“Morning, you. I made some Nog.” Marcus smiles.
Those perky lips of his twitch into a full blown beam as he winks at you from behind the dark frames of his glasses playfully.
He puts the hot tray down on the counter and picks up a mug and hands it to you.
“Thanks,” you say, smelling clean and hopefully looking not too dishevelled.
“Dad and I are making Christmas cookies,” Missy says with a toothy grin at you.
“I can see that,” you grin back at the state of the kitchen early in the morning.
"Watch it, kiddo. They're hot!" Marcus instructs his daughter as she eagerly helps scoop them off the tray.
“Try it.” Marcus coaxes you, when he sees you staring at him with wide eyes and possibly a mouth the size of a swirling black hole - and getting bigger and wider by the second.
Rows and rows of snowflake shaped cookies are on cooling racks on every visible space on the counter tops that you can see.
Utterly stunned and bewildered, you’re unable to take your eyes off him as he scurries around the kitchen, familiar with where everything is from muscle memory, juggling bowls and utensils through his thick fingers.
You turn the mug up to your lips and almost pass out. It’s your favourite; nutmeg and chocolate flavourings laced within the strong, punchy Nog. And it tastes incredible. It leaves a Noggy moustache around your top lip.
“Oh my God! That’s so good.” You exclaim, looking at him in astonishment.
Marcus places a plate down in front of you. He’s even managed to make you some breakfast.
He simply pads up to you and runs his thumb slowly across your lip, wiping away the remnants and sucks his thumb whilst his eyes stare into you with a cheeky, burning glint.
It makes your whole reproductive system whine desperately at you.
“You spoil me.” You smirk, taking the cutlery from him he’s already holding out to you as he stirs a bowl beside him with a whisk.
“I like to look after my girls.” He says with flushed cheeks.
Smiling, you tuck into the eggs and crispy bacon. He twists the piping bag up after he fills it and proceeds to frost a batch of cookies on the counter top, which has already cooled. Missy then tops them with candied silver balls.
They work in tandem; precise, unspoken teamwork as they chatter and laugh together. You smile as you watch him finish icing the rest of them; all the while his eyes keep flicking up to you, and you remember that same look in them from last night, running them over your naked body.
Marcus bites his lip as he concentrates; a nub of icing has somehow managed to work its way across his right cheek, just above that dimple, and he clearly has no idea it’s there - and what it’s doing to you.
You feel your tongue begin to throb, sucking on it hastily inside your mouth and wanting nothing more than to walk on over there and lick it off his face crazily.
“La abuela está aquí.” Marcus says to Missy as he wipes his hands down on a dishtowel after checking his watch.
A knock, and then the sound of the back door in the kitchen opening to the cooing sounds of an older woman with a walking cane entering, stirs your heated reverie.
They converse in Spanish as you stand to greet the woman looking over at you with twinkly eyes and a beaming smile.
“So pretty,” she cups Marcus’ face approvingly and she takes your hand and pats it gently as you say hello tentatively.
“Mamá. Por favor deje de.” He’s all a blur as he simultaneously hands Missy her scarf and fishes out some bills from his wallet to hand to his mother. But she refuses.
“You’re not paying for your own Christmas gift, Dad.” Missy corrects him as both of them stare him down into submission.
“Alright, smartass.” Marcus grins much to the dismay of his mother who sighs and berates him in Spanish for cussing in front of his daughter.
Missy reaches up to give him a kiss and so does his mother, and he finally ushers them out of the door and turns to face you, his back resting against it and breathes out in some relief.
You chuckle. “I still can’t get over all this.” You say.
“What?” His features pull into a mild panic.
“This. All of this. You.” You say, your eyes scanning around the organised chaos of the kitchen and the sight of the lounge in the corner of your eye decorated like Santa’s Grotto.
Christmas garlands are draped over the mantle, complete with two stockings hanging above it; both Marcus’ and Missy’s names are stitched onto the front of them delicately.
The Christmas tree has grown in height and width, seemingly overnight - you don’t recall it being that big when you stumbled in giggling with him in the early hours - and is covered with candy canes and twinkling lights in all the Christmas colours.
Underneath there are presents galore stacked up in little cluster’s and tied in pretty, neat bows. It’s like stepping into all your childhood Christmases - the nostalgia, the romance, completely flooring you.
And then there's him, handsome with dark eyes. Muscular in his black t-shirt and looking at you as though he's hungry.
“I thought guys like you only existed in superhero movies.” You say, flippantly.
“Funny you should mention that,” Marcus simpers at you and you smirk.
“You definitely had some super powers last night.” You say, as he pushes forward from the door towards you.
“Oh yeah?”
“Mmhm…” you nod as he reaches you. You reach your finger up and scoop the nub of icing off his cheek and suck it into your mouth.
He blushes as he leans in, hands on your hips as you stay seated on the stool, and kisses you gently.
“It wasn’t too much, this morning?” He presses, tentatively.
He doesn't want to scare you off, you can sense it. Doesn’t want to come on too strong. But the fact you just inadvertently met his mother and his daughter, both in the same morning and both incredibly briefly, pulls at his gut.
He wanted it to be different. But he couldn’t resist holding you in his arms all night either. Whimpering for you to stay, your legs wrapping around his waist as he drove deeper into you.
Grunting into your ear about how good you felt, how he wanted to come so deep inside of you, and he did after what felt like hours of him pulling orgasms out of you first, with fingertips that crackled and buzzed all over your nerve endings.
It’s only your fifth date with Marcus, and you already feel that pull; that magnetism between you that becomes more solid the more time you spend with him.
Learning about him and his secret talents. He was upfront with you over dinner on your first date, that he had a young daughter and was widowed. He still wears his wedding ring and you don’t feel threatened by it. Instead, it comforts you to know that this man is a man that can love hard and forever. And one that is incredibly adept and resilient.
You shake your head. “No. I really like this side of you. Competency kink activated.”
Marcus blushes behind his spectacles and you smile.
There’s so much he wants to tell you, to reveal to you. You’ve no idea that he really is a superhero, and that his hands can do so much more than leave you gasping and panting his name into his bedroom walls.
And there’s so much more that he wants to hear about you too. You’re only beginning to scrape the surface off, but it feels so right regardless.
He feels right.
“I’ll help you clean up.” You say gathering your plate.
“You don’t have to do that.”
“I want to.” You give him a peck and shimmy over to the sink. He watches you go wondering how the heck he got so lucky.
He reaches for the piping bag of icing and there’s still loads of it left in the bowl too.
“What should we do with this, it’ll be a shame to just waste it?” You say.
“I could make more cookies.” He suggests, and then looks at you as you look at him and it’s apparent to you, that you both just had the same, illicit thought rearrange the wiring in your brains.
The same thought, that quickly turns to reality, where you’re dipping your fingers into the bowl and bringing them, smeared with the white icing, up to his lips.
Marcus doesn’t hesitate to open and suck them into his mouth and groans with delight. You watch, enthralled as his tongue slips between your digits as he cleans the icing completely from them.
“Tastes good.” He sighs.
“Yeah? Let me try.”
He does the same for you with his own fingers, but as you lean forward to catch it, it plops down your front.
Chuckling, you go to wipe it away, but he stops; his fingers twisting inside of your own, sticky and wet, and relishing the feel of his thumb rubbing against your skin.
You both glance at your intertwined fingers; smooth and slightly adhesive in their stickiness, neither one of you pulling away.
Marcus leans in closer into your intimate space; those brown planets of his penetrating into you. “I’ll get it…”
He bends forward and his tongue makes sweet contact with your skin, sending shivers immediately bleeding out of it.
Your nipples come alive with electricity as it snaps and crackles around you. He licks it away; sucking it out of the fabric of your shirt that’s resting on the top of your bare breasts, which he’d noticed the moment you had sat down at the breakfast bar, and his pants had felt a size smaller ever since.
You couldn't help it, you couldn't actually find your bra when you dressed, searching for it. Deducing that it was probably stuffed down the side of the bed somewhere. All you remembered was him unclasping it and sucking your nipples into his mouth as you writhed on top of him.
Marcus runs his tongue up your clavicle and collarbone, stopping when the milky, sweet remnants of the icing is gone.
“Tastes really good,” he confirms, lingering just inches in front of your face. You can smell the sweetness on his breath; feel the warmth of it on your face and see your wanton reflection back inside his lenses.
He snaps his head back, reaching for the bowl and spoons out another blob, although this time he takes it in his own mouth, much to your dismay.
The way he fucks.
But then Marcus leans forward and simply presses his lips to yours, dribbling the icing all over them as you’re taken back by his carnal boldness.
Something you know he possesses under the somewhat nerdish outer shell he presents. It’s in the way he moves, the way he kisses.
You can feel it pooling in the corners of your mouth; the cool, velvety texture as it begins sliding over your lips and down your cheeks.
“So sticky.” He muses with a brilliant grin.
Marcus hoists you up onto the counter top easily, muscles straining around his biceps. Your legs now dangle off the edge of it and he parts them, standing in between. His immense hardness presses into the inside of your thigh and it feels marvellous.
You remember it, still feel the ache of him from being buried deep inside you for the first time last night.
He licks the icing off of your cheeks and chin, taking his time in cleaning you up, eyes crinkling around a subtle smirk.
“You’re enjoying this far too much,” you tease.
“I am. Hard not to when you’re delicious.”
He then darts his tongue into your mouth. The taste of him; the taste of the icing makes your head spin in a syrupy mess.
He claws for the bowl once more, and this time dunks all his fingers inside it, bringing them up to your face dripping with sugary goodness.
He inserts them slowly into your mouth, but not before rubbing them over your lips in a way that would make the Devil himself blush.
You suck them clean, all the while holding his eyes; those gorgeous chocolate eyes that drink you all in. He bites down on his plump bottom lip, watching as his fingers swirl around your tongue and begins to fuck your mouth slowly with them as you suck on them eagerly.
“Does that taste good?” Marcus questions, through clenched teeth.
You nod as you suck his index and middle deeply like they’re his cock, popping out of your lips like a lollipop. He feels it wiggle inside his boxers and you can feel it throb against your thigh.
He looks down at your shirt collar; the damp patch from the previous dollop spilt there like an unfurled rosebud. He strips his fingers fully from your mouth; a luscious blend of silkiness and slight tackiness envelopes them.
He slowly begins to unbutton your shirt, but you stop him; clasping it together preventing him from going any further.
“What if they come back?” You say with a brewing grin.
He shakes his head. “Trust me, Missy is shopping with my mom. They won’t be back for hours.” He reassures and you drop your hands as he continues to unbutton.
It’s agonisingly sweet, and as he opens it, your bare, supple breasts greet him, and Marcus audibly groans. Pert, with swollen areolas, looking like a juicy and inviting meal for him to gorge upon to his heart’s content. You rest backwards on your palms and they perk up further for him.
He runs his tongue all across your breasts, licking up the icing and leaving a sticky residue of both his saliva and the icing cooling on your skin.
He picks up the bowl and pours the icing down the middle of your chest and you can feel it running; making that slow, sweet journey towards your navel.
He reaches a nipple and takes it fully into his mouth; the hard, perky bud of it tasting sweeter than the cookies he’s iced. You can feel it dripping down your stomach and it begins pooling at the waistband of your jeans.
After he’s done a delicious and sinful number on your breasts; each one having their fair turn with his attention, Marcus runs his tongue down the track in the centre of them, looking up at you with those bewitching browns.
You run your hand through his hair, ruffling it up and tugging at the roots inside your grip. He pulls your hips further to the edge of the counter top and slides his tongue across your skin just above your waistband.
“I do.” You agree with hooded eyes as his fingers linger on your button.
“I know you taste better than this,” Marcus says, licking his lips.
You pulse as you recall his face between your legs last night, expertly eating you out as you clawed at the sheets.
You raise your ass off the counter top momentarily as he tugs off your jeans revealing you in a black thong. The same one he took off with his teeth only hours ago.
He rolls off your socks; bending down so his nose just brushes past the apex of your thighs, the heat emanating from it and the smell of your sex driving him wild.
He tosses your fuzzy socks over his shoulder casually; one lands inside the sink and you giggle.
Marcus picks up your foot and presses his lips to the side of it, all the while watching you. You have to remind yourself to keep breathing as he kisses up the entire length of your leg.
You lay back on the counter top as he stands; resting upright on your elbows as he hooks his thumbs inside the thong and pulls it off slowly.
He stuffs it inside his pants pocket with a wicked glint inside his eyes. “Mine now,” he grins.
Your pussy is glistening at him and it smells incredibly inviting. The stickiness of the icing has stuck to your skin right above it and that’s where Marcus starts. Kissing you right there, his chin inches from your clit.
His smooches are light and give you goose pimples again. The anticipation of when he will brush against your opening makes you utterly mad.
He runs his tongue around the outside of your mound, all around the skin inside your legs, parting them further to reach inside the crevices. Prolonging the agony before he’ll glide that warm tongue of his all inside your gooey folds.
His head is seen buried in between your legs and unable to escape the view of him no matter where you look.
“Mmm…” You groan, throwing your head back.
You catch your reflection in the chrome pots and pans hanging above the counter top; dangling above your head bearing witness to this incredibly tantalising deed.
It’s shiny with your slick and he bears down on it with his mouth, sending your legs into a frenzied twitch as he gorges.
His tongue finally finds you, darting into the puddle of your sopping core and out again; slipping all over you and lapping you up like a starving dog craving raw meat.
It makes you pant as he spreads your folds open with his sticky fingers, revealing that pert nub of your clit on show to him.
“Oh... God!” You hiss.
“You taste so sweet, querida.” He purrs around your pussy looking up at you, his eyes framed by the thick, black rim of his glasses that get knocked slightly askew as he pushes his mouth onto your cunt.
He dives in for more; flicking his tongue back and forth over your swollen bundle of nerves. He suckles hard on it, sending you buck wild. Spread wide open before him, you look down to see his eyes meeting yours whilst he licks and sucks.
He reaches his fingers up towards your mouth, still clamped on that sweet spot; his cheekbones flexing from sucking on you hard, and slides them inside your mouth. They taste sticky and sweet from the icing remnants still on them.
You bite down on them gently and see his eyes twitch, driving you further into the walls of insanity.
“M-marcus, I’m gonna come…” You utter, his fingers slipping out of your mouth and fondling your breast; pinching your nipple between his fingers as your legs shudder uncontrollably.
You want nothing more than to press them together, unable to handle it anymore and deny what he’s doing to you; how he’s unwinding you so. It’s too much... too intense - fuck, it’s too-
You begin squirming; the feeling beginning to spew out of your pussy where he drinks like he’s parched from you. Your clit buzzes and ricochets under his lips and tongue as he intensifies on you, swirling quicker, sucking that nub harder.
“Oh, don’t stop! Marcus!” You pant, throwing your head back more and arching your back as the feeling begins drowning and pulling you under, twisting you from the inside out.
And he never wants to stop, never wants to stop hearing you moan for him and gasping his name like this.
“Marcus!” You cry out as you release into his waiting mouth, and he swallows the saccharine juices pooling around that sweet cunt of yours.
He rises, his lips shiny with you and licks them frantically like a man possessed. Not wanting to miss any trace of you.
You look up at him, legs still spread wide and eyes like you’re on some kind of drug binge; high as a kite, soaring in the euphoria of the blast that zapped out of your body.
His glasses are smeared with you, a clear gloss across one of his lenses and he smirks as he takes them off.
Marcus then begins frantically pulling his t-shirt over his head; staring you down with an intense hunger as you sit upright under your shaky arms.
He unbuckles his belt once he’s dropped the t-shirt to the floor, revealing those toned abs that shape above the small swell of his tummy, and tanned skin you’d glimpsed before; the perfect dad-bod.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Marcus asks in a voice that drips gold honey, as he unzips his pants.
The coil of dark hair around his belly button draws you in, screaming out at you to lick it.
You slide off the counter top.
You simply smirk and pick up the bowl and approach him.
“I’m hungry.” You reply.
He feels you stroke the firm trunk of his swollen cock as you reach inside his boxers. You run your hand around in there whilst slowly tipping the icing down his chest and he shudders.
He pushes his slacks and boxers to the floor, stepping out of them whilst your hand clamps around his thick shaft, pumping him.
He grips onto your ass cheeks, pulling you into him as the icing slides down his torso between you both; coating your breasts and smooshing it against you both, squelching.
Marcus whines, as he watches you take his icing covered cock inside your mouth and suck up and down the length of him; the icing pooling in the corners and dripping down your chin, pelting your breasts.
You lick his chest and run your tongue down the length of his body, all the way down until your eyes are level with his bulging cock inside your hand.
You simply take the bowl and dunk him inside of it and he hisses out between his teeth, jaw clenched.
“Oh, mierda. You’re so good at that.” He mewls, arching backwards; his hands thrown over his head completely beside himself at the feel of you sucking him off in the middle of his kitchen, which is easily a chef's wet dream.
You work his shaft, running your hand up and down, pumping him as you suck deeper and harder. He can feel himself expanding inside your mouth; the feeling amazingly rampant on his dick.
“Oh God.” He growls as he feels your mouth constrict around him. You release him and take him deep again and he begins to clutch the back of your head, greedy for your divine deep throating.
“Take me all in,” Marcus pleads, watching as you swallow him deeper, feeling him at the back of your throat. Feeling like he’s as deep as he can go without choking you.
But you continue to take him further; all the way down until your lips make contact with the base of him and your nose is pressed into the soft fat of his groin.
He’s gasping; his legs feeling like they could collapse under him at any given moment as you suck him deeper, over and over again. When he feels like he can’t take anymore, you do it again.
Of all the times he had glanced that pretty mouth of yours, he’d never once imagined it could do this and do it so incredibly well.
“I’m going to fuck you so hard after this…” He breathes, losing all his sweet, polite composure as you continue with your momentum, settling into a steady, deep rhythm around his cock.
He feels you giggle; the vibrations of your hum against him feels wondrous. It makes his brain explode, feeling your hunger for it - for him.
Marcus is grabbing at your hair now; winding it around his fist tightly and controlling your depth with his arm, bringing you back to the base of his cock and on tip toes almost as he flexes and rolls his hips into your face as he fucks it.
He feels your hands clamp onto his buttocks and your nails begin to dig into him.
“That’s it… like that. Oh, I’m gonna come!” He whines, feeling himself begin to bubble.
He yelps out in garbled Spanish, as he begins to buckle; his legs spasming as he pumps that creamy foam into your willing mouth and you swallow it down, deep down; savouring his salty taste, cutting through the cloying of the sweet icing.
He pulls out of your mouth; his come and the lingering sweetness mixing together inside of it, creating a pleasing cocktail that you would willingly drink forever from him with eager enthusiasm.
Marcus marvels at you, helping you up onto your feet and kissing you instantly; his body subtly trembling as he floats back down to planet Earth.
He can taste a faint descry of him on your lips and it makes his cock twitch in satisfaction.
“Well, that was unexpected.” He confirms as you pull apart.
“Mmm, tasty too.” You smile as he kisses you.
“You’re incredible, you know that?” he says, pushing your hair over your shoulder.
“Why, because I just gave you the best head ever?" You smirk.
He nods, considering it. “That, sure, and the fact you’re beautiful. And that you want me. And all this… mess.” He says, waving around the kitchen, but you know what he really means as you watch him blush again.
“I think I’m always going to want you, Marcus.” You confirm, your skin sticking to his as he wraps his arms across your lower back.
“Good, because I think I’m going to always want you too, querida.”
He nuzzles his nose against yours before you kiss him, tasting remnants of sweet icing as he holds you closer against him.
Marcus surveys the kitchen; your clothes in sticky heaps. The counter top flooded with icing. It’s a fucking wonderland of edible kink he never wants to leave. Although he’s dreading the clean up.
“What was that you said about kink earlier?” He queries.
“Why, do you think you’ve discovered a new one?” You say, reading his mind.
“Most definitely.” He nods, licking his lips.
“Food kink activated.” You say, punching the air.
You run your hands over his chest, smirking and he feels clammy and sticky to the touch, much like you do.
“Shower?” Marcus murmurs, kissing your shoulder.
“Mmm, sounds delicious.” You smile latching onto his lips again.

Consumer Guide / No.110 / Howzat?!  Cricket broadcaster and magazine editor, Annie Chave, batting the questions from Mark Watkins.
MW : Describe your favourite room in your house...
AC : My new office. It is small with a daybed and a desk. It includes a shelf with my County Cricket Matters magazines & envelopes for posting, a bookshelf of cricket books, several photos of the Taunton pitch and one of Marcus Trescothick. It also has a really precious photo of me with my dad watching cricket when I’m about 8 years old.
From my window, I can see the hills outside Exeter. I’ve painted the room a light grey and it is usually bathed in sunlight. I love the sense of calm I feel when I shut myself in my office.
MW : When setting out to watch County Cricket, what essentials do you usually carry in your bag?
AC : I always have the current book I’m reading, my binoculars and a warm layer. More recently I have my phone and I have a recording device so that I can interview people. I will now always have backdated & current copies of County Cricket Matters but I’m yet to go to a county match since I’ve been doing my magazine so I don’t know how many to take.
MW : What other essentials are usually provided at the ground?
AC: Cricket is the main essential. Tea, cake and beer a close second and familiar faces a third. But a sense of calm, of solace and of healing is also right up there.
MW : What is the most picturesque ground you've visited?
AC : Without a doubt Lynton & Lynmouth. It is a valley in North Devon that is right by the sea with steep hillsides surrounding the pitch where goats precariously balance at incongruous angles.  It is a stunning and timeless setting.
MW : Which ground has the best surface?
AC : Taunton, of course, because it is unique and rarely produces a dull game!
MW : When summer is over, what is your cricket substitute?
AC: Nothing substitutes cricket. There is little to compare with the sense of joy as March turns into April and I find myself anticipating the season ahead. Since I have begun editing County Cricket Matters I have been able to maintain a connection with cricket over the winter and I value that hugely. I also do a lot of reading and writing to fill in the time.
MW : Just before a new cricket season begins how do you usually prepare?
AC : I buy my Playfair Cricket Annual and Wisden and I love The Cricketer round up of the counties. I also choose a county fantasy cricket team at CricketXI.com  and I’ll do a lot of reading up about county signings and retirements so that I am prepared for my new County Cricket Natters podcast, which is a “Match Of The Day” type show that rounds up the week’s championship games.
MW : How useful are you with bat & ball?
AC : Well, I’m worse than useless with the bat. I try to hit everything to the boundary and I can’t get bat on ball. But I have been known to bowl a bit and I’ve upset a few men’s fragile ego by knocking their stumps over with my straight medium pace. My claim to fame is that when I briefly played women’s cricket for  Gunnersbury Women’s Cricket Club, I fluked the wicket of Charlotte Edwards, when she was brilliantly caught off my long-hop. She was only 14 at the time.
MW : ...and how about the rest of your family?
AC: Well now, that’s a question. My father played cricket and kept wicket until he was 76. Nimble and fast behind the stumps right up until he retired. He was a decent bat and when he was younger was a useful seam-up bowler who took a lot of wickets.
My two brothers still play. The younger a decent left-handed bat and very good keeper – the elder a slow bowler who has claimed many wickets and is a good man in to bat for the draw.
My husband is a very useful opener who could have played at a higher level than he did. He began his bowling life as a fast bowler but in later years he became a useful off-break bowler and one hell of a slip fielder. Now in his late fifties he still opens the batting and often with our son.
My son is a left-handed bat who plays the long game, starting steadily and able to accelerate at an alarming pace. He is also a nifty right-arm, off-break bowler who varies his pace and gets a good bit of bounce.
So yes, a fair amount of cricket in our family.
MW : Who is your current cricket heartthrob?
AC : I don’t really go in for heartthrobs but out of current players then I’d go for Jofra Archer.  Past players - Viv Richards. Such brazen talent.
MW : Which cricketer gives you the most heartache?!
AC : Toss-up between Moeen Ali and Jos Buttler because I feel they both have to always justify their test place and yet they are so hugely talented.
MW : You are Test selector for the day, what would be your (current) England eleven?
AC :  This is a really hard question because it depends if we’re playing in England or against a team of left-handers or at a particular ground etc.  I think I’ll make it a team to play in England and I’ll imagine that the team :
Rory Burns
Dom Sibley (don’t like watching him bat though!)
Zak Crawley (a classy bat.)
Joe Root
Ben Stokes (after Headingly in 2019 there is no explanation.)
Jos Buttler (I think a test side with Jos in is a strong Test side but I recognise he’s not the best keeper – that would definitely be Ben Foakes – however, in England conditions I think Jos is good enough and the impetus in the batting is important.)
Chris Woakes (under used and underrated.)
Jack Leach/Moeen Ali (I literally cannot choose between them so dependent on if we need to strengthen the batting.)
Jofra Archer
Stuart Broad
Jimmy Anderson
MW : How would you sell County Cricket to the uninitiated?
AC : I think anything that has such a rich history behind it is worth experiencing. Each ground has its own multi-layered past where momentous games have taken place and iconic players have broken records. The setting of each and every one of the 18 county grounds is unique and full of promise.  I love that sense of past glories that help to define its character and I’m aware that each match I attend could bring a moment of magic or history at any point.
But County Cricket is unique because of its relaxed and friendly atmosphere. You have the ceremony, the classy players, the thrill of the contest, the changing conditions, the double innings, the sense of camaraderie in the crowd but you also have a quieter more respectful experience. You are able to wander around, change seats, chat with friends and with strangers, go to the bar without fighting your way to an endless queue and you have time to daydream, time to read your paper and have a break for lunch.
There is also a great rapport between player and spectator because the pace is slower and the drama comes in short bursts so the player is more relaxed; the spectator better able to engage. There is nothing more life affirming than time alone at a county match.
MW : What radio do you listen to in the car?
AC : BBC Radio 4 for Drama, BBC 5 Live for Sport & BBC 6 Music for my musical requirements and always cricket, or football, if it’s on ; Exeter City is my football team, but I’m partial to Arsenal too.
MW : What was the last good DVD. movie and TV show you particularly enjoyed watching?
AC : As with my reading matter I tend to enjoy science fiction and detective thrillers.
I think the last good DVD I watched was 1917.
It feels like forever since I’ve been to the cinema and I can’t really remember what I enjoyed there last, but it would have been a Star Wars film I suspect.
The last TV series I really enjoyed was Firefly.
MW : Where can we keep in touch?
AC : County Cricket Matters has a website https://www.countycricketmatters.com/ where you can also purchase magazines at the shop
It also has a Facebook group County Cricket Matters and a Twitter Account @matterscounty
I’m on Twitter @anniechave and on LinkedIn and Facebook.

I've seen there are certain characters you dont talk about and I was thinking you should do a character ranking thing I've seen others do it and it would be fun to see which characters are your most and least favourite!
AFHWTSKDHAHJ I really didn’t think anyone was paying enough attention to notice the boys i purposefully ignore this is hilarious to me.
This has been in my inbox forever cause I was scared to answer it tbh but it was fun to come up with the list so I figured I might as well publish it. Under a cut due to length:
(Obviously we all have our favourites and there is nothing wrong with whichever characters you like or don’t, and i love fic writers on here regardless of which characters they write so please don’t think I’m not enjoying reading your [insert character] stories, I definitely still read and love them I just don’t spend much time thinking about him as a character outside of reading fics! I also think the fanon versions of most of these characters are truly superior)
least favourite to favourite:
Maxwell – Just because at this point I know nothing about him and tbh I dislike his general vibe from what I’ve seen.
Whiskey - I just... I don’t like him. I hated the film and I hated the character and I get actively annoyed when I think about him and his stupid hat.
Frankie - Oof sorry please no one hate me for this one I know he’s the fandom soft bf but he’s really not for me. However I definitely like the fanon version of him more, but movie Frankie is not welcome in my mind. He does get a bonus point for piloting a helicopter though, that is hot.
Dave York - He’s middle ground at the moment but I have not seen the film. He’s a dad? And an assassin gone rouge? And that’s really all I know about him so I don’t feel much either way. Did like the way he got on his knees in that one gif though.
Din - I joined this fandom because of him, but he’s definitely gone down on my list a bit since then. Purely because I like other characters, who happily show their faces, a lot more. Sorry Din. He’s great though; lives by a code, has good morals, and chapter 6 Din can have anything he wants.
Veracruz - a great villain and such a dramatic bitch. And looks good doing it. What more do you want.
Oberyn - Bisexual prince of my heart. I gave up on GoT just before his arrival and will never be able to start watching it again, but I know from the small bits I’ve seen that he’s fucking magnificent and I wanna make out with him and Ellaria.
Tovar - He’s so grumpy, it’s brilliant. Morals are kind of a grey area but he is loyal which is a plus. Yes, he needs to wash. But he’s also very grumpy, did I mention that? Hungry bitch. Wonderful scowl. Looks good fighting. Probably plays rough. I like him.
Max - Wow this asshole managed to jump way up the list. There is one person to blame and I think she knows who she is. Max is fun and very much has a flair for the dramatic too. He’s a vampire, which I love of course. He’s a bit evil but we can forgive him that I think because he wears a waistcoat very, very well.
Javi - Moody, and bad at handling his emotions, and complex. Exquisite. Gorgeous and definitely dtf. That moustache (I am known to like a good moustache), the fashion, the crippling depression and overwhelming need to save everyone other than himself. I vibe.
Marcus - Perfect? In every way? Ok mayyyybe a bit overbearing and a little too desperate to be in love, but definitely deserves all the love he can get and more. A good, good man. He talked about pancakes and breakfast for dinner and I was smitten. I think deep down we all want Marcus to be in love with us?
Ezra - 100000/10. I think I am actually in love with this fictional character please send help. He’s a lil bit of a reprobate, probably would rob me blind, but he’s lived a life where that’s necessary so I forgive him. And as long as he seduced me first and then took off with all my possessions I’d be okay with it. He’s loquacious, and excitable, which I think is lovely and I can see how he could come across as annoying but like...I just...love how talkative and charming and adventurous he is. Also deep down he’s a wandering soul looking for others like him and this makes me feel gooey. *sigh* he’s wonderful.

«I’d far rather be happy than right any day.»
Hitchiker’s Guide To The Galaxy
Thought I’d do a some sort of introductory post, for the sake of it - let you know who you’re dealing with :D
About me:
✿ name: Anastasia (Ana, Stasia, Nastia, single-n anna)
✿ age: i’m 20,5 (August 17th, 1999)
✿ relationship status: chronically single af
✿ nationality: Russian
✿ languages: Russian, English, conversational Italian; also attempting to grasp Dutch
✿ an International Baccalaureate survivor (IB was a bitch but i’m glad i did it! My subjects were Art, Geography, Biology (High Level) and Math, English and Italian ab initio (Standard Level))
✿ i’m in my final year of studying towards Bachelor of Arts in Geography in London, but looking to do a Masters course in Public Administration or Urban Development in the Netherlands
✿ Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
✿ favourite colours: navy, lavender, sky blue, burgundy, turquoise
✿ favourite food/dishes: any pasta, avocado & fennel salad, brownies, grapefruit juice, sweet&salty popcorn, stracciatella ice cream
✿ 3 random facts: i’m left-handed (used to be ambidextrous); i attended the same school as Christopher Nolan; i once worked a catering event at McLaren Technology Centre and served Lando Norris (current McLaren F1 driver) because he sat at one of the tables assigned to me
My Interests:
✿ Books: sci-fi, detective novels, historic novels, adventure fiction, biographies
✿ Music: Linkin Park, Imagine Dragons, Mike Shinoda, Nina Nesbitt, Lewis Capaldi, Little Big, Oxxxymiron, Eminem, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, The Kooks, Rag’n’Bone Man, One Direction, various film/play soundtracks (but all in all my playlist is a m e s s, i’m more of a ‘random songs i like’ listener than a ‘single creator i support’ listener)
✿ Travel: I absolutely love visiting new places and discovering cultures and traditions of different countries! My ultimate dream is to visit every country before I pass away (32/197 for now)
✿ TV shows: Merlin, One Day At A Time, Sherlock, Queer Eye, The Dragon Prince, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Star Trek, Disenchantment, Dark Tourist, Formula 1: Drive To Survive, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Lewis, Castle, Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, 2 Broke Girls, Modern Love, Bones
✿ Dark Tourism: yes it deserves a whole another section. Basically I’m fascinated with and attracted to abandoned and eery places that have deep and sometimes dark history (easiest examples would be Auschwitz, Chernobyl, Suicide Forest in Japan etc), because I think it’s those places that carry the most meaning and should be treasured by humanity. I’d love to be able to travel to as many of such locations at some point in life (hence why the whole Dark Tourist show is like my Holy Grail lol). I’m also writing my Bachelors dissertation about The Troubles in Northern Ireland and the significance of dark tourism in our perception of history and the accuracy of its narrative
✿ Formula 1: (again - deserves its own section)
When did I start watching? I recall seeing my mum watch races since maybe 2011, but myself I really got into the sport circa summer 2017, first GP I clearly remember watching was Silverstone that year
Who in my family watches, besides me? my mum was the one that got me into it, dad also used to follow the sport but not anymore
Favourite driver(s): Daniel Ricciardo, Lando Norris, Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc, Daniil Kvyat, Kimi Raikkonen, Esteban Ocon, Alex Albon (+ from F2: Robern Schwartzman, Callum Illott, Marcus Armstrong, Jack Aitken, Mick Schumacher)
Favourite team(s): McLaren
Attended any GPs? Silverstone 2019, my first and only so far

✿ incorrect quotes
✿ fanfiction & drabbles (I do have an AO3 and I hope to be able to write more fics once I’m done with my dissertation in mid-June)
✿ maybe occasional art, if I decide to say ‘fuck it’ and order a new apple pencil (I also have some old goodies stored that I may share at some point, they are mainly F1 though)
✿ shitposting. A LOT of shitposting
✿ poor attempts at memes
(in other words - nothing original and outstanding)
Anyhow, this is me - hello, ciao, привет! I don’t know how long I may be here and how active I’ll be on this blog, but while the fire is there - let’s burn some shit, I guess? 👀

Hello, you have been identified as An Awesome Writer™! Congrats, you rock! So that all of your readers can shower you with some extra love today, please tell us your favourite five (or as many as you want) stories of yours and why you like them and then send this to another five fic authors you think deserve this title!
Thank you so much, Tara!!! Before I list my favorites out of my own work, let me encourage any and all OQ fans who have not jumped on board with your wonderful Happiness Can’t Be Arranged to do so now! It’s one of my current favorites and should not be missed!
As I began making my selections, I realized that even though I’m going to list the fandom and the pairing, you honestly can read them as independent stories. So even if you didn’t watch Downton or you’re not a Oncer or Kabby fan, you could read any of these and still (hopefully) enjoy the narrative and the characters. They’re also all complete works, so no worries about falling in love with something still in progress. (although I will add my favorite WIP’s as an addendum for anyone who’s interested.)
So without any further ado, here are my five favorite pieces I’d like to share with my readers and followers:
1.  In the Company of Strangers
Fandom: Downton Abbey
Pairing: Mary Crawley and Charles Blake (my version of Charles Blake, that is)
Time Frame:  Post S3
Premise:  One year after Matthew’s death, Mary begins to open herself up to life again little by little. An encounter with a certain Charles Blake spurs her forward and challenges her to consider risking her heart again.
Why I love it:  This is my first fic, the one that brought me into writing fanfiction, and it is my heart story for that reason as well as many others. This story is basically my own version of S4, mostly written before S4 ever aired. There are several original characters, and there is still an entire sequel for this narrative in my head. There are also some one-shots based on this verse you can read once you’ve finished the story: Whispers in the Firelight, Father of the Bride, and Fathers and Sons. So if anyone wanted to thrill my soul, they’d read this story. When I still occasionally get a new reader and/or new reviews for Strangers, my heart does a dance especially reserved for this verse. It means more to me than I can ever express.
2.  This One
Fandom:  Once Upon a Time
Pairing:  Regina Mills and Robin Hood
Time Frame:  American Civil War AU
Premise: A widow and her son discover a wounded Confederate Soldier in their barn they set out to save in more ways than one.
Why I love it: First of all, I’m a sucker for historical fiction.  I also enjoyed the challenge of writing Robin’s anger at being disabled, Regina’s stubbornness at not letting him wallow in his own misery, and Henry’s never-failing hope, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them all.
3.  Play Dates and Park Benches
Fandom:  Downton Abbey
Pairing:  Mary and Matthew
Time Frame:  Modern AU
Premise:  Two single parents meet through their daughters who have become best friends in Kindergarten. Romance and daily life ensue.
Why I love it:  This is basically a rom com with fast-paced banter, lots of innuendo, and doses of real-life parenting situations and extended family drama.  There is also an open-verse series of drabbles that accompany the verse called Tales from the Park Bench if you fall in love with this version of the Crawleys just as I have.
4.  Room Enough
Fandom:  The 100
Pairing:  Abby Griffin and Marcus Kane
Time Frame:  Great Depression AU
Premise: Abby Griffin is a widow trying to make ends meet for herself and her daughter during the Depression by taking in borders. Her daughter and another child make a discovery that changes both Christmas and life as Abby and her favorite border Marcus Kane know it.
Why I love it: I wouldn’t say that this story showcases my writing at its best, but it does show my heart and beliefs when it comes to family, second chances and generosity. It’s a story full of hope in the hardest of times that shows that happiness can be found in the strangest of places.
5.  Pulse Points
Fandom:  Once Upon a Time
Pairing:  Regina Mills and Robin Hood
Time Frame:  Modern non-magical AU
Premise: Loosely based on the movie Return to Me, Regina Mills is a pediatrician who has been hiding from life due to the fact that she had a heart transplant. When she meets restaurateur Robin Locksely, her new heart beats in a way she’s never before experienced.
Why I love it:  Italian food, chemistry, banter and Roland trying to give his dad dating advise make me adore this story. Forget slow burn–this romance fires up on instant attraction and deep connections that do face adversity but still hold strong. A continuing verse has been started for this story called Heart of the Matter.
Favorite Works in Progress:
1.  Things Hidden:  Downton Abbey:  Mary and Matthew
I get more requests to complete this fic than any other. Once I finish my original book All Things Sacred, I’m planning to do just that.
2.  The Hungover Games:  Downton Abbey:  Mary and Charles
This is one I want to finish and then possibly see if I could publish it as an independent work. Banter, innuendo, and two stubborn people who are thrown together in the midst of personal difficulties, only to become unlikely allies, friends and lovers.
3.  From End to Beginning:  Once Upon a Time:  Regina and Robin
A teenage romance led to a son Regina gave up for adoption. Twenty years later, that son finds her and is determined to also find his biological father. Personally, I think this story contains some of my best writing.
As a writer, I’d love to hear from you, as well. What’s your favorite work of mine? Why do you like it? What work of mine would you like to see completed?
As for tagging other writers, here goes:  @lillie-grey, @ninzied, @miscreantrose, @broadwaybaggins, @audreysl0ve, @scapeartist and @daggzandarrows. :D

82 Truths!
I was tagged by @theprintedgirl!  Thank you so much for tagging me!
Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, write a post with 82 truths about yourself and then tag 25 people
My Favourites:
Animal: Pomeranians
Colour: Lilac/millennial pink
Drink:Almost any bubble tea
Food: Macaroni and cheese
Time of year: My favorite holiday time is Christmas but my favorite season is spring!
Films: Amelie, Good Will Hunting, The Piano, probably La La Land, and loads of others!
Book: Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, Hunger by Roxane Gay, and loads of others!
Subject in school: World History
Flower: Peonies
Fruit: Mangoes
About Me:
I’m 22
I work at an institute which trains people in foreign affairs careers.
I live in Washington, DC, U..S. of A
I have a BA in International Studies (which I got in 3 years instead of 4, which ended up being a great decision)
I am originally from a rural town in Western New York (with a population of only about 1,500 people, a Native American reservation, and a sizable Amish population - YES, I AM STILL TALKING ABOUT NEW YORK AND NOT SAY, INDIANA).
I speak intermediate level Mandarin and lived in Beijing, China for a semester abroad.
I am biologically an only child but I’m very close to my step family, in which I am the middle child with both one older and one younger step-brother.
I really love stories which is why I love reading so much, in addition to being a huge cinephile.
I wanted to be a writer for my whole life until I was 16, when I realized I could put my love of studying world history and cultures toward diplomacy one day. I still really want to be a writer and write a book.
I curated a Twitter account for an American ambassador a few years ago.  It was really insightful how many revisions I had to pass by people before just a 180 character tweet could be posted, let alone a statement or interview remarks.
Most recent:
Phone call: Momma
Text: My best friend
Food: I got delivery from this burger restaurant I love.  It’s shoestring French fries covered in parmesan cheese, scallions, an over easy egg, and chipotle mayo.  I had a particularly busy day at work (this is our busiest time of the year) and thought I would treat myself.
Drink: Water
Book: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Purchase: The french fries I discussed in Answer #3
Song I listened to: Probably “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift.  I’m not sure I like it but it’s catchy as hell.
Reason to be excited: I interviewed for a promotion last week and am waiting to hear back!
TV show: THE BOLD TYPE, you guys.  I love it.
Obsession: Books!
Memories:
Happiest: When I was 17 I attended a college prep program for honors students at Boston University.  I made my first lifelong friends and got to experience living outside my 1,500 person town for the first time.  It was major culture shock in the best way.
Saddest: My mom has a chronic illness and it hurts me whenever I see her in extreme pain or in the hospital again.
Strangest: Well I guess this is recent: Last night I had a dream I was watching a movie in which Matt Damon purposely got stuck in an elevator and spent the whole time trying to get out.  I woke up at 4 AM this morning because of it and it took me about an hour to get back to sleep because I wasn’t comfortable with how claustrophobic my bed felt.
Scariest: I almost drowned in a kayak when I was learning how to get out of whitewater kayak gear.
Funniest: On a July trip in California with my family, we were talking about people with eating disorders for some reason and the Google version of Alexa on my step-dad’s phone was activated somehow, but since the phone was also navigating us in the car, it couldn’t search anything.  So it just goes, “I’m sorry, I can’t help you with anorexic women.”  It’s one of those occurrences where it might of been just way funnier in the moment than describing the whole thing.
Exciting: Putting my entire life in two suitcases and moving to China.
Proudest: As I said earlier, 3 years instead of 4 for my BA, fuck yeah.
Boring: At my college, students had to take a lot of economics classes in order to major in international studies. Not titillating stuff.
Biggest Fears
Dying
Roller coasters
Failure
Kidnapping
Do scary movies count?  lol
Excited for in Life:
Travelling more abroad
Making more friends with new interests, ideas, and cultural backgrounds
Finding a lovahhh
Becoming a diplomat
Having a kid (or kids, who knows)
Eating really expensive food (I’m kind of a foodie)
Reading great books
I am always…
Checking my email
Reading
Overthinking EVERYTHING
Doing something dumb on my phone
Messaging my mom
Looking at Bookstagrams and being like “How? HOWWW?  HOW ARE THESE PICTURES ALL SO AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL AND DETAILED?”
Telling myself I won’t have something with chocolate in it...then eating something with chocolate in it.
Checking the news and weather.
Going over different paths my life could take
Messaging my friends the most random shit.
I wish I was, and I eventually will be…
A diplomat!
More organized
Confident and self-assured
Better at managing money
A speed reader
CHARMING!
...AND ALSO SUPER HILARIOUS IN AN EFFORTLESS WAY
Talented at doing anything with my hair
A published author
A self proclaimed bad-ass bitch
Favourite Things about Myself:
I am a very nice and open person, although I am a little shy at first
I am incredibly opinionated and often get a little too ranty, but a ton of people love me for it.
Cute butt.
I’m fiercely intelligent, especially when it comes to knowing random information.
I’m very good at styling/designing things. I’ve got an artistic eye.
I try to encourage people and use my sense of humor to the best of my ability in that.
My steadfast belief in universal values/what’s right.
I always want to go to new places.
I seek out knowledge wherever I go.
Finally, my blog…
It makes me so happy!  It has been a relief to come here when my days have felt monotonous.

The Untold Truth Of Always Be My Maybe

The Untold Truth Of Always Be My Maybe
Tumblr media
There is no maybe about it: at all times Be My probably is one Netflix long-established film you must undoubtedly watch. Starring Ali Wong and Randall Park, the film has been hailed via critics and viewers alike as a recent and hilarious success. So just how did this gem of a movie come to look the sunshine of day? For those who proposal the on-screen chemistry between Ali Wong and Randall Park was pretty super, you’re not on my own. Correctly, a part of that possibly on account that the comedic duo goes back a very long time, all the means back to school at UCLA, if you can consider that! They met within the late Nineteen Nineties at a pal’s position, the place mentioned pal was once internet hosting a fried rice cooking competition, as pronounced by The Washington put up.The two were additionally part of the LLC Theatre enterprise, a comedic performing arts crew that Park co-established. And in a twist that confirms all too evidently that truth is stranger than fiction, perpetually Be My maybe premiered at the Regency Village Theater in Westwood, which is where UCLA is placed. The surreality of that was not lost on them, either. Wong informed variety that being in Westwood was once, quote, "a trip." "superb. High-quality, as always. Ta-ta, Julianne!" "ok, to start with, you sound like rely Chokula." For as much acclaim as normally Be My perhaps is receiving, the movie could by no means had been made if now not for a fateful 2016 interview Wong did with the new Yorker. Wong used to be riding excessive from the success of her Netflix particular child Cobra, and he or she acknowledged that she and Park had been seeking to make a precise movie for years, their, quote, "version of When Harry Met Sally." Of course, by means of their "variation," Wong presumably intended an Asian take, as there aren’t exactly a ton of rom-coms in the market with Asian-American leads. It didn’t take very long for the phrase to get out about it after that, and boy did the web reply. Vulture even put out a plea to Hollywood, begging to get the movie green lit. Park recalled in an interview with The Washington post: So Wong and Park received to writing the script, along with screenwriter Michael Golamco. The rest, as they say, is history! When Harry Met Sally wasn’t the only movie that Wong and her crew appeared to for inspiration even as birthing always Be My possibly into existence. The 1992 famous person-studded comedy Boomerang, starring Eddie Murphy, used to be additionally a movie Wong had in intellect when fleshing out the characters and meditating on the comedic aspects of the film. She instructed Rolling Stone: moreover, Wong favored that the premise of Boomerang used to be black staff working at a black promoting company, anything she found clean, and, quote, "empowering." She dished: The late 2010s marked an uptick in the amount of movies starring Asian-American actors, like loopy wealthy Asians and To all the Boys I’ve loved before. Continually Be My might be is a welcome addition to these groundbreaking movies, and it quite is the first of its form.Director Nahnatchka Khan gushed in an interview with variety: The equal holds true for Jordan Peele’s Us, a horror movie predominantly starring black actors. Furthermore to that, Park and Wong emphasized that it was equally fundamental that they make a amazing film, as individuals wouldn’t wish to see it in any other case, it had to be great. Wong joked: invariably Be My perhaps is stuffed with many little moments that Asian american citizens resonated with in a specified manner, similar to Judy telling Sasha: "We Koreans use scissors for the whole lot." and Sasha preparing unsolicited mail musubi for dinner. Those moments are major, as they allow families descended from immigrants to peer bits of their possess daily lives on the monitor in front of them. Whilst that used to be certainly intentional, Park additionally desired to make certain that the film wasn’t rife with stereotypes or populated via characters that viewers would expect. The actor defined to The Washington submit: To that end, they sought to make the relationship between Marcus and his dad, who does not speak with an accent, affectionate and close. "howdy. At some point, you are gonna must take a threat on whatever, son." That flies in the face of the stereotypical portrayal, which suggests Asian moms and fathers with thick accents. One of the crucial many hilarious and bitingly smart elements of the movie is Marcus’ band, good day Peril. With intelligent lyrics and fun performances from the actors, you cannot aid but crack a smile when the band takes the stage. And sure, that is the noted Bay discipline rapper Lyrics Born on stage with Marcus. Plus Dan the Automator honestly produced all of the hiya Peril songs, in step with Pitchfork. And get this: Park even wrote his own lyrics. It most commonly helps that he had his own ’90s hip-hop band, unwell again, to use as concept. You might no longer have caught it, however Park very intentionally named the band good day Peril for a purpose. In an interview with Pitchfork, he published: How intelligent are you able to get? It used to be pretty unimaginable to overlook that Daniel Dae Kim performed the role of Brandon Choi, Sasha’s fianc. You would have well-known him from his work in misplaced as Jin-Soo Kwon or possibly as Jack Kang in insurgent, the sequel to Divergent. While we’re over here questioning why he would not have his possess James Bond film but, Kim used to be simply hugely stoked to be cast in Wong and Park’s movie. In an interview with form, he gushed: Plus he says he loved attending to play a jerk. Hey, he possibly the sweetest man in real lifestyles, however Kim seems to be a professional at enjoying jerks! "So, you need me to head to San Francisco alone?" "that’s the great thing about it. We would each be in new environment. We might be aparttogether." And Wong knew what she was doing with this casting, too. The actress shared: You could have noticed some subtle cultural details in continually Be My probably. For instance, within the establishing, Sasha and Marcus remove their sneakers when they come indoors, only replacing them when it’s time to leave. That’s corresponding to Judy pointing out that Koreans use scissors for the whole thing. However a few of these touches were the work of director Khan, whose movie debut is arguably a visionary one. She wanted to make certain that the time and location, the San Francisco Bay discipline in the ’90s, was reflected within the film, mainly for Asian-american citizens. She defined in an interview with the los angeles occasions: So, should you felt transported to a San Francisco where the rent wasn’t so darn excessive and there weren’t hipster coffee shops all over the place, that’s the motive why.Kimchi stew. Lemongrass dumplings. Free shumai. And yes, even venison sous vide, complete with headphones… "Comes with headphones so which you could hear the sound of the distinct animal you might be about to eat, illustrating nature’s life to death cycle." In so many scenes in invariably Be My perhaps, food plays an most important position, each as a marker of cultural identity and a drive that can either convey individuals collectively or destroy them apart.Food is fundamental in each tradition, and, on this film, viewers are treated to the cuisine that’s gigantic in Asian-American traditions, corresponding to Korean and chinese food. Lest we omit that Sasha is a chef, and a very successful one at that! To that end, it makes complete sense that they employed famous person chef Niki Nakayama as a consultant for the movie. Director Nahnatchka Khan advised the los angeles times: Who’s hungry now? All of the places they filmed within the film had a enormous feel of situation, person who felt acquainted, especially when you grew up in the Bay field within the ’90s as Wong did. And although Park grew up down south in l. A., he put a number of himself into his character, Marcus. In an interview with NPR, Park shared: And, you realize what? That fairly comes via. Suppose it or now not, Park actually brought facets of his loved ones onto the film set: above all, these artwork. He defined: All of that helped make things believe as exact and nearly the heart as viable for him. When you saw the trailer before gazing always Be My maybe, you knew Keanu Reeves was going to show up at some factor. But in the event you did not, you might have fallen out of your chair when he turns up as a satirical version of himself as Sasha’s date."Jesus Christ." "Oh my God, you are bleeding!" "You see how convenient that was once, Marcus?" recollect that dinner scene? Yeah, it was once clearly one of the vital funniest moments of the movie, whole with lines from Reeves like the characters’ $6,400 meal costing "not up to a residual paycheck from my hit film speed." Of course, Wong and Park wrote the function explicitly for Reeves with out understanding if he’d simply take it. But much to their shock, he did, and he reportedly was a whole blast to work with. Wong had some unique reasons at the back of this casting, too. In an interview with Vulture, she confessed: verify out certainly one of our newest movies right here! The greatest screenshot of all time
Ok, so I was rewatching Sing because ✨anxiety✨ and ✨comfort media✨ things when I captured the greatest screenshot of all time.
Just. Look. At. This.
Tumblr media
Don’t understand what makes it so perfect? Well then, let me explain!
One, the facial expressions are kinda funny so that’s enjoyable. But more importantly, number two, look at Johnny. Just look at the sweet boy.
I never noticed it before but in this screenshot it almost looks like Johnny jumps into his hug with his dad and how he’s on his tip toes for the rest of it (along with him doing the same thing in Sing 2), this means Johnny was so happy to see his dad he literally threw himself into that hug.
And Marcus looks so happy! Seeing his son alive, well, and happy to see him must have been an immediate relief. We saw how stressed he was when he realized what he’d done and he must have been worrying about Johnny’s reaction the whole way to the theatre. He had essentially disowned him and gone no contact for at least a few days, if not weeks. And yet Johnny was thrilled to see him and Marcus immediately smiling at the sight of him was adorable.
Johnny’s way of hugging his dad is literally throwing himself at him and leaving it up to him to stop him from hitting the ground. And Marcus always does.
My favourite fictional father and son everyone, look how cute they are. <3

Five visions for the future of music
Welcome to the (not so) distant future.
The year is 2018.
Music is changing fast, but can the humans keep up?
Here’s a handful of possible outcomes.
Go boldly everybody.
1) Your favourite singer is not real
One of Japan’s biggest pop stars Hatsune Miku (above) is not a real person.
But that small detail didn’t prevent the humanoid singer from releasing another new music video last week.
She may also have some duets lined up – given that she’s already collaborated with Pharrell.
If the name of the fictional J-pop act is unfamiliar, then try this one on for size:
Roy Orbison.
The Big O died in 1988 but now his 3D hologram world tour will come to life, alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, on 8 April in Cardiff.
His son, Roy Orbison Jr, who hopes his dad’s avatar will one day have a Las Vegas residency, says: “We’re really excited we got the opportunity to do this: the first big tour of a deceased artist with a hologram.
“I don’t think it’s possible yet for the hologram to walk out into the audience so there’s definitely a lot of potential for live application.”
He adds: “But most importantly this is just the icing on the cake.
“The cake is those amazing songs that my dad wrote and his incredible voice.”
Rapper, activist and actual woman M.I.A believes virtual alter egos can benefit living musicians too.
“Artists are at the cusp of embracing AI. But what is political activism in AI phase?” she pondered at Meltdown.
“I think ‘Should I make my next video in virtual reality instead of me?’. I find that sexy – new technology.
“I could take the hippy route of singing to people face-to-face… or I could stream my virtual shows to people’s bedrooms around the world so you can be at my show wherever you are.”
She went on: “The amount of data AI can pick up on is so fast growing that the future me will be way better anyway!
“But will the future me be less politicised?”
Speak to James Skelly of Merseyside psych rockers The Coral and he’ll tell you he would have made the digital changeover years ago.
He says: “We wanted a holographic version of The Coral, when we were first doing well in about 2002, to tour Japan as us.
“If there was a group that could do another gig, as well as us, and we could split the profits, I’d be up for it!
“But you need songs – it’s always about songs.”
For all we know, the future may have already started for Guy Garvey of Manchester band Elbow.
“How do you know that we are not already holographic?” he quips.
Well, quite.
2) The live parameters have shifted
From the hippies at Woodstock in 1969 to Ed Sheeran and his loop pedal at Glastonbury this summer, the festival experience has been forever changing.
Bluedot Festival – Photo: BLUEDOT FESTIVAL
By next summer, virtual and augmented reality – as well as “3D mapping” – could mean they are more interactive than ever before.
Ben Robinson, creative director of Bluedot Festival at the Jodrell Bank Observatory (you know, the one in Hitchhikers Guide), is giddy at the thought of “shifting the parameters”.
“We had Orbital playing [in 2017] who, 20 years ago, were the very cutting edge, looking at lasers and light production making it more than just some guy standing on a stage,” he says.
“Now today the incorporation of visuals and the production that goes on is quite insane.
“3D mapping manipulates the look and feel of a 3D object. It’s been done on castles to make them look like they’ve fallen down.
“Now people can experience being on the stage with the artists. Or the gig could move off the stage.
“We are a generation spoiled with possibilities.”
Animated heroes Gorillaz hosted their own one-day festival, Demon Dayz, at Margate theme park Dreamland last summer.
Co-creator Jamie Hewlett told the Daily Star that he and Damon Albarn may be getting “too old” but Ben sees no reason why the show can’t go on without them.
“In the past a band’s legacy was they left a record and VHS recording of a concert. Now they can leave the tools for someone else and be just as effective 50 years in the future.”
3) The recording studio is in your laptop
Noel Gallagher confessed to Radio X’s John Kennedy last month that he had never actually met the bass player on his new album Who Built The Moon?
Jason Falkner was doing his thing down the line from LA, while Noel was having his mind blown in Belfast and London.
Noel said: “It was the entire opposite to the thing I’ve ever done. My thing with Oasis was being in a room with a bunch of people and eye contact.
“Here I am at two in the afternoon talking to a guy on an iPad and for him it’s four in the morning and I can hear the song coming through his speakers and he’s saying ‘What do you think of this? Maybe if I do that?’
“And I’m like ‘this is so far out it’s unbelievable’.”
Butch Vig, former Nirvana producer and drummer with Garbage and 5 Billions in Diamonds, confirms such technology is also now available to new bands, who are short on cash but long on distance and imagination.
“There’s a new editing programme where you can be working on the same song in real time in different cities,” he says.
“You have to be creative with the tools you’ve got and, because of the digital technology, everybody can have a really powerful recording studio in your laptop.”
Beth Orton (who incidentally describes Hatsune Miku as “the music industry’s perfect woman”) embraced such kit on her latest album Kidsticks and in some cases preferred computer-generated sounds over actual instruments.
She says: “The ability to play the keyboard and the sound to be any sound possible was very freeing. That would influence the melodies that you created.”
But just a little of that human touch still goes a long way in the creative process.
“Even making an electronic record it was about the connection with the producer and the other musicians.
“I personally like a bit of imperfection.”
4) There’s a direct line between you and your favourite act
Jack White’s Third Man Records reward their subscribers with deliveries of exclusive limited edition pressings.
DJ Gramatik went a step further last week by becoming the first artist to “tokenise” himself, meaning fans who buy the token using the cryptocurrency Ether can potentially share in his future revenue.
Jeff Smith from music databse Discogs believes such block chain technology will “set a direct line from creator to consumer to be able to send things directly, without any form of piracy”.
He says: “We could see subscription platforms, like Third Man records, being able to send out Jack White exclusives without them being traded or shared in any way.”
That’s not to say that fans won’t still crave physical records and material from their new crypto-favourites.
“We’re definitely seeing a universal unplugging and physical music becoming a major part of peoples lives again.”
London hip hop star Loyle Carner is not currently available in token form and he’s happy to keep fans waiting for the follow-up to his Mercury-nominated 2017 album Yesterday’s Gone.
“A song comes out and people say ‘I like that – OK now I’m bored of that. Where’s the next one?’,” he explains.
“Singles are like chapters from a book and if you want to hear my music you’ve got to wait for it.”
5) But new music technology will not be for everyone
For all the head-bending future technology, for many, music always was and always will be about the people… man.
Neil Hannon from the Divine Comedy says: “I’m going to come across as a complete Luddite now but I believe music only gets worse the further you take people and humanity out of it.
“I foresee if they insist on going down this non-existent route then you’re only going to get another punk of some description that rewrites the rulebook.”
Punks like Irish rockers The Strypes maybe?
Bass player Peter O’Hanlon says: “Our fresh approach will be that we just come and play the gig! Everybody else is flying across the stage and we just stand in front of you and play.”
Guitarist Josh McClorey agrees: “The other stuff is cool, but it’s a gimmick.”
Compatriot Lisa Hannigan won’t be found jamming over the internet or appearing live as a hologram anytime soon.
“I don’t think that’s going to be my bag of chips!” says Lisa.
“I just like rocking out a jam with my friends. I can barely work the camera on my phone.
“Cancel the Lisa Hannigan Hologram tour. We’ve lost the cable!”
Just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should and as we hurl ourselves into the new age, fellow folkee Marcus Mumford prefers to hold on to the sacred spirit of the past.
He says: “I don’t know what the future of music is going to look like but if I’m not playing I don’t want no part of it.
“If it sounds good and people are having a good time, then it’s enough for me.”
