3

one of my favorite headcanons for c!rivals duo is that they have a ton of very light-hearted competitions, over just about everything.

i like to think that c!dream is often bored after prison, when he's with c!techno trying to heal. but he sees techno knitting all the time and eventually gives in when techno encourages him, mostly with 'you're just sayin' that because you can't knit' type teasing.

it gives dream something to do and he gets really into trying to be better than techno (he never quite manages that level but he does make a pretty good scarf that techno wears every single time he goes out after dream gives it to him)

Imagine trans woman Dream trying out feminine clothing for the first time and asks Techno what he thinks looks best and Techno is useless because all of Dream's outfits make him simp so hard his brain blue screens

c!techno, who genuinely has the most experience wearing skirts and dresses out of the two of them, becoming literally useless when c!dream is asking questions about what style is best because techno is just looking at her going 'pretty' while the voices alternate between mocking him for being a simp and thinking it's cute.

like, he's always thought dream was attractive because dream's always kinda been techno's one exception but she seems so happy, y'know?

i wanted to talk about dream seeing the sun for the first and how it would take him a bit to adjust, that the prison break was fueled by adrenaline. and how he would still sit on the porch, squinting, while techno holds back on making a joke about hurting his eyes because he was only there three months but man did he miss the sun.....

but really, i was thinking about their first meeting and how it was a sunny day and on top of that mountain, the light would've been shinning off their armor and how dream might have looked then. armor glistening in the sun, looking powerful. i wonder if techno ever thought about that moment when he was in the prison, seeing what dream was reduced to.

Techno holding one of the pups from the hound army and its wagging it's tail so hard it's entire body is shaking and it fits in the palm of Techno's hands and it just hits him how much it loves him, such a tiny little creature with a heart so big it's body can barely hold it, and he straight-up cries about it and gets absolutely destroyed by all his dogs jumping on him to lick his face

c!techno loving animals is such an important part of his character and he would get so emotional about this small little creature that he loves so much and that trusts him with its whole life and loves him in return, like!!

simply because c!dream is a weird, gross little green freak who does weird, gross stuff and c!techno is into that kind of thing.

techno witnesses dream chew through a piece of twine instead of using any one of the sharp objects within reach and then declare 'i got it' while holding out a frayed, drool covered end and techno is like 'disgustin'. that's adorable.'

so Technos stuck in a time loop and at the end of it, im assuming Dream dies and gets found thirty miles away from Techno before it resets with the night

im going out on a limb and guess the timeloop stops when Techno finds Dream and prevents his death 👀

how many loops does it roughly take? is Dream aware of the timeloop? im guessing not since the first letters Techno finds are the exact same

yes, your hunch is correct! it always resets when c!dream dies (or right around then) and the 'win condition' is saving dream.

i haven't decided exactly how many loops they go through but there's probably about a dozen. some that are almost the same and at least one or two c!techno almost finds dream in time. one where he manages to find c!sam but not the location and the loop resets sooner than usual. so he has to be careful.

dream isn't aware but techno does usually explain it to him through the letters and in later loops, dream is quicker to believe him which kind of implies there's some memory that he's holding onto.

i haven't worked the entire thing out completely, honestly. the setting is the hardest bit because i like the visual of things like the news paper and techno checking the grainy camera footage but i'm also a sucker for, y'know, big pig techno and weird mechanics.

so i gotta work that out. i just really wanted an au like this.
