This face option is described in the asset files as "Black". I did a cursory research and learned that there is a significant Black Italian community of immigrants from Cameroon, so that's my headcanon for him and his family. I chose the Fulani surname Diallo because it starts with a Di like Di Vincenzo.

Marco Diệp

This face option is described in the asset files as "Asian". The most significant Asian Italian community is Chinese Italians, but I didn't find a Chinese surname starting with the sound Di that sounded right to me. So I went with the Vietnamese Diệp.

HOT SHOT

Casey Jamil

These face options are described in the asset files as "Middle Eastern". The Arabic surname Jamil was a spelling match for Jameson, and this spelling appears to be common in Syria and Iraq. So if they had this surname they could be Syrian or Iraqi.

IMMORTAL DESIRES

Cassius Han / Cassandra Han

These face options are described in the asset files as "Asian". The Japanese surname Harada is a spelling match for Harlow but I already used Harada for the LI of Guarded. Also, I keep seeing people comparing the masc face to this one Kpop singer, I forget who, so it gave me the headcanon that these faces are Korean. The Korean surname Han seemed like a pretty solid match for Harlow, and it's also a Chinese surname too so they could be Chinese with this surname. Also I know fem Cas's full name is canonically Cassie but like many others on this internet website I am a Cassandra Harlow truther because I think it sounds better.

Gabriel Almánzar / Gabriela Almánzar

These face options are described in the asset files as "Latinx". Couldn't find any Spanish or Portuguese language surnames that start with "Ad" so I went with a Spanish surname that starts with "A" and retains the "A-al-ar" sounds from Adalhard.

Gabe Ryu

This face option is described in the asset files as "Asian". Almost went with the Korean surname Rhee but I already chose it for TPS LI and also I think the Korean surname Ryu looks cooler on a law firm plaque. lol

MS. MATCH

Jack Mansour / Jacqueline Mansour

These face options are described in the asset files as "Arabic". Mansour was a close Arabic-language sound match to Monroe. This spelling seems to be common across all of North Africa and the Middle East. So I guess they could be from any of those places with that surname.

MY TWO FIRST LOVES

Noah Higuchi

This face option is descrbed in the asset files as "Asian". Another LI with a surname starting with "Har" which can correspond with the Japanese surname Harada but I already used that and also "Noah Harada" has too many open "A" sounds in a row for my liking. So I just chose a cool sounding Japanese name starting with the letter H because this face option looks Japanese to me.

Ava Lozano

This face option is described in the asset files as "Hispanic". Lozano was the closest Spanish-language surname I could find to Lawrence. The Spanish form of the first name Lawrence is Lorenzo, but it doesn't appear to be used as a surname like Lawrence is in English-speaking countries.

Mason Jiménez

This face option is described in the asset files as "Hispanic". Couldn't find Spanish-language surnames that start with the same sound as Jennings. If my memory is correct I don't think Spanish has that sound? Jiménez has a lot of the same letters though so? That should work?

THE NANNY AFFAIR

Sam Delgado / Samantha Delgado

These face options are described in the asset files as "Hispanic". I considered the Spanish surname de la Torre because it retained the D-L-T-O sounds from Dalton but I thought Delgado sounded cooler……?

THE PHANTOM AGENT

Karan Gill / Sameera Gill

These face options are described in the files as "Indian". I considered the surnames Giri (broadly Indian, common in Nepal I think?) and Ghauri (common in Pakistan as far as I can tell?) for sound matches for Gray but Gill (Punjabi) sounded cooler. Also there was nothing necessarily wrong with the names Callum and Samara other than I don't like them. So I assigned them new Indian names…….

The early morning sun peeked through the curtains, casting a golden hour glow on Marco as he sat on the bed, talking with Analise, who was finishing her makeup in the en suite bathroom. Few people could match her level of composure while swimming in anxiety. 

“What if everyone sucks?” She asks while keeping a straight face, so she can skillfully complete her eyeliner. 

“They won’t, mi amore. You will find another designer to help us prepare for London Fashion Week, I promise.” Marco stood behind Analise, placing his hands on her shoulders and kissing the top of her head. She took a deep breath and leaned back against his chest. “We already have you and Hazel as senior designers, so you have a strong start to the design team. I have no doubt you will be able to find a junior designer of the caliber you deserve.” 

“How do you always know exactly what to say?” Analise smiled. 

“I am Italian, mi bella, I know how to romance you,” Marco whispered in Analise’s ear, sending shivers down her spine. 

“If you keep talking like that we’re going to be late,” Analise whispered in response. 

“Mmm, I take it that is not the impression you want your interviewees to have of you as an employer?” Marco kissed Analise’s neck right below her ear, softly nipping at the skin.

“Uh, no…” Analise answered distractedly.

“Are you sure?” Marco spinned Analise around so she faced him, placing his hands on her waist.

She looked up at him, looking not at his eyes, but at his lips. Unable to give a verbal response, she simply leaned on her tiptoes and closed the distance between their lips. Marco wasted no time picking her up and sitting her on the bathroom counter, to which she swiftly wrapped her legs around his waist.

Marguerite slowly moved her lover’s arm from around her waist, trying not to wake her up. She then slowly got out of bed and quickly changed into the outfit she had laid out in preparation the night before. She was attempting to style her messy hair when she heard Charlie groan.

“Leaving already?” Charlie asked, propping herself up on her elbow.

“If I can get my hair to cooperate, yes.” Marguerite reached for the stray bobby pins on top of her dresser. If she could at least get her hair out of her face, she might be able to pull off a ‘messy chic’ look. 

“You sure you can’t stay just a little longer?” Charlie sensuously flipped her long, auburn hair over her shoulder, exposing her bare chest.

Marguerite looked back at Charlie and distractedly attempted to place a bobby pin in her hair, accidentally hitting her scalp a little too hard. She rubbed the spot on her head as she turned around to look back in the mirror and finish fixing her hair. It wasn’t her best look, but she pulled it off. She’d ask Charlie to confirm, but knew she couldn’t get an unbiased answer from her. “I’m sorry, love, but this is an important job interview.”

“It’s a fashion design job, can’t you be fashionably late?” Charlie smiled at her pun.

“As much as I wish I could, I’d rather not risk it.” Marguerite walked over to the bed and chastely kissed Charlie on the lips. “I’ll be back soon, love.” She dashed out the door and walked the few short blocks to the METAMORPHOSIS headquarters as fast as she could in her heeled boots, which admittedly, was quite fast. Drakovia had trained her well.

On his lunch break, Marco visited Analise in her office while she was between interviews. Her door was open, but he saw her talking with Luz, no doubt about the candidates they’d interviewed so far. “Ciao bella, am I interrupting?”

“No, what’s up?” Analise smiled. 

“Just wanted to check in and see how the interviews are going.” Marco leaned against the doorframe, admiring the beauty of his girlfriend.

“Not bad, but, I don’t know…” Analise looked at Luz. “No one’s standing out.”

Luz nodded in agreement. “I know what you mean. They’ve all been fine, but not exactly what we’re looking for.”

“What exactly is it that you’re looking for?” Marco asked. 

“I want someone with a bit more elegant of a style. I’m pretty balanced in my own style, but Hazel leans more edgy, so it’d be nice to have someone balance us out,” Analise answered. “All of these designers have more modern styles, but I really want someone with something a little more classic and vintage.”

Marco sighed, when he heard the click-clacking of heels on the floor, coming towards Analise’s office. He looked down the hall, seeing someone he didn’t recognize. He turned back to Analise, “I think your next candidate is here and her style looks quite elegant. Regal, even.” 

Analise smiled and said, “Ooh, okay, go away then, so we can interview her.” 

Just after Marco left, Marguerite entered the office. “Hi, I’m Marguerite Thorne, I’m here for an interview.”

“Yes, have a seat.” Luz gestured to the chair in front of Analise’s desk.

“I have to say Marguerite, I was very impressed with your portfolio and rather intrigued by your resumé.” Analise pulled Marguerite's resumé out from the stack of papers in front of her.

Marguerite blushed. “I know my resumé is rather sparse, and this would be my first time working in The States, but I would love the opportunity to learn from you and Hazel.”

“I appreciate that.” Analise smiled. “Where do you get your inspiration?”

“Well, I used to get a lot of my inspiration from my family, but now that we’re so far apart, I’ve started getting inspiration from a lot of other places as well. I’m, uh, friends with a writer and recently we’ve been collaborating on some outfit designs for their characters, which has been pretty fun.”

“That sounds so cool,” Luz said.

“What kinds of characters are they? Like, what genre do they fit into?” Analise asked.

“It’s a fantasy, so the designs are a mixture of royalcore and adventure.”

“That explains the regal themes of your designs.”

“Yeah, that’s… part of it.” Marguerite’s heart thumped as she hoped they wouldn’t ask any more questions about that. She didn’t think her royal history was the best topic of conversation for a job interview. Anything more than what was on her resumé was off-limits.

“What would you say is your biggest strength?” Analise asked. 

Thank God, Marguerite thought. “I’m independent. Given the, er, circumstances of my upbringing, I learned how to be independent. But not so much that it’s a problem! I can work well in teams and groups too, I just… don’t have as much experience with that. But I know as a junior designer I would be following your and Hazel’s lead, which I can totally do.”

“Independence is good. What about your biggest weakness?”

“Does understanding Americans count? You all confuse me sometimes.”

Luz and Analise laughed. “You and Marco would get along. He doesn’t always understand us either.”

“Marco is the Italian photographer, yes?” 

“Yes! It’s nice to see that you know about our staff.” Analise smiled to herself.

“I’ve been a fan of Hazel’s work for years and I loved your line at Paris Fashion Week,” Marguerite confessed.

“You saw our Paris Fashion Week line?” Analise asked.

“Yeah, fashion is a huge passion of mine, and since I’m fortunate enough to be able to afford international travel, I try to go to as many international fashion shows as I can.”

“That’s awesome,” Luz said. “And you pretty much already answered our question about why you want to work at METAMORPHOSIS, unless you have anything you’d like to add?”

“No, I think that’s pretty much everything.” Marguerite laughed lightly.

“In that case, do you have any questions for us?” Luz asked.

“Uh, when can I expect to hear back about your decision?”

“We’ll let you know within a week, maybe two at the most,” Luz answered. “Anything else?”

“No, that’s all, I think.”

“Well, thank you so much for coming down here today. We’ll be in touch.” Analise stuck out her hand, which Marguerite shook graciously.

Marguerite took a deep breath as she exited the building. Probably not the best interview they’d seen all day, but not bad. 

“I want to hire her.” Analise turned to Luz as soon as she could no longer hear Marguerite’s heels on the stone floor.

“I know, she’s so cool! We should still sit through the rest of these interviews just in case, maybe come up with a second pick, but I think Marguerite is our girl.”

Serena Mollicone aveva appena 18 anni quando, il primo giugno del 2001, scomparve ad Arce. Venne ritrovata alcuni giorni dopo incappucciata e senza vita, mani e piedi legati, in un boschetto di Anitrella.

I primi sospetti furono indirizzati verso Guglielmo, il padre di Serena, morto tre anni fa: fu ingiustamente calunniato e persino fermato durante i funerali della ragazza.

Poi per l’omicidio e per l’occultamento di cadavere nel 2003 fu arrestato Carmine Belli, carrozziere di Arce, che prima di essere prosciolto da ogni accusa passò un anno e mezzo in carcere. Cinque anni dopo le indagini furono riaperte anche grazie alla mobilitazione della famiglia di Serena e in quell’occasione, prima di essere sentito dai magistrati, il brigadiere Santino Tuzi si tolse la vita.

Secondo la procura della Repubblica l’estremo gesto fu la conseguenza delle pressioni subite dai colleghi, e nello specifico dall’allora comandante della Caserma di Arce, Franco Mottola, padre di Marco. Quest’ultimo avrebbe discusso all’interno della caserma con Serena il giorno della sua scomparsa, e poi l’avrebbe aggredita in un alloggio in disuso, facendole battere la testa e perdere conoscenza. Il 15 luglio 2022 i giudici della Corte di Assise di Cassino assolsero Franco Mottola, il figlio Marco e la moglie Annamaria dall’accusa di omicidio "per non aver commesso il fatto". Furono assolti perché il fatto non sussiste Vincenzo Quatrale e Francesco Suprano, che erano stati accusati rispettivamente di favoreggiamento personale in omicidio volontario e concorso in omicidio volontario e istigazione al suicidio di Santino Tuzi.

La sentenza non ci ha stupito, poiché figlia di una lunga serie di depistaggi, perizie e controperizie, accuse infondate verso innocenti, indagini svolte in maniera consapevolmente inadeguata.

Solo quando cambierà la società cambieranno gli esiti di certi processi. Quando avremo giustizia sociale ci sarà anche giustizia nelle aule di tribunale: allora anche Serena troverà la pace che merita.
