Second Legacy Household Introduction: Kiayo Goth and the Kim-Goths Family

Backstory ⋆˙⟡

The current heir of the second branch of Astrea LeBlanc's legacy family, Kiayo Goth. One of his mothers, Yuna Ito-LeBlanc (Goth) was Astrea LeBlanc's third and youngest child. is second mother, Kassidy Goth, is a direct descendent of the infamous Goth family of Willow Creek. He grew up in a small apartment in San Myshuno. Unbenownst to Kiayo money was quite tight, so Yuna took to adult streaming while her child was asleep to make ends meet. Kassidy was a lazy yet aspiring author and coder, not really helping out with the family's finances either. When Kiayo was a teen, his parents got divorced. After he left for college his mother began and soon married professional housewife Mae Inoue-Goth. After highschool Kiayo got recruited to play D1 soccer at Foxbury Institute while also studying engineering. Unfortunately after his freshman year Kiayo dropped out (primarily due to me hating uni gameplay from the pack) and moved back home. Kiayo and Mae got along just fine, often baking sweets together, much to his biological mother's delight. Soon after Kiyao got recruited to play soccer professionally, where he eventually rising to MVP status. At some point in adulthood while still living at home Kiyao met his future husband Seo Kim-goth, and after an extended period dating, the two got married and had one child via surrogate. The couple moved to Mt. Komorebi, Seo Hyun's home world, to raise their child in a gorgeous townhouse on the bottom of the mountain. His husband Seo Hyun Kim-Goth is a semi-famous internet streamer who often works during the early hours of the day, leaving him at home to take care of their son while Kiayo is off at games around the world. Their son Kai came out looking like the spitting image of Seo Hyun, with homophobia heterocromia in his eyes. Kai recently aged up to a young adult, so who knows what our young heir will do next...

How Eurovision 2023 Should Have Ended

Well, not quite. I just really want to talk about my favourites.

Because I've been a bit obsessed. This was the first Eurovision I actually watched. I didn't think this would be something for me, but as it turns out - I was wrong! There were so many amazing songs, iconic performance, etc.

The thing is, after re-watching and re-listening a lot of 2023 ESC, I realised that none of MY top 5 actually reached top 5. So that's what I want to share with you today.

But first - honorable mentions (actually turning this top 5 into a top 10)!

10. Lord of the Lost (Germany) - Blood & Glitter

Budget Rammstein is still some amount of Rammstein. These dudes just seem really nice.

9. Mae Muller (UK) - I Wrote a Song

Was she out of breath? Definitely. But still... The song is really catchy and the visual presentation was incredible. Didn't deserve the last place for sure.

8. Loreen (Sweden) - Tattoo

Basically everyone and their mum pointed out already how convenient it is for Eurovision to come back to Sweden for the ABBA anniversary... Still, Loreen has a beautiful voice and this was a solid song.

7. Käärijä (Finland) - Cha Cha Cha

Cha, Cha Cha, Cha Cha Cha Cha!

6. Alessandra (Norway) - Queen of Kings

She was a favourite of a friend of mine and I can really see why. Strong, beautiful voice. Powerful song. Nice performance.

And now, finally, my top 5!

5. Voyager (Australia) - Promise

I... really like this. At a glance this seems like a mix of generic synthpop and genric rock, but that crescendo! It feels so optimistic, so nice and fun. I have no idea why but this song just always puts a big, stupid smile on my face.

4. La Zarra (France) - Évidemment

I feel like instead of bringing generic popsongs, it's always better when Eurovision contestants bring something that feels specifically "of their nation". This is definitely a great example of that. Gotta love La Zarra's voice and presence. She's incredible.

3. Teya & Salena (Austria) - Who The Hell Is Edgar?

This is actually my favourite song of the whole competition. I've listened to it so goddamn much in the past few weeks. Also, I'm in love with Teya. And possibly Salena. They are amazing, incredible, and just overall iconic.

Just the creativity of taking a name of one of the most famous writers on the planet and turning it into... a beat? It's a song about getting possesed by the ghost of Edgar Allan Poe, but also about up-and-coming female song writers getting nothing for their work. I love Teya and Salena and I love this goddamn song.

Oh mio padre, there's a ghost in my body!

But, when we're talking performances, there are two that I would rate even higher than that...

2. Pasha Parfeni (Moldova) - Soarele şi Luna

This was where my vote went. I'm not even that into the song, but the performance is... well, spellbinding, really. I don't even know how to explain it. It's really the combination of both that works for me so well, I think.

And finally, my number 1...

Vesna (Czech Republic) - My Sister's Crown

Yeah, they're from my country.

But I genuinely thought they were incredible! An awesome, cool song mixing modern pop with folk music. An amazing, complex choreography. Singing in four languages!

And that's not even taking in account the messaging of the piece. Not just the call for female empowerement. But also the radical, pan-slavic yet anti-russian sentiment. And also - the hands! Specifically, the SOS sign that they are doing. Everything here has layers to peel off.

This was overall an incredible song and performance. Vesna is brilliant. It's a crime they didn't make it ito the actual top 5.

nagpakain ng doggos sa ITDI area.

its been a year since me and Mae started magpakain ng dogs sa DENR part ng DOST compound; doon kasi ang daan namin papasok at pauwi ng apartment. after Mae left, nataon din na nag close yung gate don so may isang plastic pa ako ng dog food na hindi napapakain. for some reason hindi na rin napapadpad around FNRI bldg. yung DENR dogs.

nung week na ito nagpainit si Kar ng motor and naisipan namin mag stroll kaya nadiscover namin na ang daming dogs sa bandang new buildings ng ITDI. ayon, bumalik muna kami nyan ng office at kinuha yung dog food para magpakain.

"At long last, the time has come for you to collect our next group of Unfortunates. Now, please tell me you remember who they are this time…"

Lachesis' casual demeanor disappeared immediately, replaced with a nervous expression as he wracked his brain.

"How many times do I need to drill it into your head before you get it, you ingrate?!"

Lachesis jumped back in shock at his boss' sudden shouting, only relaxing a little as Atropos let out a deep sigh.

"Okay then, one last time. Our Unfortunates are…"

"Now, Lachesis, you are not to mess this up again. Forget even one person and you will never see the outside of this tower ever again. Do you understand?"

OPINION: Sagot o Salot: National Citizen’s Service Training

NCST o National Citizen’s Service Training. Ika-16 ng Disyembre nang nakaraang taon, naipasa na sa ikatlong pagbasa ang kontrobersyal na bill na naglalayong palitan ang kasalukuyang National Service Training Program o NSTP. Ngunit, ano nga ba ang NCST, at bakit ito tila minamadaling maisabatas ng kamara? Karapat-dapat bang ipalit ito sa NSTP? Ano ang maaaring maging papel nito sa pag-unlad ng mga kabataan, at pag-unlad ba ang maidudulot nito?

Ano ba ang pagkakaiba ng NSTP at NCST? Isinasaad sa Section 13 at 14 ng bill na ang mga graduate ng naturang programa ay ikokonsidera nang nagtapos ng mandatory military training sa ilalim ng Republic Act 7077, o ang Citizen Armed Forces of the Philippines Reservist Act, at ituturing nang reservist ng Armed Forces of the Philippines o AFP. Ayon din sa Section 2 ng House Bill 6687, layunin ng NCST na i-incorporate ang kabataan sa Citizen’s Armed Forces. Kung susuriing maigi, mapapansin natin na ang NCST ay hindi nalalayo sa Reserve Officers Training Corps o ROTC dahil sa militaristiko nitong kalikasan, ngunit ito ay mas “watered down” kumpara sa ROTC. Kaiba ang mga ito sa NSTP na mas nakatuon sa community development at humanitarian work. Nililinang ng NSTP ang makabayang pag-iisip sa pamamagitan ng literacy training at civic welfare training, na mas mainam para sa kasalukuyang sitwasyon ng bansa kung saan higit na kinakailangan ang pagpapaunlad ng lipunan at pag-empower sa mga mamamayan. Higit na kinakailangan din ang literacy training dahil sa laganap na disinformation sa panahon ngayon.

Nakababagabag ang bill na ito dahil nanganganib din ang kapakanang pangkalusugan ng kabataan. Nitong buwan ng Pebrero, naging maingay ang pahayag ni Department of National Defense (DND) Officer-in Charge Carlito Galvez Jr. sa isang hearing sa senado. Ayon sa kanya, makatutulong ang ROTC at NCST upang pagtibayin ang resilience at strength of character ng isang indibidwal. Mapapalabas daw nito ang survival instinct ng isang indibidwal nang sa gayon ay tumataas ang kanyang tolerance sa frustration at kalauna’y gagaling ang kanyang mental problems. Kaiba ito sa NSTP kung saan maisasapuso ng indibidwal ang experience training. Ano ang basehan ni Galvez sa mga pahayag na ito? Wala siyang ibinigay na mga kongkretong ebidensya at suporta mula sa mga eksperto ng medisina at sikolohiya. Sa katunayan, taliwas ito sa mga sinasabi ng mga eksperto. Ayon sa mental health advocate na si Dr. Gia Sison, ang pilit na pag-iimplementa ng ROTC o NCST ay mas nakapipinsala sa mental health ng isang indibidwal. Dagdag pa ni Dr. Dinah Nadera, isang psychiatrist, ang pagpapataas sa frustration tolerance ay hindi palaging nakabubuti para sa isang indibidwal. Sinabi naman ni Dr. Joan Mae Rifareal ng Philippine Psychiatric Association na hindi nangangahulugang "magagamot" ng mga programang ito ang mga problema sa mental health, ngunit maaari itong magsilbing "isang outlet para sa mga frustrations na posibleng mayroon ang mga mag-aaral sa iba't ibang aspeto ng buhay na kinabibilangan nila." Ito ang rason kung bakit mas mainam na bigyan natin ng kakayahang pumili ang mga mag-aaral kung lalahok ba sila sa programang ito o hindi.

Maaalala na noong 2001, pinaslang ang isang college student mula sa University of Santo Tomas (UST) na si Mark Welson Chua dahil sa pagbulgar niya sa mga nangyayaring korapsyon at panunuhol sa loob ng ROTC. Siya ay parte ng intelligence monitoring team ng kanilang unit, at natuklasan niya ang malawakang korapsyon sa mga nakakataas sa ROTC, na kaniyang isiniwalat sa “The Varsitarian”, ang opisyal na student publication ng UST. Noong sumunod na taon, ginawa nang opsiyonal ang ROTC sa pagsasabatas ng Republic Act 9163 at inilunsad ang NSTP. Mula sa nangyari kay Chua, kitang-kita ang posibilidad na maging mapang-abuso at marahas ang programa sa mga estudyanteng sasailalim dito.

Maraming pang isyu ang kinahaharap ngayon ng sektor ng edukasyon na mas nangangailangan ng agarang atensyon at solusyon mula sa pamahalaan. Una, hindi sapat ang benepisyong ibinibigay sa mga guro, maging ang kanilang natatanggap na sweldo, sa kabila ng sobra-sobrang ibinibigay sa kanilang trabaho. Pangalawa, lumalala rin ang nangyayaring pagrerebisa sa kasaysayan sa mga modyul at teksbuk ng mga mag-aaral. Isang halimbawa nito ay ang pagpapalit-tawag sa panahon ng Martial Law bilang “New Society” o “Bagong Lipunan,” ang pangalan ng programang ginamit bilang propaganda noong rehimeng Marcos, sa mga teksbuk na inilimbag ng Departamento ng Edukasyon (DepEd). Ito ay isang halimbawa ng historical denialism sa mga teksbuk at modyul ng mga mag-aaral. Pangatlo, marami pang mga paaralan sa bansa ang nangangailangan ng pagkukumpuni, pag-maintain, at muling pagpapatayo. Ayon sa pinakahuling datos ng DepEd, 104,536 lamang mula sa 327,851 na paaralan sa bansa ang nasa magandang kondisyon. Ito ang mas kailangan ng sistemang pang-edukasyon, hindi ang mandatory ROTC o NCST.

Tumungo naman tayo sa maaaring pangmatagalang resulta ng programang ito. Kung babalikan natin ang ating kasaysayan, ginamit ng mga Amerikano ang edukasyon upang lusawin ang makabayang pag-iisip pagkatapos ng rebolusyon laban sa mga Espanyol. Sa kasamaang palad, tayo ay hindi pa tuluyang gumagaling mula sa sakit na ito sa ating lipunan, at isa itong ebidensya kung gaano kadali makontrol ang sambayanan gamit ito. Ang sistemang pang-edukasyon ay isa nga namang napakamakapangyarihang medyum upang manipulahin ang mga kinabukasan at kamalayan ng bayan. Mahihinuha na tila nais nitong pairalin ang pekeng “nasyonalismo” kung saan nagiging sunud-sunuran lamang ang mga mamamayan sa pamahalaan gamit ang mga militaristikong indoktrinasyon. Ito ay maaari ring maging tulay para sa paglilinang ng mapang-abusong sistema.

Kung nasyonalismo nga ang hangarin ng pamahalaan, tuturuan nila ang kabataan na mag-isip nang kritikal at malaya, sa halip na ipilit ang isang programang may potensyal na maging mapang-abuso, dahil hindi sinasanto ng tunay na nasyonalismo ang katiwalian. Ang tunay na nasyonalismo ay ang pagpapaunlad ng lipunan nang pangmatagalan.
