Thinking about how guilty and fucked up Sabo must feel about Lulusia being wiped out literally only because he was nearby. First he can't protect Cobra. Then he couldn’t protect Kuma. He couldn’t protect an entire COUNTRY. Wiped out because he had the audacity to pick a fight with Imu. He must feel so sick over it 🥺 and fuck knows he's gonna have nightmares and carry that shame into the afterlife.

It took me almost a month to connect the dots but hear me out...
(chapter 1089 & 1090 spoilers under the cut)
I was wondering, physics-wise, how this could work:
Tumblr media
And then I remembered this fucked-up place:
Tumblr media
So there are mentions of "a hole in the ocean" and "waterfalls" both times. COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT.
By the way: 18 years passed between these two chapters 👀 As always, I'm beyond amazed by the late explanations, even if they're incomplete for now, and to me this is yet another proof of Oda's mind-blowing worldbuilding and foreshadowing skills.
I have more questions now:
How was Enies Lobby built?
What kind of island was there before?
Did the original Pluton destroy the previous island? (Since Pluton was built in Water 7 not too far I figure that's an option)
Does Water 7 keep sinking because of tectonic plates' movements influenced by the attack, much like in Venice from which the island is inspired??
Tumblr media
Additional questions rose with chapter 1090:
Tumblr media
Is the Mother Flame a replica of Pluton?
If so, why do the Gorosei need the power plant to create it ? Is it a single-use weapon?
Wait. Nuclear weapons are single-use. Einstein advocated against their use and Vegapunk clearly is his One Piece equivalent.
Oh, and there's this, too:

And the secret’s out!
...Or is it? Did the call cut off just too early?
Tumblr media
Did or didn’t, see how the other people seem to be looking up, yet Sabo seems to be looking up and behind? I’d say this implies that he was somewhere at the edge of the place, perhaps not even on the island itself, and thus narrowly escaped the blast.
One thing that supports this theory is that Lulusia Kingdom is near Momoiro Island, which is where Kamabakka Kingdom is, which is where Dragon is, so next time we see Sabo he might have already rowed his way over to his team in a dinghy. Or better yet, maybe Vivi’s with him and will drag his anchor ass all the way there.

Manga chapter #1089 "Under Siege" SPOILERS
I decided to re-read this chapter because it is the last chapter I read and honestly reading it there were times that I thought it was the first time
The chapter starts by telling us the effects the dissappearance of Lulusia had in the world, this being a massive earthquake that was felt all over the world and the sea level raising by a meter, sinking island AND NOW THERE IS A HOLE in the sea where Lulusia usted to be and it doesn't seam to be filling it self, so, theory is that what happen to Ennies Lobby? Like it has to be right? Whatever power Im has it is not the first time they use it, and it has to be their power and not Vegapunk machine because people don't remember how ennies lobby used to looked like, it is not "Oh, this is because of one of Vegapunk inventions that was tested and went wrong" NO, people believe Ennies Lobby has always looked like that
Tumblr media
Yes, Kizaru but you are also one of the most powerfull cogs this machine has if you refuse it would take a lot to make you do what you don't want
Tumblr media
So the number indicates the porcentage at which the doom is working
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHAT DO YOU MEAN "SHE IS JUST A LITTLE GIRL"??!!

It's definitely Uranus
Tumblr media
That's a spacecraft that shot the lazers/lightning/whatever that destroyed Lulusia. Uranus fits Im and the world government, and is also believed to be a sky weapon (along with Poseidon of the deep sea, and Pluton of sea level)

Imu You Bastard!: Moral Event Horizon Moment
Tumblr media
This is freaking something out of Dragon Ball Z, especially the scene where Freeza destroys the Saiyans. This really defines Imu as the evil shit head he is which is someone who cares little about human life but whatever he can to maintain his hold on the world no matter the cost. Lives are nothing to him and anything that will get in the way of his power must be obliterated.

How exactly does Im nuking Lulusia work? Like in the short term? I understand that nuking an island gets rid of it and eventually if it’s covered up people will forget it. I would also assume Lulusia is a lesser known island. Someone like Koza from Alabasta might’ve never heard of it. But like, what about people who have family or friends that lived there? Are they just like, oh well Lulusia is gone whatever.

i can’t lie: they did a crazy good job with the setting, animation and tone of the lulusia incident and imu + the gorosei. a very chilling sequence that delivered on the impact.
