Lulu origin story: 5 years ago my moms coworker was in his yard and heard a kitten mewling for help. He found little Lulu alone and scared in this bush

She was timid and malnourished and didn’t really like to be touched. Knowing my mom was a very experienced cat owner, he offered her to us and mom accepted

She had to be dewormed and she ate like she was starving, purring loudly while she gobbled up her food

The thing about Lulu was that she didn’t like to be touched or pet…but she was still so friendly! She purred pretty much nonstop. She followed us around and showed genuine interest in everything we did. She got along with the other cats immediately, and has always just been an absolutely delightful little baby. She just….isn’t physically affectionate!

And it took years of very slow, careful effort for her to allow me to touch her. I figured out she was less shy about her back, and that she preferred scratches over pets, so gradually I would give her little scritches on her booty and after years of that, we worked our way up to SOMETIMES im allowed to pet her forehead

She’s 5 years old now. She still isn’t a big fan of being touched. But she does like to sit on plates. And I love her so much it’s unreal

Woke up to the news of one of my favorite Tumblr cats passing away. Been weepy all day, and now I'm feeling nauseated. Doesn't help that I had my Ozempic injection this morning

I get so attached to cats even when I never meet them irl. I'm sadder than I would have expected.

All I can do is snuggle Tiny Tim and try not to think about the eventuality of losing him
