Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or a first-time boater, a Miami boat rental is your gateway to exploring the city’s beautiful coastline, hidden islands, and crystal-clear waters. Renting a boat in Miami provides an unforgettable experience, allowing you to soak up the sun, enjoy water sports, or simply relax and take in the breathtaking views. This guide will walk you through the benefits of renting a boat in Miami, the best spots to visit, and essential tips to ensure a smooth and enjoyable boating adventure.
Why Rent a Boat in Miami?
Stunning Coastal Views:
Miami’s coastline is renowned for its beauty, and there’s no better way to appreciate it than from the water. Renting a boat allows you to experience panoramic views of Miami’s skyline, pristine beaches, and vibrant marine life, offering a perspective you can’t get from the shore.
Explore at Your Own Pace:
One of the greatest advantages of renting a boat is the freedom it offers. Whether you want to cruise along the Intracoastal Waterway, anchor at a secluded cove, or explore the bustling Biscayne Bay, you have the flexibility to create your own itinerary and enjoy Miami’s waters on your terms.
Perfect for Any Occasion:
A Miami boat rental is ideal for a variety of occasions. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, hosting a corporate event, or planning a romantic getaway, renting a boat provides a unique and memorable setting. Many rental companies offer customizable packages to suit your needs, including catering, entertainment, and professional captains.
Variety of Boats Available:
Miami’s boat rental market offers a wide range of vessels to choose from, catering to different preferences and budgets. From luxurious yachts to sporty speedboats, you can find the perfect boat for your outing. Whether you’re looking for a day of relaxation or adventure, there’s a boat rental that fits the bill.
Endless Activities:
When you rent a boat in Miami, the possibilities for activities are endless. Enjoy water sports like jet skiing, wakeboarding, or paddleboarding. Go fishing in the rich waters of the Atlantic Ocean or simply relax on deck with a drink in hand. The choice is yours!
Top Destinations to Explore with a Miami Boat Rental
Biscayne Bay:
Biscayne Bay is one of the most popular boating destinations in Miami, known for its calm waters and stunning scenery. Explore the bay’s many islands, visit the Biscayne National Park, or enjoy water sports in the protected areas. The bay offers a mix of natural beauty and urban views, making it a must-visit spot.
Miami River:
The Miami River is a hidden gem that winds through the heart of the city, offering a unique perspective of Miami’s downtown area. As you cruise along the river, you’ll pass by towering skyscrapers, historic sites, and trendy waterfront restaurants where you can dock for a meal or a drink.
Star Island:
Star Island is famous for its luxurious waterfront mansions and celebrity residents. While you can’t dock here, a cruise around the island offers a glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous. The views of the opulent homes and Miami’s skyline make for a picturesque journey.
Haulover Sandbar:
Located just north of Miami Beach, the Haulover Sandbar is a popular spot for boaters to anchor and enjoy a day of swimming, sunbathing, and socializing. The sandbar’s shallow waters are perfect for wading, and on weekends, it often becomes a lively party scene with music and festivities.
Key Biscayne:
Key Biscayne offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Miami. Cruise around the island, visit the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, or anchor off one of the many secluded beaches. The island’s natural beauty and calm waters make it an ideal destination for a relaxing day on the water.
Tips for a Successful Miami Boat Rental Experience
Book Early:
Miami is a popular destination, especially during peak tourist seasons. To ensure you get the boat you want, it’s wise to book your rental in advance. Early booking also gives you time to plan your route and make any special arrangements, such as hiring a captain or adding extra amenities.
Consider Your Group Size and Needs:
When choosing a boat, think about the size of your group and the type of experience you’re seeking. Smaller boats are perfect for intimate gatherings, while larger vessels can accommodate bigger parties and offer more amenities. Ensure the boat has enough space and facilities to keep everyone comfortable.
Check the Weather:
Miami’s weather is generally warm and sunny, but it’s important to check the forecast before heading out. Sudden rain showers or strong winds can affect your boating plans. Choose a day with favorable weather conditions for a safe and enjoyable experience on the water.
Understand the Costs:
Before renting a boat, make sure you understand what’s included in the cost. Some rentals include fuel, a captain, and other amenities, while others may charge extra for these services. Clarify all costs upfront to avoid any surprises.
Prioritize Safety:
Safety should be your top priority when renting a boat. If you’re not an experienced boater, consider renting a boat with a captain. They’ll navigate the waters safely and ensure you have a worry-free experience. Always follow safety guidelines, including wearing life jackets and adhering to boating regulations.
Conclusion
A Miami boat rental offers an unparalleled way to explore the beauty and excitement of this vibrant city. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a unique setting for a special occasion, renting a boat provides a memorable experience on the water. With a wide range of boats to choose from and endless destinations to explore, your Miami boating adventure is just a rental away. So grab your sunscreen, gather your friends, and set sail on an unforgettable journey through Miami’s stunning waters.

Identifying the Perfect Venue for Your Event
Planning a successful event requires finding the right venue. Whether you’re hosting a corporate conference, a private wedding, or a public gathering, you want to select the perfect place for your guests. To do this, you’ll need to consider the size of the event, the type of event, the budget, and the type of atmosphere you’re trying to create. You may also consider the location of the venue—if it’s easily accessible and close to lodging, restaurants, and other attractions. With these factors in mind, you can begin to narrow down your list of potential venues.
Exploring Venue Options in the Heart of the Bay Area
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to some of the most iconic venues on the West Coast. From the Golden Gate Park to the iconic Palace of Fine Arts, the Bay Area offers countless venues for any type of event. Many of the Bay Area’s most popular venues are located in the heart of the city, near bustling downtown districts and vibrant tourist attractions. Whether you’re looking for a modern event space, a historic venue, or a unique outdoor location, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from in San Francisco.
Uncovering Hidden Gems in the SF Bay Area
Beyond the bustling city center, the Bay Area has countless hidden gems that are ideal for events. From cozy wineries in the hills of Sonoma Valley to stunning seaside cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Bay Area is full of hidden gems that are perfect for events. Many of these unique venues are tucked away in small towns, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you’re looking for a truly special venue for your event, consider exploring the hidden gems in the Bay Area.
Comparing Amenities and Accommodations at Different Venues
Once you’ve narrowed down your list of potential venues, it’s important to compare the amenities and accommodations at each location. Consider the layout of the space, the available technologies, the capacity, and the available catering options. Also take a look at the venue’s policies, such as noise restrictions and the ability to bring your own vendors. Make sure the venue can accommodate all of your needs before making a final decision.
Locating Outdoor Venues with Prime Views
The Bay Area is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, and many of the region’s best outdoor venues offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape. From the rolling hills of Marin to the glassy waters of the San Francisco Bay, there are countless outdoor venues with prime views in the Bay Area. These venues are perfect for events that want to take advantage of the Bay Area’s beautiful scenery.
Securing the Best Rates at Bay Area Venues
Booking a venue in the Bay Area can be expensive, but there are a few things you can do to get the best rate. First, consider booking your venue outside of peak seasons, such as during the winter or on weekdays. You should also look for venues that offer discounts for booking multiple events or for long-term rentals. Finally, negotiate with the venue to get the best rates and perks for your event.
Acquiring the Necessary Permits for Your Event
Depending on the type of event you’re hosting, you may need to acquire certain permits or licenses before your event can take place. For outdoor events, you may need to acquire a permit from the local government or an event permit from the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. You may also need a noise permit or a street closure permit if your event will be held in a public area. Make sure to research the necessary permits for your event so you can plan accordingly.
Conclusion
The Bay Area is a great place to host events of all sizes. With its diverse venues, from rustic barns to modern art galleries, there's something to suit every taste and budget. From the picturesque Golden Gate Bridge to the bustling downtown area, the Bay Area has something to offer everyone. Does anyone still remember my sims 2 to sims 4 uberhood project from like a lifetime ago? Well I’ve been going back to in since like a month. I finished Veronaville/Oasis Springs and Desiderata Valley/Newcrest in the meantime. I’ve also remade the premade sims to make them look more accurate to their sims 2  originals and to match their traits even more to their personalities. I own more packs now so the builds look way better (though I didn’t revised the Pleasantview/Willow Creek lots). My goal is to finish and really play this save! I always wanted to play an Uberhood in the sims 2 but I don’t have the nerves to do so. But with the Story Progression of MCCC I might be able to skip households that aren’t interesting to me. We’ll see how this works out in the end. There is still a lot of work ahead of me. Let me know if you are interested in pics! Under the cut some notes to which world will be which ‘hood and some thoughts about them and my system for giving sims 2 premades sims 4 traits (mainly for my own reference when I’m not on my usual device).
Oasis Springs -> Veronaville -> Done Might be a funny decision, I was even asked before why I decided to do so. I stated that Veronaville always gave me Mediterranean vibes, I never gave Veronaville a winter season in sims 2. And I mean climate change is real you guys! This is probably what a Mediterranean area looks like today.
Willow Creek -> Pleasantview -> Done This is the obvious choice I guess. All makeovers can be found in the tag above. Sims have been remade.
Newcrest -> Desiderata Valley -> WIP Desiderata Valley has quite the suburban vibe to me, with the skyscapers in the background of Newcrest I thought that was really fitting. The lots are a bit small (as are a lot of lots in sims 4) but I made it work. Currently recreating the sims. I always had a soft spot for DV and I missed playing them. Some lots are really hideous!
Granite Falls -> Three Lakes I don’t own Outdoor Retreat but I plan to build the lots I planned for it anyway and save them to the gallery (if I ever get the GP).
Magnolia Promenade -> Bluewater Village (partial) In Magnolia Promenade I’ll build the own businesses by the Ramirez, Jacquet and Landgraab family.
Windenburg -> Bluewater Village I know that a lot of players see Windenburg more like Veronaville but I thought the whole setting with the big urban part would be more fitting to a Shopping District. Still don’t know who to handle home businesses...
San Myshuno -> Downtown (partial) and Belladonna Cove (partial) It makes sense to turn San Myshuno into Downtown. The Apartments will be filled with Belladonna Residents though.
Forgotten Hollow -> Downtown (partial) The vampire parts of Downtown would go to Forgotten Hollow. I don’t own the Vampires GP though. I’ll still build the lots and to the same as with the Three Lakes lots. Might get Vampires in the future...
Brindleton Bay -> Riverblossom Hills Those two ‘hood just give me the same vibes, idk...
Selvadorada No changes to the hood. I don’t own the pack, I don’t plan on getting it and even if I would, I’d have no idea what else to turn it into.
Del Sol Valley -> Belladonna Cove (partial) This would be like the uptown part of Belladonna Cove. I don’t own the pack so same as for Granite Falls and Forgotton Hollow applies.
Strangerville -> Strangetown Do I really need to elaborate this? I don’t think so. The lots in this world are really small and the Strangetown lots tend to be huge so I gotta improvise, but I’ll make it work!
Sulani -> Twikki Island This is pretty obvious too I think. With the possibility to have rental homes in residential worlds I could turn Sulani de facto into a vacation hood. Yet I don’t own the EP so same as above applies.
Glimmerbrook -> Magic and Belladonna Cove (partial) Glimmerbrook will be the homes to all thise magical beings from apartment live (and a not so magical neighbor of the Cordial sisters).
Britechester -> SSU, LFT, ALT This one is really giving me a headarche. I’ll include one residential lot from each S2 University and merge the Sororities and Fraternities of the SSU and LFT. They’ll move into Dorms I think. Don’t know what to do with the rest of the students yet.
Evergreen Harbor -> Belladonna Cove (partial) Probably just made this decision because there are apartments in Evergreen Harbor too. Will turn it into the low and middle class part of Belladonna Cove. I really don’t like this world, guys it’ll probably be a lot of community lots.
Mt. Komorebi -> Takemizu Village Guessed it, right? xD See Sulani on the how to. Mt. Komorebi will see a special inhabitant as it has one lot more than Takemizu.

Visitors come to Miami for its beaches and beautiful watery environs. The Miami area comprises the protected waters of Biscayne bay, and, the barrier island of Miami Beach, itself a separate city, a thin barrier island crammed with hotels, restaurants, and, of course, its world famous beaches. Many of the most interesting areas in Miami are accessible only to boaters. If being a voyeur is your style, you can only see many of the mansions of the rich and famous from off shore. Charter a boat in Miami and float past the homes uber mansions of the rich, the famous, the infamous, and various robber barons, drug lords, and other people who would prefer to enjoy their ill-gotten gains in splendid anonymity. Off shore, and now owned by Biscayne National Park, is Stiltsville. This is a collection of dwellings built on stilts on sand bars during prohibition, so party goers could have a drink outside what was at that time the territorial limit of the USA. Biscayne Bay itself is an amazing natural attraction. The sand bar is famous among the locals and insiders to the ocean scene. Rent a boat and relax on the shallow, warm tropical waters. Charter a catamaran in Miami and enjoy the view of the city over the water. Snorkel among Mangroves with sting rays and fish. Beautiful coral reefs are accessible within a day trip. However, the best thing of all to do is to simply “Chillax” or chill out and relax, as the locals say, with your loved ones and friends. A yacht rental Miami style is definitely the way to go here! https://onboat.co/miami-city-of-water/

Nicaragua is known as “The Land of Lakes and Volcanoes” due to the large number of lagoons, freshwater lakes, and volcanos in the country. Today, only 7 of the 50 volcanoes are considered active, yet Nicaragua is one of the ONLY places in the world where you can safely peak into the crater of an active volcano and see red lava flowing at Masaya or go volcano boarding on black sand at Cerro Negro outside Leon.
Tumblr media
The chain of volcanoes that runs from north to south along the country’s Pacific Coast is part of the infamous “Ring of Fire” that skirts Asia, Alaska and the Pacific Coast of the Americas where most earthquakes and volcanos are concentrated nowadays.
Tumblr media
Many of these volcanoes and lagoons offer great opportunities for tourists to hike, climb, paddle, and swim. In a week full of adventures I was not only able to improve my surfing with the help of Rapture’s  superb instructors but I also went on a couple of day trips and saw 4 volcanos (Masaya, Mombacho, Concepcion, Maderas) 2 of which active (Masaya and Concepcion) and swam in a couple of crater lakes heated naturally from the magma underneath (freaky indeed!!!). Tour guide, transportation, and itinerary courtesy of the incredible team at Rapture Nicaragua! (I can’t recommend them high enough!)
Tumblr media
Before we get lost down cobblestoned streets in old colonial towns, let’s explore Nicaragua’s incredible nature! The Nicaraguan jungles are considered the lungs of Central America and comprise the second largest rainforest in the Americas. There are currently 78 protected areas in Nicaragua or about 17% of its landmass. The bull shark (aka “Nicaragua shark”) is a species that can survive for an extended period of time in fresh water. It can be found in Lake Nicaragua and the San Juan River. It it the ONLY shark that lives in fresh water where it stays for a max of 90 days to breed. While it breeds it doesn’t feed so you can swim at leisure in Lake Nicaragua and not worry. The other “friendly” animal in the water is the cayman – same breeding and behavioral habits apply so don’t worry about them either 🙂 DO worry about snakes, everywhere.
Tumblr media
The Apoyo Lagoon Natural Reserve was created by the eruption of the Apoyo Volcano about 23,000 years ago, which left a huge crater that gradually filled with water. It is the largest volcanic lagoon in Nicaragua and swimming in the volcanic crater lake is a must, water is warm and crystal clear and full of minerals. (Yes, you can go in naked 🙂 For the more adventurous there is scuba diving taking you to great depths of the crater.
Masaya is an active volcano with a gaping crater where you can see red lava flowing at night 500m under the surface of the Earth. Mother Nature left me quite speechless there (yes, me 🙂  and I quietly enjoyed the random stories told by the local Park Ranger about the history of the volcano, the changes in the lava flow, and the creation of the National Park. Lava sounds like ocean waves, moves like water, bubbles up like a hot spring, and flows like a river… Do allow time before sunset to visit the Museum at the bottom of the hill so you can learn more about volcanic activity and the Ring of Fire.
On your way to Masaya ask your guide about Diriomo, known as the last city of witches in Nicaragua. Witchcraft is done only on Fridays and only by natives.
Granada was the first European “city” in mainland America preserving some of the finest colonial architecture in Nicaragua. Granada maintained a flourishing commerce with ports on the Atlantic Ocean through Lake Nicaragua and the San Juan River. It has been a victim of many invasions from pirates sailing up the same route. The town is still very romantic and stunningly beautiful and has so much history, museums, and hidden alleyways to explore. Allow for a couple of days in Granada to leisurely walk down cobblestoned streets, take pictures of colorful facades, enter lush inner courts and ride in horse-drawn carriages.
Many centuries ago Mombacho volcano blew most of its cone into the lake, forming the 365 Isletas de Granada (small volcanic rock islands spewed into the lake). Hiking up to the crater of Mombacho is an increasingly popular tourist activity as the volcano has fantastic views of Lake Nicaragua and the city of Granada. The hike is not difficult, just allow plenty of time, wear proper shoes, and carry enough water. The last eruption of Mombacho occurred in 1570 and somehow spared Granada.
Don’t miss lunch at The Garden Cafe! It received international recognition in the NYTimes as one of the must-visit restaurants in Central America and relax in their hidden garden. Afterwards visit the Museo de Cacao and peak into the Cacao Mansion behind it. Learn about cocoa production in Central America, do an elaborate tasting of their many goods, grab a drink by the pool or indulge in a chocolate spa treatment.
After chocolate come cigars. The Cigar Museum is housed in an imposing building where you can discover why Nicaraguan cigars are on par with Cuban (if not better) and significantly cheaper! At 330pm climb to the top of the bell tower of the oldest church in Granada (Iglesia de Merced) for the daily ring of the bells and fantastic views of the city, Lake Nicaragua and the volcanos. Peek into the barber shop on the opposite corner for a very authentic experience.
Rapture Surfcamps Nicaragua is located in Playa Maderas a few kilometers outside of San Juan del Sur. Known as Nicaragua’s “sin city” San Juan is the place you go to party should you have any strength left after surfing. Drinks are cheap and the rum is strong!
One of the landmarks to visit in San Juan del Sur is the statue of Jesus de la Misericordia. It is a steep 30-min walk up to the statue but you are rewarded with the best views. Get there between 5-6pm to catch both the daylight over the bay and the sunset to the West. The statue is a “Thank You note” for the restored health of an elderly gentleman. The funny story behind the statue is that Jesus’s hands are turned up as if he is shrugging his shoulders and giving up on the sinners below him (Sin City remember ;-).
Tumblr media
If you’d like to add turtle watching to your itinerary, a good place is Playa del Coco where you can go swimming, fishing, and see the turtles at La Flor Wildlife Refuge. Horseback riding at sunset can be arranged at Playa Maderas, the animals are well fed and cared for and the guide will come pick you up straight from Rapture Surfcamp.
Last but not least on my Nicaragua itinerary was La Isla de Ometepe – a tribute trip to my late Grandma who would always ask me for the name of the largest lake in Nicaragua when solving crosswords.
Ometepe Island consists of 2 volcanos in the middle of Lake Nicaragua connected by a narrow black sand beach. You can visit the main attractions on the island in 2 days, but stay an extra night if you are planning to hike a volcano, you’ll need a full day just for that (and a local guide!!!). Concepcion is active and last erupted in 2009, Maderas is dormant and its crater is a forested lake now. If you decide to climb Maderas, allow yourself 8-10 hrs and hire a local guide. It is easy to get lost, trails are not well marked and you wouldn’t know how to avoid dangers in the jungle.
Ometepe Island has very fertile soil thanks to the ash spewn by the volcanos. You will notice men walking around carrying machetes everywhere…you never know when you’ll have to cut a banana or a coconut. Plantains and mangos are Ometepe’s main export not only to Nicaragua but to the whole Central America.
Ojo de Agua was my first stop after getting off the 1hr ferry ride across Lake Nicaragua. It is a natural spring resort in the middle of the jungle famous for its healing waters and the lush nature that surrounds it.
Next we went for “lunch” to El Pital – an organic cocoa farm and chocolate paradise – where you MUST try the Magic Ball special. El Pital also offers aerial yoga in their open air temple in the middle of the jungle, raw cacao ceremonies, amazing super foods and smoothies, paddle board rentals and a private beach to swim in Lake Nicaragua.
“Life is too short, eat dessert first.”
For the afternoon I recommend kayaking in Lake Nicaragua and up the Rio Istian which connects the west to the east coast of the island. Book a guided trip from Caballitos Mar to observe wildlife and watch the sunset on your paddle back (for the girls reading this, ask for the boat to tow the kayaks to the river, otherwise your arms will fall off).
Before you head to dinner and find your lodging for the night, book a horseback ride with Harris Horses for next morning to take you up to Cascada de San Ramon waterfall. I recommend spending the night at Casa del Bosque for an authentic but super comfortable and luxurious “finca” experience. Grab dinner and “ron” at Cafe Campestre in Balgue beforehand (same owners).
Cascada de San Ramon is a 180m waterfall where you should be ready to walk deep into the jungle and hop over boulders up a dry river bed to get to your final destination. If you are lucky enough you’ll be rewarded with an empty site where you can bathe naked under a freezing cold waterfall in the steaming hot jungle.
During your horseback ride you will also see the nahuatl statues and petroglyphs on the north west side of Volcano Maderas dating back to 300 AD. You can even swim in Lake Nicaragua with the horses – once in a lifetime experience with fantastic animals and a very friendly guide.
Before you board the ferry back to the mainland, stop by Punta Jesus Maria for sunset. It is the westernmost point of Ometepe Island and depending on the season and the water level in the lake, the slick of sand can go on for miles.
Nicaragua – The Land of Lakes and Volcanos Nicaragua is known as “The Land of Lakes and Volcanoes” due to the large number of lagoons, freshwater lakes, and volcanos in the country.

‘Horrific tragedy’: five dead at Halloween party in California Airbnb rental Shots began at the celebration that drew at least 100 people Survivor who lost friend told girls: ‘Y’all see us run, just run’ When they heard gunshots at a crowded Halloween house party, Tiara Chambers and her friends ran into a tiny room, shut the door and tried to stay quiet.
There were about seven of them, packed inside a washroom. They heard someone at the door. It was another young woman, saying: “I’m shot! I’m shot!”
Chambers, 24, tried to calm the woman, afraid of drawing attention. Then she heard more shots.
“They just kept going,” she said, “and all you hear, throughout the house, is, ‘He’s dead!’ ‘He’s dead!’ ‘She’s not breathing!’”
Chambers later learned that one of the five people killed on Thursday in Orinda, California was her friend Omar Taylor, a DJ at the party. The 24-year-old grew up in nearby Richmond and was hardworking and family focused, she said. He had a young daughter.
“Once I got confirmation that it was him, I just broke down,” Chambers said. “He was the only reason I came to the party. He was just trying to make a living.”
Taylor invited Chambers to the party in the small, affluent suburb east of San Francisco, at an Airbnb rental. Local officials said a “mansion party” had been advertised on social media, drawing at least 100 from across the Bay Area.

BRITAIN’s top luxury stays for groups
The best, big British boltholes for entertaining a group of family and friends in complete luxury
Planning a family get-together, a special party or a blow-the-budget birthday weekend away with friends? You’ll need space, and plenty of it. We’ve cherry-picked the best options for group and celebration stays, from dreamy cottages to stately mansions for a weekend to remember.
The Oaks
Ever dreamt of being lord or lady of your own Georgian pile? There’s no better place to live out the fantasy than The Oaks, a handsome Grade II-listed mansion near Faversham in Kent. The six ample, light-filled bedrooms are awash with period features, from original shutters to marble fireplaces; the vast master bedroom on the top floor has a claw-foot tub and views of the leafy garden. It’s a house made for entertaining – and celebrating – with a vast dining room off the country-style kitchen, a grand sitting room with a log fire and your choice of comfy sofas and armchairs, and even a kids’ playroom for the younger members of the party. Perhaps the house’s finest feature, though, is its garden: a handsome walled affair with beds of roses, mature trees and plenty of shady nooks in which to park your sun lounger. If you can bear to tear yourself away, the cathedral city of Canterbury is just 11 miles away, while Whitstable, 10 miles away, has plenty of salty charm, with its oyster stalls and busy harbour lined with fishing boats.
Winterfell
© Unique Home Stays http://www.uniquehomestays.com/+44 (0) 1637 881183
Anyone who’s ever been to the Lake District could be forgiven for wanting to move there permanently, such is the spell it casts. Tranquil Windermere is one of the Lake District’s loveliest corners, and the perfect place for a group get-together, whether or not you plan to pack your walking boots. Our pick of the places to stay is Winterfell, a magical, ivy-clad hunting lodge nestled in forested hills and set in six acres of private grounds on the lake’s southern shore. Entering the house is like stepping into a Narnia-like landscape, where snowy white, warm grey and bare wood combine with an abundance of texture in throws, rugs and cushions to create a beautifully cosy and romantic interior. The six double bedrooms boast ornate fireplaces and rococo beds. While away hours in the library, cook up a feast in the cosy kitchen or wander the grounds: a walled garden leads to four acres of meadows where nothing will disturb you but birdsong.
The Lady Hamilton
If you’re looking to escape to the southeast coast, plump for Deal, Kent’s prettiest seaside town. Its narrow streets brim with nautical heritage, it has two castles to explore (Deal and nearby Walmer), and it boasts an array of characterful restaurants and independent boutiques too. Tucked away on a side street just a minute’s walk from Deal’s shingly shoreline is The Lady Hamilton, a stunning Georgian townhouse that’s full of period features. Wood panelling and floorboards give it plenty of creaky charm, but it’s far from stuck in the past: colourful accents and bright art give it a warm, home-from-home feel. Set over three floors (it sleeps 8), the house is anchored by its winding staircase, taking you from the ground floor to the pièce de résistance– a gorgeous wood-panelled sitting room, with squishy sofas, a snug wood-burner and sash windows overlooking the rooftops. Books and board games are provided for relaxing evenings. On sunny days, the walled patio garden is a little haven – an ideal place to gather for drinks after a day on the beach.
The Fish Store
© Unique Home Stays http://www.uniquehomestays.com/+44 (0) 1637 881183
Cornwall is always a safe bet for a crowd-pleasing holiday: with its enchanting coastline and unspoilt villages, it has all the ingredients for a memorable stay. Large rental houses can be thin on the ground so we were pleased to discover The Fish Store, which sleeps up to ten guests. Set in Mousehole, one of Cornwall’s loveliest villages on Cornwall’s south coast, it was a pilchard factory in a former life – hence the roomy interiors. Everything’s on a giant scale here: the lofty beamed ceilings, the vast windows – and the views of the ocean beyond. It’s a house ideal for all ages, with a cinema room where you can gather for a family film, a table tennis table that the kids will love, and a steam room where you can unwind after a day’s exploring. The delights of the Cornish coast are all within easy reach, from swimming in Mousehole’s sheltered bay and wandering its winding streets to exploring nearby St Michael’s Mount.
Loch Lomond Manor
Loch Lomond: even the name is enough to inspire romance. This historic manor house with its five fairytale turrets is just the ticket. Recognised as a National Monuments of Scotland house, it is ideal for history and architecture buffs, being situated just 500 metres from the famous Hill House, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Facing the Clyde Estuary, the house is also ideally located for strolls along the banks of Loch Lomond, a round of golf on one of the famous courses nearby, or day-trips into the Highlands (it’s at the start of the highland train line, putting Oban and Fort William within easy reach). Inside, all is on a grand scale, from the sofas to the bathtubs, and there are plenty of spaces for a large party to gather – the light-filled drawing room, with its tapestries and Edwardian fireplace, is hard to beat. Sleeping up to 10, Loch Lomond Manor makes a stylish stay in this beguiling part of Scotland.
Shalfleet Manor
If you have a big party to accommodate, consider Shalfleet Manor in the Isle of Wight, which sleeps 16-22 guests and is a stunner to boot. A wisteria-covered stone manor set in mature gardens, it is a dreamy place to spend a few days. Inside, a grand hallway, wood beams and a panelled living room with a 17th-century fireplace set the tone. It’s just one of many corners to snuggle up with a book or catch up over drinks – the airy conservatory and sun-trap terrace are tempting too. It’s a house made for lounging, but make time too for some outdoor pursuits: tennis on the all-weather court or a few laps of the heated pool, encircled by mature shrubs. Further afield is Newtown Creek, a sleepy spot where you can moor your own little boat, plus the wider delights of the Isle of Wight, from Queen Victoria’s Osborne House to sandy beaches galore.
Bear’s Cottage
Norfolk is strong on otherworldly landscapes, and the unique Bear’s Cottage offers a rare chance to truly get away from it all in fairytale surroundings. It’s set in 200 acres of private woodland, planted in the 1850s and crisscrossed with private trails for exploring. The cottage, which sleeps 8, has a warm and cosy feel, and has been thoughtfully restored to open out its spaces. Its open-plan kitchen, dining and living area allows the designated chef to cook up a storm without missing out on the action, while the large south-facing terrace is the perfect spot for alfresco lunches. Days can be spent exploring the rural village of Wood Norton and the renowned beaches of North Norfolk – some of England’s loveliest.

Things to Do in Mallorca Beyond the Resort – Wild Junket Adventure Travel Blog
This post contains affiliate links. I will earn a commission when you purchase through my links, at NO extra cost for you.
There is SO much to Mallorca beyond the all-inclusive resorts and party towns — get out and explore with this comprehensive list of things to do in Mallorca.
Before you shrug off Mallorca as another touristy island — hear me out. Like many of you, I always thought of Mallorca as a touristy and over-commercialized island full where holiday-makers flock to.
But as I learned from my trips to Mallorca, the island IS touristy, but there are still lots of quaint Spanish, secret coves and pristine bays where tourists are few and far between. Even among the tourist swarms of mid-August, you can find pockets of silence while driving along the beautiful coastal highways and hiking up to hilltop monasteries.
Having lived in Spain for 7 years, I’ve learned a thing or two about finding secret spots and locals’ favorite haunts in Mallorca. Here is my Mallorca guide and some of the best things to do in Mallorca beyond the resorts.
Things to Do in Mallorca
How to Get to Mallorca
By Plane
Palma de Mallorca Airport is the main gateway to Mallorca. Its international airport of Son Sant Joan is just 5 miles (8 km) from the city.
The airport is easily accessible by direct flight from major cities in Europe on budget airlines like easyJet, Ryanair, Tui and Vueling. You can get flights as cheap as $50 return from London, Madrid, Amsterdam or Paris.
If you’re flying from the US, most flights from New York to Palma cost around $500 return with a stopover in a European city. Flights from Los Angeles to Palma cost much more, at around $900 return.
Search for Cheap Flights to Mallorca
By Boat
Another way to travel to Mallorca is by ferry. There are regular ferry lines from several Spanish cities including Barcelona, Valencia and Denia to Mallorca.
The ferries usually cost around the same as flights and sometimes more. Click here to see ferry schedule and prices.
How to Get Around Mallorca
Renting a car is definitely the best way to explore Mallorca. There are public buses connecting the main towns, but they won’t get you to the scenic coastal roads, small villages and secret beaches.
Having your own wheels lets you travel independently, at your own pace. Besides renting cars in Mallorca is really affordable and roads are excellent. It’s easy to find your way around even if you don’t understand Spanish.
We booked our car rental on Discover Cars and paid around US$160 for one week rental of an economical car. The car hire company had excellent services and provided transfers in/out to the airport. It’s usually half the price during low season.
Book your Car Rental!
Day Tours in Mallorca
Mallorca is super easy to travel around, especially if you’re planning to rent a car.
But if you don’t drive, I recommend traveling independently and booking day tours or interesting experiences along the way. GetYourGuide is a good place to book day tours around the island. Day tours usually cost around US$50-100 per person.
For instance, we booked a Mallorca catamaran cruise and a visit to the Cave of Drach through their site and had a great experience. There are also plenty of exciting outdoor adventures available, such as a sea caving adventure or rock climbing experiences.
Best Time to Visit Mallorca
The best time to visit Mallorca is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September – October). I would avoid summer as it gets very busy around the island.
During spring and autumn, there are around 10 hours of sunshine each day and temperatures are up to 75°F (24°C). It’s warm enough to swim in the sea and the island is less crowded.
October is the rainiest season but rainfall is typically concentrated in heavy showers rather than persistent drizzle. Palma’s Nit de l’Art event takes place every September and sees the city’s museums and galleries fling open their doors for free.
Where to Stay in Mallorca
Best Hotels for Couples
Hotel Astoria Playa – Voted the top adults-only hotel in Mallorca by TripAdvisor users, this hotel is definitely a good option for those looking for some romance. There are two swimming pools and several jacuzzis. You can also choose from several packages to add the likes of sparkling wines, chocolates, and even ‘sensual sets’ for your stay. Check the rates.
Son Brull Hotel and Spa – This is easily our favorite hotel in Mallorca (pictured). Housed in a restored 18th-century jesuit monastery, this charming hotel tastefully combines historic architecture with edgy 21st-century design. The rural setting is also pretty special nestled among vineyards, lavender and lemon orchards in the foothills of the Tramontana sierra. Check the rates here.
Formentor, a Royal Hideaway Hotel – This vintage five-star hotel in Pollenca has been a favorite with couples since Grace Kelly and the Prince of Monaco honeymooned here in 1956. The hotel is set in the picturesque peninsular of Formentor, surrounded by scented pine forests and overlooking one of Mallorca’s prettiest beaches. Check the rates here.
Best Hotels for Families
Hotel VIVA Cala Mesquida – We loved our stay here and highly recommend it for families who want easy access to the beach and spacious family suites/apartments (pictured). They also have a massive kids pool area. The views from the resort are amazing, and the restaurants offer excellent food with nice views. Check the rates here.
Iberostar Selection Playa de Palma – This new and contemporary hotel has an excellent beachfront location just 15 minutes away from Palma. They have family rooms (up to 4 people) with balconies or terraces. Kids can use the indoor pool, playground and kids’ club at the Iberostar Cristina hotel next door. Check the rates here.
Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa – Perched on the cliffs overlooking the Port Soller bay, this elegant hotel has spacious 2 bedroom suites, with hot tubs and fireplaces. The hotel has two pools, kids’ club and playground. Check the rates here.
Best Hotels for Budget Travelers
Hotel Born – In the heart of Palma, this well-priced historic hotel occupies a former palace just walking distance from the Cathedral and other attractions. I love the regal, traditional Spanish interior. Plus a complimentary breakfast buffet is provided. Check the rates here.
Sanctuari de Lluc – Set in the Tramuntana Mountains on the property of a 13th-century sanctuary, this historic hotel features simple rooms and apartments with full kitchens, all with private bathrooms. The hotel also has an outdoor pool, its own museum, several restaurants and shops, and parking for a fee. Check the rates here.
Hotel Citric Sóller – You really don’t have to spend alot of money in Mallorca to enjoy sea views (pictured). Close to the heart of Port de Sóller, this waterfront hotel is steps to the beach and features a bar and restaurant, a large terrace overlooking the sea, and minimalist decor. Check the rates here.
Things to Do in Mallorca: For Culture Vultures
Explore Capital of Palm de Mallorca
The capital, Palma de Mallorca, is a richly studded historical city, almost as beautiful and impressive as other Spanish cities like Granada and Seville. First head to Calle San Miguel and across Plaza Mayor. There you will find a number of different street musicians, mime artists, hawkers, and jugglers as well as many great shops.
The historical heart of Palma lies in La Seu Cathedral, a magnificent work of art. Get skip-the-line tickets to Palma Cathedral, and gain free access to the Diocese museum. Wander in any direction from the Palma Cathedral and you’ll find narrow medieval streets lined with old mansions, looming baroque churches, vibrant bohemian neighborhoods and markets.
Alternatively, sign up for a guided bike tour of Palma and you’ll get to see everything and taste some tapas along the way.
Take the Train to Soller
For locomotive fans, I recommend catching the vintage train to the town of Soller for a time-travel experience.
Since 1912, the old narrow-gauge wooden train has been linking Soller with Palma de Mallorca. It used to transport fruit to Palma, but these days, it only serves as a tourist train.
The 28 km railway journey runs through 13 tunnels and spectacular mountain scenery. The train leaves from Plaza de España and five times a day, all year round. You can also combine this with the historic tram to Port de Soller for a full day trip.
Wander around the Mountain Town of Soller
Even if you’re not taking the train, a visit to Soller is still recommended for those seeking to explore beyond their resorts.
The town is home to many Art Nouveau buildings that have been restored and converted into museums like Can Prunera and the Balearic Museum of Natural Sciences.
The main square – Plaza de la Constitución – is Soller’s beating heart, dominated by the distinctive valley landmark, Sant Bartomeu church. The tram linking town and port clunks its way regularly through this splendid square.
The market in Sóller held every Saturday is a lively event, where shoppers and traders create a real buzz.
Visit the Art Museum of Alcudia
In the gorgeous coastal town of Alcúdia, Museu Sa Bassa Blanca is a museum beautifully integrated with nature. It contains contemporary galleries and exhibition halls, plus a sculpture garden.
There’s also a medieval-walled area containing more than one hundred varieties of old and English roses, and a curious observatory installation, offering a superb vantage point across the entire bay.
As access to the observatory is limited, only adults experienced in hiking are permitted – and prior reservation must be made.
Stroll around Deia Village
Possibly the most charming village on Mallorca, Deia is perched in the Tramuntana Mountains and dotted with honeycombed stone houses and cobbled streets.
Deià was once a second home to writers, actors and musicians, the best known of whom was the English poet Robert Graves.
The hamlet is flanked by terraced gardens, almond and olive trees and the occasional vineyard – all set against the mountain backdrop of the Puig des Teix (1062m).
Explore the Capdepera Castle
Nestled atop a hill, the Capdepera Fortress was founded in 1300 to protect local residents from residents. The walled town became known Capdepera Castle, one of the largest castles on the island.
In the 16th century, there were 125 houses inside its walls, but 200 years later it became a military outpost and most of the population lived outside. It was abandoned in 1856 and in 1983 it became municipal property.
The short walk to the castle is a bit steep but well worth it.
Things to Do in Mallorca: For Nature Lovers
Visit the Caves of Drach
Around an hour’s drive from Palma de Mallorca is the famous Caves of Drach in the town of Manacor. These caves were formed millions of years ago by the water pressure of the Mediterranean sea. There are actually four separate caves connected to each other, measuring a total length of 2.5 miles (4km)!
The stalagmites and stalactites are really impressive, but the most interesting attraction of these caves is their underwater lake, known as Lake Martel. We booked this guided visit to Caves of Drach and highly recommend it as the guide was very knowledgable.
Continue your day with a visit to the Caves del Hams, famous for its fish-hook shaped stalactites and stalagmites – the cause of their unique shape is still unknown!
Book Your Day Trip to Caves of Drach:
Drive or Bike Mallorca’s Most Scenic Road
Weave your way around Tramuntana Mountains on a 12km serpentine road riddled with hairpin bends that leads to Sa Calobra and Cala Tuent. Constructed in the 1930’s by Italian engineer Antonio Parietti, the road features twists and turns inspired by tying a tie, some say.
The ravine views are spectacular and the thrill of weaving through narrow ridges is exciting. Driving or biking it is one of the best experiences in Mallorca and highly recommended for adventure seekers.
But be warned: it’s not for the nauseous or faint hearted. We don’t get carsick easily, so definitely loved driving this route!
Visit the Cap de Formentor Lighthouse
If you’re driving the Tramuntana Road, be sure to make a stop at the rugged and remote Cap de Formentor cape.
The lighthouse perched at the top of the cliffs is the highest in the Balearic Islands and offers the best views on the island.
You’ll get to feast on views of Menorca in the east, Cala Fiquera in the west, and Alcudia with its sandy beach in the south.
However, the view of the cliffs below is not for those with vertigo as sea roars 300m below and the winds on the headland can be vicious. It was so crazy windy when we visited my hat flew off.
Get Lost in the Charming Valldemossa Village
Since you’re driving in the Tramuntana Road, I recommend taking some time to explore the village of Valldemossa. It’s steeped in old-world charm, and sprawls across an idyllic valley in the midst of the Tramuntana mountains.
Its ancient blonde stone houses contrast vividly against the surrounding green forests of olive, oak and almond trees, and the blue sky above. Valldemossa’s quiet and picturesque streets are sprinkled with shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants.
The natural beauty of the countryside makes Valldemossa a popular place for hikers and nature lovers to base themselves. There is a myriad of trails that wind their way up through the wooded hillsides before reaching the summits where hikers are rewarded with panoramic views over Mallorca and the Mediterranean.
Take A Hot Air Balloon Ride
Looking for to see Mallorca from a different perspective? Catch a hot air balloon flight above the Tramuntana Mountains and get a bird’s eye view of Mallorca. Most rides start at dawn, so be prepared to rise early.
Help with the preparations and then glide serenely up into the air and learn more about the areas you fly over as you sip a glass of sparkling champagne.
Float back to ground and get a souvenir flight certificate of your experience before returning to the meeting point by 4WD vehicle.

Things to Do in Mallorca: For Beach Bums
Relax on Cala Mesquida Beach
Cala Mesquida is definitely one of the most kid-friendly beaches on Mallorca, with its calm and shallow water. What I love most about the beach is that it’s set among pine trees and sand dunes. The area surrounding Cala Mesquida was specially designated an “area of special interest” by the Balearic government to protect some of its wild beauty.
We’ve stayed at Hotel VIVA Cala Mesquida once, and highly recommend it for families who want easy access to the beach. The views from the resort were amazing, and I remember dining right by the sea every night. Bliss!
Find the Secret Beach of Es Calo des Moro
If Cala Mesquida is too crowded, there are plenty of quiet beaches that only locals know about. My favorite beach on Mallorca is Es Calo des Moro, a small cove that you’ll need to climb over boulders to get to.
You won’t find any hotels or beach bars here as it’s privately owned. It can get crowded in summer,  but go early or visit in low season to have it all to yourself.
Head to the Remote Mondrago Natural Park
The Mondragó Natural Park is one of our favorite places on Mallorca. It is situated in the south, close to Santanyí, down tiny winding lanes lined with immaculate stone walls.
The park is famous for its fine white sand beaches and the unbelievable turquoise blue sea. Its remoteness does not stop it from being very popular, so prepare for some crowds especially if you’re going in summer.
There are a number of very beautiful beaches within the park: check out Cala Mondrago and S’Aramador Beach. Stunning cliffs reach down to crystal clear waters and the wetlands Ses Fonts de n’Alis with its migratory birds complete this nature reserve and beauty spot.
Visit the Arch Es Pontàs
Technically not a beach, this natural stone bridge is an iconic landmark that’s easily accessible by car. Es Ponta served as an inspiration for many artists who wanted to portray it in their works. One of them was the Argentine Francisco Bernareggi who did not hesitate to illustrate this hollow rock in one of his paintings.
To get there, drive to Cala Sanyantí and follow the signs that indicate the road to Es Pontás. Follow the hiking trail for 5 minutes and you will arrive at the viewpoint of the cliff.
If you are looking for an even better perspective, you can rent a boat or hire an excursion from Cala D’Or or Cala Santanyí.
Things to Do in Mallorca for Water Babies
Go Sea Caving in Cova des Coloms
For the adventure seekers out there, you’ve got to try this thrilling sea caving adventure in the Cova des Coloms caves. What makes this limestone cave so special are the natural pools inside. There are tons of caves dotted all around Mallorca, but this is the only cave system where you can swim in.
It’s quite a big cave system, so those with claustrophobia should be fine in there. All the necessary equipment will be provided, including protective helmets and a wetsuit. After a coastal walk of about 40 minutes, you’ll swim out to the cave (a distance of about 300 meters).
No prior experience in sea caving is required and you don’t have to go under the water. These vertical cave systems are a great introduction to caving, and the conditions make this the perfect adventure for beginners and families.

  Go Dolphin Watching by Boat
Another great activity to do in Mallorca with kids is a dolphin watching boat trip. It’s amazing to watch these playful animals dive, frolic and play.
Best of all, it’s almost always guaranteed to spot dolphins, even though they are wild. The company we went with even had a policy where a free ticket would be given to come back anytime if we didn’t see a dolphin. But we did spot lots of them!
These trips usually start at sunrise, when the dolphins are most active.  They run only from June to October. Kids under 3 go for free. Check out these dolphin watching tours.
Take a Catamaran Cruise
One of the best things to do in Mallorca for those who are looking to relax is a catamaran cruise. It’s an excellent way to explore the bay and caves, while letting your hair back and relax.
My husband and I sailed with this company before we had our daughter and had an excellent time onboard. We sailed from Palma to a beautiful cave in the south of the Palma Bay called La Cueva Verde.
From there, we continued on to the Cala Vella idyllic beaches with crystal clear waters where we swam and went kayaking. The cold cuts, wine and barbecue onboard were excellent.

Things to Do in Mallorca for Food and Wine Lovers
Try Mallorcan Food at the Market Hall
If you’re a foodie, make sure to pay a visit to the Centro Cultural S’Escorxador just outside the city centre of Palma. On the site of a former slaughterhouse is this market hall with 15 small kiosks serving everything from sushi to steak, Asian food to oysters. Portions are small and tapas-size, so you can easily choose a little of anything you fancy.
There are tons of local dishes that you need to try in Mallorca: Sobrassada is possibly the most well-known Mallorquin dish. It’s a cured sausage made of minced pork, paprika and other spices. Locals eat sobrassada in all kinds of ways, whether it’s a sobrassada baguette or even used to cook.
Another dish you must try is the Frito Mallorquin, which dates all the way back to the14th century and appears to have Jewish roots. The dish is a combination of meat (usually pork or lamb), intestine, liver, potato, tomato, onion and peppers fried with olive oil and garlic. Frito may not sound very appealing when described, but I assure you that it is absolutely delicious!
Do a Tapas Tour in Palma’s Old Town
If you’re looking for locals’ favorite haunts and secret hideouts, then you’ll have to join a tapas tour. Check out thisPalma tapas tour that will bring you to three different bars and let you taste the best the Old Town has to offer.
You’ll begin the tour at the imposing Palma Cathedral and learn all about this icon of the city. Then follow the guide through the city to see the Almudaina Palace, La Lonja and the Consolat de Mar, the governmental seat of the Balearics. Sample 3 delicious pinchos at the local bars in the old town to regain your strength, then continue on your way.
Visit the historic Es Baluard Fortress then stroll the beautiful Passeig del Born to the Plaça Mercat and the Grand Hotel. Stop into a typical tapas bar and taste a selection of warm tapas; then head to the historic town hall and the Neo-Gothic Consell Insular before indulging in a few sweet treats at the third and final bar.
Visit a Winery in Mallorca
Learn all about the history of wine growing in Majorca and enjoy breathtaking views over beautiful vineyards and the vast landscape in the center of the island. We did this Mallorca winery tour, which was absolutely worth the money as we visited three vineyards and had three different wine-tasting sessions with amazing food. By the end of it, we were thoroughly satisfied, happy and drunk.
First, you’ll visit the traditional La Raixa Estate and its amazing gardens. After that, follow the picturesque country roads from La Raixa through the wineyards of the island’s interior towards Santa Maria. Visit a quality producer and learn all about the methods of winemaking. Savor some fine wines along with regional specialties.
Then, make your way to one of Majorca’s most exclusive wine producers. Take part in a guided tour through the wine cellar and taste a selection of exquisite wines and snacks. Discover one of the most beautiful valleys of the island and admire the impressive rock formations along the way.
Book Your Winery Tour here:
I hope this detailed list of things to do in Mallorca will help you plan an exciting and fun-filled trip. Like many other parts of Spain, Mallorca has no shortage of charming villages, secret coves and rugged mountains. You just need to know where to find them!
