Super quick WoT show thoughts because I binged season 3 ep1-3 with my spouse last night and couldn’t do a proper liveblog (still planning to do one tho!)

Love that we got some of my fav book bits- Siuan reading Mat for filth, the Mandarb reveal, and Mat’s quarterstaff triumph.

I also love how much the Nyneave & Mat relationship is being developed. They are such bullshitters to themselves but they can’t bullshit each other.

I don’t love generic pompous asshole Galad but my spouse reminds me that ‘he gets religion’ so perhaps there is hope for a more book-canon Galad later. Fuckboi! Galad is Not It, I need Autistic Guy With Abandonment Issues Attempts To Reform The High-Control Group He Willingly Joined! Galad.

I also dislike Cersei!Morgase, but there is something mildly interesting about Elayne being so idealistic *because* Morgase did so much dirty work before she was born. I get the sense that Morgase tries to maintain the illusion with Elayne that all of her power is solely due to high principles of statecraft.

About the Tower: I really liked Elaida this episode, her conversation with Galina and with Min. We saw the confirmation of Mat getting hanged, very happy about that (somewhere else than Rhuidean?). Everyone is going to Tanchico, where Liandrin is trying to bring her son back and to get a male a'dam.

Then the Two Rivers: the first meeting of MANDARB (sorry I laughed so hard). Lord Luc didn't look like Rand, so bummer. I also missed Ordeith with the Whitecloaks. The beginning of Perrin's leadership and his interactions with Faile were very good.

Next week is the big Rhuidean episode, so looking forward to that!
