#WaybackWednesday: Happy “Wayback Wednesday” everyone!! Can’t believe it’s a year today (2/3/2020) since I went to visit Hildene: The Lincoln Family Home @hildenethelincolnfamilyhome in Manchester,VT for the first time with a friend of mine!! It’s a beautiful historical site to visit year round. It was the home of Robert Todd Lincoln, President Abraham Lincoln’s son. Robert Todd was also the president of the Pullman Car Company! You can tour his mansion, the Sunbeam Pullman car, and your other sites along the grounds!! I hope to visit the site again once the virus restrictions are lifted and when things can return to somewhat of a normalcy!! What Roof Should I pick?

Time to take care of your biggest investment “your home” with the economy growing and the value of your #home increasing steadily it is time to invest in keeping your home’s value at its highest.  When you put money into your home it is an investment for you, your family and maybe one day your retirement home in Florida or my favorite place “Hilton Head, SC”.  What you want most is “ROI” or Return on your Investment and to do this you need to start at the top, your #roof.  Today your #roof is not just something protecting what inside your home it is a critical part of the #home's exterior. With so many options for your roof, color is just one of them.  First, you may want to decide what you would like to use as material.

Asphalt Shingle:  The least expensive of roofing materials and come in a large variety of colors and designs.  The traditional organic mat-based shingles are made from a recycled layer of felt paper, asphalt-saturated for waterproofing, and coated with adhesive asphalt into which the ceramic granules are embedded. They are popular for single homes, apartment building and smaller developments.  Total Restore & Services mainly uses GAF  which has an easy to read website showing the different styles, colors, and configuration.

Cedar  Shakes: Old School, time-consuming yet a look you cannot get with anything else.  A preservative treated product last longer than an untreated one? Pressure impregnated Certi-last™ cedar shakes and shingles will generally offer a longer lifespan than untreated shakes and shingles. Pressure-impregnated preservative treated products prevent moss and mildew buildup, as well as improve longevity, especially in high humidity areas. We enjoy installing a wood shake roof because it is real craftsmanship in the roofing community and it beautiful and long-lasting.

Synthetic Shingle: A modern improvement and a new look of a shingle.  They are made of plastic and rubber and are designed to look like a slate tile.  Davinci put out a composite slate shingles that are carefully engineered to provide the authentic look and durability of natural slate #roofs.  Whether you need assistance with product or color selection, Total Restore & Services are here to help.

Slate: Slates are a fine-grain, homogeneous rock that derives from shale sediment composing of clay or volcanic ash.  No roof is as pleasing to the eye as an old traditional slat roof which has been properly maintained or restored.  Old slate is salvaged from an old roof and reuse into new projects.  Slate last pretty much forever and can be maintained and fixed by a #roofing company know slate like Total Restore & Services
