Username Change

We did branding in class today. I already did my artist branding a few years ago, but I redesigned my logo anyway, so I could partake in the excessive. Not a massive change from my old one, just some slight adjustment of the positioning and composition of elements.

Anyway; Blog name change! It's been coming. I did one.... over a year ago, when this blog changed from only Henry Stickmin, to all my creative endeavours (& multiple other fandoms). At the time, I did a poll and people wanted the name to be 'Plantcrazy' inline with my A03. Which, was fine then, but I want to get all my art sites to be consistent and 'Chirpy Creations' is a much better name.

So, this blog, Plantcrazy is going to change to Chirpy Creations. And my other one, Chirpy Creations, is going to change to Chirpy Creations Extra (being where I reblog extra stuff like art & writing resources).

I am going to change my username now, since I don't think the icon change is drastic enough, that everyone watching me is going to stare at this post and go, "Who's this again?". And just in case you are...

I just made this mistake of using my Instagram for a class project, so like... 4 of my classmates and one teacher are following me and its like... do I really want them to know I'm obsessed with this one obscure little fandom, I write novel-lenghted FANFICS in my free time, and I am shipping two of the worst human beings I've ever met in fiction together (, that award goes to you, Harley and Leith. Tho... looking at my posts, it really feels more like Harley and Bruno :P ) and in my other fic I'm writing the cutest couple ever, with their juicy transition from enemies to lovers, as they both kick and scream and activitly don't want the fate I've chosen for them, like the dictator of an author I am?

21 and 22 for Dareth

21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?

My favorite thing to do is having his stance on crazy things being either 'oh god I gotta get out of here, this is insane' and 'oh yeah I've seen this before, this is an easy fix'. In-show he has so many random skills, and I think for how dopey he can be, it's fun to have him surprise others on his approach to a situation.

Something I don't like when I write him is that he can be super embarrassing- not that it's an entirely bad thing. In-show I get second hand embarrassment sometimes when I see how he acts and how he tries to inset himself into every situation. I tried to capture that in one of my fics 'Black Vinyl', but in turn I've made it extremely hard for me to reread for the rewrite, haha!

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?

-looks directly at you- Whatever the dink you did to him in PPT[X], I liked that. Same with 'The Price you Pay'[X], though I can actually pinpoint that. His willingness to do the right things, even at his own detriment, captures a core essence of his character that I feel not all writers for him pick up on.

I also really like how Bee (@/pubbee here on tumblr) writes him as well. I think about the short story series 'Cocktails and Counterfeit Coin'[X] a lot. The approach always feels super 'in his head', which I appreciate.

'Getting the Gig'[X] by Mattecat (@/tippydoorman here on tumblr) is a really nice fic that highlights an 'I know the script until I don't' approach for him which I like.

As for something I don't like... It's hard because I tend not to remember the things I don't like in a fic. I think there's some fics he's written in as the 'guy who needs help'. He's a fool and his ego is huge, but that doesn't make him useless in all circumstances you know? If he had a DnD character sheet, his luck stat would be through the roof, and I wish that was utilized more.

sorry this is random but I’m inspired by your rwrb gif set with the sense & sensibility quote… you know what I love about the rwrb movie? how the script repurposes quotes from the book in places that make sense for the movie. like ellen getting the “the b in lgbtq is not a silent letter” line or a reference to her making a PowerPoint (which imo was enough, we didn’t need to see the ppt) or in the book emails Henry references a sense and sensibility quote talking about their first time in LA and in the movie emails Henry references a different s&s quote in regards to Alex’s imposter syndrome. you can tell that matthew genuinely loves and knows the book deeply and knows how to ADAPT the material for the screen.

yeah, absolutamente. there are a few changes here and there that i don't fully understand (especially taking rafael out and replacing him with miguel - it doesn't bother me but kinda perplexed me lol i'm used to it now though)

but overall imo the movie is a good adaptation because even though some things are different, the heart of the story is the same and honestly for that to feel true within the constraints of a two hour romantic comedy some things have to be changed/moved around and i think most of the changes actually serve the movie very well. if they had made a mini series they could've kept more of the book in, but the movie handled all of the important aspects perfectly imo and i think a lot of the book carries over enough that you can fill gaps with the canon of the book and it still feels honest.

i also have to say, i adore casey as a writer and as a person but they are white. & not latine white. matthew is latino. i'm latine. and the authenticity that matthew (and taylor) brought to alex and his experience as bisexual latino is absolutely phenomenal. the pillow talk between henry and alex where henry says, "i'm learning." is so fucking important and special and necessary, you know? love it.

1. Signs & Symbols The primary sign is the illustrated portrait of “Wendy,” a girl with red pigtails, meant to represent wholesome, home-cooked meals. Her image evokes familiarity and warmth, reinforcing traditional family values. The striped shirt and collar further suggest a nostalgic, old-fashioned diner aesthetic. The hidden word “MOM” subtly embedded in Wendy’s collar acts as a symbolic nod to maternal care and home-style cooking.

2. Colors & Shapes The dominant red color conveys energy, appetite, and urgency—common across fast food branding—while blue adds balance, reliability, and calm. Breaking down of each element in Master Breakdown

Master breakdown 

A master breakdown in media studies is a road map that tells all that can be required in producing a movie or a television program. Some of the aspects that fallback under this category of things such as which scene will be shot, what kind of lighting and sound to use, what costume the actors will put on and how to tell the story among others. It assists acting crew and directors to remain professional in a way that they know what to do in the process of filming. It divides the project into sections so that nothing goes wrong or a hitch occurs in the overall efficiency.

There are total of 18 sections:

Series no - To keep track of each shot and make it in organized manner.

Scene no - Identifies the specific scenes of the script.

Effect(INT/EXT) - Shows whether the scene is externally shot(Indoor) or internally shot(Outdoor).

Time (DAY/NIGHT) - Specifies that if the scenes are taking place at day or night.

Location and sub location

Location - The general place that the scene is going to shoot.

Sub location - Specific area under there main location.

Artist - Actors present for the scene.

Description - An brief overview of the scene.

Set design - The overall look about what things should be placed including furniture, background elements and the atmosphere.

Props - The object that the actor will use.

Costume - The dress up of the actor needed for the particular scene.

Costume continuity - Check that the costume is same between the scenes.

Make up + Hair - How will the character's hair and makeup should look.

Animal - Animals name if required for the scene.

Vehicle - Any vehicle used

VFX - Notes of the computer generated effects or green screen used.

Production - Any specific equipment like camera types, lenses and other things.

Shoot location - The real world location where it will be shot.

Notes/Remarks - Additional information or instruction for the team.

So here we had made the format about what all things are present in master breakdown and for better understanding we tried to give as examples while discussing the elements.

From the 5th slide we would be talking all about the character like who is the main character as mentioned on slide no. 5 Primary characters - we will explain about the role, description about the character and the character's emotions. Then, we will talk about the supporting actors, secondary character and tertiary character. The same way as done for the primary. This will take minimum 5 - 6 slides.

Furthermore, on the next slides we will talk about the characters sketch, character arc, costume of the character providing images for reference like how it would look, cast that u have proposed for the role and WARDROBE. These slides would be only for Primary characters. It could be covered up by 9 slides but need to put reference images.

Producer's PPT

There are common slides like one liner, synopsis, and USP. One linear is giving one line description of the story. Synopsis is a short summary which explains the story. USP is how it is different from the other films like some unique points.

Next slides for the producer's ppt are of film characters who are the casts and whom all we have proposed.

Then, there would be all the budget related things about pre-production, production and post production. Additionally, all the other slides are about marketing, promotions, exhibition and sponsors.

Each producer’s and actor’s presentation contributes to the film and media. The two presentations tell different messages, but they both reflect the project in its most important aspects. 

A producer’s presentation is a high-level overview of a project’s requirements, opportunities, forecasts, and financial profitability. 

Everything in this presentation is about the concept, budget, schedule, team, and letting everyone know how much the film is going to cost. It is all about making sure the pieces of the project are well planned out so that the production can proceed without any major issues. The presentation outlines who the audience might be, as well as what the goals of the film may be. A producer’s presentation includes everything a potential moviegoer might need to know about watching the film, such as how to get it, and what options will be available. An actor's presentation is the exact opposite. 

A presentation by an actor is going to be only about the character in the story. It is all about the script and conforms the actor thinks it’ll take to play the character role.

Curious Questions [PPT/ Locked In AU]

I just made the coolest Harley & Bruno illustration ever (, like the ones I do for my Lost Children chapter covers). It's about 95% done now, I just got the final checks in the morning, when I'm more awake, before upload + the whole spiel I want to type out to go with it :P

I just keep thinking about my Locked In comic, and how I WISH I had more time to work on it (I'm struggling to keep on top of my uni work as it is >>), and I really want to get this story out into the world, but my script keeps getting bigger and bigger (, which isn't a bad thing. I guess I'm just a bit impatient about wanting to share it, cause I'm proud of it. There's a lot of good stuff in there I want to share. That's what I love about art & story writing, it's being able to share the stories in my head with others ^^).

But um...

I want to do a comic, it's a fun visual way to tell a story, and get it out in front of a LOT of people. Like, my little sister showed my Lost Children fic to her friends, and they said it sounded great, and they'd read it... if it was a comic.

I want to grow my following a bit, so I can do commissions and freelance work (that's my goal for when I graduate uni next year). But it's a little hard with a following barely into the triple digits (, my own fault for only drawing stuff from fandoms I'm interested in, which until poppy, were tiny, tiny fandoms or... (again, nothing wrong with that. Being in the Henry Stickmin fandom is a luxury after coming from FNaF/Undertale, it's just... hard to make a meaningful following, you know?).

Like, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for all 135 of you, but it's taken 5 years to get here. I know it's not good to observer over numbers and followers, and I'm trying not to, but... I have to be doing something wrong, right?

ANYWAY, getting sidetracked listening to anxiety in my head, lol (I'll go get her a cup of calming tea and a book :P)

I'm also concerned on the logistics of comicing a lot of the scenes coming up, traditionally, OR digitally. This sort of thing could be a small nightmare because it's on par with sign language (and there's a reason people don't comic that in bulk):

For a while it doesn’t look like this is going to work [page of Harley not reacting + see scientist expressions dipping into disappointment/defeat], then slowly, Harley taps each of the wooden letters, spelling ‘DrMoff’, and points at him.

The second half of Chapter one I'm working on has a whole section of body language communication like this, and laugh with me, I'm intimidated by it :P

Like... how badly do you guys want a comic? Would a fic with multiple illustrations work instead? Or do I just worry too much? I know my little sister suggesting just comicing the first chapter to get people hooked, but I don't know, I feel like that's pisses the reader off, to go from a visual medium to one that requires them to put effort in to read words.

Planning to put together a ppt and meet my advisor today, let’s see how that pans out. I have been anxious about it and have been procrastinating it for a while now.

Hopefully I make it through today and am productive.

Just reading a paper right now to finesse my question of purpose.

Day 10/100- Nov 23- Wed

Half the week is over and I feel lazy and useless… gosh damn it.

I didn’t feel like doing anything today but still made myself come to my lab for the microscopy time I booked since it’s super crowded and I can’t try to change timings or make it up later…

I’m hoping to go back home and just finish some of my tasks for my courses. Today. I have to work it.

My avengers travel mug is keeping me sane with caffeine for now….

Day 17/100- Dec 2- Fri

Why is time moving this fast?

I didn’t get much done in terms of studying today but got much lab work done, setup for the genetic crosses for the week and made sure I did all I can so I can stay home guilt free tomorrow and go in on Sunday instead.

Even took time to go see my prof today and phew, I can see a tonne of work brewing up for this weekend!

The trick I need to master here is to hit the bed right now and make sure I wake up at a normal morning time tomo, eat healthy and NOT be intimidated by the lots of tasks… just gotta… bunch it all up into smaller tasks and get going and finish it!!

Just trying to get the courage to work smart and hard in the next few days, but I will be fine. I have to!!

My #1 post of 2022

Hey I found the #studychallengewithcleo by @that-premed-student and decided to go for it!

Today I’m continuing to work on my Thesis committee meeting presentation right now. Been at it since morning and I’m sure I crossed the 6 hour mark a while back haha

I’m definitely taking breaks in between, and eating food and drinking water/beverages (do be kind to yourself and take care of yourself even if you are stressed)

So currently my work for today is:

Finish analysing my final dataset

Include those graphs on my ppt

Finish including all the info from the tagged papers on my ppt

Make a script and read it 3-5 times before retiring for the night

And ofc overthinking and writing down any Qs I could be asked in that meeting tomorrow and looking up and keeping track of those answers separately.

I think my list is doable… I am hoping my presentation tomorrow goes amazingly well and my committee members greenlit me for my final semester without any issues.

Research and Planning For Our Trailers: Part 9- Producer’s PPT

intense plot To make our pre-production, research and planning easier like last year we had to make a Producer’s PPT.  This includes the summary, synopsis, unique selling point (USP), colour palettes and target audience of the film. 

We first had to write a short synopsis of our story. In screenwriting, a movie synopsis is a brief summary of a completed screenplay's core concept, major plot points, and main character arcs. A screenwriter primarily writes a script synopsis as a selling tool to convince film industry higher-ups to read the full screenplay. A film synopsis is also called a "one-pager" because it's ideally a single page long.

We then had to write a brief summary of the film. It summarizes the plot of of the film without giving too much of the storyline away. We made our summary brief and suspenseful making the audience want to watch the film.

Next we had to write a catchy one liner for our film story. A one liner explains the film in one sentence. Our liner explains the entire plot of the film and gives a hint as well.

We then had to write what our films unique selling point (USP) is. Unique selling point is what will set your film project apart and make it stand out from all your competitors. Our films USP is that it is an exciting plot with a killer reveal like no other, which is all four best friends killing Suhana.

After that we had to write what social groups or issues are highlighted in our film. Our social group that we have represented in our story is Indians as the story takes place in Mumbai. We show Indian students out of their stereotype. Each character is from a different religion as well. For instance, Isha is Punjabi. In our film our main issues we have highlighted are cyber-bullying. This is shown when Suhana bullies Isha on social media. The second is school bullying, this is shown when Suhana bullies Varun in middle school. The third is sexual assault. This is shown when Sushant forces himself on a younger girl at a party.

We then moved onto characters. We had to divide our characters into primary, secondary and tertiary. Primary characters are your main players in the story. They might be your protagonist and villain, but your primary characters may be your whole cast if you're writing from multiple points of view. These are the characters your story revolves around in. So in our film story our primary characters are Suhana (victim), Isha, Naisha, Varun and Sushant. They are the characters that our film story revolves around. Secondary characters are not the main focus in the story but instead support the protagonist in to ultimately help them achieve their goal, have a transformation, or move the story forward. In our film story the secondary characters are the detective and Rahul. They help move the story forward. Tertiary characters are the third most important characters in a story. They pop up in one or two scenes and say one or two lines. In our film we do not have any tertiary characters.

Next we had to make our films colour palette.  The colour palette of a film is a subtle way to visually enhance the emotional aspects of a film and guide the viewer to respond to it on a visceral level. Understanding the basic components of colour, warm colours and cool colours, as well as how the audience responds to these colours is essential. Since our film takes place in the fall season and during Halloween time, we decided to have warmer tones. Such as, deep orange, beige, amber and ruby red. However, after the murder takes place, the film will shift into a slightly cooler tone with warm tones mixed. The cool tone (deep purple and blue) symbolises the mystery feeling and the warm tones (deep red and orange)  symbolise the anger, hatred and revenge feeling.

Then we had to research what our locations were going to look like. Since most of the scenes take place in a private school, we decided we needed the location to look like a fancy huge private school. Our locations needed are the classroom, the school staircase, the stairs, auditorium and so on. We also have a few bedroom scenes.

Then we moved onto promotional brands. Product placement is the promotion of branded goods and services within the context of a show or movie rather than as an explicit advertisement. Since our film takes place during Halloween and the film release date is Halloween, we decided that to choose the brands, ‘Hershey’  and ‘Oreo’. This way in the film we can have shots of the characters collecting or eating these brands brands sweets during the Halloween party scenes. The other brand we chose is ‘Mac’. This is because we have three main girl characters in our film who are going have some make up on. In the film we can have shots of the girls applying make up using Mac cosmetics. The other brand we chose is ‘Doms’. This is a stationary brand based in India. As the film takes place in a school in Mumbai, we thought having shots of the characters using Doms stationary. The last brand we chose is ‘Zara’. Since our main characters wear fashionable clothing and are well dressed. We decided to have them wear Zara clothing. This clothing brand is also popular teenagers and young adults.

This year we also had to create our own branding and merchandise for the film. For our film we decided to have merchandise.  Movie merchandising – products and commodities based on a movie's theme, character, location, etc, is a tool meant to promote a film. So in our film we decided to have our own stationary items, clothing, Halloween candy and trinkets. This will help promote the film.

The last thing that we needed to do is Exhibition. Film exhibition refers to public screening of a film and involves the ownership, management, and running of movie theatres. Our film is going to be released in theatres so we had to think of which theatres we wanted our film to be for public screening. the first obvious option was  PVR Cinemas (Priya Village Roadshow) which is a movie theatre chain in India with its headquarter located in Gurgaon. It is one of the biggest movie theatre company in India. Having our movie release in this theatre would attract multiple movie watchers to go see our film. The second movie theatre we chose is Inox.  INOX Leisure or INOX Movies is an Indian movie theatre chain. As of March 2022, it has 161 multiplexes and 681 screens in 72 cities of the country. Therefore we thought it would be another great place to release our film. The last place we chose is Cinepolis.  It is a spacious & modern multiplex featuring many restaurants, reclining chairs & 3D screenings. It is also a bit cheaper compared to the other two. Thus, making the tickets for our film more affordable for certain people. The last thing we had to do is decide the streaming partners. which means that where the movie will be available after it is out of theatres. Before streaming platforms, people had DVD’s and watched the movies at home. Now all movies come directly on streaming platforms or after they out of theatres. Due to the pandemic a lot of films had to be released on a streaming platform instead of a theatre release and many movies did not do great in theatres as no one came to watch them (because of covid). To make more profits they had to eventually put their film on an OTT platform so that they got more views. As a team we had to think carefully about which streaming platform we wanted our film to be on after it is out of theatres. The first one we chose is ‘Netflix’.  Netflix, Inc. is an American subscription streaming service and production company. It offers a film and television series library through distribution deals as well as its own productions, known as Netflix Originals. Most people watch Netflix on a daily basis so we thought it was the best place to stream our film. The problem is that Netflix is not that popular in India as compared to other streaming platforms. Our film takes place in India and the family is Christian and lives in India. But we chose Netflix because abroad most people watch Netflix and this will help attract audiences from all around the world to see our film if it streams on Netflix. To attract the Indian audience we wanted to stream our movie on Disney+ Hotstar as most of India watches content on this platform. Therefore, they are more likely stream our film.

Day 5/31 ; Do you believe time heals all wounds? Uh... this is a hard question for me? I tend not to think about the past much, so the further an experience is in the past, the less important it is to me, so I suppose yes. But I'm sure there are situations I'm lucky enough to have not experienced yet that time doesn't heal, like grief or disease. It just dulls them down. I'm not sure...

I'm gonna presenting my project task within a few hours. I spent weeks to write it. I'm a bit nervous. I'm not worry to talk about it (a bit yeah, but that's not the point right now), I rather worry that it is nearly thirty pages, it's my child - but how could I speak about it in less than ten minutes? (Now I understand the authors, they spend years to create something than it is made in a one'n'half hour long movie. Clearly it is not giving back the whole exactly as it should.) Seriously, I had to skip a whole chapter to fit in time. I presented stuffs earlier (once I had to make a case study about an imagined steel-related corporation), but it's really killing me now... like there is a character with backstories, hopes, dreams, character developing, love interest, child, walk of life, etc and you just allowed to say "It's Ted". Anyways, I really proud of my ppt (it's nothing much, but simply well-structured on a really minimalist way), and I wrote a script what to mention but gee... it's really not giving back the whole suffering. I mean there are parts what are explained from the beginning to the end and with a conclusion to close and then now... there is just the conclusion. I see the commitee is working on that field but it's just murdering. I learned mathematics (I almost had a degree in that, but that's an other story), the used-to way was to let the explanation to the pupils ("it's trivial"), so now it's like giving a sentence about a law and then when you are asked "why and when", you just "accept it". I don't know what I feel right now is natural, but I just can't take it sorry. They are killing my baby and it really hurts. I know it's summarizing, but... I'm mourning right now (instead of panicking - funny).
