hiiii haven’t seen anyone else post this so thought I’d do that!

So this finnish youtuber Jaakko Parkkali made a vlog with another finnish youtuber Arttu Lindeman and a finnish radio- and tv-host Jaajo Linnonmaa, and they met with Sepe and Teukka after the Chicago - Canes game. They appear at 12:32. I’ll translate the short dialogue below.

Jaakko: hey guys, what happens right after the game? Does the media come to the locker room? How quickly are you able to leave?

Sepe: The media comes in right after the game and if the odds are in your favour and you’ve had a good day, you get to answer few questions. Then [you] get the gear off quickly and usually we have a post game work out, then we go to shower and then we come to say hi to you guys.

Teuvo (sarcastically): For me I’ll do a really though post game work out. Get the weighs moving (directly translated he says ”get the iron moving” but idk if you can say that in english :D).

Jaakko: very nice, one’s gotta do work*

Teuvo: Yep, work, work.*

Jaakko: So you’ll leave and go home now and we’ll go out and party.

Teuvo: Absolutely, sounds good.

the site is bugging so badly that I translating the video is quite difficult.

The men are basically pretty hyped to see Sepe and Teuvo and they tell them that too, and that they’re big hockey fans. Teuvo said something about making the game little nervewracking in the end (chicago scored 2 goals in like under a minute) but that it’s more fun for the fans that way. Arttu compliments the boys for a good game and for their outfits. Sepe said something that he’s glad he got a goal but that he had chances for much more. He joked that he skated so much in vain since he didnt score (more than just one). The boys tell that they’re going home next after a weeks road trip and that if there are finns in the crowd, they like to come and say hi after the game.

Duuni is a slang word for work. Kova means literally hard, but it’s often used meaning kinda like cool but it’s not directly that. Sigh. Languages are difficult.

A few hours left to love

There’s this whole ordeal concerning Peeta’s and Katniss’s private sessions with the Gamemakers that pisses off Haymitch and disappoints Effie because they both did something that was distinctly and deliberately defiant. Peeta has silently been giving signals that he rebels in his own way and they’re subtle, he’s careful about it. Yet here, despite it being in private, he put a target on himself and risked his skin just to make the Gamemakers feel responsible for Rue’s death. It wasn’t fair and he noted how upset it made Katniss, even if she said the deaths of the tributes from their deaths were all horrible. Katniss has been refusing to step into this role of being a symbol for rebellion during the first half of the book, but here she is actively being rebellious by hanging a dummy of Seneca Crane and it shows how she is slowly embracing her importance. She also makes herself a big target and it’s funny how both of them were able to impress the Gamemakers by doing something that would really impact them.

“You’d have thought we planned it.” 

Peeta said this to Katniss, but they may have well done so because they both took advantage of their private sessions to tell the Gamemakers they weren’t playing their Game and they weren’t going to take their bullshit. Neither them nor the rest of the districts (even though I’m getting ahead of myself, but foreshadowing is great, ain’t it?). Then, their scores make history. I wonder why no one else had ever earned a score of a 12 before them. It was also a bit of a coincidence that BOTH tributes from District 12 would earn the same high score.

Maybe it was a sign. It makes me wonder who assigns the scores, if all of the Gamemakers agree on the same score or if they vote on a score. Or if the head Gamemaker has the final decision. If it’s the latter, I would imagine Plutarch not only did it to make it seem like these two were the deadliest of the bunch and therefore targets, but also hinting to the tributes that were in on the plan that they needed to protect those two. They were the priority. They were the targets, but they were also the most important to keep an eye on them.  

There’s this moment where Katniss finally understands what Peeta said the night before their first Games, about not wanting to be a piece in their Games. Peeta’s reaction is to laugh (he’s so adorable). He didn’t play the Games the way the Gamemakers wanted him to because he wanted to protect Katniss, he joined the Careers, made her look desirable by saying he had a crush on her, and he was willing to let her kill him so she could go home. Now, it was Katniss who wasn’t going to play the Games the way Snow wanted her to. Now, she was the one that was going to protect Peeta. Peeta was already there since before the Quell was even announced. It takes Katniss time to decide on things, but this one decision she was really adamant about and she finally got what he said. She would keep Peeta alive. That was the opposite of what the Games were about. Be as defiant as possible in your own way.

On another note, Effie and Haymitch cancel the prep for interviews so Katniss and Peeta have the day to themselves, and I love how they take advantage of it. It was a date. It was a cute, sweet date, even if Katniss didn’t state it like that. They had food and they spent all day together. Nobody interrupted them. Peeta played with her hair and Katniss made flower crowns. He sketched her. They played with the force field (that damn force field, giving so much foreshadowing). They watched the sunset. They slip into her room to sleep.

I hate losing objectivity when writing meta, but I just find them sleeping together so CUTE.

“It feels like such a luury, sleeping with Peeta again. I didn’t realize until now how starved I’ve been for human closeness. For the feel of him beside me in the darkness.”

I know there aren’t sexual implications here because Katniss is such a pure bean, but if you take it out of context, you could take that and just turn it into them going at it because why not, they’re going to die, supposedly? Anyways, this is another moment where Katniss’s feelings for Peeta show. She feels so safe with him, she feels warmth and closeness. It’s so important to feel that way when with someone you’re so close to and I find it hard to believe that they would be broken apart. She really did love him. She missed him, too.

I also find this one particular phrase, “how starved I’ve been for human closeness” going hand in hand with the beach scene when she and Peeta kiss, and she thinks “I thought I was something of an expert on hunger, but this is an entirely new kind.” It’s okay to feel turned on, Katniss. I don’t blame you.
