Stg every scene with marbod and ari in it is so unintentionally hilarious like sir yes, i am sleeping with your brother yes i am fraternizing with the enemy yes i offered him land and wealth and a life with me no i have no ulterior motives to my intense desire to not fight rome no your brother has nothing to do with it i don't even know his name
Just finished the Barbarians and I have to say I absolutely ADORE how inexplicable Marbod's love for Flavus is. Like ok, the man's all cheekbones and about 10 meters tall, we get it, but he is actively scheming for Rome, despises the tribes and has a moral backbone of a chocolate eclair. What's happening?? Is it something from their past? Is it Marbod's 'i can fix him' moment? Is it a sort of love for a fragile pretty thing where the flaws of the beloved do not really matter as long as being next to him makes the lover feel strong and protective? Who knows? It's a mystery. We're given nothing. No backstory, no flashbacks, no explanations. I LOVE IT.
