Siam what I am
THE KING AND I Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham, Wednesday 1st March 2023 There is no king on the poster, only the I, selling the show on its female lead, Call The Midwife’s Helen George.  Unfortunately, for this press night performance, Ms George is indisposed (perhaps a midwife crisis) and so there are more than a few disgruntled childbirth fans in the auditorium tonight.  To my mind, the show…

Who are your favorite feisty, strong, independent Christines? I really liked Kelly last night physically holding the Phantom off of Raoul. That was such an excellent moment, and I usually don’t pay attention to Christines.
Oh yes, that was a great moment of Kelly Mathieson's, though to be fair, that's also quite common for London Christines - I've seen Leila Benn Harris and Gina Beck shove the Phantoms away, I've seen Rachel Barrell push herself between the Phantom and Raoul, I've seen Harriet Jones just insert herself in and drive the Phantom off, and so on; it was basically the blocking in London before the shut-down.
But anyway, as for other strong Christines, here are a few more! Links provided when available:
Rebecca Caine (far more so in Toronto)
Dale Kristien (in a stiff sort of way)
Irasema Terrazas
Meredith Braun (in Act II, in an "I will murder you" sort of way)
Julia Moller
Rachel Barrell (more so with John Owen-Jones)
Elizabeth Loyacano
Jennifer Hope Wills
Leila Benn Harris
Ana Marina
Julia Udine (more so in the restaged tour)
Kaley Ann Voorhees (particularly in the 'Final Lair')
Maria Coyne (in a shouty sort of way)
Ali Ewoldt (especially later in her run)
Meghan Picerno

In a new shocking twist of the pee girl situation, Sparky seems to be playing a game of two face online.
Last Wednesday I reached out Ian Coyne on Twitter so that Maria could finally get some actual help and not sound like she’s being threatened. Ian Coyne seemed to be a friend of Maria’s and thought he would actually do something.
*Do note that once my username for tumblr is mentioned. Take everything Ian says with 1000 grains of salt.

Don’t be fooled. Ian is not going to help Maria in actual way.

So, a few days ago, I was dmed by a former friend of sparky's, Pip. They wanted to share their experiences and insights concerning sparky. In the interest of not sending a known harasser after them, I'll summarize our conversation instead of dumping a bunch of screenshots:
- so pip and sparky met in a group chat. Pip eventually left the group chat on bad terms, and sparky was the only one to reach out, making her one of pip's few friends. (This leads me to think that sparky specifically befriends people in vulnerable positions. The exact reason she does this though, i can only speculate on)
-In return, pip ignored the red flags they saw from sparky. The majority of those flags being that sparky likes underage ships, particularly ones that had an abusive or incestual element. (Which explains the underage owl house nsfw with the incest sounding caption)
- pip isn't interested in miraculous so they rarely talked about it, but they had heard of maria in passing. Sparky also explained her little blackmail scheme to them (which i think is interesting, because i had the impression that the scheme was made up on the spot, but this makes it sound more premeditated)
-pip believes that sparky is definitely enabling maria and all her behaviors. I asked if they knew if sparky had like, a history of hating harriyanna or if it was a new thing to support maria, and they said no, she didn't, and that the hate was a little odd
-i also asked them if the twitter dms between sparky and sanyu sounded like sparky and for their general thoughts on the messages. They said that it definitely sounded like sparky's manner of speech, particularly when she feels threatened. They also said that it sounded like sparky was trying to gaslight sanyu, and that sparky has a habit of gaslighting and manipulating people
- also i asked if pip knew anything about why sparky hates lily orchard but not maria (seeing as they're nearly the same) but they're not really sure either, seeing as they don't much about orchard. Nearest they can figure, sparky is too obsessed with maria to consider anyone else (i also think that orchard is too inaccessible, so she resorted to hating her) Pip also said that they think that sparky is terrified of losing maria, partially because she has very few friends
- and pip confirmed that twitter user ian coyne was sparky and that her pronouns are she/her, so i better not see any of y'all misgendering sparky. Regardless of her crimes, don't be transphobic

SOM E FÚRIA (SOUND AND FURY)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rede Globo – 11pm from the 7th to the 24th of July 2009
12 chapters
Screenplay by Susan Coyne, Bob Martin, Mark McKinney
Adaptation by Fernando Meirelles
Directed by Fernando Meirelles, Gisele Barroco, Toniko Mello, Fabrizia Pinto and Rodrigo Meirelles
General Direction of Fernando Meirelles Co-Production O2 Filmes
SINOPSIS
Friends Dante, Oliveira and Ellen have their lives impacted after a performance of “Hamlet”, when Dante, who played the protagonist, freaks out and leaves in the middle of the funeral scene of Ophelia, Ellen’s character. At the time, Dante and Elen were in a romance and Oliveira was at the height of his directing career. After the controversial performance of the play, Dante disappears from their lives for seven years. Oliveira assumes the artistic direction of the renowned Companhia de Teatro do Estado, CTE, in which Ellen is the star, and Dante is in charge of a small and bankrupt theater company. On the opening night of “A Midsummer Night's Dream”, Oliveira directs the show for the seventh time and Ellen plays Titania for the fourth time. The theater is packed, but the performance draws warm applause and embarrassed laughter. Backstage, Oliveira watches television next to the caretaker Naum and, during a news show, sees Dante being evicted for failing to pay his theater. He reminisces about his friend and, after the performance, calls Dante. They exchange barbs and accusations about the fate that each took after the fateful performance of “Hamlet”.
Disillusioned, Oliveira walks aimlessly through the streets when he is run over by a ham truck and dies. From this moment on, Dante's life takes a turn at the middle of his friend's wake: he accepts to assume the artistic direction of CTE. Dante wants to pick up the pieces of his past and move on. In the company, Elen is the one who is most tormented by the arrival of Dante. Her career goes through a moment of transition, in which she says goodbye to the roles of princesses to face the queens and watches the arrival of new talents, which frustrates her and makes her insecure. On the other side is Ricardo da Silva, CTE's CFO, worried about the bills and the poor performance of Shakespeare's season. Sparing no effort to boost the box office, he joins Graça, an employee of the Secretary of Culture who has no qualms about getting what she wants – and who, in this specific case, intends to transform the company into a great musical company. To attract a larger audience to the theater, Ricardo hires publicist Sanjay and young actor Jacques Maia, a famous telenovela heartthrob, but with no experience on the stage.
Dante faces the fury of veteran actors, who turn up their noses at the new member, and still has to deal with Jaques' unorthodox ways in rehearsals. The most affected in the new montage of “Hamlet” is Elen, who plays Gertrude. She makes no effort to help her colleague and disdains the montage. On the other hand, Kátia sees her chance when the protagonist leaves, handing her the role of Ophelia. While Ricardo's ideas seem misguided, on the other hand, he accepts, often out of fear, Dante's strange methods of conducting rehearsals and castings.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Fernando Meirelles was inspired by the Canadian series Slings And Arrows – produced by Rhombus Media Inc. – to make Som e Fúria, a miniseries produced by Rede Globo and the production company O2, by Meirelles. Launched in Canada in 2003, Slings And Arrows was created by Susan Coyne, Mark McKinney and Bob Martin. Following the success, the series was also shown in the United States, in 2005, and from there it won the world. The responsible for the cast of the miniseries was Cecília Homem de Mello, who also acted as the character Ana. Some actors were better known to the public – such as Felipe Camargo, Andrea Beltrão, Pedro Paulo Rangel, Daniel de Oliveira, Maria Flor, Dan Stulbach, Regina Casé, Débora Falabella, Rodrigo Santoro and Paulo Betti. There were also many new people or people coming from the theater: Gero Camilo, Maria Helena Chira, Juliano Cazarré, Antônio Fragoso and Cecília Homem de Mello herself.
The recordings took place at the Teatro Municipal de São Paulo, in other parts of the city and in studios, where a replica of the theater's main stage was carefully built. Som e Fúria was elected by the APCA (Paulista Association of Art Critics) as the best television miniseries in 2009. Felipe Camargo was awarded as the best actor of the year. In November 2009, the miniseries DVD arrived in stores.
