Blog Name - Road Trip to Katra ( Shri Vaishnodevi)
Vaishno Devi is beautiful temple situated in a cave in the Trikuta mountain in Jammu and Kashmir, the Vaishno Devi temple is one of the most popular pilgrimages in India. Located at an altitude of 5200 feet, you have to go through a trek of nearly 12 km from the base camp at Katra.
Vaishno Devi is open throughout the year, but the best time to undertake the journey is between the months of March and October. A lot of pilgrims visit Vaishno Devi between these months as the weather is best.
The trek is a bit steep but you can take enough stopovers to complete it.
How to Reach Vaishno Devi?
- Jammu is well connected through flights to rest of India and you can take a bus from Jammu towards Katra
- Take a direct train to Vaishno Devi( Katra) from Delhi
- Take a direct Bus from Delhi/Haryana/Punjab
Day 1
Delhi
It was a sudden plan for the trip 29th October 2019 and we friends decided to visit Vaishno Devi. We had a wait listed ticket of a train from Delhi but it never got confirmed.
We were almost about to drop the plan but all of a sudden decided to visit Kashmiri gate and took a direct private bus to Vaishno Devi. We spent the entire night in the bus listening songs and playing different types of games.
Day 2
Katra
Reached Katra in the morning around 9 AM. We took a shared room, freshen up had our breakfast. We decided to rest for few hours after that as we were extremely tired with the journey. Everyone had a sound sleep and by evening we were ready to start the trek.
We started the trek at 8 PM. The trek is a little tough but an average person can complete the same within 6 hours. There were also stairs that you could use to ascend.
There are few other means of travelling as well like ponies and helicopter but we decided to do it ourselves.
Saying in loud tone " Jai Mata Di" we kept on moving.
Me and my friend were real quick we just got into our trekking zone and within 5 hours we reached the temple. It took around 2 hours more for rest of our friends so we both decided to sleep on the pavement till the time everyone joins us back.
The temple, the lightnings, the hills were looking so beautiful.
Day 3
Vaishno Devi
We had amazing darshan at the temple and by 8 AM we were free to start our journey down. But we decided to go few KMS above to a temple called Bhairo Ghati. The trek was damn steep and it took us about 2 hours to reach the place as we were tired.
Then started our long way back to Katra again. As we were tired so took us a bit more time to reach Katra from Bhawan .
We reached at the starting point by 7 PM got to our rooms and took our Luggage. We boarded a bus back to Delhi at 10 PM.

TECHNICAL REVIEW OF AMAZON ECHO SHOW 10:
By Anshita Choudhury
Amazon’s Echo Show lineup of devices has gone through several design changes since its launch in 2017. The biggest one is the 3rd Gen Echo Show 10 that just recently launched.
Design & Hardware
While the new Echo Show 10 doesn’t have the spherical of the Echo (2020), it does takes inspiration from past Amazon devices. The fabric-covered main rotating base that houses the speakers and other internals looks like the Echo Studio while the display looks like it’s a Fire Tablet. The Echo Show 10 has a 10-inch HD display that can be manually tilted. The biggest feature of the device is that the screen will rotate so it can stay in view. When it does rotate, it’ll be silent, thanks to the brushless motor.
If you prefer the Echo Show 10’s screen to stay in one place, just say “Alexa, turn off motion”, “Alexa, stop following me” or you can use the quick setting by swiping down on the screen. On the top of the screen you’ll find a volume up and down button, mic mute/camera button on & off and a physical camera shutter. The front of the screen has a 13MP camera that should be great for video calls. The 13MP can also be Home Monitoring, meaning your Echo Show 10 can basically become a security camera when you’re not around. This is part of Alexa Guard that has a free version and paid Plus option that adds Activity Sounds, sounding a siren and more.
Inside the Echo Show 10, you’ll find the device is powered by the Amazon AZ1 Neural Edge processor. The chip helps provide fast and accurate wake-word and keyword detection to make Alexa more responsive. The processor is also found in the Echo (2020) and Echo Dot (2020).
In most cases, Alexa is fairly responsive, but there have been times where I say “Alexa” and the device doesn’t respond. That could be more to do with the mics featured on the device. For sound quality, the Echo Show 10 has dual, front-firing tweeters and a powerful woofer. While the device is larger than the Echo (2020), the speaker can get fairly loud and fill a room. Plus the Echo Show 10 can automatically adapt the sound to your space. The Echo Show 10 is available now from Amazon.ca and it comes in Charcoal and Glacier White.
Software
If you’ve used any of Amazon’s other Echo smart displays, then the interface on the Echo Show 10 will seem familiar. To get started, you won’t need the Alexa app. The entire setup process takes place on the device itself including connecting to Wi-Fi and your Amazon account. While it does make it easier, I found the on-screen keyboard to be awkward to type on because there’s a giant Echo logo in the middle. I wish the Echo Show 10 had a setup feature like the Echo (2020), where when you open the Alexa app, you’ll get a prompt that it’s found an Echo device nearby.
The interface of the Echo Show 10 is almost a copy of the Alexa app on your phone. The main screen will show you the time, date, weather and wallpaper. When you swipe to the right, you’ll be taken to an Alexa menu that is divided into six areas; Communicate, Music, Routines, Smart Home, Video and Alarms. Communicate is where you can call (video or audio) your friends and family via their Echo devices or the Alexa app via the Drop-In feature.
Music is where you can control media playback on your devices and see all your linked music/podcast services. Routines are all the routines you’ve created to start different automations. The Smart Home section of the Alexa app shows you all the Echo devices and smart home products connected to your Amazon account. Video lets you watch content from services like Prime Video, Netflix and moreb and finally, Alarms are where you can make alarms. The Echo Show 10 can rotate a fair bit but to help it not bump into anything, there’s the Device Mapping feature that is done in the setup processing. With Device Mapping, you’ll choose where your Echo Show 10 is placed and how far you want it to rotate. There’s also the option to choose its idle position. All the Device Mapping settings can be adjusted later on to suit your preferences. As mentioned earlier, you can disable motion on the device by using quick settings, voice commands or putting on the camera shutter. If you’re out of the range of motion, the device will show a message that it can’t move with you.
Like other Echo products, the Echo Show has Alexa built-in and that gives you access to several skills.
Final Thoughts
The new Echo Show 10 is a great Alexa-powered smart display with a cool rotating screen and room-filling sound.
Pros
• Large and bright display
• Great sound quality and can get fairly loud
• The new design is unique
• The rotating screen is cool and silent (but also creepy for some)
• Built-in Zigbee hub for better smart home capabilities
Cons
• Alexa has some trouble hearing
• Expensive compared to other Echo Show devices
• Required a sizable surface area

Book Review - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
Tumblr media
I am an avid reader but of late I have started choosing books on the basis of its genre. Psychological thrillers, mystery novels, philosophical novels thrills me a lot. Though I love reading, yet I have never tried my hands on reviewing any. These series of lockdowns made me so bore that I thought to start reviewing.
So, I just finished reading a mystery novel, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” by British writer Mark Haddon. “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time” is an incredible rollercoaster of a tale, narrated in the first-person perspective by Christopher John Francis Boone, a 15-year-old boy having high-functioning autism, living in Wiltshire with his father. After discovering his neighbor’s dog has been murdered, he sets off to find out who the murderer could be. As Mrs. Shears, the dog's owner, calls the police, Christopher comes under suspicion. He even hits a policeman when he touches him, Christopher is uncomfortable with being touched. He is arrested, then released with a police caution. He then decides to investigate the dog's death, despite his father's orders to stay out of other people's business. He is severely limited by his fears and difficulties when interpreting the world around him. Some people is shown struggling to deal with Christopher because he can be so uncompromising but I found him rather loveable. He is also completely true to himself, brilliant and like his hero Sherlock Holmes, driven by logic not emotion. Throughout his adventures, Christopher records his experiences in a book, which he calls a "murder mystery novel". Without giving away the ending, he manages to solve the mystery of the murdered dog in the most extraordinary way and becomes the unlikely hero of the story. Not only are his detective skills excellent, he manages to get brilliant marks in maths exams without a lot of revision.
The book ends with Christopher optimistic about his future, having solved the mystery of the murdered dog, gone to London on his own, found his mother, written a book about his adventures, and achieved an A in his A-level maths exam. This is one of the most original and thought provoking books I have read.  It has had a great impact on me as it has made me think differently about people with autism and understand their ways of thinking and other talents are amazing and important. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery, moments of heartbreak but ultimately a happy ending and plenty of humor along the way.

10 to 11
A man leaves his house every morning to walk to work and passes a mental hospital surrounded by a wooden fence. He can hear a lot of chaos and noises made by the patients and every morning the patients are out in the yard and he can hear them saying in unison,
“10, 10, 10, 10, 10”.
He gets curious everyday and keeps on thinking that why they are repeating the same thing each and everyday.
One day out of his curiosity he looks through a hole in the fence.
Suddenly, a stick shoots out and pokes him in the eye.
He got injured and started shouting.
“WHAT THE HELL! He says to himself.”
While walking away pissed off and in anger he can hear the patients saying,
“11, 11, 11, 11, 11”

Review of Nikon d3500
Tumblr media
The Nikon D3500 is a really small DSLR that takes great pictures (when using an external flash). It is really small and lightweight package especially when using the bundled 18-55mm collapsible lens.
High ISO and Autofocus performance is very, very good. The D3500 is Nikon's entry level DSLR replacing the D3400. These two cameras have very similar specifications but the real difference is the White balance.
The D3xxx series before this model, had an orangery AWB when shooting with existing incandescent lighting (i.e regular light bulbs). This model does a much better job The colors are really so much better. The buttons are also rearranged to make one handed-shooting a little easier.
However, the next camera up the line is the D5600 which currently sells for almost the same price since the D5600 has been around for a while. The D5600 which has almost identical and excellent image quality, is about the same size and weight (maybe an ounce or two heavier).
But the D5600 has several important features the D3500 lacks; a fully articulating LCD, touch screen controls (in addition to buttons), many more ISO stops (The D3500 has only 2 ISO stops between ISO 400 and 3200), DOF Preview, Bracketing, better wireless picture transfer, automatic sensor cleaning, programmable FN button etc. Like almost all cameras, the built in flash is not great; an external speedlight with bounce capabilities is really essential for properly exposed photographs.
The SB300 is a very small flash and a great match for this camera (and for the D5600). Like all cameras, the most important component is the skill and imagination of the photographer.

Jaipur: A Quick and Handy Travel Guide
It’s hard to miss the pink in the ‘Pink City’, as Jaipur is fondly called. Jaipur is a fine representation of the regal grandiose, that has always distinguished the state of Rajasthan. Home to opulent palaces, towering forts and holy temples, not only has Jaipur gracefully retained its royal roots but it proudly displays them for visitors to see and experience.
Places to See in Jaipur
Hawa Mahal: Jaipur’s most iconic landmark, the red and pink sandstone façade of Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds is widely recognised. Within its chambers, hidden from public view, the women of the royal house would secretly observe the activities on the street, through the palace’s latticework openings. A fine example of Mughal architecture, the pyramidal design of Hawa Mahal rises five-storeys from the ground.
Nahargarh Fort: Set on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, Nahargarh Fort is striking in stature. Built as the summer palace for the royal family, the main palace within the fort is known as Madhavendra Bhawan. In addition, there are nine other double-storied living spaces within the fort. An example of Indo-European architectural style, the royal frescos and marble engravings can still be see on the interior walls here. The views of Jaipur city are stunning from Nahagarh Fort.
Jantar Mantar: Dating back to the 18th century, Jantar Mantar is an astronomical observation site and a testimony to the scholarly brilliance of a bygone era. Among the 20 instruments found at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest sundial in the world.
Things to Do in Jaipur
Visit an Elephant Camp: Located behind Amber Fort, Dera Amer is a privately owned 160-acre forest and wilderness camp. A natural habitat for elephants, camels and other domesticated animals, visitors can explore the Aravali forest on elephant back. They can also be privy to how they’re cared for and try their hand at bathing these gentle giants.
Shop for Local Handicrafts: The local bazaars of Jaipur are teeming with things to buy. Clothes, shoes, home furnishings, handicrafts, spices, jewelry and pottery…there isn’t anything you won’t love or can’t find. Some of the popular marketplaces in the city are Baapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar.
What to Eat
Ghewar: A favourite with locals and tourists, ghewar is a traditional Rajasthani sweet that is circular in shape. It’s deep fried and laden with pistachios and almonds. LMB in Johari Bazaar is an acclaimed eatery to sample this delicacy.
Kachori: Kachori is a fried snack that can either be sweet or savoury. When in Jaipur, pick up your box of the famous pyaaz kachori from Rawat ki Kachori and enjoy it with a hot cup of tea!
When to Go:
October to March: These are undoubtedly the best months to visit Jaipur as the summer heat has abated. December and January are the peak of winter and are exceptionally cold and dry. Temperatures start rising in February and remain pleasant till March which is the ideal weather for a holiday!

GREED WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO DOWNFALL
There once was a king named Midas who did a good deed for a Satyr. And he was then granted a wish by Dionysus, the god of wine.
For his wish, Midas asked that whatever he touched would turn to gold. Despite Dionysus’ efforts to prevent it, Midas pleaded that this was a fantastic wish, and so, it was bestowed.
Excited about his newly-earned powers, Midas started touching all kinds of things, turning each item into pure gold.
But soon, Midas became hungry. As he picked up a piece of food, he found he couldn’t eat it. It had turned to gold in his hand.
Hungry, Midas groaned, “I’ll starve! Perhaps this was not such an excellent wish after all!”
Seeing his dismay, Midas’ beloved daughter threw her arms around him to comfort him, and she, too, turned to gold. “The golden touch is no blessing,” Midas cried

They say plants can sense,
Indeed plants do!
But have you ever noticed them closely?
That green hued lovely creature,
Bearing a life in itself.
Bestowing love, live, happiness,
All for us.
That magnificent sight when the leaves sway in the breeze,
As if dancing on their own merry melody.
Have you ever had a chat with'em?
They are the patient listeners,
Non judgemental ears, therapists!
They have the ability of healing.
Their presence is soothing to heart and soul.
Their beauty, a treat to our eyes.
Have you ever had a glance over winter morning?
Leaves embraced with dew,
Just like two distant lovers, they only meet for a while.
That gleeful sight often elates my heart.
They are more than just nonliving beings,
They are companions,
A life filled with love!

Movie Review - Contagion
Tumblr media
Do you all remember that evening when we heard about Covid-19 for the very first time? Quite a fresh memory isn’t it?
We saw movies on pandemics but we never thought of such dreadful pandemics happening in reality.  It jostled out of nowhere and made our lives, a living nightmare.
As we are quarantined amidst world’s biggest crisis since World War II, not knowing when it will all end and normal lifestyle will prevail once again, I thought of revisiting my childhood movie collection and found a movie named “Contagion” released in 2011. Never have I ever thought that I could actually relate to something like this.
So, why not write a review on it?
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, “Contagion” is a smart, spooky thriller about contemporary plagues. The cool precision with which Steven Soderbergh depicted a deadly virus spreading throughout the world, quickly claiming millions of victims is commendable. There's no great panic in his tone, no hysteria. Set in the world-is-flat now, the movie tracks a mystery pathogen after it catches a ride on a flight from Hong Kong to Chicago, an early hop for a globe-sprinting pandemic that cuts across borders and through bodies effortlessly. This scenario is already familiar to us as we are thriving in covid situation.
“Contagion” begins with Gwyneth Paltrow's character, Beth, coughing as she reaches into a bowl of peanuts at an airport bar on her way home to Minneapolis from a business trip in Hong Kong. This is Day 2, we are told, and she will end up being Patient Zero. With the help of a low-key but propulsive electronic score, Soderbergh steadily focuses on the hands as he jumps from Chicago to Tokyo to London in these early scenes, steadily revealing how we pass our credit card to a waitress or grasp a bus railing or press an elevator button.
Kate Winslet's character, the steely Dr. Erin Mears, who thrusts herself into the vortex as the virus starts developing, offers a chilling statistic to some skeptical medical administrators: We touch our hands to our face 2,000 to 3,000 times ... a day.
Matt Damon, as Paltrow's stoic husband, Mitch, tries to stay strong and protect his teenage daughter as it becomes clear that they're both immune. Jude Law, believably skeevy as an online journalist with questionable ethics, digs for the truth of the story - but government scientists are just as keen on stopping the spread of information as they are the disease itself.
The disease spreads quickly, though, and no one in the disease prevention industry can get a grasp on it. They first have trouble limiting it, all efforts of which prove to be futile. Then they have trouble replicating it in a lab setting, which only gets fixed with a non-government doctor ignores orders to destroy his samples and continues his work. They then have trouble figuring out how to actually attack it, until one of the chief scientists circumvents procedure and injects herself with the most promising vaccine they've developed up to that point. Then, the story's still not over, because while they do have the vaccine, they also have millions and millions of people who need it, and they can only make so much at a time, so a lottery gets developed to distribute it out by birthdate.
At the very end of the film, Soderbergh adds a brief scenario explaining where the virus may have come from in the first place, and how very few degrees of separation there were between its origin and a woman from Minneapolis. Whether this could happen in the way Soderbergh illustrates is beside the point; all viruses originate somewhere, and in an age of air travel, they can reach a new continent in a day. The movie follows the protocols of techno-thrillers, with subtitles keeping count: Day 1, Day 3 and so on. Another way the movie captures the messy reality of this situation is how it uses its characters in the press.
It's a movie about this ever changing process to get an unseen threat that's debilitating the world order under control. It's not about characters going through big emotional changes with catharsis for them at the end of the film. It's a thriller on a global scale. What it sets out to do, it does extremely well. I think it's one of the most effective thrillers in decades.
So…if only we pay heed to “wash hands often”, “use hand sanitizers”, we can try to keep these at bay.

Review of Dell Inspiron 3501
Tumblr media
The for a student is a excellent. It has a great Speed while working. Can handle light and medium with no difficulties. The i5 processor with 256ssd is also good. It has enough ports for most work but misses a c type port. The build quality is also nice. The camera, speaker, mike, keyboard and mousepad all work perfectly. The major 2 problems I feel are heating and battery backup. It gets heat up within 30 min of use. The backup is okay with almost 3 to 3.5 hours.
Likes : 1.Thin and light weight, 2.Touchpad space is more with inner right and left click button,3. Narrow display bezel ,4. Stereo speakers with enough loudness .
Dislikes : 1.On/Off button within keyboard region and its hard touch and sometimes not working properly (need light touch button in usual separate place). 2.Exhaust fan window at bottom (side exhaust is more desirable). 3.Non removable battery compartment. 4.USB type C port missing. 5.No fast processing performance . 6. No separate HDD LED indicator 7. No separate charging indicator(not desirable after charged it goes off. Its desirable to indicate Green for full charge otherwise Red indication).
