Can’t read a single parva of the Mahabarat without नारायणं नमस्कृत्य नरं चैव नरोत्तमम् and somehow these people think it’s okay to slander my prince 😭

Okay so I need to quickly say something about the Kalki movie's thing regarding Arjun vs Karna.
In its defense, I feel like since Ashwatthama was the one who narrated the story, obviously he picked his friend's side, and said that he was more powerful than Arjun. It'd simply make sense from his perspective. Calling Arjun more powerful when we all know he and Duryodhan especially thought the exact opposite till forever, would be pretty unrealistic tbh.
Nahhh not exactly.... Because in the Mahabharata Ashwa was not exactly Karna's friend.... They were not very friendly 💀 lmao...
I mean there are instances where Ashwatthama called bullshit on Karna for bragging about how he was better than Arjun
My personal favourite right here, when Ashwa went boom after Karna had insulted Drona (sorry for so much of highlighting I like to do that a lot T_T)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I especially like the part where he called Karna unmanly for bragging lmao... My boy was even praising Arjun infront of Karna.
So imo it was pretty unrealistic to show Ashwatthama praising Karna so much...
Am I saying they couldn't have ahown that scene? No ofcourse not. They could have definitely shown Ashwatthama praising someone other than Arjun
But did it had to be Karna? NO DUCKING WAY 💀
Also this post is for all the Karna simps. Cry about it your hero is not so great. Ashwatthama agrees.

Karna in media depictions: Innocent guy abandoned by his birth mom, living to prove himself to be the best archer, sweet sweet traumatised man, 'Sut putr' (<- sarthi putra derogatory)
Karna in Mahabharat: egotistical bastard who was always jealous of Arjun, provoked Duryodhan into crimes, 'Sut putr' (<- son of a mix jati), criminal behaviour put him in jail.

Dari balik perut ibunya, Abimanyu menyerap semua ilmu soal bagaimana caranya menembus pertahanan musuh. Iya, semua……

HSR x Fate UBW coming in Q3 2025 !
(I write these in mind for anyone doesn't know Fate series at all)
Tumblr media
For now it's unknown will it come with stories or just skin or full pack with playable UBW character
Not long ago HSR had interview with FGO team, the magazine only release their Q&A but considering both side love each other project, these collab shouldn't really suprising. If there's suprising fact is why only UBW not FGO directly ? Since there is no info about collab details, let's make some analysis for now :
FGO especially Fate series is really big world ! If you need comparasion, it's not only Honkai Impact world but all Hoyoverse become one and you need to know at least a bit of each title to make sense about Fate series !
Continuing point above, which is the reason they gave us years for this collab ! Their developer consider years should be enough for player to quick read most Fate series franchise (lol)
Fate as whole already into their 20 years old now so it's kinda impossible for anyone to learn that series from start (even I only know fifty percent of it). So to make it simple, they just pick their well known franchise but not making players too confused about their world building which is Fate Stay Night. UBW is decent choice considering what's happened with other two.
If anyone need comparasion, UBW kinda like GGZ in term of popularity and reminiscing (lol) while FGO kinda like former Genshin in term of popularity.
I kinda saw FGO pretty desperate nowdays or maybe they're already out of idea to promote Fate series onward. For anyone doesn't know, FGO was the king of mobile gacha games but after Genshin release their revenue drop sharply and with more Chinese gacha games out lately, you can say now it's their lowest situations so to be honest Fate series feels like gonna dying sooner or later which is this collab came.
I can say for sure that this collab came from HSR side since those otaku ops growth like now while watching/reading Fate series (lol) so I think there's no way HSR or even Fate team will slack off especially for storytelling since it's Fate main selling (if there's one for collab later lol)
Onto collab prediction since it's specifically UBW, means the main character is either Rin or/and Emiya. Maybe anyone still not read questionable leaks but there's info this collab need two version to finish means there's at least four and max six new character avaliable later. Considering UBW stories, I can think of Saber and Gilgamesh or maybe Kirei can join the roaster too.
Now for everyone who doesn't know Fate series and need pointer for later collab, first please watch Fate Stay Night, it have three titles with same story premise but different PoV with different ending (Fate Stay Night 24 episode -> Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works 1 movie -> Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel 3 parts movie). Next it's Fate Stay Night prologue, Fate Zero 24 episode and you're good to breakthrough the collab only.
Sounds simple right, which is the reason they choose Unlimited Blade Works for collab. If FGO, you could swarm yourself with 9 years FGO lore materials + other works with and without "Fate" titles on it (lol)
#honkai star rail#fate grand order#fate stay night#unlimited blade works#if you asked me am I happy with this collab ?#the answer either yes and no#yes means hsr could learn from fgo storytelling (then again if the collab have story)#I once said that fgo have a best story and its much better than genshin hsr#yups since fgo storywriter kinoko nasu there (lol)#so yeah I more excited with nasu will write the story or not#no means since it's ubw#eh even it's different francise too I still can't excited#fate series mc aren't that appealing (lol)#even with different mc in the end it's saber again#anyways once nasu wrote one story worth of standalone franchise and it's still in fgo hall of fame (yups lb 6)#anyone read lb6 should know their godlike story...#it's masterpiece#if fate still famous I think lb6 should deserve an anime#nasu storywriting is what people called (at least) awesome to perfect#while genshin and hsr still soft on conclusion parts especially hsr#what the hell with 2.3 !?#still better than luofu but it still soft#but 2.3 makes me lower overall penacony rating#it's like you enjoy a full course but the dessert feels too sweet for overall dish#the course feels good but the last part kinda destroy your overall enjoyment (lol)#and what makes fate interesting is they write historical people pretty near the actual one#aside it's genderbender and white of course#you wanna know arthurian legend ? just read fgo saber and all her retainers profile (lol)#or shinsengumi ? they have some people too#or indian mahabarata

Later today my friends and are (at my behest) watching more Wheel of Time. Tomorrow me and those same friends will be watching Jujutsu Kaisen.
This is, I think, what the kids call a cultural exchange.

honestly I was pretty neutral on Arjuna (I don’t tend to perceive men I’m very sorry 😞) but he’s my partner’s blorbo so I ended up learning more about him and realized ‘oh, he’s an Emiya’ and now he’s my baby girl. in revenge I showed that Emiya is an Arjuna and now Cake froths about him too.

I also wanted to recommend something for the Hindu Mythelogy thing.
You should read this book called The Palace of Illusions. It's a retelling of The Mahabharata from Draupadi's perspective and it's incredibly fascinating.
This got lost in my ask box! Thank you for sharing 💙

Mahabharat tumblr what do we think about Arjun’s breakdown post Drona’s death?
For those who don’t know: when Krishna suggests the double cross of killing Ashwatthama the elephant, Arjun point blank refuses to cooperate. After Yudhishtir speaks the dooming lie, Drona has a breakdown, almost destroys the universe, feels terrible about it and then drops all his weapons at which point he’s beheaded by Dhrishtadyumna, much to Arjun’s protest.
After this Arjun rails against Yudhishtir and Dhrishtadyumna which is about the only time the high command of the Pandava army are all at odds with one another (usually the status quo of the Kaurava army where everyone mindlessly hates each other, the Pandavas however were always a unit). Arjun’s emotions are all over the place throughout the war but it comes out most prominently over here. Arjun believes the rules shouldn’t have been broken. Dhrishtadyumna believes the ends justify the means in a war like the Kurukshetra, especially after Abhimanyu.
It’s one of the great debates on war ethics, especially from the tongue of Vibhatsu himself. Was Arjun right for this or nay?

TIL: Rukmi didn't participate in the war. (Devi Rukmini's brother who tried to stop her from eloping with Krishna and was defeated by Krishna).
Unlike the others who didn't want to pick amongst students (Balrama), weren't mentioned as warriors (Vidur) or were a bride price of a putrika (Babruvahan)— Rukmi was literally 'Nah bro'-ed on both sides.
Rukmi obviously went to the Pandav side first and boasted, saying they'd surely win if he was with them. Arjun literally laughed it off (slay queen) and turned him down.
Then he went to the Kaurav side to flaunt. Duryodhan wasn't impressed, outright refused to enlist him on his side, and that made him go back to Vidarbha.

weeee happy birthday to gustav holst!
in celebration of the 145th birthday of the "composer of more than just the planets" (as he sometimes referred to himself), i am going to provide A Handy List For People Who'd Like To List To Pieces By Holst Many Of Which Are Influenced By The Rich Tradition Of English Folksong And Have Beautiful Lush Orchestrations And Pleasant Tunes But Nobody Knows Much About Them Because They Are Not The Planets
Suites 1 and 2 in Eb and F for Band: (okay some people do know about this one) i personally believe that these were holst's most influential pieces; they are staples of even the modern band repertoire (i myself have performed both of them). holst often had difficulty writing in larger forms (he tended to avoid symphonies, for instance; the only "symphony" he published was the Cotswolds Symphony) but he certainly was a master of smaller movements where the focus is more on harmonic and rhythmic development and less on textural and melodic development the recordings i would recommend are those by Eugene Migliaro Corporon and the North Texas Wind Symphony
Ode To Death: this ≈13 minute long work for chorus and orchestra is just deep and beautiful and works well when paired with his Hymn to Jesus. the text is by walt whitman. i would recommend the recording by Richard Hickox, the City of London Sinfonia, and the London Symphony Chorus
Beni Mora: beni mora is a suite in three movements for a large orchestra that is based off of folk music holst heard being played in the streets of algeria (he was sent to algeria by a doctor for his health). it's just really neat to see one of the great folk-inspired composers take a look at folk music from more than just england, where he lived. tbh i have not critically listened to many recordings of this one so i can't recommend just one, but most of Adrian Boult's holst recordings are commendable.
A Somerset Rhapsody: a short overture for orchestra (there's also a band version if i remember correctly) inspired by english folksongs. if you've heard ralph vaughan williams' (english) folk song suite then you'll definitely recognize some of the tunes here. i'd recommend Adrian Boult's recording with the LPO.
St. Pauls Suite: this is a simple suite for strings that holst wrote when he was teaching at St. Paul's School. it is very pleasant to listen to and shows of some holst's string writing style unadorned by winds. most recordings of this are probably pretty good, it's kind of hard to mess it up
Savitri: a chamber opera (about an hour long) by holst with his own libretto that tells the story of Savitri and Satyavan from the Mahabarata. holst uses a very small orchestra of only 12 musicians (if i remember correctly it's a double string quartet + a double base, 2 flutes, and english horn) it's been a while since i listened to this piece but iirc the Richard Hickox/City of London Sinfonia recording is pretty good.
those are the large (ish) pieces that i'd recommend!
Joann Falletta (<3) made a FABULOUS recording of some lesser-known Holst works with the ulster orchestra; it contains the Walt Whitman Overture, the Cotswolds Symphony in F, a Winter Idyll, Japanese Suite, and Indra.
as for other interesting pieces, i'd HIGHLY recommend:
Suite de Ballet (op. 10), Hymns from the Rig Veda, Hammersmith, The Perfect Fool, The Golden Goose, and so much more that i can't remember off the top of my head.
if you listen to any of these and feel like talking about them, don't hesitate to send me an ask or dm me or something! i will always yap about holst.
