Prompt List
Your eyes were set on Roger, you didn’t mean to stare. You were trying to study for your chemistry exam while he was hunched over a piece of paper, jotting something down, but he kept pausing to roll his sleeves up to his elbows, you thought because he thought it made him look more official and important - you wanted to scoff at the thought, as if he was doing anything that important - but really, it was just a distraction waiting to happen.
“Please stop rolling your shirt sleeves up, it’s terribly distracting,” you said, glancing over at your idiot of a boyfriend who was currently planning to break into a park that closed at dusk just for the sheer joy of doing something daring. Freddie was joining you two in the next couple of minutes because, hey, why not invite two of the loudest people in the world to do something stupid? Roger looked up at you and gave you a smirk, something you, in hindsight, really should’ve seen coming.
“It’s terribly distracting, is it?” he grinned, leaving the table and making his way over to where you sat on the couch. You nodded and let out a shriek of surprise when he grabbed you off the couch and pulled you up into his arms, his hands set on your waist. He pressed kisses all over your face and thought you tried to push him off you, he wouldn’t let go, and you couldn’t keep your laughter contained. His hands moved across your stomach, effectively making you squirm and laugh louder as you tried to push away from him.
“Roger! Stop i-it!”
He finally relented, instead opting to pull you flush against his chest and press his lips to your hair, before letting you go. You sat back down on the couch, your cheeks flushed red, to which Roger grinned. He took a seat opposite of you on the coffee table, which made you give him a look.
“You should come with us to the park,” he proposed, and you shook your head.
“Rog, I’m not trespassing territory with you, no matter how much I love you”
Roger jutted his bottom lip out, hoping to sway you, “Aw, but y/n, it’s gonna be so fun. Besides, it’s just a public park, we’re not doing anything major”
You shook your head, “No, Rog, I really don’t wanna go”
“Please,” Roger drawed, grabbing your hand, and though you gave him a fond smile accompanied by your eye roll, your answer remained the same.
“Roger, I’m serious, I’m not breaking into a park with you!”
--
You wrapped your arms around yourself to shield your skin from the wind.
“I can’t believe you guys made me do this,” you muttered, glaring at the two boys walking side by side in front of you, Freddie being the one to wield the flashlight. Roger turned to grin at you, then held his arm out in a silent offer, which you accepted despite yourself. He chose to wear long sleeves, which you envied now that you were outside, but his arm wrapped around you and being pressed into his side certainly helped. You cursed yourself once again for not bringing a jacket when the wind picked up briefly.
It was about a fifteen minute walk to the park, but it went by surprisingly fast once Freddie and Roger got to talking, and soon you’d arrived at the entrance. It really wasn’t much of a break-in, when the park closed, they just locked a short gate over the entrance so no one could drive through to the parking area, and everything else was in the open. As soon as you’d made it to the park, Roger sprinted down the trail to the playground, making you, and probably Freddie, roll your eyes at him and try to run after him. It was quite a large expanse. The park had about a two-mile trail and an extra-mile one that led into the wooded area. There was a large field where little league soccer games would often take place in the summer, and there were two baseball fields. By the time you reached Roger, he seemed adamant on getting himself as high as he could on the swings, and holy shit, you really were dating a man-child. He was vigorously moving his legs to get more height, and a grin was stretched across his face. You just rolled your eyes when he winked at you and took a seat on the bench opposite of the swings and out of the mulch.
“Love, love,” he stumbled off the swing, a bit dizzy and out of breath, plopping next to you, “you gotta do somethin’! Or else it isn’t fun!”
You waved him away, starting to feel a bit of an uneasiness settle around you now that Roger’s laughter had died off and Freddie had wandered to God knows where to do God knows what. It was interesting what the right circumstances could do to a perfectly normal place. It was dark, and very, very quiet, save for the steady sounds of the crickets somewhere in the distance, and somehow just those couple things alone began to give the entire park a sort of ominous feeling, and it made a chill run down your spine. Distantly you heard Freddie whoop in excitement - and probably the remnants of the Hennessy the boys shared before they left - and you felt Roger’s arm squeeze you briefly.
“C-Can anyone else hear those Jumanji-like drums? Or is it just me?” you said, trying to conceal the discomfort in your voice with a small laugh. Roger leaned forward from the backrest of the bench to look at you, and, being the wonderful man that he is, he noticed the look in your eyes straight away, and ran his hand up and down your arm.
“Y/n, you alright, honey?”
You nodded, though it was in no way convincing, and Roger chuckled a bit, “Love, there’s nothing to worry about, I promise. No one’s gonna sneak up on us and stab us or anything,” he pulled you further into him, continuing to run a hand up and down your arm comfortingly. Well, now you were worried about that too. Though it wasn’t at all his fault. Despite all the ‘danger’, for lack of a better term, of someone who owns the park or someone who works here finding you all trespassing and charge you with something or give you a large fine, now you were focused on any fucking bums that might be waiting to fucking kill you. No matter how dumb that sounded - even in your head - you still were able to focus on it and almost nothing else. Of course, Roger pressing a small kiss to your temple helped.
Freddie had just arrived back from wherever he was lounging, which, to your surprise, happened to be an oak tree a ways down the trail.
“Hello, my loves, please don’t tell me you shagged while I was gone; I heard some screeching”
You giggled and jerked a thumb towards Roger, who was panting from the sheer effort of running aimlessly through the field, “That would’ve been Roger. He’s been running around in the field, doing cartwheels and screaming”
Freddie laughed along with you, “I decided to try my luck at climbing one of those trees back there,” he paused to point farther down the walking trail, “I didn’t do too bad, though I must admit, it was a, er, small tree”
It was when he flipped his hair over and started shaking it out to look for ticks and whatnot that you and Roger both were startled by the bright beam of a flashlight sweep over your figures. Uh oh. That was, of course, followed by a distant, but still loud voice shouting, “What’re you kids doing here!?”. The next thing you knew, you, Roger, and Freddie were sprinting out of the park, somehow managing to hurdle jump over the short stone wall that surrounded the fields and trails of the park. There were two ways this could play out; the guard - or whatever - could chase you out of the park and probably wear himself out from running after three energetic college students, or he could let you go. Thankfully, for both your sakes, he chose the latter, and it wasn’t until you were all a good distance away that you stopped, practically collapsing into laughter, you leaning heavily on Roger from exhaustion of running paired with the fact that it was roughly 2:30 a.m.
“Well,” Freddie panted, practically stumbling forward to continue walking, “I wasn’t expecting that, but as it seems to be, everything is more fun when there’s danger,” he emphasized dramatically, waving his hands around. Roger laughed breathlessly and you clung to his arm, grinning deviously despite having just smacked his shoulder.
“Remind me again why I let you convince me to do things with you?” you tilted your head to look up at Roger, who was already smiling down at you. He pressed a quick kiss to your forehead.
“‘Cause you love me”
Freddie groaned loudly, drawing it out far longer than necessary, “You two are so disgustingly sweet, it’s driving me nuts!”
Roger only stuck his tongue out and kissed your hair, squeezing you against him. You had to stop getting into situations like this with him.
