#MeMadeMay2021 day 4! I've got 2 today.  1st, a self drafted dress, loosely based off of one from Express (pictures) and one from Athleta.  The one from Athleta had sleeves, but not the gathering on the skirt.  the fabric is from @joann_stores. And some black on black printed Clara leggings for the gym. The 26th: A skirt with a fold over waistband. It's my own design, I used it when I used to teach "begining to sew" classes. Oh @sheinofficial , I love when you post ads for items that are pretty darn close to items I've made. Wait! Does this count towards #MeMadeMay ? Here's my velvet racerback tank top with a built in shelf bra. The bra portion is made from swimsuit quality fabric, in my case for lift and durability, so this could be a tankini top!!! The fabric itself was part of @joann_stores Witching Hour line last Halloween. It's a self drafted pattern. #MeMadeMay2021 Day 20 & 21 The 20th involved 3 me-mades!  Using @simplicity_creative_group 8216 to make a dress shirt.  I bought the end of the bolt, so it was a little short on the nessasary yardage.  To fix this, the back yolk is the woven flamingo fabric, and the main back is a rayon knit.  And there's that @noodlehead531 Redwood Tote again!  I also wore some Capri length @jalie_patterns Clara leggings, made with fabric from @Spoonflower to the gym.  Today, the 21st, is a burnout velvet @McCallspatterns 7601, view A again.  This time I did it the way the patterns calls, not my favorite way. #MeMadeMay2021 Day 18 Coakley came to help today!  Self drafted skirt, with pockets!  You can buy a pattern from any of the big 4 pattern companies for this skirt, but it's just a rectangle with a waistband...and maybe pockets. I use this pattern when I teach people how to sew.  Unlike the pattern book versions, my zipper is in the back so pockets could easily be set in the side without making it harder on the newbies. The fabric was part of a coordinating set when @joann_stores relaunched their cottons in subcategories a few years ago.  The pockets and waistband are polka dots, I wish I'd gotten more to add a contrasting border on the bottom, oh well. I've made this skirt so many times, don't be surprised if you see it again. PSA: I've been reading a lot of posts asking if you can use "quilting cotton" for apparel in FB groups lately.  Yes, you can!  This whole "it's quilting fabric, I can only quilt with it" mentally needs to stop.  It's perfectly fine to make garments out of this fabric.  I still wear dress shirts and pajama pants made from calicos 10 years ago.  If the lady at the fabric store tells you that you can't, roll your eyes and say "thanks for the missinformation". #MeMadeMay2021 Day 16 & 17 That was an insanely busy 2 days.  I've got the loungewear and work attire! 1. Work wear!  (Please ignore the makeup stain, that happened this afternoon) The top is @simplicity_creative_group New Look 6303.  It's so close to my favorite INC concepts (Macy's) store bought dress shirt that I had to give it a try.  If I make it again, I'll take in the sides a tiny bit. 2. Loungewear! #MeMadeMay2021 day 6 Today's memades includes 1 self drafted tank top from a fabric designed by @crystal.w.design via @spoonflower, 1 perfect fitting pair of self drafted dress pants made from a pointe knit (I was aiming for "they won't wrinkle”effect) that are long enough to wear heels if I want, and one pair of very basic beaded earrings. (The sweater is Mossimo Black from the clearance rack at Target, when I still worked at the one in Kzoo, so it's really old. If you're gonna buy a cheap sweater, might as well wear it until it's dead.) Fun fact, not everything I make turns out perfectly. I've make this tank top at least 10 times...maybe even closer to 20, but I messed up cutting it out this time.
