so one thing I adore is fics that have post botw Zelda dealing with night terrors about the calamity and whenever it's the anniversary they get worse and all I can think about is

thats her birthday.

like point blank the anniversary of the calamity rearing it's ugly head to desiccate all of hyrule happens on her birthday

her seventeenth birthday to be exact she wasn't even 18 when it happened she was a teenager who had to fight off a calamity for a hundred years inside her own home due to it having burst from her castles floor

like do yall ever just think of that and how Zelda would never be able to properly celebrate her birthday without grief and guilt of her powers awakening to late

The Gerudo were running the only functional cross-regional trade network left in Hyrule. Why couldn’t they have focused on that instead of the “Quest to Find A Man” and all the weird mail-order bride fantasies it brought with it?

I guarantee a merchant traveling all the way to Lurelin in a bid to create a seafood trade route who ultimately falls in love with one of the fishermen and decides to settle down there permanently would’ve made for a way better story than what we ended up with in canon.

Hell, you could’ve made Rhondson Hudson’s major supplier of cloth and uniforms after the latter realizes his company needs unified branding in order to look professional and advertise themselves, and had them decide to get married and join together as permanent business partners as well as husband and wife after getting into a trade relationship as well as a personal one. Then you could’ve had her paying attention to fixing his uniform in particular as a cute hint that they’d get together in the end, and have it feel more like Rhondson’s own decision that she actively pursued than her feeling pressured by societal convention to marry and reproduce before she hits a certain age and resigning herself to marrying the first man who expressed interest.

I think that Wind would be torn between showing off the pictures of the fish he catches in PH, and never showing them to anyone ever. Because genuinely, some of those fish are just out there defying physics.

What if OOT! link became the gaurdian of the lost woods?

What if his form shifted from flesh and bones into bark and roots? What if his presence was felt by every stranger that set foot on his soil, looming over them like the gnarled trees. What if he felt ever snapped twig, a hot shiver blazing down -what used to be- his spine as his peaceful home is disturbed. What if the guardian could move through the trees as if they were doorways with such speed that most assume the guardian teleport using said trees.

What if this guardian wore an old tattered cape, once belonging to his old self as protection from the cold, but it is now used for games by kindred spirits who giggle and play among the trees. What if the sword, once belonged to the old army man, is now used as a prop in lively plays as if it wasn’t stained with the blood of the deserving and those not. What if the overgrown, golden armour was used to bring melodies to the quiet forest? What if, everything designed for violence was changed into a symbol of new beginnings?

What if Link took care of the kokiri, watching over them like they once did for him.

It has occurred to me that there are cannons in Wind Waker. I could TOTALLY give him a gun…

I have a Rauru/Zonai headcanon inspired by this post [link]. I think the Zonai are from the depths and changed the story of his takeover of Hyrule to sound more like the good guy.

I mean, Zonite is found almost exclusively in the depths. They have ancient structures in the depths. And if you squint, their evelutionary characteristics could hint at existing at the depths. I'll go over my points to try and be more specific with what I mean.

First of all, the zonite that they almost exclusively use for their machinery is only found in the depths (save for the extremely rare locations elsewhere). Where they use Zonite a lot for their machines, it makes sense that they would actually be from where you find it in the largest quantities.

This is followed up by the point that the Zonai have structures already built in the depths like the temples, mines, and refineries. While I guess the game wants us to think that they descended from the sky, met with Hylians with their technology, and eventually found the depths and made those structures. This doesn't make much sense to me as the only place that has zonite in the sky is the tiny cave system you find on the great sky island. I may be wrong about this, but it's still odd to me that they have such little zonite in the sky where they allegedly already had lots of Zonite devices made to show off to Hyrule.

Now, my more obscure point is that I think it makes sense for them to evolve in the depths. Big ears is my main selling point on this as having large ears to hear when you have less sight to go off of. The earrings could also assist as a tell when another Zonai is approaching. They also have a smaller animalistic nose that would make sense for filtering out and breathing in fewer air particles that the depths are full of. (Which we know are hazards given muddlebuds, puffshrooms, and the general spores you can see floating in the depth air.) The brightbloom seeds are also another thing that aren't in the sky (minus the one cave), and this is relevant because Rauru's design has brightblooms seed patterns in his hair.

My final secret point is that it doesn't follow through with the lore already present in the Legend of Zelda timeline as we know Skyward sword takes place in the sky before and established the Kingdom of Hyrule when they reached the surface. The Skyward Sword erasure bothers me a lot as a SS enjoyer (i am biased it was my first zelda game, no i dont care). If the zonai lied about their origins, then we have a good way to interpret Tears of the Kingdom without it either being an alternate universe or forcing SS to take place in an alternate universe.

As I see it, the Zonai evolved in the depths and mined Zonite, which they discovered to be very powerful and created Zonai devices that were also powerful. Discovering the land above their own, they used the Zonai devices to leave the depths and create a society on the surface. They either straight up lied about where they came from and then later created the sky islands to back up their story or created the sky islands using the zonai devices with floating abilities. Then come back down to the surface pretending to be holier beings that can "save" and "protect" Hyrule from dangerous monsters that they are skilled in killing as the depths trained them well in combat and helped them improve their technology.

recently i just had this Idea that what if

there are male gerudos only every few 100 years becuase everytime ganondorf reincarnates hes just like "im not a vai" transes his gender

or better said hes trans when he reincarnates, and the other male gerudo that arent his reincarnation, since i assume that gan doesnt appear every 100 years, are just gerudos that realize "hey wait i am not a vai"

also

considering that the gerudos are all female i think they may have alot of gerudos that are just trans but never realized it and lived their entire live feeling extremely uncomfortable and they never knew why

since gerudos arent allowed to see any male until they are adults,meaning they mostly dont even know what a man is

So anyway every ganondorf is trans

the bargaining statues in totk are interesting to me, bargaining being a stage of grief and the fact they take poe souls, but also the fact that a goddess statue in the temple of time says the same thing about the location of a bargaining statue being stuck somewhere in the great plateau. can't wait to see some theories on these things

I also wonder if that implies anything about the Great Fairies considering the "teardrop hair" shape motif from the Wind Waker Great Fairies seems to make a return in EoW's Great Fairy, or if that's just an easter egg/design shout out. The same goes for the Sword Spirits, since their designs seem to have been inspired by the WW Great Fairies and Fairy Queen, too.

If for whatever reason Lore somehow gets ahold of the Wind Waker, I plan for his first song to be an orchestral rendition of ACDC’s ‘Thunderstruck’.

I can’t put my finger on why, but it seems like it would fit.

You know. Because of Reasons. Which will absolutely not be accompanied by the appropriate amount of explosives.
